[Bug 1899308] Re: failure to boot groovy daily (again)
Hi Jags Desai, It is possible that your problem depends on the graphics, if there is nvidia graphics. Have you tried to boot in recovery mode or with the boot option 'nomodeset'? But if your HP does not even reach grub, you may need a workaround for the boot process. Please try to install mkusb (mkusb-dus) and make with a persistent live drive with the settings - 'msdos partition table' - 'usb-pack-efi' for your HP computer. Using 'msdos partition table' should work in BIOS mode (alias CSM alias legacy mode) but you can expect it to fail in UEFI mode. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899308 Title: failure to boot groovy daily (again) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1899308/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1899308] Re: failure to boot groovy daily (again)
Hi Chris, There seems to be a difference between the first boot and the subsequent boots in your hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290) It might depend on the creation of the ext4 partition behind the image of the iso file, which happens only in the first attempt to boot. Another difference is that the partition is available for reading and writing at once in the following attempts to boot. If you have the time, you could wipe the whole USB drive (with mkusb, slow process) and then clone from the current iso file again, and when booting add the boot option 'nopersistent' before continuing to boot. A more convenient method would be to replace the cloning with creating a 'nopersistent' boot drive using mkusb-plug (but it replaces 'quiet splash' with 'nopersistent'). This way, the drive should look the same during all subsequent boots. The question is: will the computer boot every time or fail every time? Or will there still be differences between the boot attempts? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899308 Title: failure to boot groovy daily (again) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1899308/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm seeing the same thing. Basically, any use of clock_gettime now requires a syscall (isntead of using vsdo). The applications I'm running do a lot of clock_gettime's, and basically cannot run performantly anymore after this happens. [Bug 1899853] Re: Screen freezing
Does the problem only happen when playing video? I can see the Discord snap is flooding your system log, which can cause freezes (usually every 5 seconds) when the kernel needs to sync/flush to disk. So please try uninstalling the Discord snap and tell us if the situation improves. If the problem keeps happening then please run 'top' to check for any high CPU users, and please also run (while the problem is happening): journalctl -b0 > journal.txt and attach the resulting text file here. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899853 Title: Screen freezing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1899853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1899832] Re: CONFIG options for (ipip, sit) should not be built-in to the KVM kernels
** Description changed: CONFIG_NET_IPIP and CONFIG_IPV6_SIT are set to =y in the -kvm kernels. This means that they are always present in the kernel, and the virtual devices they created (tunl0 and sit0) are always present, even when not configured and not needed. This is causing some issues for clouds that use the -kvm flavour, and there is no good reason for those configuration options to be =y anyway. So they should be converted to =m instead. + + + [Regression potential] + + - I'm not aware of any. General consensus is that these options should + have been =m all along. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899832 Title: CONFIG options for (ipip, sit) should not be built-in to the KVM kernels To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-kvm/+bug/1899832/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1899766] Re: Xorg freeze after selecting large cursor
This is going to confuse the situation but your kernel log CurrentDmesg.txt shows the kernel keeps crashing in the video4linux webcam code. I don't *think* that's related to this bug, but it is filling your kernel log with crash reports. As for this bug... Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: nvidia -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899766 Title: Xorg freeze after selecting large cursor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-435/+bug/1899766/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It is pretty much same as xenial. That means while the source code is broken, in a sense that the compiler is allowed to generate broken code, the generated code does not exhibit the issue in question. As with xenial I do see intermittent connection problems with iperf3, but the recv queue does not get stuck for good (like in focal, because of the lost interrupt). [Bug 1899857] Re: [SRU] alsa-lib: support the enum value settings both in "" and in ''
This is the debdiff for groovy. thx. ** Description changed: - This bug is for tracking purpose. + [Impact] + Recently the ucm added some amixer settings, like this one: + cset "name='rt711 ADC 23 Mux' 'MIC2'" + This setting is needed for Dell soundwire audio machines, and only + this setting is set correctly, the headset-mic could work. And we + already backported this ucm to focal. But the alsa-lib ctl parse + doesn't support the enum value in the '' yet, so this amixer setting + can't be set correctly under current focal and groovy, we need to + backport a patch from alsa-lib master branch. + + [Fix] + Backport a patch from upstream, this patch is not in the groovy + yet (not in the alsa-lib v1.2.3.2), so both groovy and focal need this + patch. + + [Test Case] + On the Dell soundwire audio machine, run alsactl init, then check if + the amixer "rt711 ADC 23 Mux" is set to "MIC2" or not, if it is set + correctly, it means the alsalib enum ctl parse support both "" and '' + now. + + + [Regression Risk] + This could introduce failure on setting enum amixer settings, users + will experience the failure of audio device like the speaker can't output + sound, the mic can't record sound. But this possibility is very low since + we have tested this SRU on many LENOVO and Dell machines (with and without + soundwire audio), all worked as fine as before. ** Patch added: "alsa-lib_1.2.3.2-1ubuntu2.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-lib/+bug/1899857/+attachment/5422368/+files/alsa-lib_1.2.3.2-1ubuntu2.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899857 Title: [SRU] alsa-lib: support the enum value settings both in "" and in '' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1899857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1899858] [NEW] Distribution 20.04.1 does not support Atheros 802.11n wireless LAN cards
Public bug reported: Distribution 20.04.1 does not support Atheros 802.11n wireless LAN cards. Either the module (ath9k) is missing or the "improved" version does not work. I am currently running Ubuntu MATE 18.04.5. Since this is no longer supported, I tried to install 20.04.1. Unfortunately this version does not support my WiFi hardware (versions 13.04-19.10 do). So I am stuck at 18.04 until 20.04 is actually ready to be released. (Is it an alpha version?) I tried a BrosTrend WiFi adapter from another computer since I have the driver on CD. [Bug 1897920] Re: [MIR] pi-bluetooth
Updated test package now being built in the following PPA: https://launchpad.net/~waveform/+archive/ubuntu/pi-bluetooth/+packages I'll work on upstreaming our delta, but one thing to be aware of is that most of the changes aren't actually a delta and can't be upstreamed. Specifically, the changes in debian/rules and debian/compat, which clean up a few lintian warnings *can* be upstreamed, and I'll open a ticket for those. However, the changes in lib/udev/rules.d/90-pi-bluetooth.rules are actually copies of these rules from the etc/udev/rules.d/99-com.rules file in the raspberrypi-sys-mods package upstream (https://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/pool/main/r/raspberrypi-sys- mods/) which is a collection of various raspberry pi related settings, many of which which can't (easily / directly) incorporate into Ubuntu. Those rules, however, are necessary to make the Bluetooth UART work (and coincidentally set up aliases for the serial console UART when that is enabled, which is presumably why they're in raspberrypi-sys-mods upstream and not pi-bluetooth). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897920 Title: [MIR] pi-bluetooth To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pi-bluetooth/+bug/1897920/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1899841] Re: Leaks memory on client disconnect while using TLS
** Description changed: Howdy, When one has TLS enabled, icecast2 leaks memory on client disconnect. Given the nature of a streaming server this happens all the time. There are two ways to solve this, one would be to switch to using OpenSSL rather than WolfSSL, while the other would be to apply a tiny patch that was written by one of the WolfSSL contributors and is attached. I tested both solutions and they most certainly do solve the problem. One can easily test by setting up icecast2, connecting a source client, then creating a loop with wget to generate a lot of connect/disconnect noise. + [Impact] + + Anyone that uses TLS will be affected. + + + [Test Case] + + Set up icecast2 with TLS and hook up a source client such as ices2, + darkice, boodler, etc. + + Quickly connect and disconnect some clients: + + for i in `seq 1 300`;do timeout 3 wget -O /dev/null https://DOMAIN.TLD + :TLS-PORT/STREAM-MOUNT;done + + And watch the memory increase. + + + [Regression Potential] + + Well it's a minimal patch, so topping OOM'ing due to too many clients is + going to be hard to beat. + + If switching to OpenSSL, this is perhaps a bigger change due to + switching out TLS backends, but perhaps has been tested more. + + ~Unit 193 ** Patch added: "icecast2.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/icecast2/+bug/1899841/+attachment/5422340/+files/icecast2.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899841 Title: Leaks memory on client disconnect while using TLS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/icecast/+bug/1899841/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1899206] Re: Tweaktool Keyboard “Additional Layout Options” not persisting on USB keyboard unplug/reconnect
@mhalsharif: I'm currently not using any Apple hardware, but I'm seeing all the same behavior you are (except I don't lose settings on lock/unlock). I have currently done the following things: * I moved all my keyboard customizations from dconf settings [/org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options] (which is where Tweak Tool puts the config) and put them in /etc/default/keyboard:XKBOPTIONS. Since these settings are default, when the keyboard resets to these defaults, it resets back to the config I want. (This fixes the keyboard reset, but still will not fix the mouse resetting issue.) If you want to try this approach, you can just add the default configuration options like this: XKBOPTIONS="shift:both_capslock,ctrl:swap_lalt_lctl_lwin,caps:escape" * I have also downgraded mutter (`sudo apt install mutter=3.36.1-3ubuntu3 mutter-common=3.36.1-3ubuntu3 libmutter-6-0=3.36.1-3ubuntu3 gir1.2-mutter-6=3.36.1-3ubuntu3`). This downgraded version fixes all the resetting issues (although I'm stuck on the downgraded mutter version until a fix gets released). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899206 Title: Tweaktool Keyboard “Additional Layout Options” not persisting on USB keyboard unplug/reconnect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/1899206/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
