[Bug 1970292] Re: ubuntu failed upgrade from 21.10 to 22.04
Reviewing the log file, /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log, from your upgrade attempt there was a failure to communicate with the mirror of the Ubuntu archive which you use. This could either be due to an issue with your connection to the mirror or with the mirror itself. Regardless, this is an issue you'll need to sort out by fixing your network connection or switching to a different mirror of the Ubuntu archive before the upgrade can complete. If after resolving the communication error with the mirror you are still unable to upgrade to a new release of Ubuntu please open a new bug report so we'll have fresh log files. [Bug 1970018] Re: Cannot upgrade to ubuntu 21.10 from ubuntu 20.04.
It is not sufficient to just disable the "Other software" as you will still have package version from other repositories, like the deadsnakes PPA, which may provide package versions greater than the release to which you are upgrading. Subsequently, you'll need to reenable the other software sources and then use the tool ppa-purge to remove packages from PPAs. ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970018 Title: Cannot upgrade to ubuntu 21.10 from ubuntu 20.04. [Bug 1970076] Re: "User process fault: interruption code 0011 ilc:3" on SSH client/server upon Jammy upgrade
I only have one s390x guest and adding another would be painful due to the slowness of its emulation :) but I have just tried removing all of /etc/ssh and reinstalling openssh-client/openssh-server, same crash. To be clear, this is only happening on my s390x guest. I have a few other non-x86 qemu guests (arm64, ppc64el, riscv64, etc) which have also been upgraded to jammy, none of which have this problem. So I'm willing to bet this is more of a kernel or qemu problem and that openssh is just a symptom. (Though it seems to be a recurring indicative symptom... ISTR openssh segfaults during the bootstrap of riscv64 on qemu; William Grant may be able to chime in.) I've attached my libvirt definition in case it's relevant, but it's pretty standard. ** Attachment added: "s390x-dev.xml" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1970076/+attachment/5584015/+files/s390x-dev.xml -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970076 Title: "User process fault: interruption code 0011 ilc:3" on SSH client/server upon Jammy upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1970076/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1965241] Re: Include DPC Fixes in Ubuntu 22.04 and 20.04
Michael, We tried the test kernel from comment #5. From the sanity tests, basic functionality works as expected - On a system where NVMe end point is connected to root port, 1. When an EDR event occurs, the link is contained and system does not crash. 2. The config space of NVMe end point device is restored. The DPC functionality does not work as expected if CONFIG_PCIE_EDR is not enabled. Test Case: 1. Disable the memory space of NVMe end point device 2. Issue IO to the device 3. Observe dmesg. dmesg shows that EDR event is generated, link is contained and NVMe device is recovered. 2. [Bug 1970390] Re: nginx install error on Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS
YOu're welcome, that's the workaround for these cases. Note that this exact issue was 'discussed' back in 2015 by the upstream Debian team and they rejected changing it because IPv6 being disabled is "non-standard", and a user/admin level decision at the endpoints of things, so when anything 'non-standard' happens it needs to be handled by those admins with workarounds. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=779825#97 ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #779825 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=779825 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970390 Title: nginx install error on Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1970390/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1743592] Re: NGINX fails to start/install/upgrade if IPv6 is completely disabled.
This is a pretty old issue but in Debian they made a decision to not accomodate this back in 2015 for when IPv6 is disabled on systems on the basis of "not only is it non-standard but it's nonsensical": https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=779825#97 The workaround for this is when dpkg or apt fail is to edit /etc/nginx/sites-available/default, remove the IPv6 listen line, and then run `apt install -f` - this can even be automated too. Automation tooling that is not able to do this is the fault of the tooling. I'm going to close this as 'won't fix' because there's really no actions needed by the teams here. And this has sat without any activity for over a year. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #779825 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=779825 ** Changed in: nginx (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1743592 Title: NGINX fails to start/install/upgrade if IPv6 is completely disabled. [Bug 1970000]
[Bug 1747499] Re: 98-reboot-required and Interaction with livepatch
** Description changed: + + [Impact] + + * If a system is using canonical livepatch, has it enabled, and patches + are applied, it could be confusing for a user to receive a "system + restart required" messages in the MOTD when logging in. + + * Livepatch is available on LTS releases. Thus, the users can be + confused following a kernel update on 20.04. + + * The upload prevents update-notifier and unattended-ugprades hooks from adding "system restart"-related messages to motd when Livepatch is enabled. + Livepatch, when enabled, already contributes to the motd message so there is no need to have duplicate (and sometimes contradictory) information. + + [Test Plan] + + * how to reproduce the bug: + +1. Install and boot a 20.04 server VM +2. Make sure it runs a generic kernel (or another flavour that supports Livepatch) +3. Enable Livepatch using the following command: +$ ua attach # replace by an actual contract token +4. Upgrade the kernel (if you are already running the latest available kernel update, you can install a different flavour) +5. Upon logging in again, the motd will show ***System restart required***. + + * other testing appropriate to perform before landing this update: + + * Making sure that the patch has no impact when livepatch is not enabled. + * The motd should show ***System restart required*** after upgrading the kernel if livepatch is not enabled. + + [Where problems could occur] + + * The change updates a hook script in /etc/kernel/postinst.d/. Scripts + in this directory are executing when upgrading / installing a kernel. If + somehow the script is broken, it can prevent dpkg for succeeding when + upgrading / installing the kernel. + + * If the implementation is wrong, we might end up "losing" the + ***System restart required*** message when livepatch is disabled + + [Original bug description] + If a system is using canonical livepatch, has it enabled, and patches are applied, it could be confusing for a user to receive a "system restart required" messages in the MOTD when logging in. That message, when present, is printed by 98-reboot-required which essentially just cats /var/run/reboot-required to stdout. That file is placed by packages that require a reboot so that they are properly used in their updated versions. Examples that come to mind are libc and the kernel. There is a secondary file that can be created which says which packages requested the reboot. That would be /var/run/reboot-required.pkgs Ideally that script should not print out the reboot required message if a) livepatch is installed and enabled; b) the only trigger for the reboot is a kernel update. For (a), one can use the command "ubuntu-advantage is-livepatch-enabled" and check $?. [Bug 1970455] [NEW] AppArmor profile prevents DNS Servers from being added to resolv.conf
Public bug reported: Currently the AppArmor profile for strongswan prevents vpn connections that use ipsec mode config from adding dns settings the client gets from the vpn gateway to the /etc/resolv.conf. This is because it has the settings for resolving but this is only readonly. It is missing the write permission to /etc/resolv.conf. This is an old bug that was reported on debian in 2018 already: https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg1645350.html One can fix it by adding the required line to the apparmor profile and restart apparmor afterwards. I know there is other solutions like modifying network-manager config to not overwrite resolv.conf or using the resolvonf package and I did try various but none of them worked like it was supposed to. [Bug 1970390] Re: nginx install error on Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS
CentOS uses completely different packaging than Debian. The problem here is that the Debian and Ubuntu developers of NGINX decided to support "the most common setups" - the Debian and thus Ubuntu default configurations ship both IPv4 and IPv6 support. You can fix this by changing the `/etc/nginx/sites-available/default` listener and remove the IPv6 line and then running `apt install -f` and it should properly finish configuring it. Remember this: When comparing Debian/Ubuntu to non-Debian/Ubuntu **the packages are different and wildly so** so you cannot compare CentOS to Debian/Ubuntu and vice versa for 'default functionality'. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970390 Title: nginx install error on Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1970390/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1965819] Related fix merged to neutron (stable/wallaby)
Reviewed: https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/neutron/+/838784 Committed: https://opendev.org/openstack/neutron/commit/58288d1795b1e2b30bb4df6abca4a768020bb2ff Submitter: "Zuul (22348)" Branch:stable/wallaby commit 58288d1795b1e2b30bb4df6abca4a768020bb2ff Author: Terry Wilson Date: Tue Mar 22 04:12:08 2022 + Fix setting table monitoring conditions After the monitor_cond_since/update3 support patch in ovs (46d44cf3be0), directly setting table.condition is broken. This isn't something that was every truly supported. Prior to that patch, using Idl.cond_change() before a connection was made did not work, but after that patch it does. This patch uses the old behavior when the OVS library does not have the ConditionState object, and uses cond_change() otherwise. [Bug 1970390] Re: nginx install error on Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS
Hello Simon, Thanks for the attention. What is your opinion about this: dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of nginx: nginx depends on nginx-core (<< 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3.1~) | nginx-full (<< 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3.1~) | nginx-light (<< 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3.1~) | nginx-extras (<< 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3.1~); however: Package nginx-core is not configured yet. Package nginx-full is not installed. Package nginx-light is not installed. Package nginx-extras is not installed. nginx depends on nginx-core (>= 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3) | nginx-full (>= 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3) | nginx-light (>= 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3) | nginx-extras (>= 1.18.0-0ubuntu1.3); however: Package nginx-core is not configured yet. Package nginx-full is not installed. Package nginx-light is not installed. Package nginx-extras is not installed. dpkg: error processing package nginx (--configure): dependency problems - leaving unconfigured The package configuration process is before the service start. The IPv6 disabled is - by my opinion - is not a cause. [Bug 1970451] [NEW] Update to the 510.68.02 UDA NVIDIA driver series in Bionic, Focal, Impish, and Jammy
Public bug reported: [Impact] These releases provide both bug fixes and new features, and we would like to make sure all of our users have access to these improvements. See the changelog entry below for a full list of changes and bugs. [Test Case] The following development and SRU process was followed: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NVidiaUpdates Certification test suite must pass on a range of hardware: https://git.launchpad.net/plainbox-provider-sru/tree/units/sru.pxu The QA team that executed the tests will be in charge of attaching the artifacts and console output of the appropriate run to the bug. nVidia maintainers team members will not mark ‘verification-done’ until this has happened. [Regression Potential] In order to mitigate the regression potential, the results of the aforementioned system level tests are attached to this bug. [Bug 1958770] Re: Aquantia GbE LAN driver causes UBSAN error during kernel boot
Just a couple of other suggestions. You can generate a patch file from the upstream kernel repo. eg cd linux-jammy curl https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/8d3a6c37d50d5a0504c126c932cc749e6dd9c78f.patch -o ./atlantic.patch git diff git apply ./atlantic.patch git diff I was wrong about printf. You need to use printk printk(KERN_INFO "HERE!\n"); I expect printk just will work although you might need to "#include " -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958770 Title: Aquantia GbE LAN driver causes UBSAN error during kernel boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1958770/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
