[Bug 1953628] Re: Too high CPU load in qemu-system-x86 compared to Ubuntu 21.04/21.10
Hi Bert, thanks for the extra info. I'm still confused by "Ubuntu 21.10+Virtualbox 6.1.30 run on the bare metal a Ryzen 3 2200G" vs "highest level is always Ubuntu 14.04". Probably a terminology thing what in virtualization is up and down :-) Let me try to make sense of it :-) So are we talking about: a) PC -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> virt-manger/qemu -> Ubuntu14.04 b) PC -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Mate -> virt-manger/qemu -> Ubuntu14.04 c) PC -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Budgie -> virt-manger/qemu -> Ubuntu14.04 d) PC -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 -> virtualbox -> Ubuntu14.04 And of these a+d are "fast" and b+c are "slow" - is that correct? And the comparison a->b/c is what makes you assume it is a regression? As of today the virtualization components of 21.10 and 22.04 (qmeu/virt-manager/libvirt) are still mostly the same as I only planned to upgrade them in ~Jan/Feb which makes this extra interesting. So maybe some other component in 22.04 changed already that makes this happen. If my above summary is wrong, could you please provide the real setup in the same less-misleading form I tried to write it up? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953628 Title: Too high CPU load in qemu-system-x86 compared to Ubuntu 21.04/21.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1953628/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1927255] Re: [USB-Audio - RODECaster Pro, playback] Sound is distorted (20.04)
Hey guys, I was the one who started the amd chipset rumor. We've been talking about the issue over at https://forum.level1techs.com/t/rodecaster-pro-bad-audio-out-solved- ish/170601. At first I thought it was an amd vs intel issue just due to the hardware I had on hand that worked/didn't work. After someone popped in mentioning their intel device having the issue and a pcie card they bought also having the issue it seems like the issue is with all usb3.2 gen2x2 host controllers, or at least that's my best guess. I picked up a different pcie usb card than the person had trouble with and that was 3.2 gen2x2 capable. I can reproduce the issue on both it, and my motherboard usb ports. However, using a usb3.0 pcie card the issue goes away. One strange thing to me about all of this is that the rodecaster pro is negotiating usb2 480mbps connections, so i'm not sure why a later usb spec would mess with that. It's also worth noting that the issue seems to be related to the usb host controller itself as using ports capable of different speeds/going through usb hubs or directly connecting doesn't change the behavior. I also don't have a usb 3.1 gen2 host controller to test to see if the issue is truly only with usb 3.2 gen2x2 controllers. Debugging any further than that is proving difficult though. [Bug 1954348] [NEW] sed 4.8-1 needs patch disabling non-portable tests
Public bug reported: The sed 4.8-1 package currently in proposed is failing to migrate due to a failing test on armhf. The patch added in 4.7-1ubuntu1 is still required to work around this, and the attached debdiff restores this. The patch has been applied upstream to gnulib (https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/gnulib.git/commit/?id=175e0bc72808d564074c4adcc72aeadb74adfcc6) but sed upstream has not yet bumped the version of gnulib that it vendors in (or more precisely has not made a release since bumping its version of gnulib; 4.8 predates that). The patch itself simply disables the non-portable tests which is not exactly ideal, but given it's what upstream's gone with we ought to follow suit. ** Affects: sed (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "sed-migration.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954348/+attachment/5546537/+files/sed-migration.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954348 Title: sed 4.8-1 needs patch disabling non-portable tests To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sed/+bug/1954348/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954342] [NEW] Client authentication error "Failed to convert SID ... to a PID"
Public bug reported: After an unattended upgrade to samba 2:4.7.6+dfsg~ubuntu-0ubuntu2.26 on our fileserver, clients are not able to establish a connection to samba- shares. The fileserver serves as a domain member server with an ldap on a different machine (see output of testparm below). Given the correct login credentials, the client responds with: tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED and the client specific samba-logfile on the fileserver will show: [2021/12/09 15:04:29.783978, 0] ../source3/auth/auth_util.c:1259(check_account) check_account: Failed to convert SID S-1-2-34-5678910-11121314-15161718-192021 to a UID (dom_user[MYDOMAIN\myusername]) A wrong password in a client throws: session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE The config was working fine until the unattended upgrade from samba 2:4.7.6+dfsg~ubuntu-0ubuntu2.23 to 2:4.7.6+dfsg~ubuntu-0ubuntu2.26 I have tried to reproduce the behaviour on an Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS with samba 4.13.14 and ran into the same error. [Bug 1954340] [NEW] Fan stopped working after firmware upgrade
Public bug reported: There was a firmware upgrade available this morning that I did. After that when I boot up my computer I noticed it was getting very hot. I then realized that the fan was no longer blowing. I don't remember exactly what the upgrade notes said but I recall it had something to do with either fan or CPU. The fan works before the OS starts but once the computer starts to boot the fan stops blowing even if the computer is very hot (Over 90 degrees Celsius). Possible confounding factors: My boot partition was too small and I was getting problems doing installations. I've since reinstalled to increase the size. 1) lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 21.10 Release:21.10 2) Not sure which package. Occurred after a firmware upgrade I installed this morning. 3) I expect the fan to blow like I used to (I think it was always on but for sure it would come on if the temperature went up) 4) The fan does not come on even if the CPU temp goes over 90 degrees Celsius. The following upstream stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel: upstream stable patchset 2021-12-09 Ported from the following upstream stable releases: v5.10.80, v5.14.19, v5.14.20 from git://git.kernel.org/ Note: This patch set includes patches from v5.10.80 and v5.14.19. v5.14.20 was comprised entirely of a handful of reverts to patches we never carried in Impish. xhci: Fix USB 3.1 enumeration issues by increasing roothub power-on-good delay usb: xhci: Enable runtime-pm by default on AMD Yellow Carp platform Input: iforce - fix control-message timeout Input: elantench - fix misreporting trackpoint coordinates Input: i8042 - Add quirk for Fujitsu Lifebook T725 libata: fix read log timeout value ocfs2: fix data corruption on truncate scsi: core: Remove command size deduction from scsi_setup_scsi_cmnd() scsi: qla2xxx: Fix kernel crash when accessing port_speed sysfs file scsi: qla2xxx: Fix use after free in eh_abort path mmc: mtk-sd: Add wait dma stop done flow mmc: dw_mmc: Dont wait for DRTO on Write RSP error exfat: fix incorrect loading of i_blocks for large files parisc: Fix set_fixmap() on PA1.x CPUs parisc: Fix ptrace check on syscall return tpm: Check for integer overflow in tpm2_map_response_body() firmware/psci: fix application of sizeof to pointer crypto: s5p-sss - Add error handling in s5p_aes_probe() media: rkvdec: Do not override sizeimage for output format media: ite-cir: IR receiver stop working after receive overflow media: rkvdec: Support dynamic resolution changes media: ir-kbd-i2c: improve responsiveness of hauppauge zilog receivers media: v4l2-ioctl: Fix check_ext_ctrls ALSA: hda/realtek: Fix mic mute LED for the HP Spectre x360 14 ALSA: hda/realtek: Add a quirk for HP OMEN 15 mute LED ALSA: hda/realtek: Add quirk for Clevo PC70HS ALSA: hda/realtek: Headset fixup for Clevo NH77HJQ ALSA: hda/realtek: Add a quirk for Acer Spin SP513-54N ALSA: hda/realtek: Add quirk for ASUS UX550VE ALSA: hda/realtek: Add quirk for HP EliteBook 840 G7 mute LED ALSA: ua101: fix division by zero at probe ALSA: 6fire: fix control and bulk message timeouts ALSA: line6: fix control and interrupt message timeouts ALSA: usb-audio: Line6 HX-Stomp XL USB_ID for 48k-fixed quirk ALSA: usb-audio: Add registration quirk for JBL Quantum 400 ALSA: hda: Free card instance properly at probe errors ALSA: synth: missing check for possible NULL after the call to kstrdup ALSA: timer: Fix use-after-free problem ALSA: timer: Unconditionally unlink slave instances, too ext4: fix lazy initialization next schedule time computation in more granular unit ext4: ensure enough credits in ext4_ext_shift_path_extents ext4: refresh the ext4_ext_path struct after dropping i_data_sem. fuse: fix page stealing x86/sme: Use #define USE_EARLY_PGTABLE_L5 in mem_encrypt_identity.c x86/cpu: Fix migration safety with X86_BUG_NULL_SEL x86/irq: Ensure PI wakeup handler is unregistered before module unload ASoC: soc-core: fix null-ptr-deref in snd_soc_del_component_unlocked() ALSA: hda/realtek: Fixes HP Spectre x360 15-eb1xxx speakers cavium: Return negative value when pci_alloc_irq_vectors() fails scsi: qla2xxx: Return -ENOMEM if kzalloc() fails scsi: qla2xxx: Fix unmap of already freed sgl mISDN: Fix return values of the probe function cavium: Fix return values of the probe function sfc: Export fibre-specific supported link modes sfc: Don't use netif_info before net_device setup hyperv/vmbus: include linux/bitops.h ARM: dts: sun7i: A20-olinuxino-lime2: Fix ethernet phy-mode reset: socfpga: add empty driver allowing consumers to probe mmc: winbond: don't build on M68K drm: panel-orientation-quirks: Add quirk for Aya Neo 2021 fcnal-test: kill hanging ping/nettest binaries on cleanup bpf: Define bpf_jit_alloc_exec_limit for arm64 JIT bpf: Prevent increasing bpf_jit_limit above max gpio: mlxbf2.c: Add check for bgpio_init failure xen/netfront: stop tx queues during live migration nvmet-tcp: fix a memory leak when releasing a queue spi: spl022: fix Microwire full duplex mode net: multicast: calculate csum of looped-back and forwarded packets watchdog: Fix OMAP watchdog early handling drm: panel-orientation-quirks: Add quirk for GPD Win3 block: schedule queue restart after BLK_STS_ZONE_RESOURCE nvmet-tcp: fix header digest verification r8169: Add device 10ec:8162 to driver r8169 vmxnet3: do not stop tx queues after netif_device_detach() nfp: bpf: relax prog rejection for mtu check through max_pkt_offset net/smc: Fix smc_link->llc_testlink_time overflow

[Bug 1954335] [NEW] nouveau driver frequently freezing / crashing kernel on fresh 20.04 install
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1217585 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1217585 Public bug reported: Hello, I'm experiencing frequent crashes that hard-lock the system and kernel completely. (kernel was compiled with CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ=y) I tracked down the issue to the nouveau driver (see attached journalctl logs for crash dump) The primary and only PCI Video card in the system is quite old and thus should be well supported: - 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT215 [GeForce GT 240] (rev a2) lshw output: $ sudo lshw -class display *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: GT215 [GeForce GT 240] vendor: NVIDIA Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@:01:00.0 version: a2 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=nouveau latency=0 resources: irq:166 memory:ee00-eeff memory:d000-dfff memory:e000-e1ff ioport:e000(size=128) memory:c-d ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "journalctl logs from last nouveau crash" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954335/+attachment/5546522/+files/2021-12-09-nouveau-kernel-crashbug.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954335 Title: nouveau driver frequently freezing / crashing kernel on fresh 20.04 install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1954335/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
