[Bug 1917414] Re: Ceph-osd fails to start with "error while loading shared libraries: cannot make segment writable for relocation: Permission denied"

2021-03-05 Thread AC
So I'm running into the same issue as well. It was working a few days ago even
when I restarted my rpi 4 8gb also running ubuntu 20.04.
I upgraded today and amongst the packages was ceph-osd. Then the rpi stopped
working after a reboot. The last time the pi was upgraded was 2 weeks ago.
This is still just a test cluster so I'm more than happy to do any testing to
figure out what's going on here.

[Bug 1917974] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2021-03-05 Thread José Fernando Durán Pérez
Public bug reported:

I had been using the recommended nvidia driver (nvidia-driver-460). I
recently changed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau for the following
reasons:

1) The resolution configuration was not saved. It is, every power off
and power on the resolution restarted to low resolution.

2) The syslog file in /var/log/ constantly was filled with logs (may be
with a rate of 1 GB per hour), then, I was enforced to install busybox-
syslogd to stop the logging and continue with activities.

3) When using xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, in contrast with nvidia-
driver-460, i didn't had to reset the resolution configuration, which
was great, but now the screen is constantly freezing and i had to use
alt+SysRq+REISUB two times in a day

[Bug 1885474] Re: 1366x768 screen resolution broken, all other resolutions OK

2021-03-05 Thread mike-g2
I have the same issue. As mentioned in reddit thread in OP, the login
screen displays properly at 1366x768. I'm running MATE so I'm not sure
how to implement the workaround @johnnyl33-k mentions for Xubuntu since
there are no reflection options. I will note setting rotation to
'upside-down' in Control Center->Monitor Preference does not suffer from
the tearing the 'normal' rotation does. It's just hard to work upside
down!

[Bug 1917960] Re: lxqt-archiver fails to add new files to empty .tar archive

2021-03-05 Thread Chris Guiver
I repeated #5 a few times without issue, including to different
archive.test2.tar.gz & different source files... without issue??

rebooted the live session so a new environment again and tried again..
no issues??? you

I can no-longer create issue in comment #5 so maybe my steps are
incomplete, or something is missing sorry.

I've had issues yes (twice), but also not had issues too???

[Bug 1917960] Re: lxqt-archiver fails to add new files to empty .tar archive

2021-03-05 Thread Chris Guiver
same session as my comment #2
(note I'd not use a GUI to do this, so cannot rule out errors on my behalf)

- created a new archive "archive.test.tar.gz" using lxqt-archiver
- when I try to add a text file (this time 'ubuntu_bugs-my-responses.txt') I
again get two error boxes open up

Error: Failed to execute the command
Error: Archive not found

Note this is a closer test to what @lynorian did

[Bug 1917960] Re: lxqt-archiver fails to add new files to empty .tar archive

2021-03-05 Thread Chris Guiver
Lubuntu daily QA-test (live) on
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)

I saw @lynorian's comment on #lubuntu-devel, so

- opened `pcmanfm-qt` & navigated to an installed directory (lubuntu
20.04 /home/guiverc/ directory)

- selected a text file (`calamares-settings-ubuntu_20.04.2.dsc`)
- right click & selected "compress"
(a dialog here that selected the type & location for result, .tar.gz but I
didn't care; did it for variations I tried too)

It opens a PROGRESS window and gets to 50%
"Adding file /home/lubuntu"

then

"ERROR
Failed to execute the command (OK)"

Re: [Bug 1816497] Re: [snap] vaapi chromium no video hardware decoding

2021-03-05 Thread Tim Richardson
Google has not removed API access. They have stopped a google key from
working.

It works fine, as far as I can tell. But you need to get your own key. The
well known PPA with VAAPI,
https://launchpad.net/~saiarcot895/+archive/ubuntu/chromium-dev, has always
worked like this.
I use Fedora on another machine, and with my own keys, Chromium works
exactly as before.

[Bug 1895157] Re: Boinc cannot enable RPC access to start client or manager

2021-03-05 Thread Stéphane
In the meanwhile I reverted to the older version from focal:
boinc_7.16.6+dfsg-1_all.deb (from https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/boinc)
boinc-client_7.16.6+dfsg-1_amd64.deb (from
(https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/boinc-client)
boinc-manager_7.16.6+dfsg-1_amd64.deb (from
https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/boinc-manager)
libboinc7_7.16.6+dfsg-1_amd64.deb (from
https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libboinc7)
This solves the issue for me.

I don't use PPA and I prefer to use officially released packages but
thanks for hinting that the issue should become history with hirsute.

[Bug 1917964] [NEW] Groovy update: upstream stable patchset 2021-03-05

2021-03-05 Thread Kamal Mostafa
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

scanner and scans, and this scanner shows up in the Preferences
"Scanner" box, but there's no way to save it on the Preferences screen.

I can't find any way to set and save this preference via application
configuration either. Using dconf-editor I can edit the selected-device
parameter to add my scanner to the selected-devices field but when I
start simple-scan it doesn't see the device. Curiously, if I use dconf-
editor to change the save-directory field, the new directory is used to
save.

I also am unable to find a way to add the scanner type & IP address to
the apps menu launcher.

[Bug 1917942] Re: Desktop icons strangely arranged on secondary monitor

2021-03-05 Thread Janderion Jp
I would like to add, that it seems that the area that the icons display
on the secondary monitor, is the same area as the size of the primary
screen. I just witnessed a notification which normally appears normally
on the primary screen if the only screen was the primary one, but the
notification appeard one third down on the right side of the secondary
monitor.

[Bug 1917958] [NEW] Latest linux-generic package (kernel 4.15.0-136) doesn't work on HyperV Gen2 VM

2021-03-05 Thread Luis Martinez
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 1&2 (so far tested), either when deploying a new VM
(which pulls the latest linux-generic) or rebooting a VM (which updated
the linux-generic under the cover which installs 4.15.0-136) will
prevent the VM to boot.

After reboot, will get stuck on /dev/sdX: clean, x / y files, k / m
blocks.

Using grub, selecting an older kernel, allow the VM to book without any
issues.

I manually installed kernel 4.15.0-135, however the issue doesn't repro.

Finally I've verified that this repro on both Server 2016 and Server
2019 versions of Windows...

Output of /proc/version_signature (both on Server 2016/2019)
Ubuntu 4.15.0-29.31-generic 4.15.18

lspci -vnvn reported empty on this VM.

in my case -- my iscsi target goes sleep by inactivity (i mean a physical

so it probably doesn't have enough time to wake up - between suspending started

This change didn't work for me in bionic
because of this:

/lib/systemd/system/rtslib-fb-targetctl.service:9: Executable path is not
absolute: mkdir -p /etc/rtslib-fb-target

i had to change this:
ExecStart=mkdir -p /etc/rtslib-fb-target

to this:

[Bug 1917954] [NEW] vagrant reports undefined symbol __gmpz_limbs_write

$ vagrant --version
Vagrant 2.2.14

I'm using official vagrant binary (not the ubuntu package)

$ vagrant init hashicorp/bionic64
Vagrant failed to initialize at a very early stage:

There was an error while executing `VBoxManage`, a CLI used by Vagrant
for controlling VirtualBox. The command and stderr is shown below.

Stderr: /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxManage: symbol lookup error: /lib/x86_64

Rebuilding libgnutls from sources fixes the issue, so i think something is
wrong with package.
Would be nice to have official vagrant binary to work straight away.

[Bug 849624]

2021-03-05 Thread Mkmelin+mozilla
Maybe you want to provide a patch?
For addressbook it registers itself here:
https://searchfox.org/comm-central/rev/e80a66e5cdd9fe3915b7979cbf3d7467bcb70cfa/mailnews/addrbook/modules/components.conf#17
 then handles it here:
https://searchfox.org/comm-central/rev/e80a66e5cdd9fe3915b7979cbf3d7467bcb70cfa/mailnews/addrbook/modules/AddrBookManager.jsm#526-539
I don't know if calendar has a suitable module to piggyback on, or if creating
a new module is better.

[Bug 1848211]

2021-03-05 Thread Mark J. Wielaard
(In reply to Balint Reczey from comment #4)
> Please see the linked original bug for the reproducer.

I looked at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/valgrind/+bug/1848211 but I
still don't fully understand how/why/when this happens.

There is some confusion because the patch is for .gnu_debugaltlink but
the bug talks about .gnu_debuglink (but I assume it really is the
altlink).

I think what would be helpful was an explanation of how dh_dwz works. It
looks like it runs dwz before the debuginfo is stripped into separate
files. Which might explain why things look garbled (it should be run on
the split .debug files of the package).

It looks like the original bug was on arm32 with ld.so. But later in the
bug report a x86_64 issue with glib2 library.

[Bug 1914456] Re: 120 sec kernel timeout is seen during SCSI remove_device.

2021-03-05 Thread Guilherme G. Piccoli
Thanks for the clarification Jitendra, and for correcting my command! It
was indeed wrong, apologies - the correct file to write is the one
you've used, "/proc/sysrq-trigger".

So, it seems we have a lock "situation" in iSCSI/scsi, I'll need to study more
the code to understand how that is triggered and if it's expected when removing
a scsi device suddenly. I want to try reproducing this - the data you provided
is useful for that.
Cheers,

Guilherme
