[Bug 1854362] Re: [MIR] ceph-iscsi, tcmu, python-configshell-fb, python-rtslib-fb, urwid, targetcli-fb
I reviewed python-configshell-fb 1.1.fb25-1.1 as checked into focal. This shouldn't be considered a full audit but rather a quick gauge of maintainability. python-configshell-fb provides a python library which is used for building CLI based user-interfaces. Upstream appears healthy and responsive. - CVE History: - None - No security relevant Build-Depends - debhelper, dh-python, python3-all, python3-pyparsing, python3-setuptools, python3-six - pre/post inst/rm scripts - These are fine - just the auto-generated ones by dh_python3 to py3compile on postinst and py3clean on prerm - No init scripts - No systemd units - No dbus services - No setuid binaries - No binaries in PATH - No sudo fragments - No polkit files - No udev rules - No unit tests / autopkgtests - This will make doing any security updates hard to test... - No cron jobs - Clean build log - No processes spawned - File IO - Uses files for preferences and logging but these are all parameters to the library and not hard-coded - Preferences are saved and restored using pickle which could present a security issue since this does little sanity checking on formats etc - however this is done using a file-name provided by the user of the library and relative to the user's home directory so this is likely safe - although there is no use of umask() to ensure this file is not accessible by others so perhaps that at least should be employed - Logging - Uses general python format strings etc - this is safe - No environment variable usage - No Use of privileged functions - No Use of cryptography / random number sources etc - No Use of temp files - No Use of networking - No Use of WebKit - No Use of PolicyKit Static analysis via bandit and Coverity does not show anything significant Security team ACK for promoting python-configshell-fb to main however I would be happier if some unit tests were added so that some testing can be done for any future updates to ensure regressions are not introduced. ** Changed in: python-configshell-fb (Ubuntu) Assignee: Ubuntu Security Team (ubuntu-security) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854362 Title: [MIR] ceph-iscsi, tcmu, python-configshell-fb, python-rtslib-fb, urwid, targetcli-fb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceph-iscsi/+bug/1854362/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1864157] [NEW] [bionic] Add HMS CAN driver for Dell Edge Gateways
Public bug reported: == Impact == The HMS CAN device on Dell Edge Gateways doesn't work with linux-oem in Bionic. We used to have a driver for 4.4 from IHV integrated in Xenial. The master branch has been updated by Peter Bergner : https://gcc.gnu.org/g:b82d426662469ee8b78ec7e8f74abe950485c9d5 commit r10-6760-gb82d426662469ee8b78ec7e8f74abe950485c9d5 Author: Peter Bergner Date: Thu Feb 20 11:08:02 2020 -0600 rs6000: Fix infinite loop building ghostscript and icu [PR93658] Fix rs6000_legitimate_address_p(), which erroneously marks a valid Altivec address as being invalid, which causes LRA's process_address() to go into an infinite loop spilling the same address over and over again. gcc/ PR target/93658 * config/rs6000/rs6000.c (rs6000_legitimate_address_p): Handle VSX vector modes. gcc/testsuite/ PR target/93658 * gcc.target/powerpc/pr93658.c: New test. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1862053 Title: Compiler gets stuck (or extremely slow) on ppc64el To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gcc/+bug/1862053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1862053]
Ok, after debugging, this looks to be a bug in rs6000_legitimate_address_p(). At the beginning of LRA, we have the following insn: (insn 520 67 71 5 (set (mem:V16QI (and:DI (reg/f:DI 110 sfp) (const_int -16 [0xfff0])) [0 MEM [(char *)&a + 16B]+0 S16 A128]) (reg:V16QI 303 [ vect__2.13 ])) "bug.i":10:10 1103 {vsx_movv16qi_64bit} (expr_list:REG_DEAD (reg:V16QI 303 [ vect__2.13 ]) (nil))) lra_eliminate() then converts that to: (insn 520 67 71 5 (set (mem:V16QI (and:DI (plus:DI (reg/f:DI 110 sfp) (const_int 112 [0x70])) (const_int -16 [0xfff0])) [0 MEM [(char *)&a + 16B]+0 S16 A128]) (reg:V16QI 303 [ vect__2.13 ])) "bug.i":10:10 1103 {vsx_movv16qi_64bit} (expr_list:REG_DEAD (reg:V16QI 303 [ vect__2.13 ]) (nil))) which isn't valid and needs fixing...which is fine. process_address() then gives us: (insn 520 67 71 5 (set (mem:V16QI (and:DI (reg:DI 633) (const_int -16 [0xfff0])) [0 MEM [(char *)&a + 16B]+0 S16 A128]) (reg:V16QI 303 [ vect__2.13 ])) "bug.i":10:10 1103 {vsx_movv16qi_64bit} (expr_list:REG_DEAD (reg:V16QI 303 [ vect__2.13 ]) (nil))) ...with pseudo 633 being set to plus:DI (reg/f:DI 110 sfp) (const_int 112 [0x70]) which is also good. The bug comes when we now pass insn 520 to rs6000_legitimate_address_p() and we hit the following code: /* If this is an unaligned stvx/ldvx type address, discard the outer AND. */ if (VECTOR_MEM_ALTIVEC_P (mode) && GET_CODE (x) == AND && CONST_INT_P (XEXP (x, 1)) && INTVAL (XEXP (x, 1)) == -16) x = XEXP (x, 0); Our mode is V16QI, so we should execute this code, but we don't. The problem is that VECTOR_MEM_ALTIVEC_P(mode) checks for "rs6000_vector_unit[(MODE)] == VECTOR_ALTIVEC" and V16QI mode returns VECTOR_VSX, so we fail to fall into the code above and end up telling LRA this isn't a valid address. LRA then attempts to spill this again and again and... The following patch fixes the bug for me and I'm regtesting it now: --- a/gcc/config/rs6000/rs6000.c +++ b/gcc/config/rs6000/rs6000.c @@ -8808,7 +8808,7 @@ rs6000_legitimate_address_p (machine_mode mode, rtx x, bool reg_ok_strict) bool quad_offset_p = mode_supports_dq_form (mode); /* If this is an unaligned stvx/ldvx type address, discard the outer AND. */ - if (VECTOR_MEM_ALTIVEC_P (mode) + if (VECTOR_MEM_ALTIVEC_OR_VSX_P (mode) && GET_CODE (x) == AND && CONST_INT_P (XEXP (x, 1)) && INTVAL (XEXP (x, 1)) == -16) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1862053 Title: Compiler gets stuck (or extremely slow) on ppc64el To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gcc/+bug/1862053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1743592] Re: NGINX fails to start/install/upgrade if IPv6 is completely disabled.
To clarify what just happened: nginx should serve on IPv6 by default, just as IPv6 is available on Ubuntu by default. The previous upload broke this, so this revert restores it. Thank you to all who participated in the discussion. The default nginx configuration will fail if IPv6 is disabled, as before. This is unfortunate, and this experience could be improved, so this bug remains open. If you wish to disable IPv6, you must currently also adjust service configuration to match. While this could be improved and we are open to discussion on how to achieve that, the current situation is by design, so I suggested that the bug should be Wishlist to Thomas. Nothing prevents a user from disabling IPv6. Just that if you do, you must also adjust some services to not listen on IPv6. Another way of looking at this is that adjusting those services is part of "disabling IPv6". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1743592 Title: NGINX fails to start/install/upgrade if IPv6 is completely disabled. [Bug 1864147] [NEW] [bionic] Support Intel Atom (Baytrail-I) HS-UART serdev slaves over tty
Public bug reported: [SRU Justification] [Impact] Support Intel Atom (Baytrail-I) HS-UART serdev slaves over tty On systems using Intel Atom (Baytrail-I) SoC's, slave devices connected on HSUART1/2 ports are described by the ACPI BIOS as virtual hardware using HID's INT3511/INT3512. As a consequence, HW manufacturers have complete freedom to install any devices on-board as long as they can be accessed over serial tty interface. Once such device is Dell Edge 3002 IoT Gateway which sports ZigBee & GPS devices on the HS-UART ports 1 & 2 respectively. Post 4.15, with CONFIG_SERIAL_DEV_BUS=y, serdev port controller driver handles the enumeration for the slaves connected on these ports. Also, /dev/ttySx device nodes for these ports are no longer exposed to the userspace. [Fixes] This patchset allows the skipped virtual UART's with ACPI HID's mentioned above to be enumerated as ttyHSx port. [Regression Potential] Low. This driver binds only to Intel Atom E38XX (Baytrail-I) virtual serial ports on the Dell Edge 300x GW. These updates are being carried in the linux-oem (4.15.y) kernel for more than 2 years without any regressions. [Note] This driver has been submitted upstream and is under review. This issue has been identified as a regression in 4.15 and multiple solutions are being explored. Meanwhile, to support customer and maintain release schedule, this driver needs to be in Ubuntu 4.15 based kernels. [Bug 1835114] Re: [MIR] ec2-instance-connect
This new version of ec2-instance-connect is significantly better, thanks for all the work. I was wrong about the dedicated user: using the ec2-instance-connect user is definitely an improvement. My one specific concern: - AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY (and the ability to get one) appears to be available to all processes on the system. What does possession of this secret key mean? The hypervisor may not care, a guest is a guest is a guest, but users may care deeply. Do they? And two generic concerns: - Shell error handling is difficult. This code looks much safer than before but the language is not helpful here. - SSH access credentials are almost invisible: ps auxw | grep ssh will show the flow, as will an inspection of /lib/systemd/system/ssh.service.d/ec2-instance-connect.conf , but these are fairly subtle. These last two issues are more business decisions than security purview. Rewriting a tool isn't cheap and the work on this version was extensive. And all this effort must surely be because users have wanted an out-of- band authentication mechanism. Sufficiently advertising the new feature would allay my concern that it's very subtle. I > would have thought it'd get new versions automatically through new > OpenSSL releases, but perhaps there is some incompatibility in there. Mumble uses Qt's SSL library, and there are differences in the Qt SSL library between Qt 4 and 5. Mumble 1.3 with Qt 5 is capable of TLS that have perfect forward secrecy, but Mumble 1.2 with Qt 4 is not, and that's independent of the particular versions of OpenSSL that are used. i.e. this isn't a limitation of the OpenSSL version, it's a limitation of the SSL library in Qt 4. -- Chris -- Chris Knadle chris.kna...@coredump.us -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1861791 Title: Server incompatible with Focal clients To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mumble/+bug/1861791/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1864132] [NEW] g_ether missing eem support

[Bug 1798400]
Thanks for the analysis! >From it, I still wonder whether this is a pulseaudio bug, though. Why is pulseaudio ever binding to RFCOMM channel 3 *before* there is any need to do so? That is, until I am not connected to any device using channel 3, why is pulseaudio already using it up? In other words, it seems reasonable to me to have the laptop connected to the phone as a headset and in this case not to have the impress remote working. But in case I start impress before setting up a bluetooth connection to the phone, why should be the pulseaudio binding already there? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1798400 Title: [upstream] Regression: cannot use impress remote over bluetooth with ubuntu bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/1798400/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
