### Old Ubuntu Delta ###

bind9 (1:9.18.1-1ubuntu1) jammy; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #1965981). Remaining changes:
- Don't build dnstap as it depends on universe packages:
  + d/control: drop build-depends on libfstrm-dev, libprotobuf-c-dev and
protobuf-c-compiler (universe packages)
  + d/dnsutils.install: don't install dnstap
  + d/libdns1104.symbols: don't include dnstap symbols
  + d/rules: don't build dnstap nor install dnstap.proto
- Add back apport:
+ d/bind9.apport: add back old bind9 apport hook, but without calling
attach_conffiles() since that is already done by apport itself, with
confirmation from the user.
  + d/control, d/rules: build-depends on dh-apport and use it
- d/NEWS: mention some of the bigger changes in 9.16.0 packaging
- d/bind9.named.service: use systemd Type=forking to signal daemon init.
This fixes a regression of #900788 where services whose startup depend
on name resolutions may fail due to bind9 not being ready (LP #1899902).
- d/control: remove optional libjemalloc-dev Build-Depends as it is not in
  main.
- d/NEWS: mention some of the relevant changes in 9.18.0 packaging
or functionality that may affect usability.
  * Dropped changes:
- d/p/0003-Remove-spurious-debugging-true.patch: remove development leftover
debugging flag from nslookup code (LP: #1961556).
  [ Incorporated in 9.18.

[Bug 1969140] Re: Window minimize animation flickers and appears in the wrong place in Xorg sessions

2022-05-02 Thread Eugene
With the extension disabled, there are no problems on both kernels
(5.15.0-27-generic and 5.17.5-051705-generic) in the case of the wayland
session.

After enabling and updating (I'm not sure if the extension has been
updated, but I tried updating it on the page extensions.gnome.org) the
extension, the problem disappeared also on the 5.15.0-27-generic kernel.

[Bug 1971242] [NEW] printing PDF appears always grey, no color

2022-05-02 Thread dm
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS I can't print colored PDF
document. The print appears always b/w regardless color printing was
enabled or not. Printing from LibreOffice produces a color print. This
behavior (bug) is reproducible on three upgraded machines. It would be
nice to have color print back again.

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

"gdm3" is not usually an Nvidia issue so does not usually require the

Re: [Bug 1971146] Re: [radeon] Pictures including wallpaper not showing

2022-05-02 Thread Mícheál Na bPíob
If I boot into recovery mode then click normal boot the desktop appears,
every time. Kernel 5.17.5-051705-generic

If I just do a normal boot the desktop appears maybe 1 in out of every
20 reboots, same kernel.

Mick

[Bug 1971232] [NEW] [Dell XPS 8940] [ALC3861] No audio from headset mic when plugged into front panel jack, works under Windows

2022-05-02 Thread Jonathan Yip
Public bug reported:

There is no audio coming from the headset mic when plugged into the
front panel headset jack (bog standard wired headphones with mic, Sony
MDR-EX15AP). Upon plugging in Gnome should offer a choice of "Headset"
amongst others, but the only ones available are "Headphones" and
"Microphone", neither of which enables the mic on the headset. The same
headset works under Windows, so it shouldn't be an issue of mismatching
TRRS.

I'm happy to provide any further details if needed.

[Bug 1968929] Re: Missing Wayland login option on NVIDIA systems

2022-05-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Jesse,

It's complicated. There were too many intermediate versions (with
additional important fixes like bug 1969097) in between to roll back
over. The person in charge of that package does not have Nvidia hardware
to test with either. Also this all happened only hours before the
release so we had to move quickly. Rolling back was never really an
option.

Please report a new bug for your "lock ups" if that's a problem.

As for the Night Light issue you mention, please create an additional
new bug about it. It might be specific to Nvidia on Wayland
(https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/290), or it might be
specific to Intel 12th gen chips (bug 1967274), or it might be something
else... I'm not aware of Night Light regressing in any case, unless you
count the change from X11 to Wayland.

P.S. You may also be interested in tracking the list of nvidia-wayland
bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.tag=nvidia-wayland

Great to hear.

Additional logs certainly won't help if it's working now. But if you
have the patience then finding out what version number exactly fixed it
would help. Or what kernel version was the last to have the bug, keeping
in mind the broken kernel was (roughly) upstream version 5.15.30

[Bug 1968929] Re: Missing Wayland login option on NVIDIA systems

2022-05-02 Thread Jesse Johnson
Night Light was previously working on my hybrid Nvidia laptop before the
recent changes that switched Wayland to X11. I manually switched back to
Wayland, but now Night Light is not working.

Why are the changes that caused these bugs not being rolled back?

[Bug 1968929] Re: Missing Wayland login option on NVIDIA systems

2022-05-02 Thread Jesse Johnson
To clarify, all future installs with hybrid Nvidia graphics will now
default to Wayland? So users won't have to work around this issue by
manually selecting Wayland in the log in screen? Cannot expect the
average user to figure this out.

I am unclear why this bug was not rolled back once it was identified,
and a fix that doesn't require manual intervention later released? Does
the package release system not support rollbacks?

My experience:

Have a hybrid Nvidia laptop. After updating and rebooting, suddenly
sleep caused laptop to lock up into a black screen requiring reboot, so
effectively the laptop could not be used as a laptop. Upgraded to gdm3
42.0-1ubuntu7, which defaulted to X11 after reboot, had to log out and
manually select Wayland which fixed suspend. Wayland selection persisted
between reboots.

Note that the version number in the focal diff is wrong; focal already
has 0.9.2-2ubuntu1, so needs to have a version number that sorts later
than this such as 0.9.2-2ubuntu1.1.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Update_the_packaging
provides recommendations for the version schema to use for SRUs.

[Bug 1971214] Re: archive is missing dsc index

2022-05-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1971214/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

Title:
External monitor display pink coloration in grayscale (HDMI)

Status in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Two days ago I upgraded to 22.04 LTS.
My laptop display works fine but my external monitor(HDMI port) has strong
pink coloration in grey scale / white areas of display. I put up a picture of a
NTSC colorbars. On the laptop display it is correct. When I slide it to the
external monitor it has distinct pink color in the 70% grey scale bar.The white
bar is correct as are the cyan, blue , yellow, red, etc. The pluge (program
lineup guide) black bars display correctly, thus no contrast problem. The only
visible problem is the pink in the 70% bars.
I suspected the monitor might be at fault, but I rebooted into my Windblows
11 (dual boot) both displays were again correct, as they had been in Ubuntu
until the Upgrade to 22.04.

That is the extent of by ability to analyze the problem. I suspect
