[Bug 1369231] Re: do-release-upgrade in localized environment does not accept english input

[Bug 1875771] Re: ipmi_locate segfault on Focal
Hi Paride... I did some additional testing and so far I have started seeing a pattern. The failing systems (the segfaulting ones) are all Dells with iDRAC6 (they're older Dells, 11G). I have one newer Dell system and it did not segfault. I also ran on HP, Supermicro, Quanta and Lenovo systems without issue. It seems limited to the older Dells with iDRAC6. These are systems in my test lab, so I'm happy to run commands and such if it helps, just let me know if there's anything you may need from me. I wish ipmi-locate had some debug output... I'd have provided that if so. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875771 Title: ipmi_locate segfault on Focal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freeipmi/+bug/1875771/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1875445] Re: Volume slider doesn't produce sound
I just reproduced it and it is easy to reproduce, and I think this is a new design on purpose in the gnome. If there is no other audio apps (sink-inputs in the pulseaudio) than "System Sounds" (#7), the adjustment volume slider will produce sound to indicate the current output volume. If there are other audio apps (#8), they will replace the "System Sounds" when adjusting the volume slider. e.g. I run 'speaker-test -t wav -c 2' in a terminal, this audio app will replace the "System Sounds" when adjusting the volume slider, and the volume change is indicated by speaker-test instead of "System Sounds"; After I close the speaker-test, then the sound will come back to "System sounds" when adjusting the volume slider. So If you close those two audio apps with the name of "speech- dispatcher-", the sound will be back to "System sounds". So I think we should close this bug as invaliad? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875445 Title: Volume slider doesn't produce sound To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1875445/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1875252] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS update causing no sound coming from built-in speakers
I did that but there isn't /tmp folder containing pulseaudio.log. There is a tmp folder but it does not contain any pulseaudio.log. The only file related to pulse is pulseverbose.log in the home folder. If that file can help at all, I'm attaching it to these comment. Otherwise, I keep waiting for further instructions. ** Attachment added: "pulseverbose.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1875252/+attachment/5364854/+files/pulseverbose.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875252 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS update causing no sound coming from built-in speakers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1875252/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1876415] [NEW] Fonts in the GNOME shell not shown.
Public bug reported: GNOME does not show any text in the DE itself. Examples of text that is missing: The activities button on the top left, date and time, text of notifications, authentication dialogs, the telegram icon not displaying the number of unread messages, searches in the search bar. The text however is drawn in applications that are not an integral part of the shell itself, such as the settings application, terminals, Firefox, Rhythmbox, GNOME System montior. The bug appeared seemingly out of nowhere, can be worked around though pretty easily by chainging the fonts of the user interface in the GNOME tweak tool. The problem reappears, if the user interface fonts are changed back to the fonts which were not appearing on the screen originally. Changing the font size does not fix the problem. [Bug 1825766] Re: search results don't match apt search
@stuardo: The reason for Guake being missing is that the `guake.desktop` file in `/usr/share/applications` is a symbolic link *and* the application doesn't ship a metainfo file. This is forbidden: https://wiki.debian.org/AppStream/Guidelines The .desktop file being a symlink results in Guake basically not being seen by the metadata generator at all. To fix this, either the .desktop file needs to be an actual file, and not a symlink, or a metainfo file[1] has to be shipped with this package. Ideally both. The reason this package is missing is simply a result of nobody caring enough to submit a patch or do a bit of work to make this app show up for a few years now (it never was in the catalog, as far as I can tell). Maybe a good case for a patch submission? ;-) [1]: https://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/metainfocreator/#/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1825766 Title: search results don't match apt search To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1825766/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1824874] Re: undismissable, unclickable authentication dialog left on screen (top-left corner) after policykit authentication [pushModal: invocation of begin_modal failed]
I also just experienced this same bug on fresh install of Focal 20.04. I don't have Yubikey. Since the appearance of the window is delayed from whatever triggers it, I don't know what the cause is. The behavior is as other describes, a orphaned window on top left corner of screen, clicking the window results in whatever is underneath being clicked. Logging out and relogging makes the window disappear. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1824874 Title: undismissable, unclickable authentication dialog left on screen (top- left corner) after policykit authentication [pushModal: invocation of begin_modal failed] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1824874/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1875271] Re: Virtualbox install via apt install has errors
I have usually used VboxHeadless to start vm's via systemd unit files, But I guess some use it for some vrdp functionality. Anyway, VboxManage can do almost the same thing. For me the only change was adding RemainAfterExit=yes in my unit file and changing VboxHeadless --startvm debian to VboxManage command instead. Just wanted to add this in. I briefly looked into Oracle's documentation and also found an old post on there forums mentioning VboxHeadless is the preferred way to start vm's this way. Anyway, works for now. ""This is the recommended way, because when starting the headless interface through VBoxManage, you will not be able to view or log messages that VBoxHeadless may have output on the console. Especially in case of startup errors, such output might be desirable for problem diagnosis.""
