[Bug 1907432] Re: Raspberry Pi 400 Kernel Panic
@juergh I've seen both the "bare" reboot: Power down followed by a long- ish delay and a kernel panic, and the repeated rcu_preempt messages that you posted in comment 10 under 1008. Neither appear to occur in 1007 so I'm guessing they might both be symptoms of the same issue? I'll see if I can hook up a serial console to a 400 this weekend and see if I can goad it into producing the kernel panic to get some legible output. My rough observations are the rcu_preempt error occurs most of the time (I haven't seen the "bare" reboot: Power down error in a while), but I've definitely seen both under 1008 with the former the more common one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1907432 Title: Raspberry Pi 400 Kernel Panic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1907432/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1907869] [NEW] Weird audio problems UR22C
Public bug reported: Occurs only with my audio interface Steinberg UR22C, which is connected via USB-C. This is a regression. Latest kernel known to work properly was: linux-image-5.4.0-48-generic. (If I boot my current system with this one, everything's working fine.) As far as I can tell this broke with vthe v5.4.0-51 update. ## Problem 1: On reboot: after a few seconds playback stops (and freezes the application that was currently playing audio). ### For v5.4.0-56 This happens only once after each boot. Works fine after closing the hanging player. ### With v5.4.0-51 This used to occur again and again, plus the playback freeze was permanent. Workaround: pulseaudio --kill +then: pulseaudio --start until the next freeze would happen) ### Characteristics Audio would suddenly go completely silent. ## Problem 2: Applies to v5.4.0-56 After starting some playback the first few seconds will also "contain" some unpleasant weird crackles. So, I took 1007 from the repository and repeated the force-command suggested by @waveform. Thx for the workaround, yes, this Kernel does not lead to a Panic. Hi, first of all I don' t know why I did' t receive any notification of this bug report. Second, and to clarify, I being using screen command since 2000 (which Is my beginning as Linux admin). This being said, I know how it works. All my other Ubuntu upgrades from 18.04 to 20.04, this does not happen (I do not have time yet to test it in a new Ubuntu 20.04, maybe later in a VM). Simple test: open screen. Just close you terminal (not exit...). When I want to recover screen session with screen -x, is gone, none, nothing... The problem arises in the normal course of applying updates and not from user tinkering (see #1). $ uname -a Linux OptiPlex-380 5.4.0-47-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 4 19:50:52 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ journalctl -b -k | grep -m 1 -A 3 "API mismatch" Dec 11 21:07:00 OptiPlex-380 kernel: NVRM: API mismatch: the client has the version 455.38, but NVRM: this kernel module has the version 440.100. Please NVRM: make sure that this kernel module and all NVIDIA driver NVRM: components have the same version. $ apt-cache depends linux-modules-nvidia-455-generic linux-modules-nvidia-455-generic Depends: linux-modules-nvidia-455-5.4.0-54-generic Depends: nvidia-kernel-common-455 Depends: nvidia-kernel-common-455 There's no nvidia kernel module for 455 and 5.4.0-47 and hence the broken system. Boot 5.4.0-54 and everything works. Upgrade[boot] 5.4.0-57 and the system breaks again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1900584 Title: Regression: suspend/wake-up no longer working properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1900584/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1900008] Re: Sessions of screen does not keep running in background
That's interesting, I just performed your suggested test, and I couldn't reproduce - it's a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 install, running MATE (not KDE!) and GNU screen 4.8.0-1. After closing the terminal, I've opened another one and "screen -x" worked fine, as expected. Could you try to use MATE / Gnome to perform your test? So we can isolate it to KDE (or not). Also, which version of screen is installed in your system? [Bug 1907432] Re: Raspberry Pi 400 Kernel Panic
Quick note on a workaround: I've found on my pi400 that reverting to kernel 1007 works around the issue. If you've still got 1007 installed (a quick "ls /boot" should confirm that if you see lots of *-1007-raspi files lying around) you can temporarily switch to it like so: $ sudo flash-kernel --force 5.8.0-1007-raspi This will force flash-kernel to copy the older kernel (and dtbs etc.) to the boot partition instead of the latest (obviously you need to reboot afterward to use the 1007 kernel). flash-kernel will warn in its output that installing another kernel will just overwrite this, but that's *probably* what you want anyway (assuming the next upgrade fixes this).

[Bug 1904419] Re: Upgrade glibc 2.32 by required upstream patches
Ok, just wanted to be sure - this will justify a glibc SRU. (clicking the bug number earlier opened it as LP bug, which is wrong and is usually an indicator for me that it's an internal IBM BZ number - but I've found the glibc upstream BZs now thx ...) I've created a first SRU justification based on upstream info and added it to the bug description above. And I've also marked this bug as 'regression' (add it as tag) and such regressions are usually marked (in LP) as critical as well. ** Tags added: regression ** Changed in: ubuntu-z-systems Importance: High => Critical ** Description changed: + SRU Justification: + + [Impact] + + * The glibc version 2.32 in groovy has some regressions with the + following impact: + + * A regression that got introduced by commit + ffd178c651b827f24acead02284abbb12f3f723b can lead to a crash, because + __shmctl calls shmid_to_shmid64 on the input buffer even when cmd is + IPC_INFO. [Bug 1907761] Re: vanishing kernel 5.4.0-56-generic
OK I have now officially had enough of this ToyTown Distro. You make a severe CRITICAL mistake and then try to triage it away by insisting we use a tool that simply does not work. This bug is not even assigned to anyone yet. That tells me everything I need to know about whether to persist with this idiocy. Not only are you feckless cretins, you are also incapable of fixing your own mess. And the reporting procedures are hopeless. [Bug 1890448] Re: hwdb: Add EliteBook to use micmute hotkey
@kaihengfeng, can we skip Xenial since that goes ESM soon? ** Description changed: [Impact] Micmute hotkey on many HP EliteBooks don't work. [Fix] Commit b6eb208b29ae ("hwdb: Add EliteBook to use micmute hotkey"), to map AT keyboard's scancode to micmute hotkey. [Test] With the one-liner fix, micmute hotkey works on all the EliteBooks I tested. [Regression Potential] The hwdb originally only matches a few EliteBook, and fix changes that to match all EliteBook models. So if there's an EliteBook that uses the scancode for other purpose, there will be a regression. However, the risk is rather slim because HP is confident that all EliteBooks use the same scancode for mic mute hotkey. + + [scope] + + this is needed for f and earlier. + + this is fixed upstream by commit b6eb208b29ae which is included starting + in v246, so g and later are already fixed. ** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Bionic) Assignee: (unassigned) => Dan Streetman (ddstreet) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Focal) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Focal) Assignee: (unassigned) => Dan Streetman (ddstreet) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890448 Title: hwdb: Add EliteBook to use micmute hotkey To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1890448/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
