[Bug 1908638] Re: mounts to polydirs not working
>> Is "checkmounted" a standard / API function somewhere? > No, that would be a new option to be added. Are you thinking of an xml config option? e.g.: If so, another option like "ignoresource" might be useful. I'm thinking something like: checkmounted="0/1/true/false" When 1/true: don't make mount attempt if volume is already mounted When 0/false: attempt mount without checking if already mounted Default: 1/true ignoresource="0/1/true/false" (Only evaluated when checkmounted=1/true) When 1/true: only require mountpoint to be already used When 0/false: require both mountpoint and source to match Default: 0/false >> I'm not seeing how the path gets to be unpredictable (at least for NFS on the linked bug). It looks more like vpt->volume might be failing to match the source path in pmt_utabent_matches as a result of certain xml configs because it's using the content of the path element verbatim instead of constructing it from multiple elements (e.g. 'path="nfs:/home/prisoners/p"' vs. 'server="nfs" path="/home/prisoners/p"') as happens in pmt_vol_to_dev. > Interesting, I was not aware of this function. Still there could be other functions applied. for example I have path="/dev/disk/by- label/home" which is passed to mount.crypt and transformed to /dev/mapper/_dev_nvme0n1p3 in the mount output. This is done in dmc_crypto_name but it could be a function outside of pam_mount as well. After more looking around, it looks like pam_utabent_matches really ought to be using vpt->combopath instead of vpt->volume since it is being set reliably in mount_op and defaults to being a copy of vpt->volume. I have submitted a merge request with pam_mount upstream for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1908638 Title: mounts to polydirs not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libpam-mount/+bug/1908638/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1861088]
In Kubuntu 20.04, I put the same panels and widgets on each monitor. Recently, all of those panels and widgets disappeared from my external monitor. It would be very nice if I could clone an existing panel (along with all the widgets on that panel) and drag that copy to the edge of my external monitor (that lost all panels for no apparent reason). But, in KDE, each panel has to be created from scratch and customized; you can't clone an "already customized existing panel". Even better, I wish I could right click on an external monitor and tell KDE to clone all panels and widget of another monitor. The current status of this is "CLOSED NOT A BUG". It should instead be "Open Feature Request". Automation is the natural progression of any project: you eliminate steps that can be performed automatically through programming. This would be a nice feature. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1861088 Title: Include Default Panels on All Monitors By Default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdelibs/+bug/1861088/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1909843] [NEW] high CPU usage when running nothing
Public bug reported: Hello, After a month of work, with countless hours and problems debugging, I finally had something working with openstack-ansible (branch master) and Ubuntu 20.04 deploy and infra/compute nodes. I have took Ussuri release with Ubuntu 20.04. Everything (except heat and Designate) is working ok. But I'm experimenting a pretty high load while the three computes have only one instance, running basically only top. Rabbitmq has high load, so is mariadb and even haproxy. Like I said, nothing is running in the stack beside one instances running top. I've been trying to figure out why all the CPU cicles are taken but I haven't been able to find the source. [Bug 1909840] [NEW] SDXC card reader not working properly
Public bug reported: I have tried to use a 8GB flash and it works without any flaw in ubuntu 20.04, kernel 5.4.0-58-generic (machine: Ideapad 130s-11IGM), but i need to use my 128GB SDXC card and it only works in my windows system in the same machine. [Bug 1909835] [NEW] OGRE_BITES_HAVE_SDL flag set to 0, which disables basic Input / Ouput Functionality
Public bug reported: It appears the OGRE_BITES_HAVE_SDL compilation flag is set to zero when this package was compiled. I think it makes more sense to set it to 1, and make SDL a dependency of libOgre on ubuntu (And, see below, I *think* the maintainer of ogre agrees with me, hopefully I didn't put words in their mouth!): - if you're using OGRE, it seems unlikely that you're running on a headless machine. - if you're not running on a headless machine, I believe SDL2 is usually automatically installed (it was for me). - the OGRE tutorials assume you're running the library with SDL enabled - since it's a compilation flag, it can be non-trivial to track down the issues that result when trying to follow the tutorial - namely, the input listeners silently fail, since they're never called, since SDL isn't present. - It's true that, if I play devil's advocate, you could argue that the Ogre package should expose a header file that you can extend and use SDL with, or have some other method of enabling SDL integration without recompiling the library. However, the overhead of providing an SDL- enabled package seems quite small, and since the reasonable option to enable Input / Output with a program using Ogre without this enabled is to "compile ogre from source" - IOW, don't use the package, well, it seems that enabling this in the package may be the best course of action. A brief discussion on the OGRE forums with the ogre maintainer: https://forums.ogre3d.org/viewtopic.php?p=549964#p549964 My package information (yes, I'm using PopOS, but I believe is an ubuntu package, so... well, hopefully that doesn't turn you folks off to a reasonable solution. I did purchase my System76 computer just recently, so I am putting some money into the ecosystem!) [Bug 1767654] Re: [Intel Braswell] Cursor gets stuck on left side of the screen
@tonypanduru I'd like to share a slightly improved workaround on this for those still dealing with the issue. The core problem seems to be that the mouse cursor can go into a negative X position by one pixel when moved to the far left of the screen. With either the now obsolete intel proprietary driver or the current intel modesetting driver, this causes issues (exact symptoms are different for each, but seem to be from the same root cause). My previous workaround got by this by scaling the entire desktop to 99.99% of its former size. This prevented the cursor from getting to the -1 X position, but came at a cost of lost performance and some screen tearing in videos and games. This was due to a bilinear filter being applied by xrandr to the whole desktop to accommodate the slight re- size. The following command avoids this issue and instead merely shifts the entire desktop right one pixel. It still works around the issue, but seems to avoid the overhead of resizing the whole desktop (which preserves display integrity and performance). xrandr --output HDMI-3 --transform 1,0,-1,0,1,0,0,0,1 It would be nice to get a root cause fix for this, but this workaround seems to do the trick with very little downside. As before, replace the "HDMI-3" with the name of your active display (found by running xrandr with no options) and place the command in your ~/.xprofile (or make a startup app entry in your desktop manager). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767654 Title: [Intel Braswell] Cursor gets stuck on left side of the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1767654/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Guys in almost all of my laptops and pcs I have spinning disks and in ubuntu 18.04 where ureadahead was preinstalled I noticed that was actually doing a great job (had 20secs difference: 1min 17s boot time with ureadahead and 1min 37s without). Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1909821/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1396379] Re: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise
@ket I agree that this is frustrating. You shouldn't have to reformat your disk to fix it, however. You should be able to plug in the device with your newly installed Ubuntu, boot up until you see the grub prompt asking you what system you want to boot, and then choose the old Ubuntu version on your hard disk. The other alternative to reformatting is to boot from the install CD to make repairs. Getting back to not having to plug in the old device involves changing a file on your hard disks efi partition, ubuntu/grub.cfg in order to point it back to the original disk partition you want to boot from. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1396379 Title: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1396379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1909821] [NEW] During installation error "An error occurred while configuring encrypted" causes data loss
Public bug reported: Briefly: The ubuntu 20.04 installer writes things to disk before the "security prompt" is issued, and without notifying the user, causing massive data loss. To reproduce: - During installation select one volume as "physical volume for encryption" (One that already is a LUKS volume. For example one from an identical install made minutes earlier). - press "back" - advance, and select the same volume as physical volume for encryptiona gain - A popup will appear (which did not appear the first time) "an error occurred while configuring encrypted volumes - the configuration has been aborted" - Cancel installation - Realize that changes were written to disk, and the original LUKS volume is now inacessible, and all data is lost, even though you never pressed "continue" and never agreed to write any changes to disk I first posted this here, but it is clearly reproducible https://askubuntu.com/questions/1304307/luks-encrypted-disk-gives-error-wrong-fs-type-bad-option-bad-superblock-on ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909821 Title: During installation error "An error occurred while configuring encrypted" causes data loss To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1909821/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1909816] [NEW] asterisk spams console output to syslog due to systemd misconfiguration

The problem isn't the message, the problem is that stdout of asterisk service is continuously logged to syslog, despite asterisk already having a perfectly usable logging system which can be configured to log to file, or to syslog itself. Moreover, the ANSI codes aren't stripped, which makes the log look awful. after chatting in #ubuntu, i've been told I can fix this problem by the following: systemctl edit asterisk and adding the following to the override file: [Service] StandardOutput=null StandardError=null This indeed fixes the output spam and I can further edit /etc/asterisk/logger.conf to log stuff to syslog if I so wish, using the correct methods. So, I think the bug is that asterisk service definition file should include these stdout/stderr definitions by default. Thanks for looking into this. [Bug 1909806] Re: [pluma] text autohyphenated on word wrap with pango >1.43
This bug, it seems, has been willfully created by Matthias Clasen and Behdad Esfahbod who, driven by linguistic purism, seem to be blissfully unaware of the effect on unimportant minor usecases like e.g. code editors, filemanagers, scientific software etc. They call this bug a 'feature'. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/pango/-/issues/401 This 'feature' broke already Caja, Pluma, Nautilus, Gedit and probably some more. Is it possible to disable this 'feature' at the source ? or better: Is there a pango patch to change this 'feature' from opt-out to opt-in ? Re: [Bug 1645011] Re: CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad driver errors
Hi, I had bought a no-name chinese laptop in a case that is similar to MacBook Air. its trackpad was not recognized correctly and did not have Linux drivers. I had solved this problem by disabling that nasty trackpad. It was nasty because this way or the other I touched it frequently and it had sent my mouse cursor to the edge of the screen - so anyway it was unusable. In Windows it worked fine, but I don't use Windows. [Bug 1909811] [NEW] Could not find or load main class org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool when launching hsqldb-sqltool
Public bug reported: To reproduce: 1. Ensure libhsqldb-hava and hsqldb-utils are installed. 2. Open a terminal window and run hsqldb-sqltool Alternatively: 1. Start HSQLDB in server mode 2. Try to stop the running instance by running: java -cp $CLASSPATH:/usr/share/java/hsqldbutil.jar:/usr/share/java/hsqldb.jar "org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool" --inlineRc=url=jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost/$DB_NAME,user=SA,password= --sql="SHUTDOWN;" Expected result: I get the HSQLDB command-line interface (or at least a message about missing parameters). For the alternative use case, the DB shuts down. Actual result: In both cases, the CLI fails to launch with the following error: Error: Could not find or load main class org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool Additional information: This worked without issues on Ubuntu 18.04 but stopped working after I upgraded to 20.04. I suspect there is something wrong with the JARs in the libhsqldb-java package on 20.04. Looking at the contents of libhsqldb-java, I see it installs two jar files: hsqldb-2.4.1.jar and hsqldbutil-2.5.0.jar. This looks to me as if the two JARs are taken from different versions. As Fred Toussi (maintainer of HSQLDB) writes at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/65514193/hsqldb-command-line- shutdown-no-longer-works-after-upgrade, mixing JARs from different releases will not work properly. [Bug 1909799] Re: Raspberry Pi 400 won't power down
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1909799/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1846423]
I experience the same with TB 68.10.0 (64-bit) on Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon (64-bit). Five local calendars are going crazy by reminding me of undeletable reminders, many appointments are lost or cathegories altered & the like. [Bug 1909805] [NEW] libclc-amdgcn missing files for current AMD APUs

[Bug 1396379] Re: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise
This bug has just killed my dual boot machine and I have no idea how to fix it without formatting and reinstalling everything from scratch! How this *critical bug* which was assigned High priority is open since 2014 is beyond my understanding. The installation UI simply lies to the user - it tells you to choose the partition on which to install the boot loader and then disregards it completely and installs wherever it wants, that's really dangerous!
