[Bug 1908638] Re: mounts to polydirs not working

2021-01-01 Thread Evan Linde
>> Is "checkmounted" a standard / API function somewhere?

> No, that would be a new option to be added.

Are you thinking of an xml config option? e.g.:

If so, another option like "ignoresource" might be useful. I'm thinking
something like:

checkmounted="0/1/true/false"
When 1/true: don't make mount attempt if volume is already mounted
When 0/false: attempt mount without checking if already mounted
Default: 1/true
ignoresource="0/1/true/false"
(Only evaluated when checkmounted=1/true)
When 1/true: only require mountpoint to be already used
When 0/false: require both mountpoint and source to match
Default: 0/false

>> I'm not seeing how the path gets to be unpredictable (at least for
NFS on the linked bug). It looks more like vpt->volume might be failing
to match the source path in pmt_utabent_matches as a result of certain
xml configs because it's using the content of the path element verbatim
instead of constructing it from multiple elements (e.g.
'path="nfs:/home/prisoners/p"' vs. 'server="nfs"
path="/home/prisoners/p"') as happens in pmt_vol_to_dev.

> Interesting, I was not aware of this function. Still there could be
other functions applied. for example I have path="/dev/disk/by-
label/home" which is passed to mount.crypt and transformed to
/dev/mapper/_dev_nvme0n1p3 in the mount output. This is done in
dmc_crypto_name but it could be a function outside of pam_mount as well.

After more looking around, it looks like pam_utabent_matches really
ought to be using vpt->combopath instead of vpt->volume since it is
being set reliably in mount_op and defaults to being a copy of
vpt->volume. I have submitted a merge request with pam_mount upstream
for this.

@qubalaz I can report a new bug but running `ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-

upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 is bringing me to this page. So I think
that's why folks are reporting the bug here.

[Bug 1861088]

2021-01-01 Thread 5-kde
In Kubuntu 20.04, I put the same panels and widgets on each monitor.

Recently, all of those panels and widgets disappeared from my external
monitor.

It would be very nice if I could clone an existing panel (along with all
the widgets on that panel) and drag that copy to the edge of my external
monitor (that lost all panels for no apparent reason). But, in KDE, each
panel has to be created from scratch and customized; you can't clone an
"already customized existing panel".

Even better, I wish I could right click on an external monitor and tell
KDE to clone all panels and widget of another monitor.

The current status of this is "CLOSED NOT A BUG". It should instead be
"Open Feature Request". Automation is the natural progression of any
project: you eliminate steps that can be performed automatically through
programming. This would be a nice feature.

[Bug 1909843] [NEW] high CPU usage when running nothing

2021-01-01 Thread Martin
Public bug reported:

Hello,

After a month of work, with countless hours and problems debugging, I
finally had something working with openstack-ansible (branch master) and
Ubuntu 20.04 deploy and infra/compute nodes.

I have took Ussuri release with Ubuntu 20.04. Everything (except heat
and Designate) is working ok. But I'm experimenting a pretty high load
while the three computes have only one instance, running basically only
top.

Rabbitmq has high load, so is mariadb and even haproxy. Like I said,
nothing is running in the stack beside one instances running top. I've
been trying to figure out why all the CPU cicles are taken but I haven't
been able to find the source. The systems have 8 cores and 64GB of RAM.

Is that a bug on the current release? Is there something I can do?

[Bug 1909840] [NEW] SDXC card reader not working properly

2021-01-01 Thread Bruno Luis dos Santos Costa
Public bug reported:

I have tried to use a 8GB flash and it works without any flaw in ubuntu
20.04, kernel 5.4.0-58-generic (machine: Ideapad 130s-11IGM), but i need
to use my 128GB SDXC card and it only works in my windows system in the
same machine. I am "able" to copy files to it in ubuntu (to the 128GB
SDXC card) but most of the copies appear as corrupted files, which does
not happen in windows. The 8GB card had been tested by f3 in ubuntu and
h2testw in windows, and the SDXC had been tested by h2testw in windows
(testing the SDXC with f3 in ubuntu causes input/output error), so i
assume there are no problems in the sd cards.

I think that this problem is related to (or almost the same as)

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202473

[Bug 1881684] Re: GIMP Python Plugins Won't Run in Ubuntu 20.04

2021-01-01 Thread AlfyBoy
I had a problem when:

wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/pygtk/python-
gtk2_2.24.0-6_amd64.deb

04 Not Found
2021-01-01 14:10:54 ERROR 404: Not Found.

and

wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/gimp/gimp-
python_2.10.8-2_amd64.deb

404 Not Found
2021-01-01 14:17:58 ERROR 404: Not Found.

So i found them here:

http://mirror.ip-projects.de/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/pygtk/

https://packages.debian.org/buster/amd64/gimp-python/download

Now GIMP python-based plugins are running. If it is useful to anyone.

[Bug 1909836] [NEW] iwlwifi crashes when getting image from IPWebcam

2021-01-01 Thread Ondřej Bojar
Public bug reported:

I am getting "Microcode SW error detected. Restarting 0x8200."
dmesg after making http/https request to a particular web server.

I have Lenovo Yoga 370, Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS, after fresh apt-get update and
upgrade.
I normally (heavily) use wifi for all the possible things.

One single particular Android app which allows to use cell phone cameras
as webcams via http or https causes iwlwifi to crash. Fully
reproducible.

To reproduce:
1. Download to your android cell phone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pas.webcam&hl=en&gl=US
2. Connect both the computer and the cell phone to the same wifi.
3. Get the auto-focussed image from the cell phone by requesting:
http://192.168.0.103:8080/photoaf.jpg (replace the IP with the IP of your cell
phone)
4. (You *will* get the image correctly downloaded.)
5. Observe "No networks available notification", see dmesg (attached).

Following this tip:

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=1641176&sid=a97b63d2196745139e281ff7a3b40dc2#p1641176
I saw that 16.04 only had 3 versions:
  ls /lib/firmware/ | grep 9260
iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-33.ucode
iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode
iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-38.ucode

So I tried manually downloading the driver and adding it there:
  sudo mv iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-46.ucode /lib/firmware/

I do not know if it got activated at all.

In any case, the crash persists even after the restart.

[Bug 1909835] [NEW] OGRE_BITES_HAVE_SDL flag set to 0, which disables basic Input / Ouput Functionality

2021-01-01 Thread Stu S
Public bug reported:

It appears the OGRE_BITES_HAVE_SDL compilation flag is set to zero when
this package was compiled.

I think it makes more sense to set it to 1, and make SDL a dependency of
libOgre on ubuntu (And, see below, I *think* the maintainer of ogre
agrees with me, hopefully I didn't put words in their mouth!):

- if you're using OGRE, it seems unlikely that you're running on a
headless machine.

- if you're not running on a headless machine, I believe SDL2 is usually
automatically installed (it was for me).

- the OGRE tutorials assume you're running the library with SDL enabled
- since it's a compilation flag, it can be non-trivial to track down the
issues that result when trying to follow the tutorial - namely, the
input listeners silently fail, since they're never called, since SDL
isn't present.

- It's true that, if I play devil's advocate, you could argue that the
Ogre package should expose a header file that you can extend and use SDL
with, or have some other method of enabling SDL integration without
recompiling the library. However, the overhead of providing an SDL-
enabled package seems quite small, and since the reasonable option to
enable Input / Output with a program using Ogre without this enabled is
to "compile ogre from source" - IOW, don't use the package, well, it
seems that enabling this in the package may be the best course of
action.

A brief discussion on the OGRE forums with the ogre maintainer:

https://forums.ogre3d.org/viewtopic.php?p=549964#p549964

My package information (yes, I'm using PopOS, but I believe is an ubuntu
package, so... well, hopefully that doesn't turn you folks off to a
reasonable solution. I did purchase my System76 computer just recently,
so I am putting some money into the ecosystem!)

If I should be reporting this to System76 instead, just let me know, but
this seemed like the best place to start!

[Bug 1767654] Re: [Intel Braswell] Cursor gets stuck on left side of the screen

2021-01-01 Thread Bob Lawrence
@tonypanduru

I'd like to share a slightly improved workaround on this for those still
dealing with the issue. The core problem seems to be that the mouse
cursor can go into a negative X position by one pixel when moved to the
far left of the screen. With either the now obsolete intel proprietary
driver or the current intel modesetting driver, this causes issues
(exact symptoms are different for each, but seem to be from the same
root cause).

My previous workaround got by this by scaling the entire desktop to
99.99% of its former size. This prevented the cursor from getting to the
-1 X position, but came at a cost of lost performance and some screen
tearing in videos and games. This was due to a bilinear filter being
applied by xrandr to the whole desktop to accommodate the slight re-
size.

The following command avoids this issue and instead merely shifts the
entire desktop right one pixel. It still works around the issue, but
seems to avoid the overhead of resizing the whole desktop (which
preserves display integrity and performance).

xrandr --output HDMI-3 --transform 1,0,-1,0,1,0,0,0,1

It would be nice to get a root cause fix for this, but this workaround
seems to do the trick with very little downside. As before, replace the
"HDMI-3" with the name of your active display (found by running xrandr
with no options) and place the command in your ~/.xprofile (or make a
startup app entry in your desktop manager).

2021-01-01 Thread Eric Boucher

sudo apt-get install build-essential libelf-dev linux-headers-`uname -r`
(Installation des dépendances.)
apt-get install rtl8812au-dkms --reinstall (N'AS PAS RÉGLÉ LE PROBLEME && Test
si dépendance aussi active pour le packet officiel)
sudo make dkms_install (Je suis toujours dans le dossier pris du git donc je
lance la solution du git.)

RÉSULTAT :
8812au, 5.6.4.2_35491.20191025, 5.4.0-59-generic, x86_64: installed
rtl8812au, 4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg, 5.4.0-59-generic, x86_64: installed

J'ai finalement débranché et rebranché physiquement mon module.

Bonne année 2021 !

[Bug 1690891] Re: Remove ureadahead and libnih

2021-01-01 Thread cptX
Guys in almost all of my laptops and pcs I have spinning disks and in ubuntu
18.04 where ureadahead was preinstalled I noticed that was actually doing a
great job (had 20secs difference: 1min 17s boot time with ureadahead and 1min
37s without).
In ubuntu 20.04 is now removed. I don't understand this approach, if it really
was doing a significant difference. Not all people have or want SSDs! How can I
install it in Ubuntu 20.04 if there is no available package now? I think there
should be the option to install it if somebody wants it!! the package should
remain available!!

[Bug 1909830] [NEW] [USB-Audio - Razer Kraken 7.1 V2, playback] Playback problem | VLC Player works correctly

2021-01-01 Thread Computer Karate
Public bug reported:

USB Headphones do not play test audio from the "Sound" section of the
configuration application if either of the following are true:
3.5mm speakers are plugged into port
HDMI Monitor is attached to computer

VLC Media player is able to properly choose and play through the USB headphones
even if both of the above scenarios occur.
Removing the HDMI monitor and unplugging the 3.5mm speakers allows the
headphones to work as expected.

Rebooting the PC with the USB device plugged in does not make a difference in
output.
The "Sound" section of the configuration page shows the list of output devices
exactly as you would expect.
Selecting the headphones from the list of output devices and choosing "Test"
does not produce sound if either of the above conditions are true.

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release:20.04

I will investigate trying to disable my HDMI as an audio device.

[Bug 1396379] Re: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise

2021-01-01 Thread John S. Gruber
@ket I agree that this is frustrating.

You shouldn't have to reformat your disk to fix it, however. You should
be able to plug in the device with your newly installed Ubuntu, boot up
until you see the grub prompt asking you what system you want to boot,
and then choose the old Ubuntu version on your hard disk.

The other alternative to reformatting is to boot from the install CD to
make repairs.

Getting back to not having to plug in the old device involves changing a
file on your hard disks efi partition, ubuntu/grub.cfg in order to point
it back to the original disk partition you want to boot from.

[Bug 1909822] [NEW] named fails to listen dynamic ipv6 address on startup

2021-01-01 Thread Ko-Zu
Public bug reported:

On rebooting up ubuntu 20.04, named detects available ipv6 address
assigned via router advertisement but fails to listen on it.

`journalctl -b0` shows something like this.
```
Jan 01 15:27:12 cdns named[200]: IPv6 socket API is incomplete; explicitly
binding to each IPv6 address separately
Jan 01 15:27:12 cdns named[200]: listening on IPv6 interface lo, ::1#53
Jan 01 15:27:12 cdns named[200]: listening on IPv6 interface eth0,
fd42:xxx#53
Jan 01 15:27:12 cdns named[200]: creating TCP socket: address not available
```

It seems named.service is starting up too early. I have tried adding
`After=network-online.target` for named.service but nothing changed.

I could reproduce this on LXD container ubuntu-daily:20.04 and current version
bind9/focal-updates,now 1:9.16.1-0ubuntu2.4 amd64 [installed]

```
lxc launch ubuntu-daily:20.04 cdns
lxc exec cdns -- apt install -y bind9
lxc restart cdns
lxc exec cdns -- ss -tupln | grep :53
```

The final command should print that named listening on a unique local address
generated by LXD.
```
tcp LISTEN  010 [fd42:]:53
 [::]:*
```

A few users noticed this issue and posted workaround on askubuntu.
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1261187/dns-server-does-not-listen-on-ipv6-after-a-reboot

Their workaround, delaying service startup resolved this issue for me.

```
# systemctl edit named
[Service]
ExecStartPre=-/bin/sleep 10
```

[Bug 1909821] [NEW] During installation error "An error occurred while configuring encrypted" causes data loss

2021-01-01 Thread B D
Public bug reported:

Briefly:
The ubuntu 20.04 installer writes things to disk before the "security prompt"
is issued, and without notifying the user, causing massive data loss.

To reproduce:
- During installation select one volume as "physical volume for encryption"
(One that already is a LUKS volume. For example one from an identical install
made minutes earlier).
- press "back"
- advance, and select the same volume as physical volume for encryptiona gain
- A popup will appear (which did not appear the first time) "an error occurred
while configuring encrypted volumes - the configuration has been aborted"
- Cancel installation
- Realize that changes were written to disk, and the original LUKS volume is
now inacessible, and all data is lost, even though you never pressed "continue"
and never agreed to write any changes to disk

I first posted this here, but it is clearly reproducible

[Bug 1909699] Re: Please upgrate to Meld 3.21 for Hirsute Hippo

2021-01-01 Thread Balint Reczey
The 3.21.x versions are snapshots from the development branch and the
Debian and Ubuntu packages follow the stable branches to avoid getting
stuck on a Meld development snapshot in a stable Debian release or in an

[Bug 1909816] [NEW] asterisk spams console output to syslog due to systemd misconfiguration

and so on, including all console messages from asterisk.

The problem isn't the message, the problem is that stdout of asterisk
service is continuously logged to syslog, despite asterisk already
having a perfectly usable logging system which can be configured to log
to file, or to syslog itself.

Moreover, the ANSI codes aren't stripped, which makes the log look
awful.

after chatting in #ubuntu, i've been told I can fix this problem by the
following:

systemctl edit asterisk

and adding the following to the override file:

[Service]
StandardOutput=null
StandardError=null

This indeed fixes the output spam and I can further edit
/etc/asterisk/logger.conf to log stuff to syslog if I so wish, using the
correct methods.

So, I think the bug is that asterisk service definition file should
include these stdout/stderr definitions by default.

Thanks for looking into this.

[Bug 1909806] Re: [pluma] text autohyphenated on word wrap with pango >1.43

2021-01-01 Thread thom
This bug, it seems, has been willfully created by Matthias Clasen and Behdad
Esfahbod
who, driven by linguistic purism, seem to be blissfully unaware of the effect
on unimportant minor usecases like e.g. code editors, filemanagers, scientific
software etc. They call this bug a 'feature'.

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/pango/-/issues/401

This 'feature' broke already Caja, Pluma, Nautilus, Gedit and probably
some more.

Is it possible to disable this 'feature' at the source ?
or better:
Is there a pango patch to change this 'feature' from opt-out to opt-in ?
(i.e. default 'off' instead of default 'on' )

[Bug 1645011] Re: CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad driver errors

2021-01-01 Thread Sebastien CELLES
I tried solutions listed in https://askubuntu.com/questions/127757/how-
do-i-make-modprobe-changes-permanent to make modprobe changes permanent
but none was working.

Creating /etc/modprobe.d/touchpad.conf file with
options psmouse proto=imps

doesn't help

Adding

modprobe -r psmouse
modprobe psmouse proto=imps

in /etc/rc.local doesn't help

Adding
@reboot root modprobe -e psmouse && modprobe psmouse proto=imps
using sudoedit /etc/crontab

doesn't help (I don't even know why it could work... nevermind)

I really wonder how to make this change permanent because that's very annoying
to run this 2 commands lines after every startup !

- I'm using
+ I'm using
  - Raspberry Pi4B 8GB
  - Logitech MK120 Keyboard and Mouse (wired).

  How I could reproduce the mentioned crash:
  - Boot and wait (don't touch mouse/keyboard) at login-screen for five minutes

gdm.service
+ - restarting it via Alt+SysRq+k is possible, but login after that fails for
some reason
+
+
+ Workaround:
+ In /etc/gdm3/custom.conf, change #WaylandEnable=false to WaylandEnable=false
+ as described here:

Re: [Bug 1645011] Re: CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad driver errors

2021-01-01 Thread Victor
Hi, I had bought a no-name chinese laptop in a case that is similar to
MacBook Air. its trackpad was not recognized correctly and did not have
Linux drivers. I had solved this problem by disabling that nasty trackpad.
It was nasty because this way or the other I touched it frequently and it
had sent my mouse cursor to the edge of the screen - so anyway it was
unusable. In Windows it worked fine, but I don't use Windows.

[Bug 1865566] Re: Large Page support disabled on Raspberry Pi kernels

2021-01-01 Thread sven oehme
i also have to recompile my kernel all the time to enable it and i am
running with this since beginning of 20.04 release. it would be nice if
the default kernel just has the right kernel config and leave it to the
user if they want to configure them or not.

[Bug 1645011] Re: CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad driver errors

2021-01-01 Thread Sebastien CELLES
Hello,

I own a ENZ C16BI76240G Notebook
https://www.gearbest.com/laptops/pp_707534.html and I'm facing a similar
issue with its trackpad which is not correctly recognised.

```
$ xinput --list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer  (3)]
⎜   ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer   id=4 [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013  id=9 [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 Consumer Control id=10 [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad  id=16 [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboardid=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard  id=5 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=6 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Video Busid=7 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Sleep Button id=8 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 System Control id=11 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 Keyboard id=12 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013  id=13 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=15 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 Consumer Control id=17 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ USB2.0 Camera: USB2.0 Camera id=14 [slave  keyboard (3)]
```

After typing in console

sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

trackpad is working fine.

```
$ xinput --list
⎡ Virtual core pointer  id=2[master pointer  (3)]
⎜   ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013   id=9[slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 Consumer Control  id=10   [slave  pointer
 (2)]
⎜   ↳ ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouseid=16   [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard   id=5[slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button  id=6[slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Video Bus id=7[slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Sleep Button  id=8[slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 System Controlid=11   [slave
keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 Keyboard  id=12   [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013   id=13   [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard  id=15   [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder 2013 Consumer Control  id=17   [slave
keyboard (3)]
↳ USB2.0 Camera: USB2.0 Camera  id=14   [slave  keyboard (3)]
```

Unfortunately I haven't been able to make this change permanent.

I tried to create (as root) a file /etc/modprobe.d/trackpad.conf with
the following content

options psmouse proto=imps

but it didn't help to make change permanent.

Any idea?

[Bug 1909811] [NEW] Could not find or load main class org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool when launching hsqldb-sqltool

2021-01-01 Thread Michael von Glasow
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

1. Ensure libhsqldb-hava and hsqldb-utils are installed.
2. Open a terminal window and run hsqldb-sqltool

Alternatively:

1. Start HSQLDB in server mode
2. Try to stop the running instance by running:
java -cp $CLASSPATH:/usr/share/java/hsqldbutil.jar:/usr/share/java/hsqldb.jar
"org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool"
--inlineRc=url=jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost/$DB_NAME,user=SA,password=
--sql="SHUTDOWN;"

Expected result:

I get the HSQLDB command-line interface (or at least a message about
missing parameters). For the alternative use case, the DB shuts down.

Actual result:

In both cases, the CLI fails to launch with the following error:

Error: Could not find or load main class org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.hsqldb.cmdline.SqlTool

Additional information:

This worked without issues on Ubuntu 18.04 but stopped working after I
upgraded to 20.04. I suspect there is something wrong with the JARs in
the libhsqldb-java package on 20.04.

Looking at the contents of libhsqldb-java, I see it installs two jar
files: hsqldb-2.4.1.jar and hsqldbutil-2.5.0.jar. This looks to me as if
the two JARs are taken from different versions. As Fred Toussi
(maintainer of HSQLDB) writes at
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/65514193/hsqldb-command-line-
shutdown-no-longer-works-after-upgrade, mixing JARs from different
releases will not work properly.

[Bug 1846423]

2021-01-01 Thread Bugzilla-m
I experience the same with TB 68.10.0 (64-bit) on Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon
(64-bit).
Five local calendars are going crazy by reminding me of undeletable reminders,
many appointments are lost or cathegories altered & the like.
In the exported *.ics-file I find exactly the same X-LIC-ERROR.

Is there any workaround?
It is in fact impossible to deal with the load of undeletable reminders that
count into the dozens meanwhile.

[Bug 1909805] [NEW] libclc-amdgcn missing files for current AMD APUs

2021-01-01 Thread Tessa
Public bug reported:

I'm finding that the libclc support for current AMD APUs is missing, at
least for Ryzen 4000 series laptop APUs. when running something like
`hashcat -b --force`, you get the following:

clBuildProgram(): CL_BUILD_PROGRAM_FAILURE

fatal error: cannot open file '/usr/lib/clc/gfx909-amdgcn-mesa-
mesa3d.bc': No such file or directory

* Device #1: Kernel /usr/share/hashcat/OpenCL/shared.cl build failed.

Looking at the package, there's up to gfx906*, so if there's upstream
support for these APUs, it'd be great to get the support packaged in.
I'm filing this in the hope we can get this sorted out pre-21.04.

[Bug 1396379] Re: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise

2021-01-01 Thread Ket
This bug has just killed my dual boot machine and I have no idea how to fix it
without formatting and reinstalling everything from scratch! How this *critical
bug* which was assigned High priority is open since 2014 is beyond my
understanding.
The installation UI simply lies to the user - it tells you to choose the
partition on which to install the boot loader and then disregards it completely
and installs wherever it wants, that's really dangerous!

[Bug 1909802] [NEW] Should build ninfod to support IPv6 Node Information requests

2021-01-01 Thread TJ
Public bug reported:

iputils-ping includes ping6 which can send Node Information requests,
e.g:

ping6 -N name ipv6:addr::ess

but there is no system daemon to listen and respond.

iputils package contains ninfod which performs that function but it
isn't built or packaged.

For IPv6 networks Node Information is a valuable service in that it
allows nodes to enhance ND/NA by providing their FQDN (Name query) and
list of addresses (Addresses query).

See:

https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4620.html#section-6

[Bug 1872452] Re: [amdgpu] Boot into black screen without power supply (Kubuntu on AMD)

2021-01-01 Thread Michael Grupp
The iommu=soft workaround works for me. Without it my T495 was pretty
much useless with Ubuntu.

Here are some detailed instructions for mere mortals:
https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/eb08hk/t495_unplugged_battery_broken_boot_with_linux/

Does anybody know by chance when and how one can install a somewhat
supported Kernel package that has the fix?
