A SRU to Focal would be greatly appreciated as dehydrated (Let's Encrypt

doesn't need to to be renewed just yet:

Having the full output would be nice :) Count on me for a focal-proposed

[Bug 1884846] Re: Can't connect to internet if second user session

2020-06-26 Thread Facundo Batista
Hello Sebastien,

I'm admin, yes. `groups` gives me: facundo adm cdrom sudo dip plugdev
lpadmin lxd sambashare

I did not try to activate any specific connection: it's just NM trying
to connect to one of its saved WiFis when starting the session.

I don't have gnome to try it.

2020-06-26 Thread Franco
TEMPORARY WORKAROUND

** Description changed:

  I'm using

    dhcp4-overrides:
  use-dns: false
    dhcp6: no
    nameservers:
  addresses: addresses: [1.1.1.1,8.8.8.8,1.0.0.1,8.8.4.4]

but after applying i get this dns

  200.42.xxx.xxx 200.49.xxx.xxx 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8

the first 2 are provided by the router DNS. Why?

Also notice that Ubuntu ignores the use-dns: false graphically and check the
option as automatic. If I turn OFF that, the DNS work just as intended.

[Bug 1885142] Re: [MIR] libubootenv-tool, libubootenv0.1

2020-06-26 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
[Summary]
This is s small and safe library, mostly based on code that was in main before.
It is ok to be promoted (MIR Team Ack) once the following points are resolved.
Incomplete until those are resolved ...

Required before promotion:
- the foundations-team needs to be subscribed to src:libubootenv.

Optional, but recommended before promotion:
- fix d/watch
- provide a symbols file even for a 0.1 lib if it seems reasonable

[Duplication]
OK:
Function wise this has two purposes:
- library (doesn't exist in other places)
- tools fw_printenv fw_setenv were in u-boot but removed from there.
No duplication issue

[Dependencies]
OK:
- no other Dependencies to MIR due to this
- a -dev packages that seems ok to promote as well

[Embedded sources and static linking]
OK:
- no embedded source present
- no static linking

[Security]
OK:
- history of CVEs does not look concerning
- does not run a daemon as root
- does not use webkit1,2
- does not use lib*v8 directly
- does not open a port
- does not process arbitrary web content
- does not use centralized online accounts
- does not integrate arbitrary javascript into the desktop
- does not deal with system authentication (eg, pam), etc)

Problems:
- does parse data formats, but in a really non introusive way
and based on u-boot code that already was reviewed and in main.
That alone doesn't make it need a security review IMHO.

[Common blockers]
OK:
- does not FTBFS currently
- no translation present, but none needed for this case (user visible)?
- not a python package, no extra constraints to consider int hat regard
- no new python2 dependency
- No Python/Go package

Problems:
- does not have a test suite that runs at build time
- does not have a test suite that runs as autopkgtest

This is bit weak, but I agree that it is tested in all
the arm/Pi booting implicitly.

- The package has a team bug subscriber
That is a real issue that needs to be fixed before promotion

[Packaging red flags]
OK:
- Ubuntu does not carry a delta
- Upstream update history is (good/slow/sporadic)
- Debian/Ubuntu update history is (good/slow/sporadic)
- the current release is packaged
- promoting this does not seem to cause issues for MOTUs that so far
  maintained the package
- no massive Lintian warnings
- d/rules is rather clean
- Does not have Built-Using

Problems:
- symbols tracking not applicable for this kind of code.
Yeah it could be done, but it is intentionally a 0.1 to reflect it isn't
stable yet
Never the less it is almost no cost and helps to realize changes
- d/watch is present and looks ok
The current entries do not work
  uscan info: Requesting URL:
   https://github.com/sbabic/libubootenv
  uscan info: Matching pattern:
 (?:(?:https://github.com)?\/sbabic\/libubootenv)?.*/v?(\d\S*)\.tar\.gz
uscan warn: In debian/watch no matching files for watch line
https://github.com/sbabic/libubootenv .*/v?(\d\S*)\.tar\.gz

[Upstream red flags]
OK:
- no Errors/warnings during the build
- no incautious use of malloc/sprintf (as far as I can check it)
- no use of sudo, gksu, pkexec, or LD_LIBRARY_PATH
- no use of user nobody
- no use of setuid
- no important open bugs (crashers, etc) in Debian or Ubuntu
- no dependency on webkit, qtwebkit, seed or libgoa-*
- no embedded source copies
- not part of the UI for extra checks

[Bug 1828107] Re: gvfs can't list shares from smb servers that disabled SMB1

2020-06-26 Thread JORGETECH
I believe the real issue is that libsmbclient is still using the
SMB1/NT1 protocol as the maximum, the issue should be solved upstream
since SMB1 is deprecated (disabled by default in newer Samba server
versions).

[Bug 1885270] [NEW] Touchpad stopped working after upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04

2020-06-26 Thread Lokesh Bamb
Public bug reported:

When I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04 my touchpad stopped working. When I used
the command xinput to list the input devices there was a PS/2 Generic
Mouse registered instead of my Lenovo Yoga 13 touchpad. I tried to
search for the same on the askubuntu forum. I got the answer that to try
and remove psmouse and then again add it using the command

sudo modprobe -r psmouse; sudo modprobe psmouse

This initially solved my problem but later on the same issue arose after
restarting the machine. The touchpad also is again reported as a generic
mouse if the system is suspended.

[Bug 1885142] Re: [MIR] libubootenv-tool, libubootenv0.1

2020-06-26 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
The code in the new src:libubootenv was split out from
src:u-boot/binary:u-boot-tools
=>
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/u-boot/-/commit/4c0c35319da4855b54a651c57be22d9de0740f1a
and had some transition pain, e.g.:
=> https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=939598

This isn't exactly the same code so it is worth a deeper check (if it would
just be a split we could approve on the base of the old MIR).
Fortunately it isn't a lot of code ...

[Bug 1885269] [NEW] ussuri: unable to stop and start an instance post upgrade

2020-06-26 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

bionic or focal with OpenStack Ussuri.

The latest version of the nova package sets permissions on package
update for /var/lib/nova:

  find /var/lib/nova -exec chown nova:nova "{}" +
  find /var/lib/nova -type f -exec chmod 0640 "{}" + -o -type d -exec chmod
0750 "{}" +

However, when managing vm's via libvirt, various ownership changes
happen to the underlying disks that mean that nova can no longer access
the disk files with 0640 permissions.

The disks (and base image) for a vm are created as nova:nova; libvirt
then shifts the ownership to libvirt-qemu:kvm as the vm starts. When
the vm is stopped the ownership reverts to root:root.

0640 permissions are maintained - however nova is not part of the root
or kvm groups so cannot access the file - which means the instance
cannot be restarted.

The following permissions are required for correct operation:

  find /var/lib/nova -type f -exec chmod 0644 "{}" + -o -type d -exec
chmod 0755 "{}" +

[Bug 1885162] Re: missing git filter-repo

2020-06-26 Thread Hadmut Danisch
I did not have a particular solution in mind.

It's just that if you deliver a tool, which shouts "don't use me, I'm
bad, use X instead!", it would be consequent and meet expectations to
deliver tool X as well.

If I read such a warning and need to fix it manually by self-compiling
external sources, it leaves a somewhat broken impression.

[Bug 1885266] [NEW] iwlwifi causes random UI freezes

2020-06-26 Thread d
Public bug reported:

The GUI randomly freezes around every 10-15 minutes. This last for about
15-20 seconds before it gets back to normal.

It started a few weeks ago. I can see entries in dmesg when this happens
that make me suspect that it is caused by iwlwifi and/or a related
driver of the Intel Wireless-AC 9260.

Do you use hintfull in your fontconfig hintstyle settings? It might be
that when it is rendering with subpixel AA it uses the LCD-hinting
algorithm, whereas when it goes to grayscale it has to use the normal
hinting algorithm. If so, if you try using some other hintstyle like
hintslight explicitly in your fontconfig settings, does it fix it?

[Bug 1885264] [NEW] neutron-ovs-cleanup runs on package upgrade

2020-06-26 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

Release: Focal/Bionic+Ussuri:

As part of the package upgrade for neutron-openvswitch-agent, the
neutron-ovs-cleanup systemd unit is restarted.

This unit should only be run on reboot, and not during package upgrades.

It has the side effect of removing all ports from the local OVS bridge,
impacting networking to services.

[Bug 1885136] Re: Nautilus connection to SSH IPv6 address fails

2020-06-26 Thread Andre Klapper
@seb128: No, please do not ask folks to report issues upstream when this
was only tested with software versions which are 30 months old. Upstream
does not want such reports as long as issues have not been reproduced
before in a recent and supported software version. Thanks.

I have a Logitech C922 Pro webcam which works perfectly on an Ubuntu

[Bug 1851062] Re: Qemu using CPU even when the VM is paused

2020-06-26 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Thanks for pursuing this. I tried those settings and my paused VM now
uses less than 1% CPU when before it used around 3%. So although I
haven't been able to reproduce the ~30% CPU usage of before it was still
an improvement. It's still odd to me that a paused VM consumes any CPU
at all but at least this is a bit better.

[Bug 1879805] Re: nzbget not working because of free unrar

2020-06-26 Thread Andreas Moog
The dependency can't easily be changed to prefer the non-free rar
version, as that would make nzbget not eligible for universe anymore (it
has to be moved to multiverse). It currently states:

Recommends: python3, unrar-free | unrar

I will have a look at the scripts used, maybe they can be changed to
support both versions.

[Bug 1878194] Re: [Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC] Bluetooth headset not working when selecting HSP/HFP audio profile in Focal Fossa

2020-06-26 Thread alcachi
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1871794 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871794

I replaced default.pa with the one extracted from the deb mentioned by
@David but, in my case, it did not fixed the issue, so as @Hui said
there can be several underlying issues causing the same problem.

In my case (Dell XPS13 7390) the kernel module used is btintel with
device firmware: intel/ibt-20-1-3.sfi.

I have verified with btmon that when I switch from adsp to hsp/hfp it
stops showing packages coming from the headset.

@Corey to extract the file you just have to run something like:

dpkg-deb -x pulseaudio_11.1-1ubuntu7_amd64.deb pulseaudio

Upgraded to 4.15.0-108-generic from 4.15.0-96-generic on bionic the

Booting into the old 4.15.0-96-generic, sound is working without any

[Bug 1885254] Re: boot.log scattered with msgs from plymouth even when booted with "noplymouth"

2020-06-26 Thread Günter Neiß
First: correction of some typos:
replace: 2. What have such megs to do inside boot.log ?
with: 2. What have such msgs to do inside boot.log ?

A, only after sending this bug report, I see that for whatever reason the boot
was done with:
"plymouth:debug"

Because I make a system snapshot before any "apt upgrade"..
I am able to see when this has changed..
"plymouth:debug" was added by a system upgrade at 2020-06-23!
The prev. update (done at 2020-06-08) does not contain this (but it even does
not contain "noplymouth" ??)
After looking as far as I can, I find that some upgrade before 2019-12-18 must
have removed the "noplymouth" that I had added to the boot line I mentioned in
my first post.

[Bug 1885026] Re: Fractional scaling contains 175% option twice

2020-06-26 Thread Niels Keurentjes
Thanks Daniel for referencing that comment, it's indeed also relevant
here.

It seems weird as a whole that the available scaling options appear to
depend on common monitor resolutions. As stated there at 3840x2075
(that's 4k minus the VMware window borders) I see the
100/125/175/175/250 selector, at 3480x1859 I don't even get any
fractional scaling options at all.

It looks like somebody tried to make it really user friendly by
tailoring the experience towards the end user ("nobody wants 300%
scaling on a 640x480 screen") and then completely overlooked the
windowed VM scenario, or any kind of remote desktop where you also want
to be able to set the scaling correctly based on the host machine's
resolution.

openvswitch: Use ansible_hostname for system-id

Currently openvswitch sets system-id based on inventory_hostname, but when
Ansible inventory contains ip addresses - then it will only take first ip
octet - resulting in multiple OVN chassis being named i.e. "10".
Then Neutron and OVN have problems functioning, because a chassis named "10"
will be created and deleted multiple times per second - this ends up in
ovsdb and neutron-server processes using up to 100% CPU.

Adding openvswitch role to ovn CI job triggers.

[Bug 1885254] [NEW] boot.log scattered with msgs from plymouth even when booted with "noplymouth"

Public bug reported:

This file resides on a network share (cisfs) and is definitly not "in use"!

While the system shutdown I see a lot of msg scrolling over the screen

and see this:

##

Because I always use "noplymouth" inside the boot-options I am a bit confused.
1. Why plymouth is still activ (OK, may it's needed and this disables only the
splsh screen)
2. What have such megs to do inside boot.log ?

Maybe this behaviour (bug) is althougth the reason for some other
problems I had in the last time with network shares (cisfs).

For ex.: Nautilus copies only one file and "hangs" on the dir for the remaing
files (of that job).
It seams the operation is done, but nautilus is waiting for something.

[Bug 1883253] Re: no Multi-Arch support

2020-06-26 Thread Stephan Lachnit
> What's the issue exactly you are refering to? The lack of Multi-Arch

No I was talking about the things you fixed in 1.5.1-0ubuntu6, thanks
btw! But Multi-Arch information is required as well ofc, but that's also
already fixed. Should be go to now from what I see.

> I did an update to G with some of the Debian changes, we should go
back in sync later but best to work on a minimal diff to be able to do a
stable update with the changes.

I think it's fine for now, but once
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libinih/+bug/1883890 is fixed
I think it makes sense to sync with Debian again. If there are any
issues with the package (or possible improvements), feel free to open an
issue / PR on the Salsa repo, I will try to comply to reduce duplicate
efforts.

[Bug 1604617] Re: dhclient does not send fqdn.fqdn for DHCPv6

2020-06-26 Thread Ganesh
Hi, This is not working for me.
I have installed dhcpd4.4.2 and dhclient4.4.2. I am using centos7 for server
and client.
My dhclient6.conf has below entries in it:
send fqdn.fqdn "hostname.domain.name";
send host-name "hostname";

But when I get a lease6 there is no any details about hostname/fqdn in
the dhcpd.leases file on the dhcp server.

Please help.

[Bug 1885249] [NEW] hard lock kernel

2020-06-26 Thread swmike
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04 guest VM running under vmware hypervisor. VM is used for
running qemu/docker instances of virtual routers.

After upgrade to linux-image-4.4.0-184-generic we get hard-lockup of the
kernel (no interaction on the console, no crash report or anything) as
soon as VM is put under load (several minutes in, 5 virtual routers
started and configured).

VM was running -177 or -178 for ~50 days without issue. I tested -179 as
well, doesn't have this problem. linux-image-4.15.0-106-generic (latest
hwe kernel) also doesn't have this problem. All of these are Ubuntu
provided kernels installed using regular install process.

So to sum up:

Works: 4.4.0-177 to -179. 4.15.0-106 also works.

Doesn't work: 4.4.0-184 causes immediate problems (within 10 minutes
after starting this test/simulation environment). Hard-lockup only
happens during the test and seems to be either memory/load dependent.

Unfortunately I don't have any debug output because of this hard-lockup.

[Bug 1885248] [NEW] Update intel-microcode to latest upstream release 20200616 to fix possible regression in 06-5e-03/0x000506e3

2020-06-26 Thread Alex Murray
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

As a result of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-
microcode/+bug/1882890 the microcode for 06-4e-03 was reverted from the
most recent intel-microcode release to the previous one - Intel has
subsequently released a new upstream release https://github.com/intel

Files/releases/tag/microcode-20200616 which includes this revert *as
well as a revert for the 06-5e-03/0x000506e3 microcode too*. This should
also be updated in Ubuntu to ensure we do not suffer any unexpected
regressions on these platforms too.

[Bug 1885246] [NEW] Desktop freezes when moving window fast to other desktop

2020-06-26 Thread Guus Ellenkamp
Public bug reported:

For a long time sometimes my desktop freezes suddenly and it took me a
long time to find when. It turns out sometimes the desktop freezes when
I move a window fast from one desktop to another, normally I would move
it to the right.

OS is Ubuntu 18.04 and the issue occurs (as far as I remember) with the
Open Source drivers and the AMD drivers. When using some default
setting/driver the issue does not occur, but then screen updates are
very slow.

I am using an MSI H81M-P33 motherboard, processor i5-4460, AMD Radeon HD
7700 Series (according to AMD driver). Monitor is AOC 1920x1080.

I tried many things, like different kernal versions and different
drivers. The currently installed AMD drivers don't work with the 5.3
kernel. I did not recently use something like kernel 5.0, so I don't
know if the issue is solved in later kernels.

I found some similar reports, but they all or mostly seem to relate to
laptops. While writing this report my desktop crashed again and I was
not moving a window, but just resizing it from the top down.

I can access the system through ssh and just changed the drivers from
AMD pro to AMD open source. Not sure what the effect is. More details
available if needed.

I would appreciate this would be solved, as it is pretty annoying to
restart my computer several times a day and sometimes losing work.

[Bug 1885006] Re: Search Service broken on Ubuntu Nightly builds

2020-06-26 Thread Standard8
Rico, as we said in the original comment, that patch is no longer
necessary.

The original issue that caused that to be necessary is now fixed
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1623597).

Distribution engines are now loaded first, marked as builtin/app-
provided. Worst case, removing that patch completely might cause a few
errors on the console about an engine already being installed the first
time a user upgrades from a version before 76. However that error should
have no user impact.

If you don't remove it now you should at least mark it for removing in a
release or two as it isn't necessary. If you find it is still necessary,
please let me know and we can take a look at it.
