[Bug 1874846] Re: Keyboard stops responding in kernel 5.3.0-46, but 5.3.0-45 works
Following a full BIOS / firmware update on this NUC (which was 5 years out of date), I have had a stable kernel 5.3.0-46 on the system for up to 8 hours a day for most of a week. My guess therefore is that a feature update in the kernel had been tripping a previously fixed BIOS or microcode fault in the hardware. Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 17.10 (artful) reached end-of-life on July 19, 2018. Please also follow these instructions to help us identify the crash: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) => mutter (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: wayland (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877568 Title: WL: compositor bug: The compositor tried to use an object from one client in a 'wl_pointer.enter' for a different client (resulting in Gnome terminal crashing) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1877568/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1877932] [NEW] Bluetooth not connecting to last paired device when enabling bluetooth
Public bug reported: I am using a Dell Lattitude E7470 laptop. I am trying to connect a Bluetooth headset (Anker). I am seeing this issue with the latest upgrade to the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS version. I have a Bluetooth headset which is paired with the machine. Given the Bluetooth is enabled in the Ubuntu machine and I switch on my Bluetooth headset, the ubuntu machine does not automatically connect to this device anymore. It used to do it very easily with 18.04,19.04 and 19.10 ubuntu version. I have to do a variety of steps to get it connected: * turn off and on the headset. * turn off and on the laptop bluetooth. * try manully connecting to the device from the setting menu multiple times. * Sometimes it detects and get connected automatically as it should. [Bug 1877633] Re: libseccomp 2.4.3 (and 2.4.2) is not correctly resolving (at least) the getrlimit syscall on arm64
When generating the list of systems calls for aarch64, libseccomp uses the generic kernel API headers rather than the architecture specific ones - and so misses the definitions of getrlimit, setrlimit and clone3 for aarch64 - if this is changed to use arch-specific headers then we can regenerate the syscalls.csv and these are now present as expected. [Bug 1877617] Re: Automatic scans cause instability for cloud use cases
Alright, this *new feature* (which is actually fixing an unwanted behavior) has the following section added to iscsid.conf: # To prevent doing automatic scans that would add unwanted luns to the system # we can disable them and have sessions only do manually requested scans. # Automatic scans are performed on startup, on login, and on AEN/AER reception # on devices supporting it. For HW drivers all sessions will use the value # defined in the configuration file. This configuration option is independent # of scsi_mod scan parameter. (The default behavior is auto): node.session.scan = auto And this makes it to have the exact same behavior as before this fix, so this makes it suitable for SRU. I'm doing the merge requests and will link to this bug. [Bug 1396379] Re: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise
A workaround is not relevant because the users that are hit by this bug don't know that they need a workaround until it is too late. I don't remember ever installing Linux and knowing beforehand that I need to apply a workaround to circumvent the installer. I know I sound like a broken record (see my previous comment here), but the whole point of this bug is that the installer is lying to end-users. It presents an option to choose a boot device and then ignores that choice and severely damages the laptop. Consider that not all users are highly technical and know how to use gparted or mount, or what are boot flags. All they want is Ubuntu on their usb flash drive. It can cause a great deal of aggravation to fix a bricked laptop (and potential loss of money too). It also definitely reduces those users trust and engagement with Ubuntu. Personally, I don't think that adding more details to the installer like another warning message is an adequate solution. The solution has to be one of two things: 1) Fix the option to choose boot device correctly 2) or remove this option from the installer completely until you are ready to support it properly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1396379 Title: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1396379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1872863] Re: QEMU/KVM display is garbled when booting from kernel EFI stub due to missing bochs-drm module
I went and looked at the autopkgtest regressions, and they aren't actual regressions, just transient network problems and slow build timeouts. chrony autopkgtest regression on armhf: Need to get 263 kB of archives. Maybe the arm64 build host was having a bad day. I think the autopkgtests just need to be re-run. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872863 Title: QEMU/KVM display is garbled when booting from kernel EFI stub due to missing bochs-drm module To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmod/+bug/1872863/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1872863] Re: QEMU/KVM display is garbled when booting from kernel EFI stub due to missing bochs-drm module
I repeated the same SRU verification as before, this time using kmod from -proposed. I installed a fresh Bionic KVM, with EFI enabled. I upgraded the system to use the latest -updates packages. Linux 4.15.0-99-generic and Kmod 24-1ubuntu3.3 were installed. I shut the machine down, set the VGA device to vga=std, and rebooted. The screen was garbled and unreadable. I then ssh'd in, enabled -proposed, and installed Linux 4.15.0-100-generic, and kmod 24-1ubuntu3.4. I rebooted, and the display came up great, and was perfectly readable. Attached screenshot as proof.
