[Bug 1847570] Re: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login
It appears the upstream fix in master (PulseAudio 14) does not apply and can't work in PulseAudio 13 so we will stick with the revert in PulseAudio 13. The patch in comment #34 is still awaiting sponsorship/publishing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1847570 Title: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pulseaudio/+bug/1847570/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857874] Re: Touchpad cease to function
** Description changed: Touchpad on Dell Latitude 3190 may cease to function unexpectedly some time after logging in GUI. By some regression tests it's found this was a direct result of commit f840d7f6870d ("Revert \"pinctrl: intel: Initialize GPIO properly when used through irqchip\"") that was included in stable kernel v4.14.38 commit 94c0308279ec and in Ubuntu generic kernel since 4.15.0-24.26 in - bug 1775483. + bug 1775483, in -oem kernel since 4.15.0-1009. The original upstream bug for that pinctrl fix is at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1543769 for ASUS FX503VD, and it's later found to cause screen backlight failure. Further fixes was landed in later kernel versions, but for 4.15 and older, it didn't seem to justify the necessity of more complex patches into stable kernel, so the pinctrl fix was then reverted instead, and the original touchpad cease to function issue was not actually fixed ever since. [Step to reproduce] 1. Turn on I2C debug messages "i2c-hid.debug=1 dyndbg='file drivers/i2c/* +pt' log_buf_len=32M" 2. Boot into GUI, and start dmesg capturing by `dmesg -w | tee dmesg.$(uname -r)` 3. Move fingers around on the touchpad to generate touch events for 1 minute. [Expected result] Touch events generated all the time throughout the process. [Actual result] Touch event cease to generate after some arbitrary time and there is no way to recover. -- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: gdm1826 F pulseaudio u 3178 F pulseaudio DistributionChannelDescriptor: # This is the distribution channel descriptor for the OEM CDs # For more information see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DistributionChannelDescriptor canonical-oem-somerville-bionic-amd64-20180608-47+bionic-master+X90 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2019-12-20 (9 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 "Bionic" - Build amd64 LIVE Binary 20180608-09:38 IwConfig: wlp1s0no wireless extensions. lono wireless extensions. [Bug 1857178] Re: GPU hang
If you want the backport the fix to Ubuntu's kernel, we need to identify the fix: First, find the first -rc kernel works and the last -rc kernel doesn’t work from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ Then, $ sudo apt build-dep linux $ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git $ cd linux $ git bisect start $ git bisect new $(the working version you found) $ git bisect old $(the non-working version found) $ make localmodconfig $ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it. If it doesn’t work, $ git bisect old Otherwise, $ git bisect new Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the commit fixes the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857178 Title: GPU hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1857178/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857868] [NEW] Cairo Dock disappears when display is scaled
Public bug reported: I have been using cairo-dock for many years and find it truly versatile and impressive. I encountered a new problem recently though, just by chance. If I use Gnome display settings and scale the display beyond 100%, cairo-dock simply disappears!. This happens when scaling from 100 to 200% under normal circumstances. It also happens when mutter experimental features are enabled and the display is scaled to 125% or 150%. The dock cannot be seen. Steps to reproduce: 1. [Bug 1851340] Re: [mgag200] Ubuntu 19.10 upgrade results in invisible mouse cursor on Matrox G200eR2
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Eoan) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Description changed: - Following in place upgrade of Ubuntu 19.04 -> 19.10 I no longer have - visible cursor with my Gnone desktop. + == SRU Justification == + The cursor on Matrox G200eR2 will disappear after upgrading kernel from + Disco to Eoan, this is caused by this commit that got applied in Eoan: + 4dc57b10 (drm/mgag200: Rewrite cursor handling) + + == Fix == + * a9c342ab (drm/mgag200: Don't unpin the current cursor image's buffer.) + * cf578c8c (drm/mgag200: Set cursor scanout address to correct BO) + * e61576c4 (drm/mgag200: add in missing { } around if block) + * a0fd72d2 (drm/mgag200: Pin displayed cursor BO to video memory) + + Focal got these patches already and it does not have this issue. + + == Test == + Test kernel could be found here: + https://people.canonical.com/~phlin/kernel/lp-1851340-mgag200-cursor/ + + Verified by the bug reporter, John Hartley, the patched kernel can fix + this issue. + + == Regression Potential == + Low, change limited to mgag200 cursor itself, and it's already been + applied on newer releases. + + + == Original Bug Report == + Following in place upgrade of Ubuntu 19.04 -> 19.10 I no longer have visible cursor with my Gnone desktop. I have found the same problem when upgrading 2 machines from Ubuntu 19.04 -> 19.10. Reproducing problem is easy: 1. Open Ubuntu Update Window 2. Select "Upgrade" 3. On completion of update (after reboot) cursor is no longer visible. 4. This applies to display connected to VGA port on host with USB Keyboard + Mouse While the connected display has no visible cursor and so is usable, I have always used X11VNC Server to provide network GUI access. On the remote X11VNC display I see and can use the cursor. This bug report is being sent via Remote X11VNC window, as I cannot use the main VGA display window (due to lack of visible cursor) I have done search online and thought that maybe issue was with my USB Mighty Mouse, so I also tried with Logitech M100R USB Mouse. Same result, no visible mouse cursor. I have done: "grep usb /var/log/syslog" and can see many USB events, including both Apple and Logitech mouse detection events. NOTE: Due to compatibility issue with X11VNC, I have disable Wayland on both machines by adding the following option to: /etc/gdm3/custom.conf WaylandEnable=false Regards, John Hartley. [Bug 1774950] Re: Suspend fails in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 18.04 but works fine in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 17.10 (and on Kubuntu 18.04 using kernel 4.14.47)
I have a desktop with an i7-6900K and an NVidia 1060 card. For the issue is intermittent. It seems the longer the machine is asleep the less likely it is to wake. [Bug 1857776] Re: touchpad freeze after long suspention
Hi, could you reboot boot with kernel parameters i2c-hid.debug=1 dyndbg='file drivers/i2c/* +pt' and paste dmesg since boot to the symptom occurs (after deep suspend)? Please refer to this tutorial[1] for modifications to boot params. Detailed steps are: 1. Edit grub settings: $ gksu gedit /etc/default/grub Then edit the line beginning with "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=" as: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i2c-hid.debug=1 dyndbg='file drivers/i2c/* +pt' log_buf_len=32M" I also added "log_buf_len=32M" here to extend kernel log buffer size so that everything since boot will be kept. Save changes, quit gedit. 2. Re-generate grub.conf: $ sudo update-grub 3. After rebooted, open a terminal and save dmesg: $ dmesg -w | sudo tee dmesg.$(uname -r).i2c-debug This will run forever until interrupted (Ctrl-C). 4. Open another terminal and trigger system suspend by command $ systemctl suspend Resume the system by pressing keyboard keys, power buttons whatever fits your case after 1 minute. 5. Interrupt previous dmesg command in 3) and paste the saved dmesg log. [Bug 1857631] Re: disconnect error upon search engine
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
