[Bug 1875036] [NEW] bridge stops working on focal update

2020-04-25 Thread Javier Vilalta
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I don't know if this is the right package to report but: I have upgraded
to 20.04 from 18.04 and my network stopped working. Problem was that
bridge-utils package was uninstalled, so network was unable to start.
Reinstalling the package solved the problem. But I don't understand why
it was uninstalled. I have reviewed the release note for 20.04 and I
haven't seen the problem, so I'm reporting in case in can help anyone.

Regards

Well, lucky you. I'm on Ubuntu 20.04, LO 6.4.2.2 (also tested this in
Arch and Fedora 32) and SVG icons are still blurry like in barely-
recognizable-blurry.

[Bug 1874624] Re: Unable to boot 20.04 LTS installer on Dell XPS 15 9560

2020-04-25 Thread Attila T . Áfra
I have the same issue on my Dell XPS 15 9560. As soon as the graphical
interface would start, the system either shuts down or freezes
completely.

However, it does work if I boot Ubuntu in "safe graphics" mode, but this
way changing the display brightness and connecting external displays
don't work.

[Bug 1875031] [NEW] Installed snap Chromium not showing in activities overview

2020-04-25 Thread Mike Jensen
Public bug reported:

When I press the super key to open the activities overview, chromium
does not appear, and is not found when typing to search for apps.

Actually, no snap installed apps are shown in the activities overview.

I was able to make one app (spotify) show by symlinking its .desktop
file from /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications to
/usr/share/applications.

Strangely there is a chromium-browser.desktop file in
/usr/share/applications but it still doesn't show up in activities
overview.

The cloning version of usb-creator introduced with Ubuntu Xenial (16.04

Other cloning tools work, so if you want to bother with this bug, I
suggest that you port that version to Trusty.

[Bug 1875027] [NEW] Regional settings > language chosen during Kubuntu 20.04 installation is not present as default language (Plasma 5.18.4)

2020-04-25 Thread Val
Public bug reported:

I chose French as regional language during the installation of Kubuntu 20.04
(from a live USB key, "Try Ubuntu" installation mode).
On first reboot (I've not rebooted again yet), I noticed some applications were
displaying in English.
In Plasma systemsettings5 > Regional settings, the Language section only
displayed English.
I had to add French language in order to get the configuration that should
normally have been set by default.

Moreover (2nd bug), clicking the Add languages... button displayed a flickering
menu.
The workaround I found (to stop this unpleasant flickering effect) was to
maximize the systemsettings5 window. Then - only - could I select a language to
add.

[Bug 1850238] Re: ucsi_ccg 50 second hang while resuming from s2ram with nvidia, recent kernels

2020-04-25 Thread Nickolay Ponomarev
I'm not very familiar with the release process, but judging from the
tags on the accepted version of the fix
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/d944b27df121e2ee854a6c2fad13d6c6300792d4
the fix in mainline v5.6 and later: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-

[Bug 1875025] Re: Cannot enter password to unlock session

2020-04-25 Thread Jakub Vaněk
The bug may be related to
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16140. However, it seems that
they have resolved it by removing xscreensaver and I don't have
xscreensaver installed. On the other hand, I have light-locker installed
- this may be causing a similar conflict.

[Bug 1875025] [NEW] Cannot enter password to unlock session

2020-04-25 Thread Jakub Vaněk
Public bug reported:

When a timer triggers xfce4-screensaver and it locks the screen, it is
impossible to unlock it. I can log into LightDM but then I get stuck on
the locker's login screen. I would like to enter my password, but I
cannot - the password field is not editable, only its hint text can be
selected.

[Bug 1874842] Re: Fonts installed using msttfcorefonts package (ttf-mscorefonts-installer) are not detected by some sites

2020-04-25 Thread Juozas Pocius
After some googling & investigation I found out that Nimbus Sans substitutes
Helvetica when fonts-urw-base35 package is installed but it does not render
correctly on some sites compared to Soto Sans or Arial. Running 'fc-match
Helvetica' returns 'NimbusSans-Regular.otf: "Nimbus Sans" "Regular"'
Workaround would be to add an override to chrome/userContent.css file in the
profile folder and then restart the browser:
@font-face {
font-family: Helvetica;
src: local('Noto Sans');
}
Alternate method would be creating ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf xml file if
it doesn't exist and adding override there, but it would be not as easy
syntax-wise compared to the above method.

[Bug 1872200] Re: apt does not accept globs and regexes in some cases

2020-04-25 Thread Jakub Vaněk
Luckily, regular expression continue to work - they just have to start
with ^ or end with $. Therefore, the command above could be rewritten
as:

sudo apt install ^gnome-user-docs.*

While using the ^ character stops bash-completion from working, it is
still much better than no pattern matching at all.

[Bug 1875020] [NEW] Update Ukrainian language pack to fix mate-keyboard-properties crash

2020-04-25 Thread Yuri Chornoivan
Public bug reported:

It was recently found that some quirks in xkeyboard-config Ukrainian
translation crash mate-keyboard-properties widget. More on this;

https://github.com/mate-desktop/libmatekbd/issues/55

The problems in translation were recently fixed upstream and on LP.

Can you be so kind and respin the Ukrainian lang-pack with an updated
xkeyboard-config.mo?

Thanks in advance for your attention.

[Bug 1874104] Re: Very slow boot, wake from sleep and shutdown with 5.4 kernel

2020-04-25 Thread Jouni Mettala
This bug is introduced between v5.2 and v5.3-rc1. Further bisecting
means compiling kernel. Note that stable versions like 5.2.21 are
generally not bisected.

Could you report login bug as new one? Just like you reported this one. Perhaps
via ubuntu-bug linux. It could be reported with working kernel. Then you can
add dmesg later. It would help to know if it is possible to login using v5.6
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.6/

2020-04-25 Thread Nicolás Abel Carbone

[Bug 1871721] Re: Second Monitor doesn't work as it should do with Nvidia & Ubuntu 20.04?

2020-04-25 Thread Sindile XJ Bidla
I am also unable to get my second monitor to work with the upgrade from
18.04 to 20.04

It used to work with 18.04 using the nouveau drivers

I did try to include nomodeset in grub but the graphics became very
sluggish

Any ideas on how I could address this?

I am using Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro
Graphic card Nvidia GTX960M & Intel HD Graphics 530

What is not clear as well is it recommended to use nouveau drivers or
proprietary drivers?

I tested the kernel from comment 34 and my computer is no longer
crashing. With this kernel, it is possible to use default Xubuntu,
without changing Xorg session or xfwm4 vblank_mode.

What I noticed is that there are 1330 dmesg errors like:

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1793152 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793152

4 years later and 2 lts versions later, we still do not have a simple
progress to format a disk, I have been formatting a 1tb disk for 5 hours
and I must guess when it will be ready. Then they complain about why
Windows has more users than Linux if they ignore such basic things as
this or put a brightness selector on the screen in desktop mode.

[Bug 1875015] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 and Displaylink is extremely slow

2020-04-25 Thread Krisztian Poos
Public bug reported:

Using ubuntu 20.04 on displaylink docking with external monitor is
totally slow, unusable. The GUI responds very slow, if you click, the
command of the click goes on after about 3 seconds... if you type, all
the letters are with the same lag, so it is totally unusable.

Was using displaylink without any problem on 19.10 until yesterday, when I
upgraded to 20.04.
It is terrific.

If i plug out the usb for the displaylink docking station, than the
speed is back, and the system is ok, if I connect it to the docking
station again, everything extremely slow again.

Please investigate this asap, as it is unusable on displaylink docking
stations.

[Bug 1835024] Re: Links triggered within most snap apps open in a separate browser session

2020-04-25 Thread vic
I can confirm that this bug exists on a fresh install of 20.04 as well.

Changing the firefox profile to that of `default-release` for the
firefox session opened via Slack solves the problem but it would be
wonderful if it could work seamlessly out of the box :)

[Bug 1605813] Re: lock screen freezes while trying to wake from suspend

2020-04-25 Thread Toby Dimmick
I'm experiencing this again, now without AC power (I think that was a
red herring).

It seems to be if I:
- Reboot
- Close the lid (which suspends the machine)
- Reopen the list

I've also noticed that certain things still render. If I plug/unplug the
AC adapter, I will continue to see "battery charging/discharging"
notification popups.

Additionally, I had a log file open on the screen in VS Code. I changed
the contents of this file from ctrl-alt-f1 virtual console, then
switched back to my graphical session, and the displayed text in VS Code
updated!

But I still could not interact with anything on-screen, beyond moving
the mouse (no mouseover animations, nothing happens when clicking with
touchpad or mouse, no keyboard response).

Attached dmesg output - session suspend/wake is the last ~60 lines.

[Bug 1874623] Re: Mozilla Thunderbird package is not properly installed

2020-04-25 Thread MsHmm
I can only reproduce this bug unfortunately. It happened when I did a
clean mininal install of Kubuntu on the 23rd. Not seeing Thunderbird in
the menu, I tried "sudo apt install thunderbird", to be told that it was
already installed. In fact, the following were all installed:
"thunderbird thunderbird-locale-en thunderbird-locale-en-gb thunderbird-
locale-en-us". Running "sudo apt install --reinstall thunderbird" fixed
the missing menu entry.

I've since downloaded via torrent another Kubuntu 20.04 ISO and tried it
in VirtualBox. For me, choosing the minimal install option (whether I've
clicked try Ubuntu first and loaded the desktop, or clicked try Ubuntu
now) still leads to no Thunderbird entry in the menu.

[Bug 1874522] Re: Crash installing

2020-04-25 Thread Alex
I've just had exactly the same problem trying to make a fresh install from a
bootable USB created with Ubuntu 18.04 Startup Disk Creator tool.
The option I chose was a fresh install using an entire SSD disk and ZFS
filesystem.
After the crash I killed ubiquity and a desktop session was opened. I launched
the installation again and it went ok.
Both times I chose exactly the same install options, the only difference is
that during my first installation attempt which failed I tried to open
different install options several times but didn't proceed and just pressed
Back to go to the main install option menu.
Thanks
