[Bug 1953121] [NEW] jks-keystore hook fails with "java: not found" during package install

2021-12-02 Thread Tomáš Virtus
Public bug reported:

This is a fresh report of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ca-
certificates-java/+bug/1406483 with same steps to reproduce. Currently
it can be reproduced in both impish and jammy.

ca-certificates-java installs /etc/ca-certificates/update.d/jks-keystore
that's being run as part of package installation. The hook is run before
update-alternatives installs /usr/bin/java. The script modifies its own
PATH by looking for known JRE (or JDK) installs in /usr/lib/jvm.
However, the list of known JREs is hardcoded and outdated. When ca-
certificatges-java is installed as a dependency of openjdk-17-jre-
headless, no known JRE is found, and PATH is unchanged, so there's no
java in PATH when this is first JRE being installed on the system.

The fix in linked bug synced from Debian just adds paths of newer JREs
to check. Currently paths up to Java 11 are checked. This issue will
keep resurfacing unless ca-certificates-java is kept up to date with
latest JRE in archives, or the search for JRE is changed.

Steps to reproduce in official Docker jammy image (where no JRE is installed):
$ sudo docker run ubuntu:impish bash -c 'apt-get update && apt-get install -y
openjdk-17-jre-headless'

2021-12-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

Your kernel log is indeed full of USB errors. This is most likely a
hardware fault in the mouse, the port or the motherboard. Otherwise it
would be a kernel bug.

[Bug 1922406]

2021-12-02 Thread niclas
For me, I'm on Debian testing (bookworm) with the latest debian-released
kernel 5.15.0, I have no problems anymore. I did'nt have problem with
5.13 either actually.

And the mentioned problem from me above, about not having both bluetooth
and the wifi side of the chip working at the same time, has also gone
away.

So which kernel are you considering? The fix of removing the pnvm-file
in /lib/firmware works without problem if you really need to move up to
a higher revision of the kernel I guess.

[Bug 1953069] Re: chromium snap install fail

2021-12-02 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

Launchpad tracks issues with deb packages
(https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic-updates/chromium-browser); snapd
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd) etc, but not snaps such as what
you're filing the report about.

For details on snaps like you're issue please look at
https://snapcraft.io/chromium where bug reporting info can be found at
the bottom; I'll change this to package to snapd.

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1953069

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

** Package changed: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) => snapd (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1883174] Re: [SRU]Some (or all) desktop icons are missing

2021-12-02 Thread Bin Li
I installed 21.04 on X1 Nano, I found it used
gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng by default.
So I removed the gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng and installed
gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons, and enable the extension in tweak-tool,
after that I couldn't reproduce this issue.

2021-12-02 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

Thanks for the thoughtful comment, Athos.

We've discussed this in private, so you know that my preference is (c).
Although you could merge 9.16.2x right now, this would mean going
"ahead" of Debian (in the sense that we'd be releasing a version that is
not and has never been present in unstable), which requires a bit more
work than a regular merge, and then maybe throwing this away if/when
upstream releases 9.18 and Debian picks it up (assuming they both do
this before our Feature Freeze).

So yeah, I think we should postpone this merge to the beginning of
February and reassess the situation when we get there. If there's no
9.18 by then, you can merge 9.16.2x and be done with it.

Thanks,

Blade 15 laptop (RZ09-0409x) with two NVMe drives. One with windows and
one with Ubuntu.

Upstream kernel 5.15 did not have this issue. I was able to bisect the
fix back to

bc2836859643 ACPI: PM: Do not turn off power resources in unknown state

This patch is marked as fixing a commit that first landed in 5.14, but
this commit was a rework, and the actual broken logic was introduced
much earlier in 5.13. As such, the fix requires a few additional cherry
picks.

On 5.13.0-22-generic

$ dmesg | grep nvme
[sudo] password for ubuntu:
[1.266638] nvme nvme0: pci function :02:00.0
[1.266646] nvme :02:00.0: can't change power state from D3cold to D0
(config space inaccessible)
[1.266696] nvme nvme1: pci function :03:00.0
[1.267189] nvme nvme0: Removing after probe failure status: -19
[1.273614] nvme nvme1: missing or invalid SUBNQN field.
[1.273633] nvme nvme1: Shutdown timeout set to 8 seconds
[1.290515] nvme nvme1: 16/0/0 default/read/poll queues
[1.293385] nvme1n1: p1 p2
[4.297893] EXT4-fs (nvme1n1p2): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
Opts: (null). Quota mode: none.
[4.584787] EXT4-fs (nvme1n1p2): re-mounted. Opts: errors=remount-ro. Quota
mode: none.

First nvme device does not show up in lsblk.

After apply the following patch set to the master-next of the impish kernel,

587024b8210d ACPI: power: Use u8 as the power resource state data type
ca84f18798a4 ACPI: power: Save the last known state of each power resource
6381195ad7d0 ACPI: power: Rework turning off unused power resources
db9b6d87a8d4 ACPI: power: Use dev_dbg() to print some messages
fad40a624854 ACPI: power: Use acpi_handle_debug() to print debug messages
bc2836859643 ACPI: PM: Do not turn off power resources in unknown state

The nvme power state error is no longer present, and the device loads
properly.

Also, the fixing patch was marked for inclusion in 5.14 stable, but
never made it since it did not cherry pick cleanly. Just the last two
patches in the above list are needed for the 5.14 kernel.

[Bug 1948764] Re: Fail to pass suspend/resume test

2021-12-02 Thread ethan.hsieh
@Chris

Xilinx classic focal images[1][2] is the only one image released by Canonical.
It includes xf86-video-armsoc-endlessm (1.4.1-0ubuntu6~20.04ppa1) and a meta
package. (1.4.1-0ubuntu6~20.04ppa1) didn't be upstreamed because of the tight
schedule. This package has dropped Implement-platform-Probe-driver-call.patch.
The meta package includes the following config files:
/etc/X11/Xwrapper.config
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/xilinx-zynqmp.conf
/etc/udev/rules.d/50-mali-conf.rules
etc

The Xilinx image released by Canonical is for Xilinx zcu102/104/106 and
this package is customized for this Xilinx image and these boards. The
GPU on zcu102/104/106 is Mali-400 MP2. The config files are not part of
this package because we may need different configurations on other
Xilinx platforms with different Mali GPU.

The Xilinx image released by Canonical already includes Xwrapper.conf.
So, the Xilinx image's users won't see this issue when this package get updated.

[Bug 1953035] Re: blank screen after loging in ubuntu 22.04's wayland session at gnome-boxes

2021-12-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

Thanks for the bug report.

First please remove any extensions you might have locally installed:

  cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
  rm -rf extensions

and then log in again.

Next time the "delaying" starts please hit Ctrl+Alt+T to open a Terminal
and then run 'top' to see what process is using high CPU.

Please also look at bug 1181666 to see if it's the same issue.

[Bug 1950326] Re: roundcube cannot run in Impish

2021-12-02 Thread Gordon Lack
If it's any help I ended up using a download of the standard 1.5 on
Impish. It needed:

php-pear
php-sqlite3
php-json
php-mbstring
php-intl
libapache2-mod-php
sqlite3

from Impish. (I have a sqlite3 database).

2021-12-02 Thread Brian Murray
Actually, this doesn't really need fixing in Impish because one would
have to modify /etc/apport/crashdb.conf so that crashes could be
reported to Launchpad and we don't really want crash reports from stable
releases in Launchpad.

Also, from the studio-controls GUI please set System Tweaks-> Logging level to

[Bug 1953083] [NEW] ftbfs with py3.10

2021-12-02 Thread Dan Bungert
Public bug reported:

pyqt5 will fail in autopkgtest like so:
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named '_dbus_bindings'

Pulling in new dbus-python allows the build to get further but then
fails to install due to missing debug packages.

in other packages.

2021-12-02 Thread Robie Basak

I spoke to another SRU team member who concurred. We're not willing to
accept an SRU unless there is at least one user reported or expected to
benefit from it.

Therefore, for now, I'm rejecting this upload and marking it Won't Fix.

If there is anyone still affected, please let us know by commenting on
this bug, and we can pick it up again.

[Bug 1948764] Re: Fail to pass suspend/resume test

2021-12-02 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
It seems to me that there's no reason why a user of this package couldn't have
either:
a) changed the configuration in /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config to not require root -
my understanding is that with the current package that would work, or
b) Built a custom image using this package that did not contain the
/etc/X11/Xwrapper.conf

If either of those are plausible, then when they pull updates and
upgrade to this new package, their systems will break.

Is there any ballpark estimate for how hard it would be to fix the
suspend issue *without* regressing the run-as-not-root case?
