Can't. I fixed the typo.

Nothing remarkable in journalctl...

And it's a bit random: some subfolders I can download to. Others not.
Permissions/ownership are the same.

2022-05-05 Thread Trogdor
** Description changed:

  Affecting Chrome, Chromium, Firefox, Brave, Vivaldi

- Files can reliably be downloaded to any folder except ~/downloads and
- /tmp.

+ and /tmp.

  Ubuntu 22.04

  Chrome installed from .deb, Brave installed from repos. Firefox and

[Bug 1971608] Re: Firefox PDF font rendering is often messed up

2022-05-05 Thread Rahul
Thank you for changing the "invalid" status. Here is the upstream bug
report https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1767925

Since it is not seen by mint users I am guessing it is an issue with
snap.

I just updated to firefox 100 (ubuntu snap), the bug remains.

[Bug 1970270] Re: LibreOffice localization is not working out of the box

2022-05-05 Thread Aaron Rainbolt
Pinpointed the Calamares bug:
https://github.com/calamares/calamares/issues/1942 Once this is fixed,
the fix in comment #4 ought to resolve this bug.

I also discovered that my /dev/null errors in comment #5 were due to the
fact that I didn't know what I was doing with chroots, so you can
probably ignore that part of comment #5.

[Bug 1971769] Re: Cheese not running on ubuntu 22.04 Wayland

2022-05-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

The "Native Windows taller than 65535 pixels are not supported" message
seems to have been occurring in cheese and totem bug reports for several
years already, according to a search of my email. So I don't think
that's the cause here.

This bug should be about "Error reading events from display: Protocol
error". See also bug 1965563.

[Bug 1971704] Re: Wayland/Gnome Shell freezes propably on displaying Gnome Setting

2022-05-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please also check for crashes:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:

   ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash

   Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

[Bug 1971907] [NEW] QGIS 3.22.4 from the Jammy won't install

2022-05-05 Thread Kevin Havener
Public bug reported:

Installation of qgis 3.22.4 fails in post install configure on jammy.
The qgis-providers package seems to be the problem. The only meaningful
info I got was an error from synaptic claiming a name was missing from a
package file. apt only gave a generic 127 error.

Don't be misled by the 3rd party app. The initial install attempt was
from a jammy repository that was not disabled on upgrade.

I have also tried the 3.24 package from qgis.org. It fails in exactly
the same manner. QGIS 3.22.4 installed and worked just fine on impish.
Actually, so did 3.24.1 from qgis.org.

[Bug 1971905] [NEW] md5check should cancel itself on slow storage

2022-05-05 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Public bug reported:

We have a bunch of bug reports about cloud-init not completing within 10
minutes when the installer media is mounted as a virtual ISO/image and
adding 'fsck.mode=skip' the command line usually helps.

We could instrument casper-md5check to monitor how long it is taking or
just have a timer (I guess we could add TimeoutSec= to the service file
but it would be nice to report this in the json file somehow).

[Bug 1971901] [NEW] dlltool uses non-unique temp filenames

2022-05-05 Thread Kevin Puetz
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Release:22.04

binutils-mingw-w64-x86-64 2.38-3ubuntu1+9build1

/usr/bin/x86_64-w64-mingw32-dlltool now encounters errors like

tools/winebuild/winebuild -b x86_64-w64-mingw32 -w --implib -o
dlls/winmm/libwinmm.delay.a --export \
  ../wine-6.0.4/dlls/winmm/winmm.spec
Assembler messages:
Error: can't open winmm_dll_t.s for reading: No such file or directory

/usr/bin/x86_64-w64-mingw32-dlltool: failed to open temporary tail file:

tools/winebuild/winebuild -b x86_64-w64-mingw32 -w --implib -o
dlls/winmm/libwinmm.cross.a --export \
  ../wine-6.0.4/dlls/winmm/winmm.spec

Due to dlltool using names like winmm_dll_t.s and winmm_dll_t.o for it's
temp file - these are not unique when building libwinmm.delay.a and
libwinmm.cross.a in parallel. (This can of course affect any dll wine is
building import libs for, winmm is just the one I happaned to get caught
on).

This is regression newly introduced in binutils 2.38 vs older versions
which used getpid() as the basis of their temp name. We just encountered
it as part of updating our CI for a winelib application from focal to
jammy, but it seems to have been discovered by others already: see
https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=28885

There is an upstream fix on master (2.39) which is already backported to
the binutils-2_38 branch:
https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=binutils-
gdb.git;h=99852365513266afdd793289813e8e565186c9e6, so it should just be
a matter of cherry-picking. Hopefully the fact it's a regression from
impish->jammy and that upstream already backported it to 2.38 might make
this a candidate for jammy-updates?

[Bug 1951075] Re: Nautilus doesn't load and gives GVFS-WARNING

2022-05-05 Thread Joshua Robison
I get this error when Atom crashes.

Just a bunch of "this is deprecated"
"
/usr/bin/atom: line 195: 16065 Killed  nohup "$ATOM_PATH"
--executed-from="$(pwd)" --pid=$$ "$@" > "$ATOM_HOME/nohup.out" 2>&1

'/usr/share/atom/resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/superstring/build/Release/superstring.node'.

"

Atom not opening my project folder was what led me to realize that
Nautilus was also not opening.

[Bug 1951075] Re: Nautilus doesn't load and gives GVFS-WARNING

2022-05-05 Thread Joshua Robison
I have exactly the same issue but keybase is not installed on my system.
I am running stock Ubuntu 22.04 .
This issue happened after I did apt dist-upgrade a couple of days ago (May
4th?).
I upgraded my system to 22.04 from 21.10 when 22.04 was publicly released.
I used the software-updater to do the upgrade.
Since then I had not had any issues at all.
This issue only started after my apt dist-upgrade on around May 4th.
Due to this issue I cannot run Atom as well.

Note that "Connection timed out" is an error at the TCP level, that
indicates that your computer wasn't able to establish a TCP session. ssh's
algorithm choices aren't involved yet.

Are you sure this machine can communicate with 140.82.121.4:22 at all?

$ nc 140.82.112.4 22
SSH-2.0-babeld-78a8149e

Thanks

[Bug 1971895] Re: Warning messages from stat printed on installation with no user crontabs

2022-05-05 Thread Jeremy Chadwick
I was just in the process of writing David Fernandez Gonzalez an Email
about this problem when I came across this ticket.

I can confirm this problem on Ubuntu 18.04.6. My 20.x machines did not
get the update, so I cannot verify on other releases:

Unpacking cron (3.0pl1-128.1ubuntu1.1) over (3.0pl1-128.1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up cron (3.0pl1-128.1ubuntu1.1) ...
stat: cannot stat '*': No such file or directory
stat: cannot stat '*': No such file or directory
stat: cannot stat '*': No such file or directory
Warning: * is not a regular file!

Every single sysadmin should be concerned. ANY TIME we see asterisk
wildcards being used in this fashion, where [ or test operators are
behaving in this manner, we have reason to become concerned. To me,
this smells of a shell script trying to parse crontab entries, which is
inherently dangerous.

I am now questioning whether or not this postinst script potentially
nuked something it shouldn't have.

How this was missed is beyond me.

[Bug 1968228] Re: RTD collision with opcache

2022-05-05 Thread Athos Ribeiro
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ As explained in https://www.php.net/manual/en/intro.opcache.php,
+
+ OPcache improves PHP performance by storing precompiled bytecode in shared
memory, removing the need to load and parse scripts on each request.
+
+ A bug in PHP OPcache code (https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=79603) may
+ make PHP crash when this feature is enabled. For instance, this has been
+ observed with Symfony's caching feature.
+
+ The fix is available upstream at https://github.com/php/php-
+ src/commit/4f47ba99f002d50e11c111b8625d81f79b2bf52f
+

[Bug 1971895] [NEW] Warning messages from stat printed on installation with no user crontabs

2022-05-05 Thread Andrew Ruthven
Public bug reported:

On installation of cron on a new system, or (I expect) an upgrade with
no user crontab files the following is printed:

Setting up cron (3.0pl1-128.1ubuntu1.1) ...
stat: cannot stat '*': No such file or directory
stat: cannot stat '*': No such file or directory
stat: cannot stat '*': No such file or directory
Warning: * is not a regular file!

This is related to the fix for CVE-2017-9525 introduced in
3.0pl1-128.1ubuntu1.1. The for loop at line 66 of cron.postinst needs to
have a guard like the following added to it:

[ "$tab_name" = "*" ] && continue

We have observed this with Bionic, I haven't checked any other Ubuntu
releases.

Cheers,
Andrew

+ Debian:   1.0.8-4
  Ubuntu:   1.0.8-4ubuntu3

  Debian typically updates bcache-tools every 13 months on average, but it
  was last updated 20.05 and looks overdue. Check back in on this
  monthly.

+ Upstream's last tagged release was 7 years ago
+ (https://evilpiepirate.org/git/bcache-tools.git) and the last commit to
+ the master branch was 4 years ago, and next activity was 4 years prior
+ to that. So it should not be expected that we'd see a new upstream
+ release this cycle.

[Bug 1971630] Re: shaded windows forget their height on restore

2022-05-05 Thread Gordon Lack
I've worked out what the issue is!

This bug occurs if you try to set a Window border size (any size, other
than none) for Breeze.

This is Settings under Appearance -> Window Decorations/ Window border
size (bottom left).

Setting a border size for Plastik (which has one by default anyway) is
OK.

But Breeze (default none) doesn't like you setting any.
I set Tiny, as otherwise overlapping window just merge into one another with no
dividing line.

[Bug 1971576] Re: SATA device hot plug regression on AMD EYPC (Asus) server

2022-05-05 Thread Khaled El Mously
Hello @zhanglei-mao thanks for creating the bug report.

There is a large time difference between those 5.4 kernels. 5.4.0-42 is
from June 2020 and 5.4.0-109 is very recent. Is it possible to find out
the first non-working 5.4 kernel? We would need to do a bisect.

Do you think you might be able to test the 5.4.0-75 kernel to try to
reproduce this problem?

Thanks.

[Bug 1971888] [NEW] Can not ssh to github.com or gitlab.com when upgrading to 22.04

2022-05-05 Thread Alvaro
Public bug reported:

Dear all,

After the upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04 I can not use git over ssh.

The best way to reproduce the error is:

```
acs@lsp-022:~$ ssh -vT g...@github.com
OpenSSH_8.9p1 Ubuntu-3, OpenSSL 3.0.2 15 Mar 2022
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 19: include /etc/ssh/ssh_config.d/*.conf
matched no files
debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 21: Applying options for *
debug1: Connecting to github.com [140.82.121.4] port 22.
debug1: connect to address 140.82.121.4 port 22: Connection timed out
```

Before the upgrading I can connect correctly with:

```
ssh -vT g...@github.com
OpenSSH_8.2p1 Ubuntu-4ubuntu0.4, OpenSSL 1.1.1f  31 Mar 2020
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 21: include /etc/ssh/ssh_config.d/*.conf
matched no files
debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 23: Applying options for *
debug1: Connecting to github.com [140.82.121.4] port 22.
debug1: Connection established
```

The same issue is happening with gitlab.com.

Probably it is related with the OpenSSL version.

Cheers!

[Bug 1915910] Re: evince does not print (apparmor, pxgsettings)

2022-05-05 Thread Etienne URBAH
Same issue with evince 42.1-3 and apparmor 3.0.4-2ubuntu2 on cinnamon
5.2.7-4 from Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy Jellyfish)

The apparmor workaround fixes it for me. Thanks Karsten.

no news on this? I would've actually classified this as an LTS
stopper... one of those non-critical but majorly annoying user-facing
snafus.. :)
