[Bug 1950520] Re: systemd-resolved delivers SOA information when it should not
Thanks, I'll try that and try to report. I have already asked on various forums if there is any way to replace /only/ the stub resolver (systemd- resolved) with a more recent version without replacing all the code related to init and the system initialization and been told there is no safe way, hence I understand the fact that ubuntu has a single package for the whole of systemd. Unfortunately, that means that even if https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu- support-team/+archive/ubuntu/systemd fixes the issue in a vm it will probably be impossible to practically deploy daily updated init, etc on a machine that must be reliably on daily use. On the other side, I have found that it is relatively easy to workaround the issue in systemd-resolved by making the local DNS server slightly deviate from standards so that it responds SERVERFAIL instead of NXDOMAIN for queries in .local. As a final note, as mentioned above, I have moved this discussion by closing this issue and opening a new one, where the problem in systemd- resolved is properly identified. [Bug 1951667] Re: [SRU] pulseaudio: restore hdmi audio be active output after resume
This is the debdiff for jammy thx. ** Description changed: - this bug is for tracking purpose. + [Impact] + On the machines with legacy HDA audio driver, when users plug a hdmi/dp monitor, the active output device is still speaker, need users to manually select the hdmi, then the hdmi audio will be the users' preference, once it is plugged, it should become the active output automatically. But with the current PA, after reboot and suspend/resume, the hdmi can't change to be active output automatically anymore. + + [Fix] + Backport an upstream fix, this will fix the issue of "preferred ports being cleaned by a mistake" + + [Test] + On a machine with legacy HDA audio driver, install the patched pulseaudio, then run 'rm ~/.config/pulse/*; reboot', plug a hdmi monitor, select the hdmi audio to be active, with the hdmi monitor plugged and reboot, suspend and resume, check what is the active output, it is still the hdmi audio. + + [Where problems could occur] + This patch is in the card-restore.c, if it could introduce regression, it will be on the default active input/output devices, for example, users select a input or output device to be active, after reboot, if those devices are available, they should be active, but they could be replaced by other devices if a regression is introduced. But this possibility is very low since we tested the patch on a couple of desktop and laptop machines. ** Patch added: "pulseaudio_15.0+dfsg1-1ubuntu4.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1951667/+attachment/5542196/+files/pulseaudio_15.0+dfsg1-1ubuntu4.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951667 Title: [SRU] pulseaudio: restore hdmi audio be active output after resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1951667/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1942616] Re: Settings Power says high hardware temperature
I confirm the problem on Impish (21.10), and didn't have it on 21.04. While I have indeed Turbo Boost turned off, it shouldn't behave like that for two reasons : - The message is false, there is no temperature problem. - On CPUs with hardware-driven P-states (HWP) on, the performance mode of the control panel sets the Energy Performance Preference (EPP) of the CPU to high performance. While maybe not very useful, it's still possible technically to have Turbo Boost off and EPP set to high performance, and I don't see why it shouldn't be possible through Gnome. I suspect Gnome checks the "no turbo" flag as a thermal trip indicator, which it is not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1942616 Title: Settings Power says high hardware temperature To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/power-profiles-daemon/+bug/1942616/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1951661] [NEW] Battery Optimization section missing
Public bug reported: The Battery Optimization section has gone missing ever since i changed the settings. This morning i see only two sections, "Battery Levels" and "Other Settings", under [System Settings -> Power Management -> Advanced Power Settings], having just tried two recent jammy kubuntu live ISOs, 3666923520 2021-11-19 Fri 15:13:58 kubuntu/jammy-desktop-amd64.iso and 3667288064 2021-11-13 Sat 14:10:03 kubuntu/jammy-desktop-amd64.iso. On a recent morning i had found a third section in [Advanced Power Settings] called Battery Optimization or something quite like that, and if memory serves me correctly i set it to begin charging at 40% and stop charging at 60%. But ever since, i only see the two sections in [Advanced Power Settings]. it makes sense that the panel icon is saying "Battery at 57%, not Charging" because that fits what i asked for, and not discharging either because as htop says it's "Running on A/C". i just unplugged the lappy momentarily and htop tracked it as it steadily dropped from "57.1%" to "56.6% (Running on battery)", so apart from the missing Battery Optimization settings it all seems sensible. i was a bit surprised to see it remembering the settings from a prior live session, but it makes sense if the settings were set in the firmware. in addition to what's currently (nearly) implemented in jammy kubuntu i'm curious about optimizing battery lifetimes in general, and specifically for my specific devices (see sig). Pointers to reasonably reliable specific information would be appreciated. Like, what's best overall, a full charge occasionally, a full discharge occasionally, both, neither, or more specifically what? greg (ThinkPad e540, Pixel 3 XL (android 12), Arctis 7, Sennheiser GSP 670, Bose SoundLink iii, Kindle Fire HD 3rd Gen 2013 with Evervolv rom) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: systemsettings 4:5.23.3-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.13.0-19.19-generic 5.13.14 Uname: Linux 5.13.0-19-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu73 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CasperVersion: 1.465 Date: Fri Nov 19 17:25:02 2021 LiveMediaBuild: Kubuntu 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Alpha amd64 (2029) SourcePackage: systemsettings UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: systemsettings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951661 Title: Battery Optimization section missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemsettings/+bug/1951661/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1951399] Re: Ubuntu, Budgie, Kubuntu, Kylin, MATE, Xubuntu: jammy daily fails to install
Norbert, I'm not JUST with Ubuntu Studio (which may go back to Ubiquity, btw), but I'm also with the Kubuntu team, a member of the Community Council, and, in this context, a member of the Bug Squad which is here to triage bugs. When triaging bugs, if we find a particular bug report is not helpful (or described very well), then you get a standard response like I gave you. When you say "see logs" and then upload an identical bug report later with a crash, that shows a pattern that you're not willing to help by describing where you were in the process when the installation crash. Additionally, you were filing *multiple* bugs with the same description which rightfully were marked as duplicates. Please, do not take those personally. I was trying to be friendly by injecting into the standard response that saying "see logs" doesn't help. The standard response and my "'see logs' doesn't help" comment were multiple hints as to what are needed by the Ubuntu Foundations Team (the developers of Ubiquity) in order to solve the problem. Describing what happened when the crash occurred helps them know *where* to look in the logs for the problem. Basically, I gave you information on how to help them help you, but instead you drag me over the coals in your comment about me being "not friendly". I don't work for Canonical, I'm not part of the Ubuntu Foundations Team. I'm just as much of a volunteer as you. The only reason I'm commenting here publicly is that with that public comment about me, I felt the need to defend myself. In the future, if you have a problem with me, email me directly or find me in IRC so we can have a private conversation about it and thereby abide by the Code of Conduct. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951399 Title: Ubuntu, Budgie, Kubuntu, Kylin, MATE, Xubuntu: jammy daily fails to install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1951399/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It's important to say that I'm not using ZFS here, but from your description I got the impression that you aren't either; am I correct in assuming this? Could you please provide a reproducer for this bug? Also, it would be nice if you could confirm whether this still happens on Impish/Jammy. [Bug 1951653] [NEW] can't use NM for ethernet device on 20.04 LTS because it is 'strictly unmanaged'
Public bug reported: I have tried to tell netplan to let my ethernet device be managed by NetworkManager, so that I can then configure a pppoe connection on top of this device. This fails with: # nmcli c up netplan-wan Error: Connection activation failed: No suitable device found for this connection (device lo not available because device is strictly unmanaged). # I don't know why it mentions 'lo' in that message, but the wan interface is unmanaged (as are all devices on the system, but this one is supposed to be managed): # nmcli d status | grep wan wan ethernet unmanaged -- # After much searching, I've figured out that this comes from /usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf: keyfile] unmanaged-devices=*,except:type:wifi,except:type:gsm,except:type:cdma Even though I've told netplan to use the NM renderer for this device, the configuration emitted by netplan is insufficient to override this. Using the workaround from https://askubuntu.com/questions/71159/network- manager-says-device-not-managed (sudo touch /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf) doesn't work, but if I set NetworkManager as the toplevel renderer in /etc/netplan, /run/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed- devices.conf is emitted, which evidently DOES work. But I only have one device that I want rendered by NM, so I shouldn't have to declare NM at the top level of the yaml with a lot of duplication in order to get this result. I would argue that the 10-globally-managed-devices.conf should not be there at all. But if it is going to be, then netplan needs to consistently override it whenever there is any use of the NetworkManager backend. ** Affects: netplan.io (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Also affects: netplan.io (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: netplan.io (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951653 Title: can't use NM for ethernet device on 20.04 LTS because it is 'strictly unmanaged' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netplan.io/+bug/1951653/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1945967] Re: rtw89 kernel module for Realtek 8852 wifi is missing
For what it is worth, at some point, using https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw89 branch's v7 was making my laptop crashing, only symptom was me going away and coming back the laptop is rebooted. It was happening after ~24-48h of uptime, regularly enough for it to be painful. I think my latest build was with https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw89/commit/a3f3f39908872fe9edc887d857836d9cb4cb598c and this was much rather stable. @kaihengfeng Can we hope you cherry pick all the new fixes coming on v7 branch? Without stability, I'll have to blacklist the kernel-bundled driver and go back to the dkms one self-built :/ Thanks! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1945967 Title: rtw89 kernel module for Realtek 8852 wifi is missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1945967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
