[Bug 1870861] Re: chromium-browser is unable to open downloads

2020-04-07 Thread Claudio Matsuoka
Thanks for reporting. The invalid opcode error seems odd, are you
running on an uncommon architecture/cpu? Could you provide more
information about the hardware you're running on such as the
/proc/cpuinfo output?

2020-04-07 Thread saturn
Public bug reported:

It seems that cyrillic small letter `te` (afii10084) has wrong glyph in
italic and bold Italic style: width is too big.

I suggest to replace with the glyph of greek small `tau` letter.

Attaching here the screenshots some word with `te` with original and
replaced glyph.

[Bug 1871178] Re: after some days stored passwords disappear, restart does not remember last used tabs

2020-04-07 Thread Olivier Tilloy
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1616650 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1616650

This is a duplicate of bug #1616650. I suggest you enable the
experimental flag that will prevent background refreshes while an app is
running, see https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/wip-refresh-app-
awareness/10736. Note that the current implementation will postpone an
automated refresh for a maximum of 7 days, so this will only mitigate
the problem, not completely solve it. But it should make the situation a
bit more bearable, until a complete fix is available.

[Bug 1863672] Re: The 'new' persistent live method starting in 19.10 no longer works

2020-04-07 Thread sudodus
I tested with the current casper-initrd with a current Lubuntu Focal
persistent live system, and it works with a 'casper-rw' partition also
in the computers where it did not work before as described in post #25:

1. a Toshiba laptop with an Intel i5 generaton 3 CPU (in BIOS mode and
UEFI mode)

http://www.toshiba.se/laptops/satellite-pro/c850/satellite-pro-c850-19w/

This Toshiba laptop has been my main testing computer for several years.

2. a Dell laptop with an Intel i5 generation 4 CPU (in BIOS mode and
UEFI mode)

https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-latitude-e7240-12-5-core-i5-4310u-8
-gb-ram-128-gb-ssd-english/specs/

3. A Lenovo laptop with an Intel i3 generation 2 CPU (tested only in
UEFI mode)

https://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/ww/wci/products/us/laptop/thinkpad/x-series
/x131e-intel/X131e-Datasheet-Intel.pdf

-o-

@Michael Hudson-Doyle,

Do you want me to attach debug files from one of these computers?

-o-

I noticed that when there was unallocated drive space, the system did
not pick the existing 'casper-rw' partition, but created a 'writable'
partition in the unallocated drive space and used that partition.

So this is a step forward, but provides no guarantee that it will work
in other computers. I think the time until release is too short for
extensive testing, so I still want this 'writable' business to be
reverted. Please revert back to 'casper-rw' as the one and only name of
the file and label of the partition for persistence in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

[Bug 1861460] Re: cloud-init should parse initramfs rendered netplan if present

2020-04-07 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
casper has been changed to generate cloud.cfg instead of netplan, thus
no further work in cloud-init is required for focal.

Closing this issue as fix released in casper & z project.

It would be nice for cloud-init to do what was originally asked, but
that is a feature request of a lower priority now, that needs further
spec / implementation as discussed on github PR.

[Bug 1871367] [NEW] x-terminal-emulator: segfault error 15

2020-04-07 Thread Rosika Schreck
Public bug reported:

Info:
- System: Lubuntu 18.04.4 LTS, 64 bit
- Description: Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS
  Release: 18.04
- lxterminal0.3.1-2ubuntu2

Hi,

the weirdest thing happened yesetrday: all running terminals were shut down all
of a sudden (probably 3 or 4). This came pretty much out of the blue.
Looking up the logs I found the following:

Apr 6 14:23:45 rosika-Lenovo-H520e kernel: [ 4159.762839] x-terminal-
emul[2415]: segfault at 55d6d7002180 ip 55d6d7002180 sp
7ffc2b2fd268 error 15

Apparently there was a problem with the x-terminal-emulator (segfault, error
15).
I may recall that I was using "htop" in one of the terminals at the time. Upon
shutting down "htop" it so happened that all the other terminals went down as
well.

Yet as far as "htop" is concerned there were no log-entries whatsoever.

Does anybody have an idea about what was going on?

Thanks a lot in advance.
Greetings.
Rosika

[Bug 1871364] [NEW] Ubuntu Snap Store can't download resources when proxy is set to "auto"

2020-04-07 Thread Fotis Gimian
Public bug reported:

The problem is extremely simple to reproduce:

1. Install a Ubuntu 20.04 Beta
2. Browse to Settings / Network / Network Proxy and set to Automatic
3. Open the Ubuntu Store and notice that images fail to load

This appears to be AppArmor related as per the errors in the logs I see:

Thank you Daniel,

Don't you think though that a faulty extension *should not* cause a *the
whole session* to crash in the first place?

Hey Hui,

The kernel didn't work after that testing.
Could you indicate as to where the dmic_detect=0 line is?
Sorry I tried many "fixes" so not sure where I put that line.

I can confirm this. I have tested in several computers and it happens in
all of them.

[Bug 1870779] Re: [nvidia] Ubuntu 20.04 beta: Blank/black screen after login on an Nvidia-only desktop (GeForce GTX 1060)

2020-04-07 Thread Michael
I've got some new findings here. I tried to use the HDMI cable instead of
Display Port. With HDMI I was able to login and see the desktop. I was able to
reboot several times and it worked well.
Then I switched the scaling to 200% (I'm an old man ;-)) and everything looked
good. However after the next reboot the screen is black again.
I reproduced this behaviour with the second HDMI port. So it seems that this is
a scaling problem. I will do some further testing there.

[Bug 1867803] Re: ALSA: No soundcards found after updating kernel to 5.3.0.42.36

2020-04-07 Thread Hui Wang
@Arnau,

Yes, just like Jeremy said, the firmware of cfl is not in the 19.10 or
18.04 yet. you could add the workaround of snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0
or manually ln a sof-cfl.ri, if it works well, I will consult with
intel and add that link to ubuntu.

thx.

[Bug 1863672] Re: The 'new' persistent live method starting in 19.10 no longer works

2020-04-07 Thread Akeo
Thanks for the update.

Initial testing seems to indicate that the extra delaying appears to
work, but I still need to check this out a bit more.

I will point out that during one boot (after rebooting the same machine
a few times), I got the following fatal error:

ln: /tmp/mountroot-fail-hooks.d/scripts/init-premount/lvm2: No such file
or directory

I've only seen it once so far, using the new initrd, and, at the moment,
I don't exactly believe that this is related, but since it mentions
mount scripts, I'm not entirely sure.

Another thing I've been consistently observing (I'll open a new issue --
haven't had a chance to do that yet) is that, when persistence is
active, and regardless of whether the partition is labelled 'casper-rw'
or 'writeable', I'm seeing "access beyond end of device" for /dev/sda
and "I/O error while writing superblock" for /dev/sda2 (peristent
partition) on powerdown/reboot. On occasion, this actually seems to
freeze powerdown altogether and I have to perform a hard reset, whereas
none of this happens when persistence is not in used. If it can be
replicated, you should see it if you follow the persistent partition
process I gave above (again, using either 'writable' or 'casper-rw').

All this to say that it still seems to me like, even if you are doing a
good job fixing problems, the persistent partition handling process of
20.04 appears to be a lot more brittle than it was in 19.10, so I would
still advise you to consider reverting, and wait for a non LTS release
to "upgrade" it...

Oh I have to still URGE you do change your choice of introducing
'writable' as the newly allowed label for persistent partitions to
'persistence', which is what Debian and derivatives use.

By supporting 2 labels, you have a unique opportunity to bridge a gap
that has been causing a lot of pain for many Linux users, by UNIFYING
the means in which users are advised to create a persistent partition,
and finally stop this utter nonsense of having this or that distro doing
something entirely different for persistence, when the fundamental
underlying user-process (add option XYZ to the kernel boot options and
create an ext# partition with label ABC) is the same and has no valid
reason to deviate that much from one distro to another.

So can you please at least switch to using 'persistence' instead of
'writable' for the 20.04 release? If you need additional validation that
Debian Live uses 'persistence' as its persistent partition label (since,
from regularly testing the automated persistent media creation process
of my app with the latest Debian Live I believe I do have a pretty
accurate view of what label Debian requires), you can find some at
https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/538665/314167.

I'll post some more about my testing as well as provide a link to that
additional issue I'm planning to open when I get a chance.

Or are you saying the purple screen reappears in Ubuntu 18.04 and 19.10,
but in 20.04 the BIOS logo goes black and then comes back? The latter is
actually bug 1836858.

So I will assume this is bug 1836858 in 20.04 unless you can take a
video of 20.04 showing a purple screen between two BIOS logos. In Ubuntu
19.10 and earlier it was bug 1861470.

The former looks like a programming error and I'd want to know where it comes

[Bug 1871353] [NEW] after split brain detection heartbeart service stops unexpectedly

2020-04-07 Thread Sebastian Alkemade
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Release
--
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
Release:16.04

heartbeat Package
-
heartbeat:
  Installed: 1:3.0.6-2
  Candidate: 1:3.0.6-2
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.0.6-2 500
500 http://mirror.hetzner.de/ubuntu/packages xenial/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Scenario Description

When heartbeat detects a split brain scenario a restart is triggered by the
heartbeat service itself.

Expectation
---
The heartbeat service should be running after a split brain scenario was
detected.

Obervation
--
The heartbeat service was no longer running after the split brain scenario.

Further Investigation
-
systemd detects the restart and executes the ExecStop action.
This behaviour is documented at
https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.service.html#ExecStop=

This problem most likely arises because of the automatically generated
systemctl service file (converted from the init.d script by systemd-
sysv-generator).

[Bug 1870946] Re: iwlwifi breaking on dell precision 7740 with Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 [8086:2723] subsystem [8086:4080]

2020-04-07 Thread You-Sheng Yang
So AX200 loads firmware iwlwifi-cc-a0-*.ucode, and that is currently of
rev 48 from commit 40e4162adfc9 ("iwlwifi: update FWs to core45-152
release") in Bionic/Eoan/Focal and korg/master HEAD. Updating fw from
these places won't help. However, could you test rev 50 from iwlwifi
/linux-firmware[1]?

By the way, I got a laptop with same AX200 [8086:2723] subsystem
[8086:4080], running exactly the same kernel 5.4.0-21-generic and linux-
firmware 1.187 but still cannot reproduce your problem, maybe you'll
need to report this issue to iwlwifi upstream as well. See [2].

[Bug 1871345] [NEW] FFE: Update Intel OpenCL stack, build with llvm-10

2020-04-07 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

This is a request for a pre-ack to allow updating the Intel OpenCL
stack to versions that work with the default llvm release in focal,
which is 10.

The problem right now is that a bug in llvm-10 prevents builds against
it in some packages like intel-opencl-clang, which in turn is a prereq
for the rest.

Updated components:

spirv-llvm-translator   9.0.0 -> 10.0.0
intel-opencl-clang  9.0.0 -> 10.0.0
intel-graphics-compiler 1.0.3151 -> 1.0.3627
intel-compute-runtime   20.02.15268 -> 20.13.16352 (~weekly releases)

We could update i-g-c and i-c-r that build with llvm-9 now, and rebuild
them later once i-o-c is updated. s-l-t update is already available on
Debian.

[Bug 1871067] Re: libreoffice doesn't start

2020-04-07 Thread Lee Clark
Fixed it!

The problem is caused by the package `mesa-opencl-icd` or one of its
dependencies.

I removed this package and its dependencies and now LibreOffie works
fine.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or expected.

As long as developers don't perform a code fix, (as a workaround) you
can change the format of your system to the "United States".

Go to "Settings -> Region & Language -> Formats" and change the format.

(more details is explained in
