[Bug 1856846] Re: GDM3 login loop with X11
Since you say the problem only happens with X11 and not Wayland, I assume that refers to the choice of login session. Worth noting that the login screen itself uses Wayland and not X11 :) So if the only problem here is starting X sessions, please: 1. Reboot to clear the system log. 2. Try to log in with X11 once, it should fail. 3. Reboot the system again, immediately. 4. Try to log in with Wayland, it should succeed. 5. Run this command to gather the log of the failed attempt: journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt 6. Run these commands to give us extra information about the system: dmesg > dmesg.txt lspci -k > lspcik.txt 7. [Bug 1856161] Re: Thunderbolt dock fails to connect USB devices
As I mentioned in comment 22, connecting the thunderbolt dock without any additional USB devices plugged in, works well. After the controller initializes, I can plug in the rest of the devices and they get set up properly. Comment 22 has a dmesg log off that. I haven't tried booting with the dock connected without the additional USB devices, as that is not my use case (I don't usually shut down or reboot my computer), but I can try that later today. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1856161 Title: Thunderbolt dock fails to connect USB devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1856161/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857307] [NEW] Wireless wouldn't turn on.
Public bug reported: I used Ubuntu on this machine starting with 16.04 LTS. The network PCI never worked but USB D-Link card did work... up to recently and then it stopped. I installed 18.04 LTS -- it read Airplane Mode On and nothing could be done. rfkill gave me phy0 soft block no, hard block yes. But f8+Fn only caused a pop-up message that Airplane Mod On or Off but not in the status bar -- there it was always on with an instruction to use hardware switch and setting wireless never worked. [Bug 1857276] [NEW] Using Mod1 as modifier triggers accelerator keys automatically
Public bug reported: 1) Release: Ubuntu 16.04.04 LTS 2) Package x11-xkb-utils 7.7+2 3) In xkb, when using Mod1 (bound by default to left Alt and right Alt) to trigger a shift level, typing in a dialog box should not trigger accelerator shortcuts. 4) When using Mod1 in a xkb type, accelerator keys are triggered by default. So when logging in, the "o" in my password triggers the "OK" button, which forces me to use an alternate keyboard layout to enter my password. Same happens, for example, when using the screenshot tool, typing "s" triggers the "Take Screenshot" button. Attached is the type file causing the issue. The offending type is "SIX_LEVEL", and the issue appears when I use Mod1 as the modifier for any shift level. I don't have this issue on my other layout (us). Public bug reported: Ubuntu 19.04 (Disco) Linux 5.4.6-050406-generic linux-firmware-1.184 mutter-3.32.2+git20190711-2ubuntu1~19.04.1 nvidia-driver-440: Installed: 440.44-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 440.44-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 440.44-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/graphics-drivers/ppa/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I've noticed screen tearing with the nvidia 440 driver on 5.4.x kernels. Typically, this is resolved by setting the xrandr option 'PRIME Synchronization' to '1', however, doing so with the above combination results in never being enabled. $ xrandr --output eDP-1-1 --set 'PRIME Synchronization' '1' $ xrandr --verbose | grep PRIME PRIME Synchronization: 0 PRIME Synchronization: 1 PRIME Synchronization: 1 PRIME Synchronization: 1 Reverting to Linux 5.0.0-37-generic resolve the issue, so I figured I'd raise it here first, however, it seems like a potential kernel regression issue if the only thing I'm changing is indeed the kernel version. Your input would be appreciated. I tried to figure out how to post a bug on the PPA, however, it seems bug creation is disabled on that PPA, so I ended up here. I've been testing newer kernel versions to get fixes for other problems with my hardware. Due to another package dependency, I'm stuck on disco for some pulseaudio bluetooth codec support, so I've been pushing forward the kernel, firmware and nvidia driver versions to get the other driver fixes. I realise this is not ideal. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857271 Title: Focal 440.44-0ubuntu1 PRIME Sync not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-440/+bug/1857271/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1796081] Re: dpkg frontend locking
I do not see why we need this new frontend lock. If there are higher level frontends, they may have to do some locking before calling apt, but they would have to release the locks before calling apt, and then there is race condition. Why not just use the old dpkg lock and make the package managers ignore the lock, if there is DPKG_LOCKED in environment? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1796081 Title: dpkg frontend locking To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/+bug/1796081/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1753183] Re: Not able to do quick calculation via GNOME Activities
This is still an issue in 19.10. Has there been any progress? Also, is there any explanation anywhere about why gnome-calculator is a snap and not a deb? I have to imagine fixing both this issue and the launch time issue (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- calculator/+bug/1797734) are hard to fix and thus won't be fixed soon, and both would be solved if gnome-calculator wasn't a snap. I see quick access to a calculator as a vital feature in modern operating systems (there's a reason why Windows, iOS, macOS, upstream GNOME, etc. has it built in to their search). It's a shame that it has been broken in Ubuntu for over one and a half years for such a seemingly trivial reason. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753183 Title: Not able to do quick calculation via GNOME Activities To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-calculator/+bug/1753183/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857257] [NEW] linux-image-5.0.0-35-generic breaks checkpointing of container
Public bug reported: Trying to checkpoint a container (docker/podman) on 18.04 fails starting with linux-image-5.0.0-35-generic. We (CRIU upstream) see this in Travis starting a few weeks ago. Manually testing it locally shows that linux- image-5.0.0-32-generic still works and linux-image-5.0.0-35-generic does not longer work. It seems to be overlayfs related, at least that is what we believe. The CRIU error message we see is: (00.170944) Error (criu/files-reg.c:1277): Can't lookup mount=410 for fd=-3 path=/bin/busybox (00.170987) Error (criu/cr-dump.c:1246): Collect mappings (pid: 1637) failed with -1 We have not seen this only in Travis, but also multiple CRIU users reported that bug already. Currently we have to tell them to downgrade the kernel. I also able to reproduce it with linux-image-5.3.0-24-generic. Staying on the 4.18.0 kernel series does not show this error. 4.18.0-25-generic works without problems. See also https://github.com/checkpoint-restore/criu/issues/860 One of the possible explanations from our side include: "Looks like we have the same as for st_dev now with mnt_id, that is bad, because we can't find on which mount to open the file if kernel hides these information from us." Running on the upstream 5.5.0-rc1 kernel does not show this error. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857257 Title: linux-image-5.0.0-35-generic breaks checkpointing of container To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1857257/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
