Ubuntu 20.04 LTS comes with apport package installed by default; as it's the Ubuntu bug tool. [Bug 1876758] Re: Menu bar missing for various applications
Found the fix on the interwebs - https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/ubuntu-20-04-no-menu-bar-in- libreoffice/53831/2 sudo apt remove indicator-appmenu And then after rebooting there will be some errant entries in the top menu. Press Windows key + alt key and right mouse click and remove the errant top menu entries that appeared. Then the window menus will appear. I totally agree with the poster where I found the fix - With each release of Ubuntu since 14, it gets worse, but he said 10. I thought it got better till 10, then worse after 14. I absolutely hate the newer interfaces and find I have to do more install and exotic configuration with each release, 18 and now 20. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876758 Title: Menu bar missing for various applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-flashback/+bug/1876758/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1955513] [NEW] NUC11PAHi7-Tiger Lake
Public bug reported: in Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish 22.04, with kernel 5.13.0-22-generic running on the NUC11PAHi7 hardware platform, the audio is broken. No audio is output over HDMI or headphone jack despite the sound hardware being detected. The issue is with the OS/Kernel since I booted the hardware with Windows 10 and it worked. Another issue is that the machine constantly drops the WiFi connection, again this is behavior not observed when I booted into Win 10. BIOS is the stock default version PATGL357.0041 and there is no other current update available. Please fix. [Bug 1955504] Re: firmware bug on bootup
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1955504/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1955496] [NEW] Imposible to install UEFI into the EFI partition
Public bug reported: At the first installation on a partitioned disk : 1 swap 2 EFI 3 root 4 /usr/local 5 /opt 6 /home 7 /tmp begin the installation and stop after few minutes saying that Ubuntu try to install package for Grub UEFI and failed may be the uefi security key or something like this. (I do not know why) It says also that the system will not boot and I have to send you this report. When I open a Shell, and visit the target, I see that I haven't the right to read without sudo and when I list the content of EFI with sudo I see that I haven't the right to write inside. [Bug 1955494] [NEW] roger-router crashes while starting
Public bug reported: Roger-Router starts, showing the Assistant-start-button. The only thing you can do is press this button to start the assistant. Starting the assistant works exactly once. Right after finishing the first panel asking for a profile name, the process of detecting routers finishes with success, then roger-router crashes. You can start roger-router again. You'll prompted with the assistant-start-button, press it, enter the same profile name. In tune the button "Continue" is disabled and you are stuck. If you select an other name, you can proceed. It will finish the assistant again successfully, then crash. You may start roger-router again. You'll prompted with the assistant-start-button, press it, enter the first profile name. In tune the button "Continue" is disabled. You'll enter the second profile name. "Continue" is disabled again. You may select a third profile name, click "Continue" and, after successfully finishing the assistant, watch roger-router crash. Every time you do it, a new profile is created somewhere and you are not allowed to use this profile. Roger-Router will force you to create a new profile, crashing right after having it created successfully. In case of not having all floating IPs registers in this file, the method: - Creates a new priority for this floating IP. - Creates the "ip rule" in the namespace. - Adds a new entry in "self.floating_ips_dict". All "ip rules" present in the namespace that do not match the registered fixed IP address ("from") and the priority assigned are deleted. [Bug 1955489] [NEW] Patch to polkit policy breaks automatic/unattended updates
Public bug reported: In Kubuntu KDE system settings, there is an option to enable automatic updates. However I wondered why this never actually updated the system, despite that I had automatic updates enabled for some time. Turns out, KDE uses Discover to update the system unattended. And discover uses packagekit to trigger offline updates. Now here is the problem: Usually this would work. It does on other distros which don't patch the polkit policy. But not on (K)ubuntu. In the package sources there is a patch for the debian/ubuntu package: /debian/patches/policy.diff This patch does change the permission to do offline updates from all active users to only admins. Here: ``` @@ -273,7 +271,7 @@ Trigger offline updates @@ -282,7 +280,7 @@ auth_admin auth_admin - yes + auth_admin_keep ``` With this patch, it prompts the user for a password before allowing offline updates. Now in unattended update mode, this prompt is hidden. So basically with that patch, unattended updates on Kubuntu just fail silently. Removing this patch (or at least reverting the change in this "org.freedesktop.packagekit.trigger-offline-update" action) makes auto updates work again. [Bug 1847275] Re: stunnel4: "INTERNAL ERROR: Bad magic at ssl.c, line 117" - DoS vulnerability
I also think CVE-2021-20230 and this bug are probably two different things. But Steve Arnold is also addressing CVE-2021-20230 in Comment#25, and it's still considered unfixed on https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2021-20230. So there is a a relation to this CVE, but CVE-2021-20230 is not describing this bug. This Bug should be worth a CVE, but I did't find one really describing this, yet. I'm trying one of Steves Arnolds Packages, now. [Bug 903602] Re: CIFS automount with "nounix" option create empty directories
funny, just saw, that the bug is quite exactly 10years old, which is why it looked like from this month. The problem still looks very similar but it isn't a regression from 5.4.0.89 to 5.4.0.91 at all. The kernel seems to get confused though if you mount a share once with and later withouth unix extensions. In such a situation unmounting *all* cifs shares helped to solve it. [Bug 1946987] Re: Nvidia 340 Xorg driver is installed but not loaded after OS upgrade
** Description changed: I tried both nouveau and nvidia-340 drivers. It used to work at least by the latter one in Xubuntu 18.04, even with HWE kernel When using the nvidia-340 driver: $ xrandr xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1200, current 1920 x 1200, maximum 1920 x 1200 default connected 1920x1200+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1920x1200 77.00* A device is connected in HDMI and xrand does not even list the connector. When using nouveau, HDMI is listed but it shows as disconnected. WORKAROUND when using nvidia driver: Log out of session. Then lightdm screen shows on both monitors. And if I then log in to a session, the extrernal monitor works there, too. + + If I use Budgie Desktop instead of Xfce as desktop environment, it will + automatically log out to the LightDM login screen, if I first try to + start that Budgie session and then the HDMI output is used as well. Hi, I'm working on a new build for debian experimental with version 5.31b for now multiboot patch is disabled and binaries should be near to upstream build work done for now about memtest86+ package is here: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/memtest86plus/-/commits/debian/experimental is someone want help to test it Note for users: 5.31b is marked upstream as not ready for production, keep attention! even if for what I see for now is better that 5.01 that is unusable or not correctly working on major of recent systems About multiboot I don't have knowledge about assembly and the boot part except a little something done years ago that I hardly remember anything about, I don't have enough time recently to read up and study the parts. Is there anyone with enough knowledge about it to help me get the correct multiboot part please? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876157 Title: Memtest86+ in Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't work, switch to Coreboot branch or package new release v5.31b is available since 12/04/2020 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/memtest86+/+bug/1876157/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 903602] Re: CIFS automount with "nounix" option create empty directories
I've CCd kernel package maintainer Stefan Bader also. I've seen this problem on a customer machine also with current linux- image hwe-18.04 (5.4.0.91) kernels. Directories with nounix mount option are empty. Previous 5.4.0.89 seems to have issues *with* unix extensions here though, that one wan not able to mount at all if the unix mount option is added. The current bug with "successful" but empty cifs mounts is worse though. ** Package changed: autofs (Ubuntu) => linux-meta (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903602 Title: CIFS automount with "nounix" option create empty directories To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/903602/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1955428] Re: request la_VA locale
I'm also seeing that there has been some activity on CLDR for a definition of Latin among supported locales: https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/seed/main/la.xml However, I see that Ancient / Classical Latin has been used rather than Ecclesiastical Latin in some cases in the proposed definition. I'm checking in with the Pontifical Academy for the Latin Language ( https://www.pontificiaacademialatinitatis.org/ ) and with other academic resources such as the Pontifical Institute for Higher Latin at the Salesian University in Rome, for a consultation, so as to propose a correct definition that will be useful for modern uses. If I have any updates from this consultation, I will post them here (my understanding is that comments posted here will be synched back upstream?) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955428 Title: request la_VA locale To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/glibc/+bug/1955428/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
