This same risk is present for report processes initiated + on the non-system-crash report code path. + * Wayland is still affected even with this fix, for different reasons + (LP: #1947929) + + [Other Info] + Q: Systemd says KillMode=process is not recommended + https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.kill.html + + In this case, killing the other processes in the control-group is part + of the problem. + + The system crash dialog is a relatively simple bit of code that shows + a dialog, then runs a report process. This dialog process is spawned + as part of a chain of processes downstream from + update-notifier-crash.service. + + This dialog runs the report process using g_spawn_async(). After + spawning the report process, there isn't any particular reason to keep + the dialog process around, so it exits. This exit is triggering the + KillMode behavior, and because the report process is in the control + group, the report process is killed. + + Another possibility for addressing the process management is to run + the report process synchronously - keep the dialog process around + until the report is done and just make the dialog not visible. This + is not a workable answer in this case because with the current gtk + code usage, the dialog sticks around - even after the call to + gtk_widget_destroy()! This appears to be due to usage of + gtk_dialog_run(). Long term I recommend we modernize this code. + My initial fix for this LP was in that direction. + https://git.launchpad.net/~dbungert/update-notifier/commit/?id=06058d5705ed7cd636206c1ee72c376ec903fe74 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1821412 Title: "System program problem" report button does nothing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/1821412/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1946005] Re: php8.0: Fail to build against OpenSSL 3.0
Hi Simon, The autopkgtest workers seem to be super bogged down with jobs, and unfortunately as a result autopkgtest still hasn't finished processing php8.1, and I'm guessing may be another week or more before it will. Meanwhile, I've gotten the bulk of the php ecosystem rebuilds uploaded. There are some scattered build failures needing investigated but those look reasonably straightforward. The autopkgtest failures have typically been the more "interesting" problems but test results still await. Given this, I've gone ahead and uploaded the openssl 3.0 patch you identified for php8.0. It probably won't matter, but can't hurt. I think, though, that just having php8.1 in -proposed is going to be enough to avoid blockage during your transition. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946005 Title: php8.0: Fail to build against OpenSSL 3.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php8.0/+bug/1946005/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1904337] Re: Desktop crash on decorations computation
System: Ubuntu 20.04 focal Package: Unity 7.5.1+20.04.20211026.1-0ubuntu1 Today I was working in Android Studio. I made a long session (~4 hours) without any crashes. Usually Android Studio randomly crashes my DE every 15 minutes. I didn't see any new additional graphical bugs. Sometime i saw undercoated Ubuntu error windows "Unable to mount . [Bug 1940136] Re: HyperV images do not include package manifests
I've attempted to build hyperv-desktop from currently livecd-rootfs for Hirsute, and i run into the same issue: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libgl1-mesa-dri : Depends: libllvm12 (>= 1:9~svn298832-1~) but it is not installable libxatracker2 : Depends: libllvm12 (>= 1:9~svn298832-1~) but it is not installable mesa-vulkan-drivers : Depends: libllvm12 (>= 1:9~svn298832-1~) but it is not installable The issue is not created via a change in livecd-rootfs (which I had presumed, but wanted to double check). I'm also generally confused as installing mesa-vulcan-drivers, libxatracker2, or libgl1-mesa-dri into a hirsute lxd container or VM does not result in this error. I can dig further into packaging, but it seems to be isolated to installing in this environment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1940136 Title: HyperV images do not include package manifests To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/1940136/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1948995] Re: Allow reverting to older revisions of a snap
You can set the number of revisions to keep with `snap set system refresh.retain=`. The choice for Server is probably unfortunately a victim of inheriting the default choice for Ubuntu Desktop, which is 2. We originally had 3 for Desktop too (which is also still the default on Ubuntu Core), but that was deemed to be too storage intensive for most users so for "non-Ubuntu Core" we changed it to 2 instead, and it seems that Server has gotten bundled into the definition of "non-Ubuntu Core". I think there's a strong case to be made for having a different default on Server vs Desktop, so if you want to open a new bug about changing that (or we could re-use this one I suppose), I think that's a reasonable thing to request be changed. ** Changed in: snapd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1948995 Title: Allow reverting to older revisions of a snap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1948995/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1949029] Re: SSD disappears on Reboot but on cold boot is detected
** Description changed: I have a dual boot system (Windows 10 and Ubuntu 21) Lenovo Z50-70 I upgraded my storage to Samsung 870 QVO 1TB. When I reboot the machine via Windows, the machine reboots normally and SSD is detected. However, when I reboot the machine via Ubuntu, the machine will reboot but it won't detect my SSD. I have upgraded to the latest Ubuntu distro and have the latest kernels, etc... I have validated that my installation and boot partitions are correct. Other people who faced an issue similar to mine were using SSDs with - NVME. However, my SSD is using NAND, not NVME so neither applying the + NVME. However, my SSD is SATA based, not NVME so neither applying the fix I found about setting nvme latency nor upgrading distro have solved the problem. On Windows, I had initially the same problem but on Windows after selecting AHCI Standard SATA mode, the issue was solved. On Ubuntu, I'm already in AHCI mode but the problem persists. I did few times grub boot repair to validate if it was something messed up with my boot configurations but turned out that it's not. I'm able to use Ubuntu 21 at the moment. However, I'm unable to perform a reboot. Every time I have to shut down the machine and then manually push the laptop's button to launch it again because if I accidentally hit reboot via Ubuntu, the machine will not find SSD and on next boot, the BIOS falls back into Windows Boot Manager and I have to run grub boot repair all over again via live USB. I hope that you will find a solution for this problem soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1949029 Title: SSD disappears on Reboot but on cold boot is detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1949029/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1949105] Re: executable text activation does not work
Thank you for your bug report, could you explain what you mean by 'executable text activation'? Describing steps to trigger the issue and the error in details would help to understand what you describe ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1949105 Title: executable text activation does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1949105/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
