[Bug 1583688] Re: libvirt-sock not recreated on service restart

2020-01-12 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
@Richard
IMHO likely a different issue.
This here was of the 16.04 time and some odd ordering of the services that
provided socket activation.

We don't use socket activation anymore in 19.10 therefore I'd think this
would be a better a new bug.

In on this new bug directly add answers to:
- is that happening right after install of libvirt or later?
- what does this say
  $ sudo systemctl status libvirtd
  $ sudo lsof +fg '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock'
- as it was important to people affected by the bug here, did
  restarting the libvirt service help?

- Add git_revert_draw_background.patch
- Add ubuntu_language_list_from_SUPPORTED.patch,
Add API to get list of available languages from SUPPORTED file.
To be used by gnome 3.8 region panel language installation.
- Add gnomebg_hidpi_image.patch,
gnome_bg_create_surface: always honor device scale, that fixes the

- debian/control.in: Build-Depend on language-pack-gnome-he for build tests
- debian/libgnome-desktop-3-18.symbols:
+ Add symbols included in Ubuntu patches

seccomp is ATM not available on riscv64, let's blacklist it for now

gnome-desktop3 (3.34.1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/control.in: Do not make libgnome-desktop-3-dev depend against
libudev-dev on non-linux architectures, this is not needed
  * debian/control.in: Do not (build-)depend against libseccomp-dev on
riscv64, seccomp is not supported on this architecture ATM
  * debian/control.in: Add at-spi2-core to the build-dependencies, this seems

In the previous discussion you said it was kernel 5.4 that had the
problem. Which one is it?

Hmm that upstream status is wrong, or linked to the wrong bug. It's
definitely NOT fixed with the latest master code yet.

[Bug 1858201] Re: volume size pod zfs

2020-01-12 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Note we can derive that allocation was not set as we see "-s" (capacity
!= allocation), but we don't see -o so allocation is "0" (likely unset).

330 if (vol->target.capacity != vol->target.allocation) {

331 virCommandAddArg(cmd, "-s");

332 if (vol->target.allocation > 0) {

333 virCommandAddArg(cmd, "-o");

Further we have:
339 virCommandAddArg(cmd, "-V");

340 virCommandAddArgFormat(cmd, "%lluK",

341VIR_DIV_UP(vol->target.capacity, 1024));

Currently the code makes whatever you pass it 1k aligned (unconditionally).
That is in src/storage/storage_backend_zfs.c.

Code-wise it would be easy to make it 8k aligned, but I'd need to know if that
is a general ZFS requirement or just one due to the way you set up your ZFS.
Note: the code is that way since ZFS support was added in 2014, not much
changes going on.

But I start to guess too much ...
Still waiting for the commands and XMLs that got used to reproduce this as
asked before.

Marking Focal as INVALID explicitly because Focal is still a series in
development, and we'll constantly import new upstream revisions into
Focal, so it's supposed to be always newer than the in-tree kernel.

[Bug 1859400] [NEW] bind Home key to F1 and then back to Home=Home - fails

2020-01-12 Thread BETLOG
Public bug reported:

works as expected:
(keycode 110 = Home)
xmodmap -e "keycode 110 = a a a"
press Home in kate or on konsole:
(returns 'a')
xmodmap -e "keycode 110 = Home Home Home"
press Home in kate or on konsole:
(cursor positions to full-left of line)

ie: the above works perfectly

but after binding:
xmodmap -e "keycode 110 = F1 F1 F1"
and then reverting
xmodmap -e "keycode 110 = Home Home Home"
Home key no longer functions as expected. (it does something, as the cursor
changes for no apparent reason, but I can't figure out what it's doing)

NOTE:
I have a global KDE hotkey set to F1, that runs a context sensitive bash script
(the active window determines what happens, mostly it uses xdotool to determine
window title, uses that to determne if video is being played or recorded, and
then writes a timestamp into a text file based on the results)

[Bug 1859398] [NEW] Extracting .rar creates multi-GB file which fills up harddrive

2020-01-12 Thread Clinton H
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu 19.10
2) Archive Manager 3.32.2-1
3) Display a message if .rar is unsupported.
4) Selecting the ProtectionId.690.December.2017.rar file and then right
clicking "Extract Here", Archive Manager creates a multi-GB file named
file_id.dz which fills up the harddrive. I was able to successfully extract the
ProtectionId.690.December.2017.rar file with 7zip via WINE.

[Bug 1859395] [NEW] libxen-4.9: missing libxenstat

2020-01-12 Thread Jens Elkner
Public bug reported:

libxen-dev package contains /usr/include/xenstat.h but unfortunately the
related static lib and the dyn lib package libxen-4.9 doesn't contain it
either. Would be nice to add it at least to the libxen-4.9 so that one
does not need to install all the other huge bloat just to compile a
little util.

[Bug 1859387] Re: intel/sof: update the intel sof firmware to v1.3-0f73628 for cml and cnl

2020-01-12 Thread Hui Wang
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
- In our ubuntu kernel, the sof driver will load the sof-cnl.ri (firmware)
- on all platforms, but mainline kernel already supported the multi
- firmwares on differnt platforms, and OEM project needs us to
- support the mutli-firmware names in the ubuntu kernel
+ Intel released a new version sof firmware to Canonical, they suggested
+ that we should integrate the version v1.3-0f73628 and we should only
+ pick the cml and cnl firmwares since other firmwares are not fully
+ tested. Since we have a couple of Lenovo and Dell cnl and cml machines
+ which need to enable sof driver, we integrate the firmwares to
+ ubuntu.

  [Fix]
- cherry-pick 3 upstream patches, then on cnl platforms, it will
- load sof-cnl.ri, on cml platfomrs, it will load sof-cml.ri, on cfl
- platforms, it will load sof-cfl.ri
+ - fix the hang issue in the firmware for the cml and cnl
+ - introduce the ldc file which helps to do the firmware debug
+ - divide the firmware to cml and cnl specific ones
+

  [Test Case]
- Prepare the firmware from https://github.com/thesofproject/linux-firmware
- master branch, then boot the kernel with these patches.
+ These firmwares are already widely used in oem project, the audio
+ functions worked very well under both Lenovo and Dell dmic machines.

  [Regression Risk]
- Low, just let different platforms load differnt firmware, and these
- patches are in the upstream kernel.
+ Low, Intel released these firmware to us, and we already did large
+ numbers audio test in the oem project.

2020-01-12 Thread hugh chao
** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

Not able to adjust Audio input UI volume if this device doesn't have a

  [ Test Case ]

  1. Boot ubuntu without any external headset connected.
  2. Launch gnome-control-center and switch to Sound->Input tab.
  3. Connect external headset, then you will find the input show up but can not
adjust the volume.

  [ Regression potential ]
+
+ Low, The first part of the patch is a workaround for a bug elsewhere
+ which is reporting things in the wrong order. The second part is a fix
+ for a case that wasn't being handled correctly.

  Package in this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~hugh712/+archive/ubuntu/mysru/+packages

Summary:Not able to adjust Audio input UI volume, it's gray

I tested using log-out from app indicator and the problem also happens.

PS: This is the only thing preventing me to migrate to 20.04 definitely
right now. This version is very clean and fast!

[Bug 1859390] [NEW] Blurred texts, icons and character typed on login screen after logout

2020-01-12 Thread Sidney Lins
Public bug reported:

I login to my account normally. But, when I click on "switch user" from
app indicator, the clock in login screen will be completely blurred,
impossible even to perceive it is a clock/time, except if I wait one
minute so that the last number will update and it will show correctly
(only the last number).

If I press enter or click-up, I see the login form with the same
problem: I can see that there are two users but they are completely
indistinguishable and blurred. If I click on it, I can type my password
but still blurred, even the chars I type are blurred.

The app indicator icons are blurred too, but when I put the cursor over
them, instantly they are fixed.

PS: I have two enabled monitors and two users, but the second user is
not logged in.

[Bug 1859339] Re: Freeze

2020-01-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1859389] [NEW] should disable DKMS build against kernel v5.0.0 or above

2020-01-12 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu kernel v5.0 or above should have enough backports to enable AX201
family, there should be little reason one would need DKMS on such
systems. Besides, 7906 has been pretty outdated in comparison to what we
already have in kernel, actually it could even cause more problems than
gains.

Therefore, for Bionic 4.15 kernels (-generic & -oem) we will still
recommends the use of this DKMS as v4.15 is even more outdated. For
Bionic hwe kernels (5.0) or hwe-edge (5.3) kernels, the use of this DKMS
should be obsoleted. Same applies to Disco/Eoan/Focal.

So that sounds like a buggy extension more than a Gnome Shell issue. You
also have a few extensions installed:

'user-th...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com'
'impatie...@gfxmonk.net'
'no...@maestroschan.fr'
'bingwallpa...@ineffable-gmail.com'
'dayni...@maze-n.github.com'

Please try UNINSTALLING those. I suspect BingWallpaper the most since it
would do rendering, and it shows up in your system log with errors too.

This has begun happening in the last few days; I was unable to create a
bug for the last crash because I had some outdated packages installed.

This crash occurred as I started Firefox Nightly on my machine with a
  fairly large session being restored.

GNOME logged me out as the windows were being spawned by session
  restored.

My Firefox is being started in pure Wayland mode -- MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1

I am using "Basic" compositing (not WebRender) in this session.

Happy to provide any other details.

[Bug 1859387] [NEW] intel/sof: update the intel sof firmware to v1.3-0f73628 for cml and cnl

2020-01-12 Thread Hui Wang
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
In our ubuntu kernel, the sof driver will load the sof-cnl.ri (firmware)
on all platforms, but mainline kernel already supported the multi
firmwares on differnt platforms, and OEM project needs us to
support the mutli-firmware names in the ubuntu kernel

[Fix]
cherry-pick 3 upstream patches, then on cnl platforms, it will
load sof-cnl.ri, on cml platfomrs, it will load sof-cml.ri, on cfl
platforms, it will load sof-cfl.ri

[Test Case]
Prepare the firmware from https://github.com/thesofproject/linux-firmware
master branch, then boot the kernel with these patches.

[Regression Risk]
Low, just let different platforms load differnt firmware, and these
patches are in the upstream kernel.
