[Bug 1848797] Re: After upgrading to 19.10, boot screen shows: "Error: symbol 'grub_file_filters' not found."
Marking this bug as higher severity doesn't address the fundamental problem that users encountering this issue have an Ubuntu install which does not know where their boot disk is. Certainly, at install time Ubuntu knew, but something has changed afterwards with the system which causes grub on upgrade to install to the wrong place - leaving the actual boot disk with an old, incompatible grub installed. As part of the recent grub security update, we have identified several improvements that will ensure grub always successfully installs to *a* disk. But it is not possible to ensure that this is the *correct* disk. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848797 Title: After upgrading to 19.10, boot screen shows: "Error: symbol 'grub_file_filters' not found." [Bug 1890869] [NEW] [Clevo N350TW with Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH cAVS] no sound from speakers and headphones
Public bug reported: First I must say you, my English is not very good. I'm from Germany and I learned English in school, but this was in 1986. * My notebook: Product Name: SCHENKER_DOCK_15_SDO15L18_SDO15E19; Board Name: Clevo N350TW; Dual-boot: "Linux Mint 20 Ulyana (based on Ubuntu 20.04)" and "Windows 10 1909"; Architecture: x86_64; Kernel release: 5.4.0-40; Audio device: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH cAVS [8086:a348] (rev 10); Subsystem: CLEVO/KAPOK Computer Cannon Lake PCH cAVS [1558:0351]; * Here is the problem: When I boot Linux, the notebook have no sound from speakers and headphones. When I click the speaker-icon in tray, I can only see "Dummy-Output". Sometimes I hear a crack from the speakers. Only when I connect the notebook and the TV with a HDMI-cable, I have sound on TV. When I now click the speaker-icon, I see "HDMI-3". This problem was also with the Live-CD and also with "Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia (based on Ubuntu 18.04)". If I boot "Windows", there are no problems with sound. * Here the ALSA-info file: http://alsa-project.org/db/?f=47ee648ea6d6f98dcd1284b5d9800aa6b7240e33 * Can someone please help me to solve this problem? My Linux skills are average (learning by doing). [Bug 1890865] [NEW] Nouveau X.org: Stale texture data and flicker in small SDL2 program
Public bug reported: Video of bug: https://youtu.be/O0__VNN9G_o At 0:11 in the video you see old web browser data showing up in my program. At 0:19 when I close a window in my program the texture for my piano key letters flicker. By luck the texture for my keys sometimes flickers to stuff previously displayed on my desktop. This flickering is linked to my mouse movement/placement. When I run my program with the proprietary 440 NVIDIA driver things work fine. I am on Ubuntu budgie 20.04 using XFCE on X.org X11. The --save option is not part of the syntax, and when it's used the response is "apport-collect: error: no such option: --save". The apport-cli certainly has a --save option, but that only grabs "non- crash" telemetry. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1889992 Title: Ubuntu Focal Fossa freezes spontaneously -- must power off when this happens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1889992/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1890672] Re: secure boot fails after upgrade to grub2-common 2.04-1ubuntu26.2
ok, can i at least assume that shim is not required? that was my main issue. i wanted a single unencrypted file (grub + initramfs by another name:), and, my chain of trust. that is the key for me, if there is a requirement to only use shim and the microsoft keys, i'm in trouble. if its simply that canonical doesn't test w/o shim, that's ok. But it seems empirically that shim is now a hard requirement since the valid signed kernel no longer validates w/ this patch of grub. i guess also to the original bug from the original author here, perhaps removing the no-longer-supported option from grub doc would be good? the set check_signatures=no -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890672 Title: secure boot fails after upgrade to grub2-common 2.04-1ubuntu26.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1890672/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1890672] Re: secure boot fails after upgrade to grub2-common 2.04-1ubuntu26.2
This is definitively not a bug in the Ubuntu grub2 package. You have installed a third-party tool, on which the Ubuntu developers have never been consulted, that redirects the grub installation and claims to be more secure, but has not tracked the evolution of SecureBoot support in Ubuntu over the past 5 years. Use of custom SecureBoot key databases and self-signed binaries is fine, but where this is incompatible with the Ubuntu grub2 package, this is not supported. ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890672 Title: secure boot fails after upgrade to grub2-common 2.04-1ubuntu26.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1890672/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1890851] [NEW] Evolution ignores authentication changes; uses OAuth even after change
Public bug reported: I'm working on Ubuntu 18.04, x86_64, fully patched. I installed Evolution package 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.2. I'm trying to use Evolution with my Gmail account. I've set up my [Evolution] application password in Google security services. I have an app password for Evolution. When I attempt to use Evolution for Gmail I am being prompted for OAuth credentials. I cancel the OAuth prompt, I go to properties and then: * Receiving Email -> check for supported types * Receiving Email -> change to "password" * Sending Email -> check for supported types * Sending Email -> change to "login" (also tried "plain") I then try to send and receive and I am prompted for the OAuth password. Derp... Entering the [Evolution] application password results in a failed login. It is very frustrating that Evolution does not honor my settings. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: ubuntu => evolution (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890851 Title: Evolution ignores authentication changes; uses OAuth even after change To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1890851/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1885662] Re: please provide 4MB firmware builds
This bug was fixed in the package edk2 - 2020.05-3 --- edk2 (2020.05-3) unstable; urgency=medium * Provide 4MB OVMF images as the existing 2MB images no longer have sufficient variable space for the current Secure Boot Forbidden Signature Database. LP: #1885662. * Update fw descriptors to reference 4M images instead of their 2M counterparts. This will migrate tools that use the descriptor interface (like libvirt) over to the 4M images when creating new VMs. Existing 2M VMs will require manual migration. * Add a 4M snakeoil variable template and drop the 2M version. This will break existing snakeoil VMs, but that should be OK for a test/devel facility. * Increase autopkgtest timeout from 30s to 60s. [Bug 1890415] Re: Lenovo ThinkPad X390 won’t boot while plugged in

[Bug 1890415] Re: Lenovo ThinkPad X390 won’t boot while plugged in
I've downgraded to firmware 1.73 through the Gnome Firmware application. The issue is not present on this version and I can reboot like a normal person. I suppose I can figure out if it's 1.74 or 1.75 that breaks it. Not really sure where to report this, I don't think it's Ubuntu specific, I use Arch and only tried Ubuntu to see if the issue exists here, it doesn't seem to exist on Windows 10, or at least I didn't notice while I was running that earlier this month. Maybe we should report here? https://github.com/fwupd/firmware-lenovo-thinkpad To be safe, I've been factory resetting the bios when flashing just in case something weird gets brought over. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890415 Title: Lenovo ThinkPad X390 won’t boot while plugged in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1890415/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
