[Bug 1886277] Re: Regression on NFS: unable to handle page fault in mempool_alloc_slab
mainline 5.4.60-050460-generic #202008210836 did indeed fix the setup for me, I just forget to get back to you guys here. Hello Martin, It looks like the fix had not been included in the 5.4.0-47 release, but only in the following 5.4.0-48 release. Have you had the time to update to the updated kernel included with Ubuntu 20.04 and see if it has been fixed for you? On a possibly connected note, may I ask you how you are mounting the nfs share on the client? My server: Linux storage 4.19.0-9-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.118-2+deb10u1 (2020-06-07) x86_64 GNU/Linux with nfs-kernel-server 1:1.3.4-2.5+deb10u1. I switched from mounting the drives via fstab to a systemd mount after 14.04 with the following options: _netdev,sec=krb5p,vers=4.1,auto I have to use NFS4.1 with vers=4.1, because whenever I omit it, the client will still freeze when a file is being copied or cut (Ctrl+C/X). I looked at the changes Andreas pointed to, but I'm unsure they are really the same right now. - 0003-Print-diagnostics-on-dns_name_issubdomain-failure-in.patch applied as-is, but is about diagnostics and not fixing a crash as reported here - 0004-Fix-off-by-one-error-when-calculating-new-hashtable-.patch does not apply as-is Tracking this I found this would also need (at least) the backport of: https://github.com/isc-projects/bind9/commit/e24bc324b455d9cad7b51acd3d5c7b4e40c66187 https://github.com/isc-projects/bind9/commit/1e043a011b9fe3f62f9f5c7a9b74b44adc03ca44 But that in turn let me realize that the bug that "78543ad" was only introduced by "e24bc324". So we won't backport "e24bc324" (which is a massive rework of the hash handling) just to fix it. @Andreas - what do you think might this - despite the similarity - be a different issue after all. [Bug 1897550] [NEW] Groovy update: v5.8.12 upstream stable release
Public bug reported: SRU Justification Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel: v5.8.12 upstream stable release from git://git.kernel.org/ Linux 5.8.12 net/mlx5e: Fix endianness when calculating pedit mask first bit net/mlx5e: Use synchronize_rcu to sync with NAPI net/mlx5e: Use RCU to protect rq->xdp_prog Revert "netns: don't disable BHs when locking "nsid_lock"" net: macb: fix for pause frame receive enable bit net: dsa: microchip: ksz8795: really set the correct number of ports net: dsa: link interfaces with the DSA master to get rid of lockdep warnings hv_netvsc: Fix hibernation for mlx5 VF driver hinic: fix rewaking txq after netif_tx_disable net/mlx5e: Fix memory leak of tunnel info when rule under multipath not ready net: ipa: fix u32_replace_bits by u32p_xxx version wireguard: peerlookup: take lock before checking hash in replace operation wireguard: noise: take lock when removing handshake entry from table net: ethernet: ti: cpsw_new: fix suspend/resume net: add __must_check to skb_put_padto() net: qrtr: check skb_put_padto() return value net: phy: Do not warn in phy_stop() on PHY_DOWN net: phy: Avoid NPD upon phy_detach() when driver is unbound net: lantiq: Disable IRQs only if NAPI gets scheduled net: lantiq: Use napi_complete_done() net: lantiq: use netif_tx_napi_add() for TX NAPI net: lantiq: Wake TX queue again bnxt_en: Protect bnxt_set_eee() and bnxt_set_pauseparam() with mutex. bnxt_en: return proper error codes in bnxt_show_temp bnxt_en: Use memcpy to copy VPD field info. net/mlx5e: TLS, Do not expose FPGA TLS counter if not supported net/mlx5e: Enable adding peer miss rules only if merged eswitch is supported tipc: use skb_unshare() instead in tipc_buf_append() tipc: fix shutdown() of connection oriented socket tipc: Fix memory leak in tipc_group_create_member() taprio: Fix allowing too small intervals nfp: use correct define to return NONE fec net: sctp: Fix IPv6 ancestor_size calc in sctp_copy_descendant net: sch_generic: aviod concurrent reset and enqueue op for lockless qdisc net: sched: initialize with 0 before setting erspan md->u net: phy: call phy_disable_interrupts() in phy_attach_direct() instead net/mlx5: Fix FTE cleanup net: ipv6: fix kconfig dependency warning for IPV6_SEG6_HMAC net: Fix bridge enslavement failure net: dsa: rtl8366: Properly clear member config net: DCB: Validate DCB_ATTR_DCB_BUFFER argument net: bridge: br_vlan_get_pvid_rcu() should dereference the VLAN group under RCU ipv6: avoid lockdep issue in fib6_del() ipv4: Update exception handling for multipath routes via same device ipv4: Initialize flowi4_multipath_hash in data path ip: fix tos reflection in ack and reset packets hinic: bump up the timeout of SET_FUNC_STATE cmd hdlc_ppp: add range checks in ppp_cp_parse_cr() geneve: add transport ports in route lookup for geneve cxgb4: Fix offset when clearing filter byte counters cxgb4: fix memory leak during module unload bnxt_en: Fix NULL ptr dereference crash in bnxt_fw_reset_task() bnxt_en: Avoid sending firmware messages when AER error is detected. act_ife: load meta modules before tcf_idr_check_alloc() ibmvnic: add missing parenthesis in do_reset() ibmvnic fix NULL tx_pools and rx_tools issue at do_reset ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: kernel-stable-tracking-bug ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: kernel-stable-tracking-bug ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897550 Title: Groovy update: v5.8.12 upstream stable release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1897550/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1897464] Re: Problmes with disk size with zfs
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu that you are using. [Bug 857651] Re: Unable to hide users from login screen / user switcher
Since so many components are involved a fix/change might have been missed. And since I recently didn't hear anything about this otherwise rather hot bug I was giving focal a try. It turns out that this was indeed improved. Only the user of pkg:ifmail user fdt name "Fidonet" is still visible. All other formerly affected packages are good in Focal. I can't (without digging through history a lot) say what fixed that but I'll update the bug tasks accordingly. Setting Focal fixed and marking Bionic/Xenial as still affected releases. The backport tasks for those packages are incomplete thou as it is unclear which change in which package fixed it for Focal. Note: This is only speaking for the "default config" of Ubuntu Desktop as in 20.04 we know that certain environments will behave differently (e.g. KDE never was affected). ** Also affects: ifmail (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libvirt (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ceph (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: lightdm (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: accountsservice (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: netqmail (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: sddm (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ifmail (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libvirt (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ceph (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: lightdm (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: accountsservice (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: netqmail (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: sddm (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: accountsservice (Ubuntu Xenial) ** No longer affects: accountsservice (Ubuntu Bionic) ** Changed in: ceph (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: ceph (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: ceph (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Released ** No longer affects: ifmail (Ubuntu Xenial) ** No longer affects: ifmail (Ubuntu Bionic) ** No longer affects: lightdm (Ubuntu Xenial) ** No longer affects: lightdm (Ubuntu Bionic) ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Released ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: netqmail (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: netqmail (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: netqmail (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Released ** No longer affects: sddm (Ubuntu Xenial) ** No longer affects: sddm (Ubuntu Bionic) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857651 Title: Unable to hide users from login screen / user switcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/accountsservice/+bug/857651/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1897545] [NEW] Bind9: man file for rndc utility mentions wrong config file location
Public bug reported: Man page for the rndc utility mentions that /etc/rndc.key and /etc/rndc.conf are default locations for config files. That is not true. > man rndc ``` -c config-file Use config-file as the configuration file instead of the default, /etc/rndc.conf. -k key-file Use key-file as the key file instead of the default, /etc/rndc.key. The key in /etc/rndc.key will be used to authenticate commands sent to the server if the config-file does not exist. ``` In fact, running rndc with strace shows that it looks for these files at /etc/bind ``` futex(0x7ff0e3472028, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 1 stat("/etc/bind/rndc.conf", 0x7ffe2b70d1e0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) stat("/etc/bind/rndc.key", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0640, st_size=77, ...}) = 0 openat(AT_FDCWD, "/etc/bind/rndc.key", O_RDONLY) = 6 ``` # Suggested resolution: update the man page so it is not misleading. Use case: on my configuration, Bind9 is configured to listen on 127.0.0.2 because I use another DNS server that handles most traffic at 127.0.0.1. But I could not get rndc to talk to correct ip address regardless of what I wrote at /etc/rndc.conf. Finally, strace revealed that the expected config file location is different from what man page tells. [Bug 1897530] [NEW] The modesetting driver does not gracefully handle missing connectors on EnterVT
Public bug reported: Expectation: on removal of external display during S3, after resume eDP rendering should still continue by Nvidia. Symptom description: Plug out DP cable when suspension, when resume, X will crash. 1. Before S3 entry, eDP and external panel(via dock) were driven by Intel but NV was rendering for eDP. 2. After S3 entry dock was removed. 3. On resume, Linux kernel tried to find dock but couldn’t find it, so fails resume of TB3 devices and logs confirm that. 4. X fails to enter VT due to Null meta mode. To address the explanation, X is not failing to enter the VT due to NVIDIA’s NULL MetaMode. It’s the Intel (modesetting) driver that is failing to enter the VT. It’s expected that NVIDIA would have a NULL MetaMode, since there are no displays connected to it. Our driver is pretty robust to head state changes – even if we have to fall back to a NULL MetaMode, we will still enter the VT successfully. The logs clearly show that the failure is originating from the Intel (modesetting) driver, not the NVIDIA driver. The relevant path in X is driver.c:EnterVT() => drmmode_display.c:drmmode_set_desired_modes(). In this function, the Intel driver tries to set a mode on each of the previously connected/enabled displays, and it tries to find the closest possible mode using xf86OutputFindClosestMode(). This is similar to our driver’s functionality, but unlike us, they don’t support a NULL fallback. If there are no modes supported on one of the displays, it simply fails, which causes X to terminate: DisplayModePtr mode = xf86OutputFindClosestMode(output, pScrn->currentMode); if (!mode) return FALSE; Since we removed one of the displays via the dock, it fails. It doesn’t matter if the internal panel is still available, Intel will fail if it can’t re-enable ANY of the previously connected displays. Technically the modesetting driver isn’t specifically an Intel driver, it’s a generic driver that can be used by any DRM device – it’s just that Intel has chosen to use the modesetting driver as their standard Linux X driver going forward. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues #1010 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1010 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897530 Title: The modesetting driver does not gracefully handle missing connectors on EnterVT To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1897530/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1868703] Re: Support new AD requirements (ADV190023)
This one is a bit more risky, as it changes the default behavior of now preferring GSS-SPNEGO if available. We missed taking care of this one earlier, so arguments 'it's too late' do not make much sense. I assume that the server team did enough testing of this in the meantime, so I think we can risk it. [Bug 1896098] Re: Lenovo P1G3 - unable to select system speakers when headset plugged into audio jack
@cchen50, After debugging with Realtek (thank Kailiang@Realtek's help), we found 2 issues, the 1st one is about linux, the 2nd one is about the BIOS. 1st issue, we need to disable auto-mute (run alsamixer, find auto-mute, disable it), after this operation, nearly all machines could work except this P1G3. So P1G3 has the 2nd issue, after plugging the headset/headphone, the EC/BIOS will power down speaker unconditionally, so far, linux driver could do nothing to power it up. I am wondering how windows powers the speaker up or under windows the EC will not power the speaker down? Or maybe the BIOS version on the windows machine is different from the bios version on my machine? (on my machine: the bios version is N2VET22W(1.07) the EC version is N2VHT12W (1.01)) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1896098 Title: Lenovo P1G3 - unable to select system speakers when headset plugged into audio jack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1896098/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
