[Bug 1968929] Re: Missing Wayland login option on NVIDIA systems
I have a laptop with Intel+NVIDIA combo. I did a fresh install. Ubuntu uses Xorg and now it even feels choppier with more screen tearing than my previous 20.04 installation. I see none of the speed improvement claims from 22.04's release notes in the gnome session. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968929 Title: Missing Wayland login option on NVIDIA systems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1968929/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1970005] [NEW] gnome-shell-extension-manager missing from Ubuntu Software
Public bug reported: Impact = Someone looking for the new Extension Manager app in the Ubuntu Software app (or the GNOME Software app) to install and manage GNOME Shell extensions won't be able to find it. https://appstream.ubuntu.com/jammy/universe/issues/gnome-shell- extension-manager.html Test Case = If this works correctly, This page should be created and look ok: https://appstream.ubuntu.com/jammy-proposed/universe/metainfo/gnome-shell-extension-manager.html And you should be able to see the app in the Ubuntu Software app. You might need to log out and log back in to make sure the background service for Ubuntu Software is stopped and refreshed. We need to wait for the AppStream metadata to be generated by appstream.ubuntu.com and published for this fix to work. I expect that could take a day. What Could Go Wrong === The only thing this update is doing is moving the AppStream metadata to a different location. Since the AppStream metadata is currently not being recognized by Ubuntu's appstream generator, this can' make things any worse. Other Info == It is a big tricky to test and validate appstream fixes like this one. For instance, AppStream metadata is not generated for PPAs. It's been a few years since I've done an AppStream fix like this. I think the test case will work here, but there's a chance it won't. For reference, here is the current error: https://appstream.ubuntu.com/jammy/universe/issues/gnome-shell-extension-manager.html And this page is missing because of that error: https://appstream.ubuntu.com/jammy/universe/metainfo/gnome-shell-extension-manager.html When this bug is fully fixed, those pages will still be there, but first the jammy-proposed pages will look better and then jammy-updates. ** Affects: gnome-shell-extension-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Jeremy Bicha (jbicha) Status: In Progress ** Tags: appstream jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970005 Title: gnome-shell-extension-manager missing from Ubuntu Software To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-manager/+bug/1970005/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Patrick, I just want to say a big “Thank You”. I have been struggling with this issue for about two months. Your DSDT files haven't worked on my laptop, even my touchpad stopped working after I applied it lol. I got the same bug. If hciuart.service was started before /dev/serial1 is created, it fails. Fixed by adding systemd override with "Requires" directive: # systemctl cat hciuart # /lib/systemd/system/hciuart.service [Unit] Description=Configure Bluetooth Modems connected by UART ConditionFileNotEmpty=/proc/device-tree/soc/gpio@7e20/bt_pins/brcm,pins After=dev-serial1.device [Service] Type=forking ExecStart=/usr/bin/btuart [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target # /etc/systemd/system/hciuart.service.d/override.conf [Unit] Requires=dev-serial1.device < fix of this problem Here's what documentation says: After=: The units listed in this directive will be started before starting the current unit. This does not imply a dependency relationship and one must be established through the above directives if this is required. Requires=: This directive lists any units upon which this unit essentially depends. If the current unit is activated, the units listed here must successfully activate as well, else this unit will fail. [Bug 1969998] [NEW] Dark themes not used properly in virtualbox - light grey text on slightly whiter grey
Public bug reported: Ubuntu MATE 22.04 does a really good job of having (almost) everything reflect the chosen theme. One of the exceptions is virtualbox 6.1, where having a dark theme for the system results in virtualbox showing light grey text on what remains a slightly whiter (rather than dark grey) background. When one of the virtual machines is selected, its name and power state are - on my theme - a medium light green, but as the text is still light grey, it is still hard to read. In the virtual machine's details, some text appears blue when moused over otherwise it's the light grey on slightly lighter grey. ** Affects: virtualbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969998 Title: Dark themes not used properly in virtualbox - light grey text on slightly whiter grey To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1969998/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1969995] [NEW] xserver-xorg is set to depend on python3-apport making it impossible to uninstall
Public bug reported: Hi After I found out that python3-apport is latching onto python3 and runs even on the python scripts I write, I tried to uninstall the python3-apport package. That resulted in: apt-get --purge remove python3-apport Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: apport-symptoms gir1.2-wnck-3.0 libwhoopsie-preferences0 libxatracker2 libxvmc1 python3-problem-report python3-systemd whoopsie-preferences x11-apps x11-session-utils xinit xserver-xorg-legacy xserver-xorg-video-all xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-fbdev xserver-xorg-video-intel xserver-xorg-video-nouveau xserver-xorg-video-qxl xserver-xorg-video-radeon xserver-xorg-video-vesa xserver-xorg-video-vmware Use 'apt autoremove' to remove them. The following packages will be REMOVED: apport* apport-gtk* python3-apport* xorg* xserver-xorg* xubuntu-core* xubuntu-desktop* 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 7 to remove and 0 not upgraded. After this operation, 2 136 kB disk space will be freed. Do you want to continue? [Y/n] From what I can see xserver-xorg is set to directly depend on python3-apport. Why is this needed? If one don't want this obtrusive package, why should that prevent xserver-xorg to function? Python3-apport should at most be recommended because the only package of those listed above is the that requires apport which in turn requires python3-apport is xubuntu-desktop. In the description of xubuntu-desktop it is written: Description: Xubuntu desktop system This package depends on all of the packages in the Xubuntu desktop system . It is safe to remove this package if some of the desktop system packages are not desired. I guess the same goes for ubuntu-desktop (or what name the equivelent package has). So please change this dependency so it is possible to remove python3-apport for those of us that can't have such packages hooked into python. [Bug 1929209] Re: [i915] external monitor goes black for several seconds at a time, randomly
No one else has joined this bug, but it has continued to make life with my expensive monitor extremely annoying. And despite suggestions above, I am certain this is not a hardware problem. Here is new proof: yesterday, I initiated an upgrade (do-release-upgrade) to 22.04 from 21.10 from the command line. By chance, I tried full-screening a video while the upgrade was in progress. Amazingly, it worked flawlessly the entire duration of the upgrade! ! ! As soon as it was done and rebooted, I tried playing that video again and it did the black-screen / device searching every 3 seconds or so, as it always has. So, how can I reproduce the thing that the upgrade did?! [Bug 1969943] Re: System updates fail to complete.
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -> About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . [Bug 1969970] Re: ubuntu jammy 22.04 iso: unable to find a live file system on the network
I did a test run of this using the instructions from https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/netbooting-the-live-server- installer/14510 and things look good to me. Would you also try that and let us know? My mailserver is down. I had to create a temporary mail just to create this account to report this ticket. So, this is on Ubuntu 22.04, with opensmtpd 6.8.0p2-4build1. [Bug 1969959] Re: Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)
the try ubuntu screen is fine. after booted to desktop for a split second the screen colors are normal and then BAM i get an almost all white screen i have tested with 2 systems and 2 video cards. intel b660 + 12600k nvidia 3060 ti amd x570 + 5600x nvidia 3060 ti both systems have same behavior. i am pretty sure this started happening with the ubuntu 22.04 daily after 03-28-2022 but not 100% sure i reported it over and over in the #ubuntu #ubuntu-next for 3 weeks and warned everyone repeatably. i tried to get other people to verify with similar systems and while doing that i got silenced where i couldnt talk and i got kicked out #ubuntu-next. they told me to report the bug but i first wanted to make sure it was happening on other peoples systems and i was in the process of that very thing when i got silenced. it is very clear that there are some people there who dont like nvidia. i would like to add that it is fine while using a nvidia 1060. thanks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969959 Title: Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1969959/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1969970] Re: ubuntu jammy 22.04 iso: unable to find a live file system on the network
Would you confirm that the sha256 sum of the iso matches https://releases.ubuntu.com/22.04/SHA256SUMS ? I'm getting different results for the above commands. The UUID there makes it look like you have a 2-month out of date iso. Thanks! # lsblk /dev/loop17 -J -O | jq '.blockdevices[0] | .label, .uuid' "Ubuntu-Server 22.04 LTS amd64" "2022-04-21-06-14-25-00" # cat .disk/casper-uuid-generic ba2335f2-81b6-46b2-a037-549fe52a8261 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969970 Title: ubuntu jammy 22.04 iso: unable to find a live file system on the network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1969970/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
