The failure to raise windows on click sounds like
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1660 which is fixed
upstream in 4d54c3c556d753c0b981406937948895141dc1d4. But I doubt that's
the only fix we need.

same here. As the testsuite doesn’t catch this, it clearly means each
shell and mutter updates should be tested both on Xorg and Wayland.

[Bug 1918249] [NEW] Icons in folder pane don't scale for hidpi, breaks rendering

2021-03-08 Thread ts
Public bug reported:

Ever since the update to 78.7.1 (64-bit) Thunderbird attempts at showing
icons next to the folders in the folder pane. Hidpi settings cause the
font to scale, but the icons don't scale (at the same level? at all?).
This entirely breaks the rendering of the folder pane on high resolution
displays with downscaled fonts.

Screenshot attached.

2021-03-08 Thread You-Sheng Yang
@Morgan, please file a new bug so that you can upload apport logs for
your own device for further investigation. And actually I didnot find a
network interface on your PCI bus, maybe you have turned it off in BIOS.

Besides, https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/new-
xps-15-laptop/spd/xps-15-9500-laptop#features_section XPS 9500 doesn't
seem to have a configuration with QCA6390.

Anyway, please file a new bug instead.

Yep, I'd say it's that bug. It's fine under Wayland.

In 21.04 will it be possible to select a Wayland session from the login
screen without commenting out the gdm rule that disables Wayland if the
nvidia module is loaded? I've got prime-select set to on-demand, so
nvidia is loaded even though intel is the main driver, but Wayland still
works - it's just not presented by default and there is no indication
given as to why.

(It'd be even better if nvidia-prime actually worked in Wayland...)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at

[Bug 1918228] [NEW] Fix missing HDMI/DP audio on NVidia card after S3

2021-03-08 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
NVidia DP/HDMI aduio disappears after S3.
This is a regression introduced by LP: #1867704.

[Fix]
Update ELD properly so jack status is correctly reported.

[Test]
Perform S3 and open Sound Settings. With the fix applied, the DP/HDMI
audio is always present after S3.

[Where problems could occur]
This series changes how ELD gets update. So if device depends on the
original behavior, jack status could be wrong after this fix.

[Bug 1918189] Re: Can not share gnome-terminal in Google Meet under xwayland

2021-03-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Actually, it *may* work under Xwayland. I'm not sure. Either way, the
answer is to configure Chrome to use PipeWire. PipeWire is the official
means of screen recording/casting because Wayland by itself does not
allow apps to spy on each other, by design.

If you are having trouble getting PipeWire to work with Chrome then I
suggest turning it into a Chromium bug because that is something we
distribute in Ubuntu and can track bugs for.

If the problem does still happen then please run:

  cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
  rm -rf extensions

and reboot again. If the problem continues to happen after that then
please run:

  gsettings get org.gnome.shell enabled-extensions > ext.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

2021-03-08 Thread Trent Lloyd
It's worth noting that, as best I can understand, the patches won't fix
an already broken filesystem. You have to remove all of the affected
files, and it's difficult to know exactly what files are affected. I try
to guess based on which show a ??? mark in "ls -la". But sometimes the
"ls" hangs, etc.

I've been running zfs-dkms 2.0.2-1ubuntu2 for 24 hours now and so far so
good.. won't call it conclusive but hoping this has solved it. Though I
am thoroughly confused as to what patch solved it, nothing *seems*
relevant. Which is frustrating.

Will try to update in a few days as to whether it definitely hasn't hit,
most of the time I hit it in a day but wasn't strictly 100%.

[Bug 1918189] Re: Can not share gnome-terminal in Google Meet under xwayland

2021-03-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This will never work under Xwayland but it should work using native
Wayland. But Chrome will choose not to use native Wayland by default
(yet). Please try:

  google-chrome --enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-
platform=wayland

and

  chrome://flags/#enable-webrtc-pipewire-capturer

If that doesn't work then one possible reason might be bug 1899224.

[Bug 1901014] Re: please provide SB 4MB TPM enabled firmware for Arm

2021-03-08 Thread dann frazier
AFAICT, there's no need for new images here - we just need to enable TPM
support in our existing builds. I have this queued:

https://salsa.debian.org/qemu-team/edk2/-/commit/3491bed29b4d9fd20b596987fbfa33a256185d02

The existing ARM images already have Secure Boot support. As for the 4MB
aspect, AFAICT, ARM already defaults to the same size as x86:

OvmfPkg/VarStore.fdf.inc:
!if $(FD_SIZE_IN_KB) == 4096
  # Size: 0x4
(gEfiMdeModulePkgTokenSpaceGuid.PcdFlashNvStorageVariableSize) -
  # 0x48 (size of EFI_FIRMWARE_VOLUME_HEADER) = 0x3ffb8

ArmVirtPkg/VarStore.fdf.inc:
  # Size: 0x4
(gEfiMdeModulePkgTokenSpaceGuid.PcdFlashNvStorageVariableSize) -
  # 0x48 (size of EFI_FIRMWARE_VOLUME_HEADER) = 0x3ffb8

[Bug 1879633] Re: Killer 500s (QCA6390) WLAN/BT [17cb:1101] unavailable

2021-03-08 Thread Morgan Touverey Quilling
Hi @vicamo, I virtually tried every method in this thread, notably methods 2
and 3 exposed in the summary, and also virtually every other method I could
find on the web, including those ones:
 -
https://mukaiguy.medium.com/adding-wifi-drivers-to-ubuntu-linux-for-dells-xps-15-9500-with-ax500-f535fb42db70
 -
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1280328/ubuntu-20-04-killer-ax500s-dbs-drivers-support
 (all answers)

But with no success at all.
My laptop is a XPS 9500 running on **Groovy**.

In the end it never worked even if I had all the necessary and up-to-
date firmware files in /lib/firmware/ath11k/, a 5.10+ kernel (custom or
from the focal/hirsute repos), and an up-to-date BIOS.

I've never had any line mentioning the Wifi card in the kernel logs. I'm
quite desperate :)

I must mention that it works on Windows so that's not a hardware issue.

Thanks in advance, I could use any ideas...

[Bug 1767542] Re: Turning off WiFi enables Airplane mode

2021-03-08 Thread Evan Royal
Will this ever get fixed? I need wifi for phone calls sometimes. I get
all the settings juuust right, then bam! Airplane mode. Just for no
reason. I have set it to not save power, ever, for any reason, done the
tweaks. But my settings go back to default after a restart. For some
this not a minor bug. Please don't push me to Windows.

[Bug 1906331] Re: systemd-resolve crashes fairly often (and reports various assertions)

2021-03-08 Thread Dan Streetman
> Do you plan releasing this version on PPA

that was for the hirsute release - are you able to test that
(development) release to ensure the problem is fixed? it's the same
patches as for focal, so it may not be fixed there.

Alternately if you have a test environment (NOT some system that you care
about, as it may break) can you test the latest upstream systemd code from this

[Bug 1907422] Re: [MIR] needrestart + dependencies

2021-03-08 Thread Dan Streetman
I think that more extensive tests should be added in the next cycle, but
for now I think at minimum basic functionality should be checked, for
example just a simple autopkgtest like:

$ sudo needrestart -q -r l

(check for nothing currently needing restart)

$ LIBC=$(realpath /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6)
$ sudo cp "$LIBC" "${LIBC}.new"
$ sudo mv -f "${LIBC}.new" "$LIBC"

$ sudo needrestart -q -r l

(check for things that need restart)
