[Bug 897101]

2021-11-13 Thread Qa-admin-q
Dear Christopher M. Penalver,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open,
confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked
on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has
been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really
appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still
present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of
LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Bug 1950879] [NEW] Lightdm Desktop Selection Can't Scroll to End of List

[Bug 1950875] Re: installer crashed. VM installation on a debian server.

2021-11-13 Thread Doug Smythies
This bug might be duplicate with bug #1950132, not sure. In this case it
was AMD64 desktop iso:

jammy-desktop-amd64-2021-11-13.iso, 3122440192 bytes, Nov 13 00:37

I have installed Ubuntu Desktop VMs on this Debian host server before,
but not recently.

[Bug 1874272] Re: Stage "searching for obsolete software" takes a very long time (30 minutes)

2021-11-13 Thread Ionut Andrei Oanca
Facing this as well. Upgrade from 20.04 to 21.04 went OK (minor issue
with `openmpi-bin`). Currently upgrading from 21.04 to 21.10 and have
been waiting on "Searching for obsolete software" for almost an hour now
(still at 64%).

i5-3570K, 24GB of RAM, one core always at 100% usage. `/var/log/dist-
upgrade/apt.log` shows lots of `pkgProblemResolver` going on.

[Bug 1856584] Re: Graceful Shutdown [wishlist]

2021-11-13 Thread Paul White
Thank you for your suggestion.

However, the changes you are requesting aren't really a bug and require
more discussion, which should be done on an appropriate mailing list or
forum. http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/mailinglists might be a
good start for determining which mailing list to use.

https://discourse.ubuntu.com/ is a fairly recent addition which enables
users to directly talk to Ubuntu developers who can consider the changes
that you are suggesting.

[Bug 1547240] Re: Mousepad doesn't reactive with touchpad-indicator

2021-11-13 Thread Paul White
Michael, you raised this bug report against 'dash' which is a shell
similar to bash. I'm assuming this was in error as you were actually
referring to the Dash in Unity desktop which is no longer featured in
any currently supported release of Ubuntu.

Should any similar issues arise in currently supported versions of
Ubuntu they should probably reported initially against the gnome-shell
package as they can always be reassigned from there.

[Bug 1949618] Re: system locks up when selection one of top 2 items in dash

2021-11-13 Thread Paul White
Robert, you raised this issue agaist "dash" which is a shell similar to
bash, zsh etc. 'Dash' was a term used when the default Ubuntu desktop
was Unity which has of course now been superceded by GNOME Shell.

Please advise on which "top two icons" you are referring to. Icons in
the top bar (which might vary depnding on the hardware being used) or
icons which are displayed when clicking on the nine dots in the botton
left hand corner of the screen (Show Applications).

I'm moving this bug report to the gnome-shell package.

[Bug 1736374] Re: cannot click desktop icons when 'delete confirmation dialog' was covered by starting application

2021-11-13 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-life on April 29, 2021.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when
using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you
do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days
time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1950077] Re: full screen google chrome goes behind the panel

2021-11-13 Thread Paul White
Ivan, sorry but I'm unable to view the screenshot that you have
attached.

Unfortunately, the Ubuntu project is unable to support bug reports
relating to Google Chrome as it is not been downloaded and installed
from the official Ubuntu repositories. Does this happen with any other
application such as Chromium (the Ubuntu equivalent of Google Chrome)?

[Bug 1950859] Re: Ubuntu installation failure - Vaio Nvidia and RAID connected to the problem

2021-11-13 Thread Steve Langasek
What is "Lubuntu 15"? This is not a version number used by Ubuntu or any
of its flavors.

What is an "Nvidia pilot"? Do you mean an Nvidia driver? The Nvidia
drivers supported on Ubuntu are the packages which are provided through
the Ubuntu repository.

What exactly do you see when the Ubuntu 20.04 installer crashes? The
installer logs attached to your bug report don't appear to show any
crashes.

are very popular in these days and not all people keep eog viewer

also we should patch org.gnome.eog.desktop file to add "image/heif;" to

[Bug 1650688] Re: timedatectl set-timezone fails on UC16

2021-11-13 Thread Ratchanan Srirattanamet
Now that Jammy series is opened, I've opened another merge proposal on
Jammy branch with the same patch as in Focal's. Please take another
look; this patch is important for us at UBports, and having the patches
in Jammy would be nice because there will be Ubuntu Core 22.

The Impish-related section has been removed from the description. Should
I also delete the merge proposal for Impish branch?

[Bug 1912935] Re: battery drain while notebook off / shutdown

2021-11-13 Thread Hemanth V. Alluri
I've collected some more data and it seems to suggest that maybe
suspend/sleep has something to do with this?

=

Test 1:
  1. Boot (and wait a few seconds after signing in).
  2. Suspend/Sleep (using the "sleep" button from Manjaro/KDE's GUI).
  3. Wait 20 seconds.
  4. Wake from sleep.
  5. Wait 20 seconds again.
  6. Poweroff (and not the time and percentage just before doing so).
  7. Wait a few more seconds before closing the lid.

Result:
  12% drain (100% -> 88%) in exactly 2 hours powered off.
  Note: All of the data points from my previous comment were done with
Sleep/Suspend being one of the steps of my test workflow. In this new version
of the test, I test for a shorter period of time and have not opened any
applications during the test workflow.

=

Test 2:
  1. Boot (and wait a few seconds after signing in).
  2. Open some applications and use them a bit (Firefox, VS Code, Yakuake, FZF)
- about 1 or 2 minutes.
  3. Close all applications.
  4. Poweroff (and not the time and percentage just before doing so).
This time I forgot to wait a few seconds after powering off before closing the
lid (but I *did* at least wait till all the lights turned off)

Results:
  2% drain (88% -> 86%) in exactly 6 hours powered off.
  1% drain (32% -> 31%) in exactly 9 hours powered off.

Results when I don't open any applications:
  1% drain (44% -> 43%) in exactly 2 hours powered off (run 1).
  So it seems like opening applications doesn't have anything to do with this
(as expected).

=

Test 3:
(no formally described steps this time)

Results when I force powered off from my bootloader menu (currently, that's
rEFInd):
  1% drain (47% -> 46%) in exactly 2 hours powered off.

Results when I shutdown from my BIOS/UEFI menu (interrupt the boot process and
go straight to the UEFI menu):
  0% drain (100% -> 100%) in exactly 6 hours and 20 minutes powered off.

=

Conclusion:

I'm pretty sure that there's no BIOS v/s Bootloader issue here and that
the difference in the rate of battery drain is negligible. I'm also
pretty sure that as long as I don't let my laptop sleep/suspend on
Manjaro (running Linux 5.10 or Linux 5.13) it's fine.

Could this help in identifying the source of the bug?

Could someone else please conduct similar experiments so that we can
cross-validate the results? Perhaps someone on Ubuntu or some other
operating system that's *not* Manjaro (just so that we can rule out the
operating system as a variable in this)

Once again, please let me know if I can help by collecting more
data/logs/etc.

[Bug 1949565] Re: Cannot connect anymore to Azure Database for MySQL with 8.0.27-0ubuntu0.20.04

2021-11-13 Thread Olivier Le Pogam
Hi Utkarsh !

Quite simple, but unfortunately an Azure Environment is required to reproduce
it ...
- A simple VM with Ubuntu 20.04
- An instance of Azure Database for MySQL (which is actually a PaaS MySQL) :
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/mysql/server/

Latest mysql-8.0 libraries

Then simply try to connect with "mysql" command line to the Azure
Database for MySQL => you'll be stuck.

If you don't have such en environment, I can open a free trial one,
create a VM & an Azure Database for MySQL Service, and we can work on it
together.

Best regards

[Bug 1950864] [NEW] snap--.mount systemd units left behind

2021-11-13 Thread James Blachly
Public bug reported:

`snap` evidently automatically updates snaps, but in the process of
doing so, leaves old `snap--.mount` systemd units
left behind in memory. Because the unit definitions are no longer on
disk in /etc/systemd/, this leads `systemctl` to report that the system
is degraded.

Contents of `/etc/systemd/system`:

```
[Bug 1950071] Re: failed to create shim: OCI runtime create failed
2021-11-13 Thread Steffen Köhler
I get the exact same error with docker.io (20.10.7-0ubuntu5~18.04.3) on
Ubuntu 18.04.06 running on ESXI.
But! I don´t use the nvidia runtime. It is not installed anyway. My
runtime is runc.
When I use docker.io (20.10.7-0ubuntu1~18.04.2) everything works fine,
and I can start any container without having error response "docker:
Error response from daemon: failed to create shim: OCI runtime create
failed: container_linux.go:348: starting container process caused "error
adding seccomp filter rule for syscall clone3: permission denied":
unknown."
For finding a solution I completly changed from docker.io to the latest
docker-ce. But nothing changed. Same error. So I went back to docker.io
(20.10.7-0ubuntu1~18.04.2) to keep my containers running.
[Bug 1950859] [NEW] Ubuntu installation failure - Vaio Nvidia and RAID connected to the problem
2021-11-13 Thread Gui Badoux
Public bug reported:
At first, impossible to install Lubuntu 15 on a Sony Vaio PCG-3M.
By suppressing the RAID0 of 4 SSD 64Gb, I could install on the disk0. But still
very unstable system.
Then by acting on the TPM in the BIOS, a first installation was done. The TPM
actions where first a CLEAR, then a ENABLED.
In the internet comments, some people were speaking about the Nvidia processor.
So I installed the Nvidia pilot (a Nvidia native pilot, but approved by Ubuntu)
and finally, a first installation of Lubuntu 15 was done.
But It's impossible to install something better, like Ubuntu 20 for example.
The installation keeps crashing at the end.
For unknown raisons, the wifi pilot was lost, and impossible to restore it.
[Bug 1950860] [NEW] redshift littering log with dbus messages
2021-11-13 Thread Jeff Abrahamson
Public bug reported:
redshift (or dbus on its behalf) is littering kern.log with messages
like this:
kernel: [281626.445137] audit: type=1107 audit(1636814004.065:1348664):
[Bug 1950858] [NEW] GNU date won't parse it's own output
2021-11-13 Thread dronus
Public bug reported:
On Ubuntu 18.04, using german locale, GNU date (v 8.28) doesn't accept
it's own output format using date -d. This is awkward, as date -d is
meant to parse all "natural" formats, and of course the output of date
will often be stored and need to be read again.
What have I done?
Run the test case
date -d "`date`"
on up-to-date Ubuntu 18.04 with de_DE.UTF-8 locale.
What happens?
date complains that the input has invalid date format.
What I expect to happen?
GNU 'date -d' should be able to read the date text created by 'date' without
further options.
[Bug 1950857] [NEW] Missing Qt5 SCXML private dev files
2021-11-13 Thread enygmata
Public bug reported:
Neither Ubuntu 20.04 nor Ubuntu 20.10 ship Qt SCXML's private
development files such as "qscxmlstatemachine_p.h". These files are
present in  20.04's qtscxml-everywhere-src_5.12.8.orig.tar.xz and
20.10's qtscxml-everywhere-src_5.14.2.orig.tar.xz but are not being
packaged.
This problem is not present in the Ubuntu 21.XX series due to the
inclusion of the libqt5scxml5-private-dev package.
This problem is not present in CentOS 8 which also ships Qt 5.12
modules.
[Bug 1857385] Re: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead via USB-C docking station
2021-11-13 Thread Walex B
This is happening to me on a ThinkPad E495 with AMD chipset and no
The workaround described in comment #22 above, to unbind and then bind the
kernel version, but not sure when i started to happen.
[Bug 1948355] Re: Firefox settings font size dropdown flashes, hard to select
2021-11-13 Thread Janne Moren
Issue solved. It's caused by the "10ten" Japanese translation addition,
when the "highlight matched text" setting is enabled.
Now, why that causes this issue I don't know, but I will report it to
the developer so they are aware of it.
Olivier, thanks for taking the time to look at this!
I tried with the upstream build and it works fine. It was 94.0.1. My
and I have noe clue how to debug this, since I have no idea – and, even worse,
not found any documentation or specification about snapd's security model and
[Bug 1950853] [NEW] 32 bit: mdadm gives error "blockdev: IOCTL-Fehler bei BLKGETSIZE: Die Datei ist zu groß" for each disk and does not assemble raid
2021-11-13 Thread Michael Soegtrop
Public bug reported:
I first asked this as question on Ask Ubuntu here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1372726/mdadm-raid-wont-assemble-after-
update-from-16-04-lts-32-bit-to-18-04-lts
Essentially I upgraded a RAID server from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS to Ubuntu
18.04 LTS (both 32 bit). After that the RAID won't assemble any more and
mdadm does not seem to detect any disks - see the above Ask Ubuntu
question for logs and other details.
I then installed Ubuntu 20.04 64 bit on the same machine, and everything
wokred fine. Since 16.04 32 bit and 20.04 64 bit work in the same
configuration on the same machine and 18.04 LTS 32 bit doesn't, one can
assume that 18.04 LTS 32 bit has an issue.
Interestingly, when I reinstall mdadm via apt-get, I get the following
error once for each RAID disk:
"blockdev: IOCTL-Fehler bei BLKGETSIZE: Die Datei ist zu groß"
which is German for : "blockdev: IOCTL-Error at BLKGETSIZE: The file it
too large"
I guess some variable which should be 64 bit in 32 bit Ubuntu is 32 bit.
Is it possible that mdadm is generally broken on 32 bit Ubuntu 18.04
LTS?
[Bug 1950850] [NEW] Systemd-resolved gets confused and replies to SOA queries for local breaking mDNS resolution
2021-11-13 Thread Sergio Callegari
Public bug reported:
As discussed on https://gitlab.nic.cz/knot/knot-resolver/-/issues/686,
DNS servers are expected to immediately answer any queries within local
by NXDOMAIN. See
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc6762#section-22.1 in this
respect. However, while they do so they seem to be  also expected to
deliver an AUTHORITY section with a SOA. As a matter of fact, I am being
told the relevant RFCs do not explicitly mention that SOA should be
there, but that NXDOMAIN without a SOA is generally considered
incorrect, e.g. it necessarily causes caching issues due to missing TTL.
The problem is that such SOA confuses systemd-resolved (at least the
version distributed with Ubuntu Focal) that ends up converting the
NXDOMAIN reply into a positive reply with such a SOA.
The final consequence is that local name resolution via mDNS is broken
with the default ubuntu focal setup.
A detailed discussion of the matter and of the scenario triggering the issue
follows.
Suppose that on your network you have a DNS server following the .local
blocking indicated in
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc6762#section-22.1 (bullet 4). An
example of a modern DNS that has already implemented this feature is knot
resolver and the feature is also present in some routers notably the Turris
Omnia series. Such a DNS server would reply to queries to local in this way:
  $ dig local
;; WARNING: .local is reserved for Multicast DNS
;; You are currently testing what happens when an mDNS query is leaked to DNS
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NXDOMAIN, id: 56352
;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 1, ADDITIONAL: 1
;; QUESTION SECTION:
;local. IN  A
;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
local.  10800   IN  SOA local. nobody.invalid. 1
3600 1200 604800 10800
;; ADDITIONAL SECTION:
explanation.invalid.10800   IN  TXT “Blocking is mandated by
standards, see references on https://www.iana.org/assignments/special-
use-domain-names/special-use-domain-names.xhtml”
Now let's see what happens to Ubuntu Focal hosts when such a DNS server
is deployed in the network and you try to reach a local host:
1.  You do something like ping foo.local or ssh foo.local
2.  Ubuntu focal has by default the host field in nsswitch.conf set to:
hosts:  files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns so it
tries the /etc/hosts/ file and then mdns via the nss mdns4_minimal
client
3.  The mdns4_minimal client before doing anything else tries unicast DNS
looking for a SOA for
local. This mechanism is present in the mdns4_minimal client to avoid
issues when local is
under DNS control and is documented at
https://github.com/lathiat/nss-mdns/blob/master/README.md
4.  Ubuntu focal uses by default systemd-resolved as a caching DNS, so the
query from
mdns4_minimal gets to systemd-resolved
5. systemd-resolved passes the query to the DNS it is configured to use. If
this is a modern DNS
   server blocking local it gets NXDOMAIN together withthat special SOA in the
authority section
   and because it is buggy, it turns it into a regular SOA reply (no NXDOMAIN)
6. mdns4_minimal receives a SOA reply for local and gives up thinking that in
the particular
   environment local is under unicast DNS control
7. At this point, according to the nsswitch configuration, DNS is tried. So we
are back to
   systemd-resolved now trying to get the A field for foo.local.
8. By default systemd-resolved on ubuntu is configured not to do mDNS itself
(even if it has
   this capability). Hence the query fails.
9. Rather than reaching foo.local you get an error.
This is a nasty but, although it is possibly not frequently hit yet because the
number of DNS servers that have already implemented local blocking is probably
modest. You can only expect it to be on the rise, though.
It may be the case that more recent versions of systemd than the one shipped in
Ubuntu Focal have already corrected the issue. Preliminary tests on arch seem
to support this hypothesis. If this is the case, it may be possible to backport
the fix.
In any case, I think that an update to the Ubuntu Focal systemd package should
be provided, because Focal deployments are expected to exist for many years
ahead.
Just a quick note for others. I had to fully turn off my laptop before
booting to 5.13.0-20 for things to work. From something said in the
upstream bug, sounds like the hardware may get into a weird state from
booting 5.13.0-21 that can't be remedied by a warm reboot.
