[Bug 1872527] Re: Clipboard doesn't work 100% of the time in Ubuntu 20.04 (in KVM guests)

2020-11-01 Thread Jakub Klos
@paelzer
Thank you, Christian.
Yes, I am aware of the workaround as I am using it on Windows (stopping the
VDAgent is sufficient on the guest). The only way to use the guest reasonably
(you would never tell how copy/paste is used frequently during coding)

Currently, I am happy with the patch on focal. It would be nice if the
fix gets in the future updates as well. I am willing to test a few
distros if you need.

I did not test Bionic but I tried both Windows10 yesterday and found out
the issue is the same indeed on both Win7 and Win10.

I tried updating the host with the patched vdagent and it did not help
neither in Windows nor Focal.

Please, let me know what you want me to test and I will do my best

[Bug 1902483] [NEW] Sparse file not allowed (on btrfs), 20.04

2020-11-01 Thread Alexey Boreyko
Public bug reported:

Hello there.

I have just installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my PC with a single partition on
btrfs file system. There was no show any errors during installation.

When I rebooted, I got the legacy grub menu and when I select any option
of boot (either windows or ubuntu), I'm getting message:

error: sparse files not allowed. Press any key to continue.

I found some manaul and removed the following lines doing via that
manual:

recordfail=1
if [ -n ${have_grubenv} ]; then save_env recordfail; fi

So, when I removed these entries, the system booted just fine.

I have no idea why these two lines would cause a problem, but they appear to.
There already were same bugs, I've seen(one of them more than 9 years ago
started (#464743 e.g.)).
Is it so hard to fix this?

[Bug 1872527] Re: Clipboard doesn't work 100% of the time in Ubuntu 20.04 (in KVM guests)

2020-11-01 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Thanks Jakub for that confirmation!

But as discussed before that most likely means we can't fix it in Focal
as the updates needed bring too much regression potential for a low prio
issue that has alternative (to admit - non perfect) workarounds (e.g.
the disabling of the clipboard - which avoids the issue but doesn't give
you what you actually want).

It was very interesting to hear that a guest only update was enough for you to
fix it. I wonder if even older guests - let us say Bionic - are affected as
well or if now in between Bionic being fixed Focal is the only bad one?
Do you happen to know about Bionic guests behavior?

Finally for Windows guests I have no idea what to do about, the spice
guest bits there are not created from the same source/provider. But if
indeed a guest update helped the Linux guest, then a guest update might
help Windows as well. Did upgrading the host make any difference for
this case when you used a Windows guest?

[Bug 1902406] Re: ubiquity kubuntu 20.10 install screens truncated

2020-11-01 Thread Gene Soo
I am a Kubuntu user and do not know all of the group responsibilities.
If anyone knows the proper group responsibility, I welcome that this
record is reassigned to the appropriate group.

I've experienced the issue reported by the record
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407058#c9.

I would submit that this may be appropriate if you follow the navigation
"Try Kubuntu", attempt to change the display Resolution to higher than
800x600 which is not performed, and then Install Kubuntu. My impression
was that Ubiquity is responsible for the entire install process. If that
is not the case then please forward this to the correct group.

No matter which group is responsible, the user should not be forced to
change display resolutions during the install process and be exposed to
truncated information.

Happens in every app: Gnome Terminal, Xterm, Chrome, login screen.

It's only in some places, such as terminal or Chrome URL bar where the
character displays, but the wrong behaviour is everywhere.

There are no accessibility settings turned on.

[Bug 1872159] Re: Boot animation never finishes, especially when external monitors (or just more than one) are connected

2020-11-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package plymouth - 0.9.5-0ubuntu3

---
plymouth (0.9.5-0ubuntu3) hirsute; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/git_screens_resolution.patch:
- don't limit the resolution to the lower screen one
  * debian/patches/git_set_translations.patch:
- do the setlocale configuration even when there is no initrd, fixes
the translations not showing up when testing in a session

  [ Daniel van Vugt ]
  * debian/patches/timeout-for-ping.patch: Raise the ping timeout from 2 to
30 seconds. Two seconds was way too short,
- causing ping to randomly fail on some busy multi-monitor start-ups,
- causing gdm to think no plymouthd is running,
- causing gdm to never call 'plymouth deactivate',
- causing plymouthd to retain ownership of the graphics hardware,
- causing gdm's login screen to fail to start. (LP: #1872159)

[Bug 1767431] Re: restore type-ahead find, again

2020-11-01 Thread OzzyFrank
Hi. I finally upgraded to 18.04 and Nautilus without type-ahead find is
extremely limiting when it comes to file/folder navigation. I can't even
fathom why it would be dropped. But if search is now the default action
for when one starts typing, there should be a way to disable that, or
enable type-ahead find, if not in an easily-found, user-friendly way,
then at least as an option in Preferences. I know there is a patched
version available, but I'd rather not have upgrade headaches which can
arise from having patched versions of major system apps, so am just
adding my voice to the countless others on the web begging for action on
this.

[Bug 1902469] [NEW] drm/i915/dp_mst - System would hang during the boot up.

2020-11-01 Thread koba
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
The machine connect with the external monitor on dock(Thunderbolt),
Then system would hang during the boot-up.

[Fix]
The atomic check hooks must look up the encoder to be used with a
connector from the connector's atomic state, and not assume that it's
the connector's current attached encoder. The latter one can change
under the atomic check func, or can be unset yet as in the case of MST
connectors.

[test]
With the patch, The machine connect with the external monitor on
dock(Thunderbolt),
Then system boot up successfully.

[Regression Potential]
Low. This patch is also verified by others.

[Bug 1902464] [NEW] The rear panel of Lenovo P620 doesn't support more than one audio device in at the same time

Here is the test PPA:

Since the upstream not yet accepted those patches, the regression
potential may quite high.

[Bug 1902352] Re: apt-get -u upgrade yields "-bash: /usr/bin/snap: No such file or directory"

That's because you removed the command. To fix this you probably need to
reinstall it:

Alternatively find out which debs are calling 'snap' and remove those
debs. One example I can think of is the deb 'chromium-browser'.

[Bug 1902436] Re: Mouse slow in fractional scaling

2020-11-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This bug is somewhat expected because fractional scaling works by
rendering the desktop at a higher resolution than your screen. So it
will take more mouse movement for the pointer to cross the screen.

Integer scaling doesn't work that way so the mouse should move at
"normal" speed there.

[Bug 1902001] Re: USB keyboard layout incorrect after unplugging and replugging

2020-11-01 Thread koyakun
Sorry if I filed it under the wrong package. I was following the
recommendations on this page for hardware problems:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs
which led me to here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#Hardware_Malfunctions
which says: "If a piece of hardware is malfunctioning, typically the problem
package is the kernel."

I don't know which package controls xprop or xkb, but this page from 2012,
which "is potentially out of date as of Intrepid due to input-hotplug":
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKeyboardDetection
says: "Keyboard related bugs should initially be filed against xorg, as bugbot
will switch it to the correct package (ex. xserver-xorg-input-evdev). If the
bug turns out to be a kernel bug or a bug in another package, bug triagers can
assign the bug additionally to that package and mark the
xserver-xorg-input-evdev task as invalid."

Would you like me to change it to xorg, or should I let someone more
knowledgeable than me handle it?

[Bug 1902457] Re: regression: no sound cards detected on lenovo yoga c930 after focal->groovy upgrade

2020-11-01 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1902457/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

I have updated to 20.10 and can confirm disabling scroll lock workaround

Another thing i've just realized is without this hack, there is a huge
lag during lock/unlock/login animations. Commenting scroll lock line in
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/br made animations a lot better.

[Bug 1871794] Re: [Bluetooth] No audio output/input in HSP/HFP mode

2020-11-01 Thread smurf
@Hui Wang,
actually I can't switch to hsp/hfp mode.
In BlueMan device window, if I try to switch profile I receive an error (the
red bar at window bottom) and in Pulseaudio I don't have the option to switch.
Furthermore, in Blueman window manager, when I connect the headphone I see an
orange button with an orange bar above, a green button with no bar above and a
blue button with a blue bar above.
If I use a tp-link dongle I see the green bar as well.
On the same laptop I have windows 10 (dual boot) and there the headphone
microphone works fine.

Here lspci and lusb output, let me know if you need some more info.

[Bug 1902459] [NEW] Live session start makes annoying loud sound

2020-11-01 Thread William Grant
Public bug reported:

The start of an Ubuntu 20.04 LTS live session, where it asks whether you
want to Try or Install, makes an annoying loud chiming noise. One of the
last things I want when troubleshooting with live media is to have to
quickly hit the mute button to avoid angering everyone around me -- IMO
computers should be seen and not heard, unless explicitly asked.

python-pyasn1-modules: 0.2.1-0.2

Certmonger failed to renew certs on time and they expired. Rolled back
the date as per various online suggestions but continually receive the
same "903 (RPC failed at server. an internal error has occurred)".
Apache error log shows a pyasn1 error (getcert list and apache log
excerpt below).

Certs are being generated and appear in the GUI under Authentication >
Certificates. 2 new certificates are created each time certmonger tries.
for krbtgt/myrealm@myrealm.com and
ldap/ipa01.mydomain@myrealm.com. Notably, trying to view the
generated certificates in the gui generates the same 903 / pyasn1 error.
