[Bug 1244285] Re: Date/time sometimes doesn’t appear in menu bar, settings greyed out

2021-08-07 Thread Paul White
Further to comments #40 and #41 I'm closing this as being fixed. The
last report of someone seeing this issue was over 5 years ago in a
desktop environment that is no longer Ubuntu's default.

If anyone does still see an issue then a new bug report should be opened
so that debug information specific to the reporting user gets added to
the bug report.

Further to comment #3, belatedly closing this issue as reporter says
"the problem want away and I was able to finish." Nothing to investigate
so not now really a valid bug report.

At least on 20.04, the profile comes from the firefox package, not the
apparmor one:

$ dpkg -S /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox
firefox: /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox

Maybe I'm missing something?

Ubuntu 18.10 (cosmic) reached end-of-life on July 18, 2019.

I'm setting this bug to "Incomplete" as it's not seen any activity for
some time. If this is still an issue when using a currently maintained
release of Ubuntu then please let us know otherwise this bug report can
be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.

[Bug 1939201] [NEW] missing header files in /usr/include/libzfs

2021-08-07 Thread Andrey Obruchkov
Public bug reported:

I'm using ubuntu focal 20.04.
the problem is with zfs header sources in ubuntu in /usr/include/libzfs/.

in zfs source code there is a header file:
"zfs/lib/libzfs/libzfs_impl.h" and there are includes to other .h files:

#include
#include
#include
#include  -> * problematic include
#include

#include
#include
#include
#include

link:
https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/blob/master/lib/libzfs/libzfs_impl.h

seems like all the headers exist in ubuntu focal in /usr/include/libzfs/ but
the .h file that don't exist in ubuntu focal is
/usr/include/libzfs/sys/zfs_ioctl.h
This bug prevents me from generating code with header files with its
dependencies because its dependencies not exist.

[Bug 1873719] Re: Relatar

2021-08-07 Thread Paul White
Google translates reply as:

Good Morning!
My problem when updating my notebook with Linux version 16.04, with a lot of
regret that I did it, I can't handle with the old times, the shortcuts are all
different, the mouse command is just bad to work, it just happens that it gives
command when it stops on I did another update to 19.04 yesterday, but it's
still bad. What can be done to improve it? I've tried everything.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You obviously experienced a desktop
environment change when upgrading from Unity to GNOME Shell. There's not
much that can be done about the changes that were forced upon you but
hopefully you have now become used to the new look of Ubuntu.

Sometimes it is better to raise problems you are having in the support
tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if
they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in the support
forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking
at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org.

I'm closing this as "Invalid" but please feel free to report any
specific issues you may have about the current Ubuntu desktop
environment against the appropriate Ubuntu packages.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this issue some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported now that
Ubuntu 20.04 is no longer in its development phase?

Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire

Thanks for the reply srdjan.

As this bug report and all of its duplicates refer to Ubuntu 16.04,
which is no longer supported, I'll close this as "Invalid". It may well
have been fixed in that release but it's not worth the trouble to
ascertain whether it was or not.

FWIW I'm using it with sanoid/syncoid

syncoid has a --no-resume option that might work (but have yet to try).

[Bug 1931698] Re: Can't uninstall firefox.

2021-08-07 Thread Paul White
>Is it possible to add to this list a package that isn't in the Ubuntu
repositories e.g. Brave Browser?

No. The Ubuntu project will never support or depend on third party
packages. If you want to use Ubuntu in a way that is supported and
install updates and upgrades without issues then you will have abide by
the default dependencies that have been set. Most users will have many
packages/applications installed by default that they never use.

The screen dump that you provided in the bug description shows that the
cinnamon-desktop-environment meta-package will be uninstalled by
removing firefox, not the entire Cinnamon desktop. By all means remove
firefox and that metapackage but you won't be in a position to report
bugs and issues if a future update or upgrade relating to the Cinnamon
desktop doesn't work as expected.

Best to do nothing. Just install and use your web-browser of choice.

You're not reporting a bug so I'm closing this as "Invalid".

[Bug 1939177] Re: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS kernel 5.11.0-25 zfs send | receive broken

2021-08-07 Thread TimK.
Yeah good point, not sure whether the userspace tools version needs to
match the kmod version.

[Bug 1939177] Re: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS kernel 5.11.0-25 zfs send | receive broken

2021-08-07 Thread TimK.
I asked in the zfs github issue and the answer is that the versions must
match. It might be an incompatibility between zfs-0.8.3-1ubuntu12.12 and
zfs-kmod-2.0.2-1ubuntu5 though not sure how easy it is to deal with this
when using HWE.

[Bug 1939210] [NEW] When using HWE, zfs-kmod and zfs user tools versions must match

2021-08-07 Thread TimK.
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS

I ran into a problem recently
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/1939177) due
to mismatched versions when HWE upgraded the kernel from 5.8 to 5.11
where the userspace tools don't match the zfs-kmod version. After the
update the system ended up with zfs-0.8.3-1ubuntu12.12 and zfs-
kmod-2.0.2-1ubuntu5

My understanding from asking in the OpenZFS github is that the two
versions must match.

This bug is to figure out what to do for those of us who use HWE and
zfs.

2021-08-07 Thread Julian Andres Klode
There are three possible causes

- firmware bug
- kernel bug
- user error (read-only variables), though why does that give I/O rather than
ENOSPACE

I'm going to reassign this one to linux for a check on the kernel side,
but I suspect it's a firmware issue.

[Bug 1937321] Re: System freeze (amdgpu kernel crash on resume from suspend)

That failed when I rebooted:

Error:/boot/vmlunz-5.13.7-051307-generic has invalid signature

Pressing a key takes me back to the Grub screen and I can select 5.11.0-25 to
reboot the system

I don't think I did anything wrong, but I received the following errors
when I installed them:

[Bug 1937321] Re: System freeze (amdgpu kernel crash on resume from suspend)

2021-08-07 Thread sheepscrossing
I compiled the new images that you sent. Linux 5.10.56- and received
the same error about Libc6 being downlevel, but when I rebooted that kernel it
booted with what appeared to be the same errors as 5.13.7.
Boot.log shows:
[FAILED] Failed to start Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness of
backlight:acpi_video0.
See 'systemctl status systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service' for
details.

I didn't see any other errors. Where should I be looking for the startup
messages that I'm seeing?

[Bug 1620085] Re: --exclude-if-present gives OSError looking for tag in locked folders

2021-08-07 Thread Jesse Hines
It seems this bug has resurfaced? I'm running duplicity 0.8.19 on Ubuntu
20.04.

If I have the file tree:

test
  - root
- ...
  - other stuff

And run
duplicity --exclude **/root --exclude-if-present .nobakup test
file:///.../backup

duplicity prints a non-fatal error:
Error accessing possibly locked file test/root

No error occurs if I don't include --exclude-if-present

[Bug 1939211] [NEW] Screen flickering after upgrading from 5.8 kernel to 5.11 kernel

2021-08-07 Thread Ben Bromley
Public bug reported:

Hello!

After the upgrade to the 5.8 series kernel to the 5.11 series kernel, I
have noticed some screen flickering. I had the same problem previously
on Fedora after upgrading to the 5.0 series kernel, but this was not
present on Ubuntu 20.04 on either the 5.4 or 5.8 series kernels. On
Fedora, it was fixed by turning off panel self-refresh on my Dell XPS 13
9380. I can try that again here if you all think it would be a useful
piece of information. In the Fedora bug, it was reported that this
problem is fixed in the 5.13 kernel. Let me know whatever else I can do.

Thanks!
Ben
