2020-07-28 Thread arno
You nailed it: intel hardware (this is what I refered), but modeset
driver. Topic is clearer now - thanks. Age of bug is rather old, not a
good sign imho.

Could you try the kernel in
https://launchpad.net/~vicamo/+archive/ubuntu/ppa-1888385 ? It's based
on 4.4.0-187 with one additional commit from
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/?h=linux-4.4.y=e27a1e3d9c9ac453a94ab5646f7b92492a685c04,
which is to be included in 4.4.0-188. The PPA is scheduled for build and
may take a couple hours to finish. Please post a comment here whether
that fixes this bug and reset bug status to confirmed.

[Bug 1889342] Re: Thunderbolt Dock Loses Monitors

2020-07-28 Thread rhpot1991
Some additional details: I'm using a Dell WD19TB dock.

The lock screen seems to be the tipping point, with that disabled I'm
able to continually use external monitors. If I hit win+l to lock then I
have to unplug the dock in order to get external monitors working again.

Please be clear. I take it that by your last post you mean this: I
should stick to s2idle in the sense, not of (i) sending you only the log
for that, but in the sense of (ii) not contributing to the fix. However:
will someone who uploads both logs here be contributing to the fix?
Subordinate questions: (1) you are a kernel engineer, yes? (2) is there
much of a prospect of this bug ever being fixed? Thank you for your
time.

[Bug 1887607] Re: NFSv4.1: Interrupted connections cause high bandwidth RPC ping-pong between client and server

2020-07-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
** Description changed:

  BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887607

  [Impact]

There is a bug in NFS v4.1 that causes a large amount of RPC calls
between a client and server when a previous RPC call is interrupted.
This uses a large amount of bandwidth and can saturate the network.

  The symptoms are so:

  * On NFS clients:
Attempts to access mounted NFS shares associated with the affected server
block indefinitely.

  * On the network:
A storm of repeated RPCs between NFS client and server uses a lot of
bandwidth. Each RPC is acknowledged by the server with an
NFS4ERR_SEQ_MISORDERED error.

  * Other NFS clients connected to the same NFS server:
  Performance drops dramatically.

This occurs during a "false retry", when a client attempts to make a new
RPC call using a slot+sequence number that references an older, cached
call. This happens when a user process interrupts an RPC call that is in
  progress.

I had previously fixed this for Disco in bug 1828978, and now a customer
has run into the issue in Bionic. A reproducer is supplied in the
testcase section, which was something missing from bug 1828978, since we
never determined how the issue actually occurred back then.

  [Fix]

This was fixed in 5.1 upstream with the below commit:

  commit 3453d5708b33efe76f40eca1c0ed60923094b971
  Author: Trond Myklebust
  Date: Wed Jun 20 17:53:34 2018 -0400
Subject: NFSv4.1: Avoid false retries when RPC calls are interrupted

The fix is to pre-emptively increment the sequence number if an RPC call
is interrupted, and to address corner cases we interpret the
NFS4ERR_SEQ_MISORDERED error as a sign we need to locate an appropriate
sequence number between the value we sent, and the last successfully
  acked SEQUENCE call.

The commit also requires two fixup commits, which landed in 5.5 and
  5.8-rc6 respectively:

  commit 5c441544f045e679afd6c3c6d9f7aaf5fa5f37b0
  Author: Trond Myklebust
  Date: Wed Nov 13 08:34:00 2019 +0100
Subject: NFSv4.x: Handle bad/dead sessions correctly in
nfs41_sequence_process()

  commit 913fadc5b105c3619d9e8d0fe8899ff1593cc737
  Author: Anna Schumaker
  Date: Wed Jul 8 10:33:40 2020 -0400
Subject: NFS: Fix interrupted slots by sending a solo SEQUENCE operation

  Commits 3453d5708b33efe76f40eca1c0ed60923094b971 and
  913fadc5b105c3619d9e8d0fe8899ff1593cc737 require small backports to
bionic, as struct rpc_cred changed to const struct cred in 5.0, and the
backports swap them back to struct rpc_cred since that is how 4.15
  works.

  [Testcase]

You will need four machines. The first, is a kerberos KDC. Set up
Kerberos correctly and create new service principals for the NFS server
and for the client. I used: nfs/nfskerb.mydomain.com and
  nfs/client.mydomain.com.

The second machine will be a NFS server with the krb5p share. Add the nfs
server kerberos keys to the system's keytab, and set up a NFS server that
exports a directory with sec=krb5p. Example export:
  /mnt/secretfolder *.mydomain.com(rw,sync,no_subtree_check,sec=krb5p)

The third machine is a regular NFS server. Export a directory with normal
sec=sys security. Example export:
  /mnt/sharedfolder *.mydomain.com(rw,sync)

The fourth is a desktop machine. Add the client kerberos keys to the system's
keytab. Mount both NFS shares, making sure to use the NFS v4.2 protocol. I used
the commands:
  mount -t nfs4 nfskerb.mydomain.com:/mnt/secretfolder /mnt/secretfolder_client/
  mount -t nfs4 nfs.mydomain.com:/mnt/sharedfolder /mnt/sharedfolder_client

Check "mount -l" to ensure that NFS v4.2 is used:
  nfskerb.mydomain.com:/mnt/secretfolder on /mnt/secretfolder_client type nfs4
(rw,relatime,vers=4.2,<...>,sec=krb5p,<...>)
  nfs.mydomain.com:/mnt/sharedfolder on /mnt/sharedfolder_client type nfs4
(rw,relatime,vers=4.2,<...>,sec=sys,<...>)

Generate some files full of random data. I found 20MB from /dev/random
  works great.

Open each NFS share up in tabs in Nautilus. Copy the random data files
to the sec=sys NFS share. When they are done, one at a time cut and then
paste the file into the sec=krb5p NFS share. The bug will trigger either
on the first, or subsequent tries, but less than 10 tries are needed
  usually.

There is a test kernel available in the following PPA:
  https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/sf285439-test

If you install the test kernel, files will cut and paste correctly, and
  NFS will work as expected.

  [Regression Potential]

The changes are localised to NFS v4.1 and v4.2 only, and other versions
of NFS are not affected. If a regression occurs, users can downgrade NFS
versions to v4.0 or v3.x until a fix is made.

The changes only impact when connections are interrupted, and under
typical blue sky scenarios would not be invoked.

- There have been no fixup commits or commits near the requested commit in
- newer kernels, which points

[Bug 1887607] Re: NFSv4.1: Interrupted connections cause high bandwidth RPC ping-pong between client and server

2020-07-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
** Description changed:

  BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887607

  [Impact]

There is a bug in NFS v4.1 that causes a large amount of RPC calls
between a client and server when a previous RPC call is interrupted.
This uses a large amount of bandwidth and can saturate the network.

  The symptoms are so:

  * On NFS clients:
Attempts to access mounted NFS shares associated with the affected server
block indefinitely.

  * On the network:
- A storm of repeated RPCs between NFS client and server uses a lot of
bandwidth. Each RPC is acknoledged by the server with an NFS4ERR_SEQ_MISORDERED
error.
+ A storm of repeated RPCs between NFS client and server uses a lot of

A reproducer is supplied in the
testcase section, which was something missing from bug 1828978, since we
- never determined how the issue actually occured back then.
+ never determined how the issue actually occurred back then.

  [Fix]

This was fixed in 5.1 upstream with the below commit:

  commit 3453d5708b33efe76f40eca1c0ed60923094b971
  Author: Trond Myklebust
  Date: Wed Jun 20 17:53:34 2018 -0400
Subject: NFSv4.1: Avoid false retries when RPC calls are interrupted

The fix is to pre-emptively increment the sequence number if an RPC call
is interrupted, and to address corner cases we interpret the
- NFS4ERR_SEQ_MISORDERED error as a sign we need to locate an approperiate
+ NFS4ERR_SEQ_MISORDERED error as a sign we need to locate an appropriate
sequence number between the value we sent, and the last successfully
  acked SEQUENCE call.

The commit also requires two fixup commits, which landed in 5.5 and
  5.8-rc6 respectively:

  commit 5c441544f045e679afd6c3c6d9f7aaf5fa5f37b0
  Author: Trond Myklebust
  Date: Wed Nov 13 08:34:00 2019 +0100
Subject: NFSv4.x: Handle bad/dead sessions correctly in
nfs41_sequence_process()

  commit 913fadc5b105c3619d9e8d0fe8899ff1593cc737
  Author: Anna Schumaker
  Date: Wed Jul 8 10:33:40 2020 -0400
Subject: NFS: Fix interrupted slots by sending a solo SEQUENCE operation

  Commits 3453d5708b33efe76f40eca1c0ed60923094b971 and
  913fadc5b105c3619d9e8d0fe8899ff1593cc737 require small backports to
bionic, as struct rpc_cred changed to const struct cred in 5.0, and the
backports swap them back to struct rpc_cred since that is how 4.15
  works.

  [Testcase]

You will need four machines. The first, is a kerberos KDC. Set up
Kerberos correctly and create new service principals for the NFS server
and for the client. I used: nfs/nfskerb.mydomain.com and
  nfs/client.mydomain.com.

The second machine will be a NFS server with the krb5p share. Add the nfs
server kerberos keys to the system's keytab, and set up a NFS server that
exports a directory with sec=krb5p. Example export:
  /mnt/secretfolder *.mydomain.com(rw,sync,no_subtree_check,sec=krb5p)

The third machine is a regular NFS server. Export a directory with normal
sec=sys security. Example export:
  /mnt/sharedfolder *.mydomain.com(rw,sync)

The fourth is a desktop machine. Add the client kerberos keys to the system's
keytab. Mount both NFS shares, making sure to use the NFS v4.2 protocol. I used
the commands:
  mount -t nfs4 nfskerb.mydomain.com:/mnt/secretfolder /mnt/secretfolder_client/
  mount -t nfs4 nfs.mydomain.com:/mnt/sharedfolder /mnt/sharedfolder_client

Check "mount -l" to ensure that NFS v4.2 is used:
  nfskerb.mydomain.com:/mnt/secretfolder on /mnt/secretfolder_client type nfs4
(rw,relatime,vers=4.2,<...>,sec=krb5p,<...>)
  nfs.mydomain.com:/mnt/sharedfolder on /mnt/sharedfolder_client type nfs4
(rw,relatime,vers=4.2,<...>,sec=sys,<...>)

Generate some files full of random data. I found 20MB from /dev/random
  works great.

Open each NFS share up in tabs in Nautilus. Copy the random data files
to the sec=sys NFS share. When they are done, one at a time cut and then
paste the file into the sec=krb5p NFS share. The bug will trigger either
on the first, or subsequent tries, but less than 10 tries are needed
  usually.

There is a test kernel available in the following PPA:
  https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/sf285439-test

If you install the test kernel, files will cut and paste correctly, and
  NFS will work as expected.

  [Regression Potential]

The changes are localised to NFS v4.1 and v4.2 only, and other versions
of NFS are not affected. If a regression occurs, users

[Bug 1877757] Re: No sound, Dummy output on Acer Swift 3 SF314-57G with Ice Lake core-i7 CPU

2020-07-28 Thread Hui Wang
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ On this machine, after booting up, there is no valid sound card, the
+ gnome-control-center shows a dummy output only. check the dmesg, the alsa
+ sof driver fails to initialize.
+
+ [Fix]
+ Backport a patch from upstream, after applying this patch, the sof driver
+ will not fail anymore even the codec driver is hda_generic
+
+ [Test Case]
+ A couple of users already test this patch on their machines, after booting
+ up, there is a valid sound card, and could output sound from output devices.
+
+ [Regression Risk]
+ Low, this is cherry-picked from upstream, and this just adds a new kind of
+ codec (generic) support, and a couple of ubuntu users already verified this
+ patch.
+
+
New focal installation on a new Acer Swift 3 laptop with core i7-1065G7.
No sound detected, KDE/pavucontrol shows Dummy output.
  External headset also not detected.

I've googled around and tried to reinstall alsa and pulseaudio, tried
alsa force-reload as well. Nothing helps.

With snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0 speakers start working but microphone
is not detected. External headset detected with both headphones and mic.
I use this as a workaround for a time being.

  I've checked
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1860697 bug. It is
closed and use recent kernel and firmware but it does not fix my
  issue.

[Bug 1887607] Re: NFSv4.1: Interrupted connections cause high bandwidth RPC ping-pong between client and server

2020-07-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
** Summary changed:

- NFS4.2: Cutting and Pasting files from NFS sec=sys to NFS sec=krb5p causes
NFS to hang
+ NFSv4.1: Interrupted connections cause high bandwidth RPC ping-pong between
client and server

** Description changed:

  BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887607

  [Impact]

- If you have a desktop system, with two NFS v4.2 mounts:
- - One that uses the baseline IP based security, aka sec=sys,
- - and the other that uses Kerberos sec=krb5p based security,
+ There is a bug in NFS v4.1 that causes a large amount of RPC calls
+ between a client and server when a previous RPC call is interrupted.
+ This uses a large amount of bandwidth and can saturate the network.

- If you try and cut a file from the normal NFS mount, and paste it to a
- directory on the kerberos krb5p mount (using Nautilus), the NFS
- subsystem will lock up, Nautilus will hang, and the file won't be moved.
+ The symptoms are so:

- The problem only reproduces if you cut and paste. Copying and pasting
- does not trigger any problems. Using mv in terminal doesn't reproduce
- either, you need to use Nautilus.
+ * On NFS clients:
+ Attempts to access mounted NFS shares associated with the affected server
block indefinitely.

- The issue was introduced into 4.15.0-60-generic, by the commit:
+ * On the network:
+ A storm of repeated RPCs between NFS client and server uses a lot of
bandwidth. Each RPC is acknoledged by the server with an NFS4ERR_SEQ_MISORDERED
error.

- commit 594d1644cd59447f4fceb592448d5cd09eb09b5e
- Author: Chris Perl
- Date: Mon Dec 17 10:56:38 2018 -0500
- Subject: NFS: nfs_compare_mount_options always compare auth flavors.
- Link:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/594d1644cd59447f4fceb592448d5cd09eb09b5e

+ * Other NFS clients connected to the same NFS server:
+ Performance drops dramatically.

- It was backported to 4.15.0-60-generic from upstream -stable, and landed
- in 4.4.175, 4.14.99 and 4.19.21. The commit itself does not actually
- cause the problem, it simply removes a check for NFS server security
- settings, which simply reveals a broken codepath which the testcase
- triggers.
+ This occurs during a "false retry", when a client attempts to make a new
+ RPC call using a slot+sequence number that references an older, cached
+ call. This happens when a user process interrupts an RPC call that is in
+ progress.

- Xenial 4.4.0-185-generic is not affected, only Bionic 4.15.0-60-generic
- onward.
+ I had previously fixed this for Disco in bug 1828978, and now a customer
+ has run into the issue in Bionic. A reproducer is supplied in the
+ testcase section, which was something missing from bug 1828978, since we
+ never determined how the issue actually occured back then.

  [Fix]

- The fix landed in 5.1-rc1, in the following commit:
+ This was fixed in 5.1 upstream with the below commit:

- commit 02ef04e432babf8fc703104212314e54112ecd2d
- Author: Chuck Lever

Manually download pulseaduio 1:11.1-1ubuntu7.10 and kernel 4.15.0-1093-oem into
oem bionic image tested on the target that previously can reproduce this issue.

In first boot, plug-in headset, and pop-up windows is properly display.
After select headset, the output is correctly selected, and use the test in
gnome-control-center it can properly output left/right audio.

So I verified passed.

[Bug 1878625] Re: PCManFM 1.3.1 in Ubuntu 20.04 hangs for 90 seconds on reboot/shutdown

2020-07-28 Thread shasheene
Hi, I this issue is affecting thousands of users (many of whom are using
Ubuntu for the first time) through my Ubuntu remix named Rescuezilla.
For now I have simply limited the systemd service timeout to 10 seconds
instead of 90 seconds, but this is not a great solution.

Given Ubuntu 20.04 will be supported until 2025, it is important that
this bug be properly resolved.

As the user who reported this issue has alluded to, several months ago
this issue was fixed by the upstream pcmanfm project by this commit:

https://git.lxde.org/gitweb/?p=lxde/pcmanfm.git;a=commit;h=be8c60d588fc6b527d1cc77df9935bcfa66d52be

It's a one-line fix.

If somebody imports that one-line fix and pushes the deb file to the
focal-proposed repository, I will be happy to test it.

[Bug 1889278] Re: Xorg crash when using my machine; it goes back to the Login Menu

2020-07-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1888994] Re: Display scale setting is not saved across reboot

2020-07-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. And sorry I'm not very familiar with Budgie - it seems to be
related to gnome-shell but different.

Regardless, your display scale should be stored in
~/.config/monitors.xml along with all the display layout details. You
might want to look in there to check that a scale value of 2 is being
saved. Although it might look overly complicated as that file stores
*all* the different display configurations (different monitors plugged
in) your system has used in the past.

[Bug 1888810] Re: MATE desktop in Ubuntu 20.04 screen tearing intel graphics

2020-07-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The driver name 'intel' is the cause of some confusion. It sounds like
the right driver but actually it's old and not usually recommended. It
has some bugs that the new generic driver ('modeset') does not. However
'intel' does indeed have the TearFree option which 'modeset' does not
yet: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/244

guess this can be another one.

[Bug 1888598] Re: pulseaudio has is buggy with hdmi audio and sleep/wake

2020-07-28 Thread Hui Wang
Looks like this is really a PA's defect.

you could test this workaround temporarily:

edit /etc/pulse/default.pa

do some change like this: load-module module-switch-on-connect
blacklist=""

I will find a physical machine to debug this issue, and try to find a
real solution.

[Bug 1889146] Re: [SRU] Loss of USB device causes zita-ajbridge to run cpu at 100% and hang

2020-07-28 Thread Len Ovens
Tested new package from proposed. Run Jackdbus, Run zita-j2a with USB
device plugged in. That device shows up on the jack graph and will take
connections. Start htop and show zita processes. Remove USB device while
watching htop. Cpu use remains stable at .5 to 2% (same as running
normally). Device remains on the graph (normal) which allows studio-
controls time to switch connections to another device before kill SIGINT
zita process.

So the bug fix does correct the problem of high cpu
The bug fix does not cause any other regressions in the software that relies on
zita-ajbridge

[Bug 1880258] Re: Add trailing dot to make connectivity-check.ubuntu.com. absolute and reduce NXDOMAIN warning noise

2020-07-28 Thread MarcH
> the vast, VAST majority of the time you see this message it is
actually not a NXDOMAIN error.

I don't have any extensive data as you seem to have but _for me at home_
(= office now!) and without zero captive portal involved, adding this
trailing dot reduces the NXDOMAIN frequency from one message every 5
minutes to a few messages _per day_ (NM's default interval is 300
seconds)

The "journalctl --boot -p notice" total also becomes about twice
smaller. I filed this bug for a reason.

> the NXDOMAIN returned by the upstream nameserver is the *correct* response -
> that hostname connectivity-check.ubuntu.com.your_domain really, actually
> doesn't exist.

Yes of course, hence this one character fix which IMHO also removes one
large "distraction" from the main, captive portal issue!

> if you see this NXDOMAIN "error" [outside a captive portal] it is almost
> always just a normal lookup of a domain that doesn't exist,

... which is for sure very rare on my (admittedly headless) system. Not
sure why querying inexistent domains would be frequent on others'
systems?

> and the error message is simply wrong

It says "mitigating _potential_..." so it's not strictly speaking wrong.
Agreed it can be misleading but summarizing this fairly complex issue in
just one line is quite a challenge.

> This is due to a Ubuntu-only patch to systemd

Care to share the "best" link(s) about this? I mean links to best bugs
and/or relevant source code. An internet search returns too many hits!
BTW a good and authoritative bug number in the error message would
probably not hurt either, see why above.

> network-manager could work around this problematic Ubuntu-only systemd patch,

[Bug 1772556] Re: d-i netinstall fails due to missing apt-transport-https package

2020-07-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
As a final sanity check, I built a new debian-installer monolithic
netinstall ISO image, along with the usual vmlinuz / initrd.gz files.
When I built them, I enabled -proposed, and debootstrap-udeb
1.0.95ubuntu0.7 was included in the generated MANIFEST.udeb file.

The ISO images and initrd.gz files are here:
https://people.canonical.com/~mruffell/sf289200-proposed/

I did a test install with the mini.iso image, selecting [Advanced
Install] then [Command Line Expert Install]. When it asked for package
mirrors, I selected https, and used a local mirror that supports https,
mirror.fsmg.org.nz.

The install worked as expected with no errors. I checked /etc/apt/sources.list
in the installed system, and all the apt sources pointed to
deb https://mirror.fsmg.org.nz/ubuntu/ bionic main

The package in -proposed fixes the problem, and works with https
mirrors.

[Bug 1728093] Re: [16.04, ALC3253] Dell Latitude 5289 Combo Jack Does Not Recognize Devices

2020-07-28 Thread Fabiano
I tried many combinations of snd-hda-intel models and hdajackretask
settings. The following fixed the problem in my Dell Latitude 7389 with
Mint 19.3 and kernel 5.4.0. Now, when I plug my headset, I have two
working mics (internal and headset) and the output changes to headphone.

- /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi

- hdajackretask (Advanced override)

[Bug 1886113] Re: snap-store Does Not Run with XAUTHORITY error

2020-07-28 Thread aPlatypus
If I understand things, the path

   /home/$USER

is not valid if /home is a symlink or when home directories are not on
root. For example most corporate set-ups uses something like:

   /export/home/$USER

Sounds like that will foil the 'dumb smart software too.

I refute the proposition that ...

"symlinking an alternate home directory location"

This is not an alternate. The semantics are straightforward:
"/home/$USER/", it is a regular Unix path name.

The flaw here lies in the over-reach to resolve perfectly legitimate
human use file paths into machnine talk. When in truth use of the given
(legitimate) path of "/home/$USER" will or should work in all cases.

For comparison; I do not expect a compile error when the expression "i
+=2;" isn't written as "i = i+2;" And that is more or less what has
happened here. A correct file path is rejected because of some internal
scruples that have not bearing on usability or function.

I'm not sure which part of the stack is dissatisfied with the
"/home/$USER" pattern. If you know please post the module(s) if you'd
like. It looks like snap-s can not be used at with this limitation.

[Bug 1852119] Re: Please add zfs modules to linux-raspi2

2020-07-28 Thread Peter Mathes
Raspberry Pi4 is already available with 8GB of memory. Now that we are
way over the minimal memory requirements of ZFS, I think this topic
should be reconsidered. Using zfs-dkms is a bit tedious, having the ZFS
kernel modules available with the arm64 standard kernel would make the
life much easier.

2020-07-28 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
Apparenlty the systemd package in the upload queue will be reviewed.

For my test packages, @ddstreet told me that a pure no-change rebuild
of systemd would FTBFS on arm64 due to bug #1886197.

So I added that patch to this systemd "almost no-change rebuild" patch.

[Bug 1889091] Re: When saving a copy save dialog cannot create directory on nfs share (due to apparmor)

2020-07-28 Thread Seth Arnold
That'll change evince's profile but leave everything else that uses
@{HOME} broken.

Edit /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/home.d/site.local to match your local
configuration for home directory storage, and then run sudo
apparmor_parser --replace /etc/apparmor.d/ -- this will reload the
system-managed profiles but not profiles managed by other services. (A
reboot will reload whatever ought to be reloaded at boot, but that might
be inconvenient.)

Thanks

[Bug 1878694] Re: ubuntu-security-status checks esm-infra for ESM Apps

2020-07-28 Thread David Coronel
Yes this works as expected now.

Only the esm-apps service as an impact on the "are receiving/could
receive security updates with ESM Apps" statement now, and the message
changes as expected depending on if esm-apps is enabled or disabled.

Thank you.
