[Bug 1891785] [NEW] choose-w misaligned (regression)

2020-08-15 Thread gregrwm
Public bug reported:

tmux bi w choose-t -wF'#{==:#{window_index},2}'  #this shows 0 on windows other
than window 2:
(0) - 0: 1
(1) ├─> 0: 0
(2) ├─> 1: 0
(3) ├─> 2: 1
(4) ├─> 3: 0

tmux bi w choose-t -wf'#{==:#{window_index},2}'  #so this eliminates windows
other than window 2:
(0) - 0: 6 windows (attached)
(1) └─> 2: ssh* (1 panes) "e540"

tmux bi w choose-t -wF'#{window_format}' #this shows 0 on the session line and
1 on each window:
(0) - 0: 0
(1) ├─> 0: 1
(2) ├─> 1: 1
(3) ├─> 2: 1
(4) ├─> 3: 1

tmux bi w choose-t -wf'#{window_format}' #so this ought to eliminate the
session line, and restore choose-window alignment, but doesn't:
(0) - 0: 4 windows (attached)
(1) ├─> 0: man- (1 panes) "e540"
(2) ├─> 1: bash (1 panes) "e540"
(3) ├─> 2: ssh* (1 panes) "e540"
(4) ├─> 3: bash (1 panes) "e540"

if it did, then my choose-window list could be properly aligned as it is
on centos7 (tmux-1.8-4.el7.x86_64):
(0) 0: htop "umari"
(1) 1: bash "umari"
(2) 2: bash- "umari"
(3) 3: bash* "umari"

and ubuntu xenial (tmux 2.1-3build1):
(0) 0: [tmux]- "jocur"

(1) 1: bash* "jocur"

** Attachment removed: "CRDA.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1891342/+attachment/5401033/+files/CRDA.txt

** Description changed:

  Environment:
Fresh installation of Lubuntu 20.04 (it also occurs in a fresh installation
of Ubuntu 20.04)

  Steps to reproduce the situation:
  1) Lubuntu -> Network Manager -> Edit Connections -> Add SSID of a hidden
WiFi network
  2) Network Manager does not connect automatically with the hidden Wifi Network

However, once the WiFi network SSID is set to broadcast mode, it starts
  connecting automatically.

The workaround suggested in Bug 1542733 works here.
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1542733

However, it was suggested to create a new bug report for later releases.
Please provide your assistance. Thank you.

[Bug 1891733] Re: Support better Arabic font

2020-08-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package language-selector - 0.206

---
language-selector (0.206) groovy; urgency=medium

  * Provide Noto fonts for rendering Arabic (LP: #1891733)
- Let pkg_depends pull fonts-noto-core and fonts-noto-ui-core
  instead of fonts-arabeyes and fonts-kacst.
- Add 69-language-selector-ar.conf but apply that configuration
only for users with an Arabic locale, since it gives some Noto
fonts higher fontconfig precedence than DejaVu Sans.

[Bug 1861936] Re: Raspberry Pi 3 network dies shortly after a burst of IPv6 tunnel network load ((lan78xx): transmit queue 0 timed out)

2020-08-15 Thread Seamus Ryan
This has probably already been noticed, but in an attempt to simply get
my PI working somewhat the way i wanted, i changed my tunnel to run over
wlan0 instead of eth0 (they both connect back to the same network so
doesn't make a huge difference).

Tunnel and interfaces have been up for days, no issues reported.

[Bug 1891783] [NEW] autologin breaks keyboard and mouse in GDM3

2020-08-15 Thread Tony Kerr
Public bug reported:

After upgrade from 19.10 to 20.04, mouse and keyboard are unresponsive.
Re-installing does not fix the problem. Problem is not apparent in KDE
or LightDM. Three workarounds have been found so far:

1. Boot into recovery mode, then exit to normal boot via "resume"
2. Disable autologin. Allows normal bootup via login screen
3. Install alternative desktop manager such as KDE Plasma or LightDM.

Source package is unknown

Release: Ubuntu 20.04 and 20.04.1

Expected behaviour: System boots directly into desktop, mouse and
keyboard both work as normal

Actual behaviour: Mouse and keyboard are non-responsive unless autologin
is disabled.

I think I had the same problem. I think it was fixed with "chown
root:root /var".

Related to this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1891394

I think it also caused screen to be unusable until it was run by root.

Also i found a patch in solus development portal by the developer stalebrim

But i can't test it as i have no experience with kernel compiling and patching.

[Bug 1891780] Re: libqb 1.0.6-1 wont migrate because of i386

2020-08-15 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
debian/tests/control show:

Depends: libqb-dev, gcc, libc6-dev, pkg-config
Tests: ipc
Restrictions: allow-stderr

and the gcc dependency happens because ipc test compiles source codes
from ./examples within packet source code.

I could change this to install gcc multilib and cross compile for i386,
but since our i386 environment is capped.. I prefer to simply disable
tests for i386. With that in mind, I'll flag gcc dependency for all
architectures but i386 AND skip tests in i386.

[Bug 1873368] Re: ssshuttle server fails to connect endpoints with python 3.8

2020-08-15 Thread Dan Streetman
> I don't think the upstream fix for this is actually complete

this seems to only be an issue in bionic and just requires upstream
commit 0dba8a8beb5e2a6f16042421455004c2e7587ed4 to simply ignore the
failure.

I'm still concerned about upstream's casual use of stdin/stdout fd in
place of sockets, as MuxWrapper() passes the rfile/wfile up to
SocketWrapper without changing SocketWrapper's handling of the 'sockets'
at all. I suppose that's an issue for upstream to work out, however.

[Bug 1873368] Re: ssshuttle server fails to connect endpoints with python 3.8

2020-08-15 Thread Dan Streetman
I don't think the upstream fix for this is actually complete; MuxWrapper
passes the files up to the SockWrapper constructor, but SockWrapper
still thinks they are sockets and uses them as such, e.g. when calling
self.rsock.setblocking(False) which will fail when SockWrapper.rsock is
a file, not a socket.

Sure. I tried just that single character change first. No change after
reboot, i.e. still had to issue the manual command. If I use the manual
command with either 0x5 or 0xc5 it works perfectly in both cases. Just
for good measure I also tried adding back the model section too, but no
help there either. This is what I currently have in
/lib/firmware/alc298-sound-patch.fw...

[Bug 1872244] Re: Jack audio not working on Ubuntu 20.04 running on a Thinkpad Carbon X1 (7th gen)

2020-08-15 Thread Len Ovens
"internal audio interface (hw:sofhdadsp)" I am wondering where you got
the "hw:sofhdadsp" from was PCH,0,0 not listed? from your output of
aplay -l it would seem the device you want is hw:PCH,0,0 or just hw:PCH
even.

[Bug 1891771] [NEW] gdm3 crashes after upgrade from bionic to focal but lightdm and sddm work fine

2020-08-15 Thread Luca Maranzano
Public bug reported:

Hi all,

after upgrading from bionic to focal I switched from lightdm to gdm3 to
use Gnome Desktop.

Gdm3 crashes systematically when enabled as default display-manager with
a blank display with the following message:

Oh no! Something has gone wrong.
A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please contact a system
administrator.

In /etc/gdm3/custom.conf I've tried the following settings:

WaylandEnable=false   -> crash
WaylandEnable=true-> crash

I've enabled Debug but I cannot find any correlation with the error
message.

Gdm version 3.34.1-1ubuntu1.

Switching to another display manager like lightdm or sddm solves the problem.
I've a Dell Inspiron with Intel U620 graphic card.
The problems happens with the laptop display alone but also with external
monitor connected via HDMI.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards
Luca

[Bug 1890804] Re: 20.10 groovy proposed: resolvconf-pull-resolved.service fails to start if resolvconf is installed at the same time

2020-08-15 Thread Sønke Lorenzen
This also happened for me on a 20.10 with resolvconf yesterday, I do not
have proposed enabled on that system.

I used the chroot process described at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCdRecovery to be able to get into
that system and then uninstalling resolvconf after finding this bug and
the mentioned debian bug.

That fixed it. I have that system since 12.10 so before systemd. On
another 20.10 I have installed as 19.10 there is no resolvconf installed
and that did not see this problem.

[Bug 1861925] Re: BrightnessOutofRange: Actual brightness for amdgpu_bl0 not in range 0..255

2020-08-15 Thread Maton Danko
Hello,
I'm using Pop OS, and I have also the same issue like here it was described.
marton@pop-os:/sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0$ cat actual_brightness
60944
marton@pop-os:/sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0$ cat brightness
255
marton@pop-os:/sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0$ cat max_brightness
255

I'm using Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05 model. I've heard from multiple users
has problems, that they can't modify their screen brightness.

[Bug 1873368] Re: ssshuttle server fails to connect endpoints with python 3.8

2020-08-15 Thread Dan Streetman
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

- Endpoints that have been updated with python 3.8 seem to cause issues
- with sshuttle.
+ sshuttle fails to connect to a remote system with python >= 3.8, or
+ (after initial patch) to remote system with python <= 3.4.

  [Test Case]

- Client
- $ python3 --version
- Python 3.8.2
- $ lsb_release -rd
- Description:Ubuntu Focal Fossa (development branch)
- Release:20.04
- $ apt-cache policy sshuttle
- sshuttle:
-   Installed: 0.78.5-1
-   Candidate: 0.78.5-1
+ connect from a system with sshuttle installed to a remote system, in all
+ combinations (t/x/b/f/g with sshuttle to remote t/x/b/f/g system). All
+ combinations should work.

- Server
- $ python3 --version
- Python 3.8.2
- $ lsb_release -rd
- Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Release:20.04
- $ apt-cache policy openssh-server
- openssh-server:
-   Installed: 1:8.2p1-4
-   Candidate: 1:8.2p1-4
+ The first failure, connecting to remote systems with python >= 3.8, will
+ fail like:

- $ sshuttle -r ubuntu@{ip-addr} {subnet-1} {subnet-2}
+ $ sshuttle -r ubuntu@{ip-addr} {subnet-1}
assembler.py:3: DeprecationWarning: the imp module is deprecated in favour of

+
  [Regression Potential]

- Regression potential is 'low'.
+ any regression would likely cause problems at connection initialization,
+ i.e. when connecting from the sshuttle system to the remote system. it's
+ unlikely this would cause any regression that occurs after the initial
+ setup has been completed.

- * In Focal/20.04 LTS, the python included in the base system is Python
- 3.8.
+ [scope]

- * Python 2.7 has been moved to universe and is not included by default
- in any new installations.
+ First, I'll note this regression illustrates the importance of the
+ [scope] section, and why I always include it in my SRUs...

- * This fix is actually fixing a regression itself.
- This regression was introduced in python 3.8 by bpo#35415 [2], which
restricts socket.fromfd() calls to provide valid socket family file descriptors.
+ tl;dr for scope is 2 fixes are needed (work with remote py >= 3.8 and
+ work with remote py <= 3.4), and both fixes are needed in sshuttle for
+ all releases.
+
+ details:
+
+ this is needed for all releases; x, b, f, and g. However there are 2
+ parts to fixing this; the first part is fixing sshuttle connecting from
+ any release to a system with python >= 3.8. That is done for g, and in
+ proposed for f, and not done for b or x. The second part is to correct
+ the first patch's regression to allow sshuttle connecting from any
+ release to a system with python <= 3.4. That is needed for x, b, f, and
+ g.
+
+ a good scope table from @smoser is in comment 26.

[Bug 1891768] [NEW] hfs+ filesystems fail reading / writing large files

2020-08-15 Thread Richard J Uschold
Public bug reported:

I noticed a problem reading hfs+ partitions on a USB flash drive after I
installed Ubuntu 20.04 on two laptop machines. I have a Mini Mac that I
share files via an USB flash drive formatted with hfs+ from the laptops
with Ubuntu installed. I had no issues with Ubuntu Mate 18.10.

I noticed that very large files, typicality larger than 100 MB, would
have read errors or sometimes have a zero file size. One particular file
about 500MB fails nearly every time. Other files, down to about 100MB
fail sometimes.

I bought a new USB flash drive, but have the same failures on that.
I have an identical flash drive formatted with ext4 which has no issues. I'm
currently booting to Ubuntu Mate 18.10 to write the hfs+ USB flash drive.

[Bug 1878726] Re: Live USB Installer not working Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 15"

2020-08-15 Thread Robert Davenport
Hi @kaihengfeng,

I am not familiar with kernel/git bisection and was unable to do what
you asked, partly because I couldn't boot into linux/ubuntu to begin
with, and updating the kernel from 19.10 wouldn't test all the other
services that could be at play.

However, after repeated efforts or restarting my system, I was able to
finally get the live USB to get past the blocker (still not sure why it
was blocked from booting). I wish I could explain what steps I took in
order to get to this stage, but it was truly a luck of multiple reboots
switching between safe kernel and nor kernel, enabling and disabling
secure-boot until the system corrected itself and booted from the
liveUSB. From the successful session, I was able to install a clean
version of 20.4 LTS, but have had the same issue when trying to reboot,
that I was having with the live USB.

Because I was able to finally boot into the Live USB without any system
changes, my thought is the problem is not with the kernel (otherwise, I
would have never have gotten it to boot, regardless of how many attempts
through restart). It consistently seems to fail during a systemd
initialization, with uuid, as if the UEFI partition is not found.
Checking fstab, everything seems to be correct. Looking at the log
files, unfortunately, they only reflect the successful boot. All of my
previous failed attempts to boot in 20.04 aren't present.

At this point, I am not sure how I can help to troubleshoot this issue,
but it is still an issue to consistently be able to boot into 20.04,
even though I was able to install from the live USB.

Any recommendations on what to try, will be gladly appreciated.

[Bug 1891767] [NEW] Nautilus not showing video thumbnails

2020-08-15 Thread Saurav Sengupta
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy) Daily Live, GNOME session (gnome-session) on
Wayland. Nautilus is no longer showing thumbnails (generated by Totem)
for some video files, although the Totem thumbnail generator (totem-
video-thumbnailer) is working. Nautilus is showing thumbnails for video
files with (Ogg) Theora codec content (even if wrapped in a non-Ogg file
format, such as mkv), but not for others, although I have installed all
the required/usual libraries (libav*, gstreamer1*). Deleting the
thumbnail fail cache (~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/) does not help.
Installing ffmpegthumbnailer does not help either. This seems to be a
regression, or maybe some libraries for video files in non-free codec
formats have not been updated properly. Package versions are as
follows:-

Nautilus: 1:3.37.90-1ubuntu1
Totem: 3.34.1-2ubuntu2

Hi Alexandre,

Try it! But download the linux-firmware.deb package in case it doesn't
work, Then you can just re-install the older firmware.
