[Bug 1594023] Re: Poweroff or reboot hangs. Laptop won't shutdown. 16.04
Hi again, so since october 28, I have been trying to install and run an old kernel from before this shutdown problem happened and I am now running 4.4.0-210-generic, for the last week(and I use my laptop every day most of the day), I have had no shutdown problems. Since this problem occur in newer kernels too, than maybe developers can look to this kernel and see what is different, that might cause the problem. To people who want to use this older kernel, just open synaptics and look first to what you have installed by searching for your kernel version number - do not add linux-image or linux-headers. You should see what is installed and modules. Make a screenshot or write it down, then look for this old kernel the same way and install the items from your list. Wait for it to finish. Then either use Grub customizerI use this as there is a GUI and a lot of options, like having a list of kernels shown on start up) or you can just run sudo update-grub from terminal Restart your machine Edit these instructions to fit your own system, that might be different from mine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1594023 Title: Poweroff or reboot hangs. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. [Bug 1951678] Re: Sync micropython 1.17+ds-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately micropython still doesn't build correctly in all architectures: https://launchpad.net/~sergiodj/+archive/ubuntu/micropython- merge/+packages It's FTBFS'ing on ppc64el and s390x. I noticed that the Debian package also has the same issue: https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=micropython This will need to be fixed before we sync the package into Ubuntu. For this reason, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete. ** Changed in: micropython (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951678 Title: Sync micropython 1.17+ds-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/micropython/+bug/1951678/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1920107] Re: Failed messages of sd-umount shown with reboot/shutdown
> IMO it is out of scope for finalrd to unmount mounts > which can't be cleanly unmounted. Er, this is nonsense. The entire point of finalrd is to ensure we pivot to an initramfs after all other processes have been terminated, so that it is possible to cleanly unmount the root filesystem with no errors. For the root filesystem to be busy and failing to unmount is clearly a bug in either systemd or finalrd. ** Changed in: finalrd (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1920107 Title: Failed messages of sd-umount shown with reboot/shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1920107/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Additional information/research: In the "manage bookmarks" window, it appears to work fine to move the items to the positions i want them to be. Most of the time this works as expected, but sometimes they dont land exactly where I placed them (as indicated by the line that appears as soon as they are in dragging mode). It was marked as broken in the gnome extensions management tool but also turned off. I removed it additionally. After logging out and back in, alt-tab worked again. After installing gnome-shell-extensions back, logging out and in again, it worked, too. So, to me it looks like I dont have that problem anymore, thanks! Sometimes the crash makes it into the syslog, sometimes it doesn't. When it does, nvidia is on the call trace stack. A clip from a crash log is attached. I ran memtest86 V8.4. No failures. [Bug 1907128] Re: Subiquity only provisions half of available space for root logical volume
That's by design? So you think it's better to ignore what the user asked for because you know what we want better than we do? That's so Microsoft of you. The result is you're making subiquity less dependable (will I get what I ask for or not?) and less useful so that we have to work around it. Thanks for the extra work ... and yes I'm upset about the software taking a task that should be simple and making it harder. Please reconsider this. This action it's doing now is a bug! [Bug 1951686] [NEW] USB drives turns read-only when emptying Trash
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Nautilus version: 1:3.36.3-0ubuntu1.20.04.1 Overview: Nautilus appears to move files to Trash when deleting files, regardless of what drive it happens on. This threw me off for a bit as I never expected deleted files to be moved into trash on a USB drive, I expected it to permanently delete. Expected behaviour: After moving to Trash, when I empty the Trash, it should actually empty and reclaim storage space. Actual behaviour: When emptying Trash, the entire USB drive turns read-only. This happened regardless of what USB drive I tested. The Trash, also, doesn't actually get emptied. Trying to delete the `.Trash-1000` folder in Terminal shows that it is indeed read-only file system. Thinking it was corrupted I put the USB drive in my MacBook Pro and it works there. Deleted `.Trash-1000` on the MBP and now it works. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951686 Title: USB drives turns read-only when emptying Trash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1951686/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1951685] [NEW] Chromium flatpak reliably crashes xdg-desktop-portal
Public bug reported: For a while now I am facing the issue that Chromium installed via Flatpak after a minute or so stops working with a puzzling error ERR_NO_SUPPORTED_PROXIES. [Bug 1951399] Re: Ubuntu, Budgie, Kubuntu, Kylin, MATE, Xubuntu: jammy daily fails to install
Because this bug prevents completion of Jammy Jellyfish installation it seems testing is halted for the time being until the issue is addressed. As this situation arose on 8-11-2021 and it seems to have had no attention since then I am guessing the developers consider this to be a matter of little or no importance at this time. I suspect that they are aware of what is holding things up and will return the daily-live releases to a state where testing can resume when they are ready. I also reason that until then bug reports for Jammy will be of no value. I will watch the proceedings with interest and wait until my efforts can be of some use. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951399 Title: Ubuntu, Budgie, Kubuntu, Kylin, MATE, Xubuntu: jammy daily fails to install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1951399/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1951680] [NEW] DDNet client server browser doesn't show most servers
Public bug reported: Hi, I'm the upstream maintainer of DDNet. We have a bug currently on Ubuntu that makes it impossible to see non-empty servers in the server browser starting with DDNet 15.5: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/issues/4202 Fix is https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/pull/4357 Would it be possible to fix ddnet 15.5.4 on Ubuntu with the patch? Otherwise it is currently unusable. We are also in the process of releasing DDNet 15.7 with this fix, but it will take a few days to release. The problem only occurs when using system libjsonparser instead of our custom one, so our vendor releases are not affected. [Bug 1854588] Re: gdebi-gtk calls pkexec inappropriately
@Patrick Fasano (kc9jud) I've just made a new blank VM, downloaded a fresh copy of the Ubuntu MATE 20.04.3 amd64 ISO... and installed it (the only choices I made of note were.. picking a Minimal install with 3rd party firmware/codecs/etc..) I can not confirm your findings. I tried going to these sites to download their 64-bit .deb packages (follow the most obvious links to download on each site)... - nomachine.com - teamviewer.com - skype.com And found that whether you... a) allow Firefox to save to disk and afterwards open the .deb from within Firefox (either from the Downloads button on the toolbar, or within the Library window of Firefox)... or... b) ask Firefox to 'Open with' the 'GDebi Package Installer (default)' upon it finishing the download... You get the same issue where GDebi opens but the 'Install Package' button makes GDebi instantly close. However (just as before), if you go to your Downloads folder in an actual file manager (outside of a web browser like Firefox or Chrome) and open the .deb... then the 'Install Package' button functions normally. Nothing has really changed with this bug at all... I'm pretty sure I first noticed this way back in 14.04 (so this bug is now over 6 years old in reality) and it's one of the worse experiences a first time user of Linux could have. Especially when you consider most have come from a world where a .exe or a .dmg (when downloaded)...
