2020-05-29 Thread Kai Kasurinen
cjson (1.7.10-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Take over package maintenance. (Closes: #958656)
  * debian/control:
+ Bump Standards-Version to 4.5.0.
+ Bump debhelper compat to v13.
+ Update URL in Vcs-* packaging repository.
  * debian/libcjson-dev.install: Also install cmake/pkgconfig files.

[Bug 1873403] Re: [nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling values

2020-05-29 Thread Dave H
I have a possible related problem with Ubuntu-mate 20.04. I adjusted my
mouse pointer size (Dell Inspiron 7995 with Nvidia GTX 960M graphics)
the screen went black mouse pointer frozen, 10 seconds later the login
screen appears. If I log back in again the screen is black and I'm stuck
in an endless loop.

[Bug 1779736] Re: umask ignored on NFSv4.2 mounts

2020-05-29 Thread Richard Laager
seth-arnold, the ZFS default is actltype=off, which means that ACLs are
disabled. (I don't think the NFSv4 ACL support in ZFS is wired up on
Linux.) It's not clear to me why this is breaking with ACLs off.

[Bug 1863434] Re: 20.04 grub menu not visible

2020-05-29 Thread Tyler
Another person affected by this bug chiming in.
My set-up is a Lenovo T440s with UEFI-only booting. Latest BIOS/firmware.
Secure boot is disabled. Grub menu appears fine on Debian itself, but with
Ubuntu I've had this issue since around 19.04, IIRC.

@siepo2
Removing that font is the first time I've been able to see the grub menu
without forcing `console` mode in `/etc/default/grub` OR enabling legacy
boot/CMS boot options. I only had to remove the font from `/boot/grub/fonts`,
the other location didn't seem to make a difference. Thank you! (And they are
right, it's not pretty but it works).

I don't think it's directly related to the font, though. It's the same
exact font found in Debian's grub-common package, but I do not have this
same bug on a Debian installs on the same hardware.

 E: python-rtslib-fb source: package-uses-debhelper-but-lacks-build-depends
 E: python-rtslib-fb source: missing-build-dependency debhelper

(As is usual, I'm not entirely sure why the tooling spits out two
different sets of issues; some may be related to a lintian from focal
rather than devel.)

[Bug 1881372] [NEW] Mouse cursor fbecame stuck in the "drag and drop mode" when I grabbed files from archive manager and attempted to drag to nautilus.

2020-05-29 Thread Seija Kijin
Public bug reported:

When I attempted to drag the contents of the gcc subfolder in the
gcc-10.1.0 source from a .xz file in archive manager and drop the
results in the gcc subfolder of the extracted archive in nautilus, the
cursor became stuck in the "drag and drop" mode without initiating the
drag and drop. In this state, I was unable to click anything, and the
enter button would be ignored, preventing me from entering any commands,
forcing me to do a hard reboot.

I thought I might have to get into Grub to select mainline kernel (do
I?), but either way right now the machine boots up fine with the DVD
drive in.

Although when booting I get the messages shown in the attached
screenshot about 'bootconfig' being found on the command line, but no
bootconfig found

On Dell Latitude 5500 laptop, dual-boot Ubuntu/Windows, Ubuntu 20.04
64-bit, 5.4.0-33-generic, Ubuntu boot stops with blank screen when the
laptop is unplugged, even in recovery mode.

After plugging in power after a failed boot, the following message is shown
before the splash screen:
[ 0.468311] Initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed
/dev/nvme-n1p6: clean, 470502/4800512 files, 6138995/1920 blocks

As long as the laptop is plugged in before selecting Ubuntu in GRUB, it
will boot, but it never finishes booting if it is unplugged, even in
recovery mode. It also occurred in Ubuntu 19.10.

When the boot freezes even in recovery mode, the bug should be reported
against the kernel according to this page:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#During_boot

I can see : "JavaScript Message: Uncaught ReferenceError: $ is not

[Bug 1880032] Re: [linux-azure] Enable Hibernation on The 18.04 and 20.04 5.4 Kernels

2020-05-29 Thread Dexuan Cui
There is another important bug fix for hibernation:
net/mlx5: Fix crash upon suspend/resume
(https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net.git/commit/?id=8fc3e29be9248048f449793502c15af329f35c6e).

So far the fix is only present in the net.git tree, but I expect it will
be in the mainline tree’s v5.8-rc1 (or even v5.7, if we’re lucky).

Please consider picking it up. Thanks!

2020-05-29 Thread Kai Kasurinen
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org. For help
on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

Note my config is also now using the macaddress parameter as mentioned

[Bug 1881364] [NEW] broken kerning

2020-05-29 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am just trying to debug a problem with impress I have after upgrading
from 18.04 to 20.04:

On some, not on all slides, text becomes

- unreadable due to negative kerning, i.e. characters are shifted so
close together that they are overlapping

- one slide even invisible.

Strangely, the effect occurs
- with libreoffice as a debian package
- with libreoffice as an AppImage downloaded from libreoffice.org
- *but not* with libreoffice as a snap (which doesn't solve the problem because
of other problems of accessing local fonts)

Unfortunately, I can't give the slides as an example, they're strictly
confidential. But I'm trying to build an example.

Just to bring people together who experience the same problem.

[Bug 1881363] [NEW] Informal date format: wrong time shown

2020-05-29 Thread Stefan Pöschel
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu MATE 18.04.4
Package version: 1.20.2-4ubuntu1

This issue is only present when the "informal" date format is set. This
format is the last entry in the format dropdown i.e. the "today at
14:23:45" format - the two other date formats are not affected. You also
have to switch the view to "list" mode, in order to see the "modified
date" column.

The issue affects all files that were last modified neither today nor
yesterday. For these files, the correct date is shown. But instead of
the time of the file itself, the current wall clock time is displayed!
So whenever an update of the shown timestamp is triggered, the time is
replaced by the current time (as time goes by).

See the attached screenshot for an example. As one can see, many files
have the very same time, though having different dates. Exceptions are,
as said, files that were modified today ("heute") or yesterday
("gestern") - they have the expected time.

I had a look at the code and it seems that the bug is located in
"libcaja-private/caja-file.c" in the function
"caja_file_fit_date_as_string". While for the two other date formats
everything is fine, the retrieval of the "informal" format is a bit more
complex. It involes a call to localtime which returns a pointer to
struct tm. This pointer is cached for later use. However, the manpage
for ctime warns: "The return value points to a statically allocated
struct which might be overwritten by subsequent calls to any of the date
and time functions." This seems to happen here, due to later date/time
operations.

I'm not sure whether this has already been fixed in later versions, as
the Git history shows later refactoring. At least as a quick fix for
this version, here localtime_r instead of localtime could be used.

[Bug 1881362] [NEW] doesn't work in 20.04

2020-05-29 Thread randomdave
Public bug reported:

This Caja extension doesn't work for me in 20.04. Formerly, in 19.10, I
could right click a file with a .pgp extension and a decrypt option was
available. I purged the extension and reinstalled it to be sure it was
there. libcaja-seahorse is enabled in caja-file-management-properties.

If I do

$ mate-seahorse-tool -d

I see the the windows I expect and can decrypt the file.

Any idea why I have to go to the command line for this now?

[Bug 1879592] Re: Netplan does not apply at boot after upgrade to 20.04

2020-05-29 Thread Jim Pye
@ddstreet

I have rebooted both a VM and the original machine without my work
around of the macaddress option in the bridge configuration and they are
both now working on the reboot.

I can see from the apt/history.log that between first reporting this
issue and now, the systemd:amd64 package was updated:

Start-Date: 2020-05-27  17:36:34
Commandline: apt-get dist-upgrade

systemd-container:amd64 (245.4-4ubuntu3, 245.4-4ubuntu3.1)
End-Date: 2020-05-27  17:37:03

So for me this issue has now been resolved.

Thanks for your efforts
Jim

Hi Ryan,

Thanks. I've found the problem; working on a fix next week.

Could you please provide/upload the output of these commands?
I can get those from the crashdump, but need to double check.

$ sudo grep ^ /sys/block/*/queue/*_block_size >
lp1867916-queue_block_size 2>&1

$ sudo bcache-super-show /dev/md0  > lp1867916-bcache-super-show.md 2>&1
$ sudo bcache-super-show /dev/sda1 > lp1867916-bcache-super-show.sd 2>&1

P.S.: usind md0 and sda1 per your comment #9, "---> bcache0: md0 + sda1"
please adjust if needed.

cheers,
Mauricio

+ The suggested fix only change the test, not the ftrace code. From the nature
of the test, the change would hardly prevent us from detecting other hard

[Bug 1881350] Re: aws m6g.large: Reported install problem for "core18"

2020-05-29 Thread Joshua Powers
Removing libc6-lse and rebooting allows snap to seed properly and cloud-
init to finish. Adding glibc (Ubuntu) task.

** Also affects: glibc (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

  Summary
  =
  When launching a m6g.large AWS instance with the daily groovy image I see
messages about failing to install the seeded snaps, which prevents installing
any snaps. This also appears to stop cloud-init from completing:

  May 29 20:53:37 ip-172-31-44-36 snapd[622]: daemon.go:343: started
snapd/2.44.3+20.04 (series 16; classic) ubuntu/20.10 (arm64) linux/5.4.>

compare the snap system key: system-key missing on disk

  May 29 20:18:23 ip-10-0-0-79 snapd[1160]: handlers.go:495: Reported install
problem for "core18" as 8b6d20b2-a1e9-11ea-a54f-fa163e6cac46 OOPSID

  Expected behavior
  =
- $ sudo snap install hello-world
+ $ sudo snap install hello-world

  $ snap list

  Actual behavior
  =
- $ sudo snap install hello-world
+ $ sudo snap install hello-world
  error: too early for operation, device not yet seeded or device model not
acknowledged
  $ snap list
  No snaps are installed yet. Try 'snap install hello-world'.

  Logs
  =
  $ journalctl --system -u snapd
  https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/j5w6mJcnfw/

  $ cat /var/lib/snapd/seed/seed.yaml
  https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/RzRSzW8Ch4/

  $ apt-cache policy snapd
  snapd:
-   Installed: 2.44.3+20.04
-   Candidate: 2.44.3+20.04
+   Installed: 2.44.3+20.04
+   Candidate: 2.44.3+20.04

  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu Groovy Gorilla (development branch)
  Release:  20.10

  Workaround
  =
- After running the following cloud-init completes and I am able to install
snaps. The seeded snaps however, are not installed:
-
- $ sudo apt autoremove --purge snapd
- $ sudo apt install snapd
+ Removing libc6-lse and rebooting allows snap to seed properly and cloud-init
to finish

  Steps to reproduce
  =
  Launch a m6g.large with the daily 20.10 (Groovy) image via something like:

  $ aws ec2 run-instances --image-id ami-0a5082576164ab1f7 --count 1
  --instance-type m6g.large --key-name $keyname --security-group-ids
  $security-group --subnet-id $subnet-id

  Or you can also do this via the AWS UI by searching for the following
  image name where you update the ending serial as appropriate:

  Failing images:
  ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200529.1
  ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200529
  ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200528
  ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200519

  Working image:
  ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200514

For me the machine I installed 20.04 on is a host for Virtual Machines
and I have installed Livepatch on to minimise the reboots. :)

I will have a look at testing this on a VM on this machine and get back.

[Bug 1881357] [NEW] abstractions/X needs new ICEauthority path

2020-05-29 Thread Daniel Richard G.
Public bug reported:

This concerns apparmor 2.13.3-7ubuntu5 in Ubuntu focal.

Saw this during a Firefox test run:

May 29 17:25:32 test-ubuntu64 kernel: [  818.399967] audit: type=1400
audit(1590787532.023:69): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open"
profile="firefox" name="/run/user/1000/ICEauthority" pid=1791
comm="firefox" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=1000 ouid=1000

This comparison was interesting:

$ ls -l ~/.ICEauthority /run/user/1000/ICEauthority
-rw--- 1 skunk skunk   0 May 29 17:43 /home/skunk/.ICEauthority
-rw--- 1 skunk skunk 350 May 29 17:43 /run/user/1000/ICEauthority

Is the /run path a new canonical location for the ICEauthority file? The
X abstraction would need to know about it.

[Bug 1880710] Re: [snap] Tab goes blank even after reloads (and no refresh is happening)

2020-05-29 Thread Natalia Bidart
Hey Oliver, thanks for your attention to this bug.

The issue happened again, I tried to open a google doc, new url and new
tab, and it does not render. Again, I checked for refreshes and all I
have is:

nessita@dali:~$ date
Fri 29 May 2020 06:42:07 PM -03

nessita@dali:~$ snap changes
ID   Status  Spawn   Ready   Summary
128  Donetoday at 01:30 -03  today at 01:31 -03  Auto-refresh snap "lxd"

nessita@dali:~$

I have only 2 extensions installed: pagerduty and thegreatsuspender. The
latter was updated this morning without showing any issue after update.
I opened many new tabs since the update (that was about 5 hours ago).

I tried another new tab, and as before I do get the browser title set
and there are a few google redirects that happens, but the final
doc/page is never shown, I only get a blank page.

Can I provide any extra information to keep debugging this issue?

[Bug 1881355] [NEW] Game freezes on screen resolution change.

2020-05-29 Thread David
Public bug reported:

I am using a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 and a fresh install of d2x-
rebirth via apt-get (although I have the same error when using snap via
the software center).

d2x isn't running at 1600x900 by default like d1x is and is instead
running at 640x480. When I try to change it the game freezes and half
takes my desktop environment with it.

The file "gamelog.txt" is empty, and there are no reported errors when I
kill the process.

While the game is frozen I can still press my meta key to zoom out of
all windows, but switching to any other app just shows me the frozen
game screen and I can't see what I'm doing in the application that now
has focus. For example, I can zoom out, open a text editor, switch to
it, then blindly type into the editor while seeing only the switch game
resolution screen. In fact, almost everything I do leaves me with a
black/frozen game screen, including switching to other terminals via
Ctrl+Shift+SomeFKey.

The only way I've found out of the game screen is to press Ctrl+Shift+F1
to go back to my lock screen, then, and only from there, will pressing
Ctrl+Shift+F3 work to get me to a terminal. If I press Ctrl+Shift+F2 I
go right back to my desktop and the game screen. Once at a terminal I
can sign in and kill the process, then switch back to my lock screen and
safely sign into my desktop. However, I then have to open my system
settings because my screen is still at 640k480 even though Ubuntu thinks
I'm still at my default of 1600x900. I have to switch to some other
resolution, then right back in order to restore my desktop to normal.

Also, (don't know if it's related) but the robot previews in the mission
briefing screens aren't showing up. I noticed that while trying to get
into a new game to make it freeze. I can put in a new bug report for
that though.

[Bug 1881350] [NEW] aws m6g.large: Reported install problem for "core18"

2020-05-29 Thread Joshua Powers
Public bug reported:

Summary
=
When launching a m6g.large AWS instance with the daily groovy image I see
messages about failing to install the seeded snaps, which prevents installing
any snaps. This also appears to stop cloud-init from completing:

May 29 20:53:37 ip-172-31-44-36 snapd[622]: daemon.go:343: started
snapd/2.44.3+20.04 (series 16; classic) ubuntu/20.10 (arm64) linux/5.4.>
May 29 20:53:38 ip-172-31-44-36 snapd[622]: helpers.go:105: error trying to
compare the snap system key: system-key missing on disk

May 29 20:18:22 ip-10-0-0-79 snapd[1160]: handlers.go:495: Reported install
problem for "lxd" as 8b6d20b0-a1e9-11ea-a54f-fa163e6cac46 OOPSID
May 29 20:18:23 ip-10-0-0-79 snapd[1160]: handlers.go:495: Reported install
problem for "core18" as 8b6d20b2-a1e9-11ea-a54f-fa163e6cac46 OOPSID

Expected behavior
=
$ sudo snap install hello-world

$ snap list

Actual behavior
=
$ sudo snap install hello-world
error: too early for operation, device not yet seeded or device model not
acknowledged
$ snap list
No snaps are installed yet. Try 'snap install hello-world'.

Logs
=
$ journalctl --system -u snapd
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/j5w6mJcnfw/

$ cat /var/lib/snapd/seed/seed.yaml
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/RzRSzW8Ch4/

$ apt-cache policy snapd
snapd:
  Installed: 2.44.3+20.04
  Candidate: 2.44.3+20.04

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu Groovy Gorilla (development branch)
Release:20.10

Workaround
=
After running the following cloud-init completes and I am able to install
snaps. The seeded snaps however, are not installed:

$ sudo apt autoremove --purge snapd
$ sudo apt install snapd

Steps to reproduce
=
Launch a m6g.large with the daily 20.10 (Groovy) image via something like:

$ aws ec2 run-instances --image-id ami-0a5082576164ab1f7 --count 1
--instance-type m6g.large --key-name $keyname --security-group-ids
$security-group --subnet-id $subnet-id

Or you can also do this via the AWS UI by searching for the following
image name where you update the ending serial as appropriate:

Failing images:
ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200529.1
ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200529
ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200528
ubuntu/images-testing/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-groovy-daily-arm64-server-20200519

Working image:

[Bug 1881294] Re: Apparmor blocks evince GUI-Input-Dialogs

2020-05-29 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello Reinhard, please see the
/etc/apparmor.d/tunables/home.d/site.local file, it describes how to add
additional paths to the @{HOMEDIRS} variable, which should allow evince,
and all other profiles that use @{HOME}, to function in your
environment.

Thanks
