[Bug 1972086] [NEW] Ubuntu LVM + LUKS does not shut down properly

2022-05-07 Thread fcestrada
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm having an issue with Ubuntu 22.04 on a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 4th
generation. After a clean install choosing to encrypt my full disk, when
I turn off the laptop, it does not shut down properly, so I have to
press the power button during 5 seconds to turn it off and then I can
turn it on again.

I was looking for information regarding this bug, but unfortunately I
couldn't find a solution yet, so any extra information do you need, do
not hesitate to ask.

Best Regards,

[Bug 1972081] [NEW] Inconsistent display of the right panel view when using symlink for ~/Pictures?

2022-05-07 Thread Daniel LaSalle
Public bug reported:

1)
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Release:22.04

2)
$ apt-cache policy caja
caja:
  Installed: 1.26.0-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.26.0-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1.26.0-1ubuntu1 500
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3+4)
I have had this problem for since at least 20.04 now: when customizing the
listing views of ~/Pictures, when view mode is defined by the folder, when
going back to parent folder the view is totally messed up.

Example:
~/Pictures = "Icon view"
~/Pictures/2022 = "List view"
when accessing Pictures and then 2022, going back to Pictures will sometimes
display wrongly (see attached)

NB: I am uncertain if this is because of what I have just mentioned or
because my ~/Pictures is actually a soft symbolic link pointing over my
router but if I remember correctly this started happening kind at that
period.

Refreshing/F5 the messed up display will of course result in it
displaying as intended.

[Bug 1972079] [NEW] Switching "High Contrast" on and off, doesn't revert to the previous GTK+ theme

2022-05-07 Thread nomike
Public bug reported:

I used to use the "Adwaita-dark" GTK+ theme.
I now opened gnome settings and enabled the "High Contrast" option in the
Accessibility settings.

This changed the theme to "HighContrast" as expected.

When I disabled the "High Contrast" option though, the theme was set to
"Adwaita".

I can switch back and forth between "HighContrast" and "Adwaita" now,
but I

There doesn't seem to be an option in gnome-settings to change the
theme, so I'm stuck with this now.

I tried changing the theme in gnome-tweaks, but this only allows me to
set the theme for legacy apps.

[Bug 1972077] Re: cursor sizes "larger" and "largest" are as big as "large"

2022-05-07 Thread nomike
I just closed the settings dialog and as soon as I did, the cursor went to
being extra large.
Since then it behaves as it should and I was not able to reproduce the issue.

Unless someone else finds a way to reproduce the issue, I guess you
could close this bug again.

[Bug 1972077] [NEW] cursor sizes "larger" and "largest" are as big as "large"

2022-05-07 Thread nomike
Public bug reported:

If you set the cursor size to "larger" or "largest" in the accessibility
options, it is as large as "large" and doesn't get any larger, despite
the clickable images in the popup-dialog showing larger cursors for the
different options.

[Bug 1971987] Re: On release upgrade, Snaps don't change channel

2022-05-07 Thread motang
I can confirm on my system that I never changed the channel. It was
always on stable branch and did a dist-upgrade, at which that channel
was kept at 21.10 and did not get changed over to 22.04. I had to do
this manually which was yesterday.

Another example of this 'snap' problem relative to a try for 'chromium',
ending in an "unwritable /var/lib/snapd/hostfs/writable"?

~/HD-GDU3/odoncaoa/Documents/Info/Notes/Systems/Ux/TUFfx705DU/Admin 2022-05-07

   - Run configure hook of "chromium" snap if present (run hook "configure":
cannot perform operation: mount --make-rprivate /var/lib/snapd/hostfs/writable:

Here's the 'syslog' applicable of the activity involved.

[Bug 1972075] [NEW] Blank screen when viewing GL-accelerated virtio screen on 22.04

2022-05-07 Thread Max Goodman
Public bug reported:

Also filed upstream:
https://gitlab.com/libvirt/libvirt/-/merge_requests/151

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 21.10 to 22.04. I have an existing VM
with virtio video and gl-accelerated Spice display which previously
worked.

After the upgrade, virt-manager and virt-viewer display a blank screen.
In the qemu libvirt logs, I observe many repetitions of:

qemu_spice_gl_scanout_texture: failed to get fd for texture

dmesg contains these AppArmor errors:

[250001.100362] audit: type=1400 audit(1651958128.696:706): apparmor="DENIED"
operation="open" profile="libvirt-98a090a8-2fdf-463c-959b-810e5bc88b0d"
name="/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/revision" pid=132725
comm="qemu-system-x86" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=64055 ouid=0
[250001.100367] audit: type=1400 audit(1651958128.696:707): apparmor="DENIED"
operation="open" profile="libvirt-98a090a8-2fdf-463c-959b-810e5bc88b0d"

comm="qemu-system-x86" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=64055 ouid=0

Modifying the AppArmor config for this VM to permit access to the
`revision` and `config` sysfs paths fixed this issue for me. The VM
display is visible and virgl is working. I was able to do so by adding
the following line:

"/sys/devices/**/{uevent,vendor,device,subsystem_vendor,subsystem_device,config,revision}"

After the upgrade, virt-manager and virt-viewer display a blank screen.
In the qemu libvirt logs, I observe many repetitions of:

- ```
qemu_spice_gl_scanout_texture: failed to get fd for texture
- ```

  dmesg contains these AppArmor errors:

- ```
  [250001.100362] audit: type=1400 audit(1651958128.696:706): apparmor="DENIED"

Modifying the AppArmor config for this VM to permit access to the
`revision` and `config` sysfs paths fixed this issue for me. The VM
display is visible and virgl is working.

[Bug 1971168]

2022-05-07 Thread Al Savage
I just upgraded Ubuntu from 21.10 to 22.04, and now Chrome (deb),
Thunderbird (snap), and FireFox (snap) will not open nor save to any
network drives (a home Ubuntu server); all of these apps read/saved to
the same server before the upgrade this afternoon. So, "me too", but
also it may not be limited to FF, snaps, or even Mozilla, since my
Chrome install behaves similarly.

[Bug 1972072] [NEW] Linux does not see Macbook 6,2 drives

2022-05-07 Thread Ted
Public bug reported:

As described in this ArchLinux bug report
(https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/72734), the kernel installed on upgrade
to 22.04 is unable to see the drives on a Macbook 6,2 model. Booting to
the 5.13 kernel allows access to the hard drive again--but with the
22.04 install, that version can no longer use the mouse or wireless. It
looks like there was a bug introduced upstream in one of the 5.15
kernels.

[Bug 1968722] Re: File fails to print when rendered with CUPS, prints fine when fed directly to printer

Yes, the print job in question works when I print it to the driverless printer.
I would not say that it is therefore reasonable to declare that this issue is
resolved, but *shrug* whatever.

indeed sound like this is an upstream OpenSSH bug that should be

swap mostly went well, but the 'Caps_Lock' button, now assigned w/'Control_L'
is a bit buggered. The swap was made, but it also inhereted 'Escape'.

[Bug 1971109] Re: [BPO] Backport opencpn 5.6.2 from Kinetic to Jammy

We still talk past each other.

I used the latest commit in your git branch, and applied that as a
debdiff against the kinetic source. But that commit, unlike your debdiff
attached in comment #7, does not include 0004-Build-Use-20.04-plugins-
on-22.04.patch.

Nope. You need to decide if 0004-Build-Use-20.04-plugins-on-22.04.patch
should be included or not.

[Bug 1971504] Re: Multiple vulnerabilities in Bionic, Focal, Impish, Jammy and Kinetic

2022-05-07 Thread Luís Cunha dos Reis Infante da Câmara
I have run the upstream test suite on Focal and Impish as follows:

$ git clone https://github.com/varnishcache/varnish-cache.git
$ git checkout varnish-$UPSTREAM_VERSION
$ cd bin/varnishtest
$ for i in tests/*; do if [ "$i" != tests/README ]; then varnishtest "$i"; fi;
done

In Focal all tests pass or are skipped. In Impish the same happens but
varnishd crashes twice in the first run, but no crashes occur on the
second run.

[Bug 1971109] Re: [BPO] Backport opencpn 5.6.2 from Kinetic to Jammy

2022-05-07 Thread Alec Leamas
My bad, sorry, still learning. It is not until now I understand the role
of the debdiff, that this is what you as sponsor upload.

These two debdiffs are basically the same thing compared to different
baselines. However, "my" diff is probably far easier to review being
much smaller. If this is reason enough to upload that instead is
something I cannot judge. Likewise, I don't know whether it is
acceptable to use such a diff in this context.

So, in the end, which diff to use is really something I must leave in
your hands.

Have still another backport one in my plans, kinetic -> focal. But I
waited to file this until I had been through this process once more.
Will not forget the debdiff next time, promise!

2022-05-07 Thread Little Girl
It also affects me in Kubuntu 22.04 in both Muon and Discover. A work-
around (besides the one mentioned above) is to open Settings --> System
Settings --> Driver Manager and put in the password when prompted. That
will open to the Drivers tab, but you can open any of the other tabs
from there.

Thank you, the proposed firmware has fixed Bluetooth on my Dell XPS 8700

I should notice, I had to recompile the kernel modules (btusb.ko and
ath3k.ko) to gain bluetooth stability (before, BT unhooking every 30
seconds... now steady connection).

[Bug 1939347] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 freeze since kernel 5.11

2022-05-07 Thread Nikolaos Chachampis
The kernel parameter

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i915.enable_dc=0"

seems to have finally done the trick for me. More details can be found
here: https://linuxreviews.org/Intel_graphics#Kernel_Parameters

However, could anyone explain why this wasn't needed in kernel 5.8? Is
it because the i915 driver is part of the kernel?

[Bug 1972051] Re: After upgrade to 22.04, screenshot shortcuts are re-enabled and cannot be disabled

2022-05-07 Thread Philipp
** Description changed:

I’ve upgraded from Ubuntu 21.10 to 22.04 using do-release-upgrade. After
the upgrade, I found that the screenshot shortcuts in Settings >
Keyboard > View and Customize Shortcuts > Screenshots were all enabled
even though I had previously disabled them. I don’t expect an OS upgrade
to undo settings I explicitly made.

It also doesn’t seem possible to disable these shortcuts. I’ve disabled
all of them, yet pressing “Print” (for example) still invokes the new
screenshot utility that was introduced in 22.04.

This is especially problematic because I have set-up custom screenshot
shortcuts to use Flameshot. These shortcuts don’t work anymore even
though they’re still shown in the Custom Shortcuts section.

Specifically, Print, Alt+Print, and Ctrl+Print are all hijacked by the
new screenshot utility with no way to prevent that.

+ Now, what actually happens is that no matter what’s set-up for these
+ shortcuts, pressing Print (for example) always shows the new screenshot
+ utility. After that, one can press Share which then seems to pass the
+ screenshotted area onto Flameshot? This is a superbly weird interaction
+ and I don’t want it.
+
(Note that it was not possible for me to identify the package
responsible for this because "ubuntu-bug -w" doesn’t seem to work on my
system because of something related to Wayland.)

[Bug 1972059] [NEW] One screen does not come back from lock

2022-05-07 Thread Andrea
Public bug reported:

I have 2 screen (Dell).
Since having upgraded to 22.04, one of them struggles to come back after a lock.

Sometimes takes a few seconds, sometimes it is ok and sometimes it takes longer.
I have found that if I do Ctrl-Alt-F1... the screen comes back.

I have a DP and HDMI cable and tried to switch them around, it is always
the same screen: a Dell U2415 UltraSharp 24.

Never happened with any other version since about 18.04.

[Bug 1857347] Re: [needs packaging] xchroot

2022-05-07 Thread estellnb
Xchroot 2.7.4-7 comes with many new features. Dbus session creation and
/dev/shm mounting satisfy the need even of exigent GUI programs like the
Otter browser. The new version has a /media and subdirectory automounter
which is especially useful for mirroring mounts of removable media. It
is even possible to run a whole desktop session like KDE, Gnome or Xfce
in an xchroot container. Desktop link creation for the GUI menu is
included. I would really like to see this program in Ubuntu! The desired
package includes an offline copy of https://www.elstel.org/xchroot/ as a
bonus which made it necessary to pack the xchroot source .tar along with
the offline copy of the web page into the .src.tar.gz.

[Bug 1972056] [NEW] [openssl3] please sync openssl.cnf to ease changing security level

2022-05-07 Thread Oibaf
Public bug reported:

openssl.cnf as provided misses some directive, which make it a bit
difficult to change security level, which since openssl 3 disables SHA1
signatures.

See also this Debian bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1010360 and the committed fix:
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/openssl/-/commit/b507914c40270e32cde6afcc8af93707c225e7f4

Can you please sync this change in Ubuntu openssl?

This way one should just add a single directive to change the security
level.

Thanks.

[Bug 1968144] Re: Appearance options not available in settings after upgrading from Ubuntu 21.10 to Ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-07 Thread Jeremy Bicha
GNOME's new Appearance panel is a feature from gnome-control-center 42
but Ubuntu 22.04 LTS includes gnome-control-center 41.

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS does have a similar Appearance panel but it's only
available for the Ubuntu session.

Make sure that ubuntu-desktop-minimal is installed. Open a terminal and
run this command:

sudo apt install ubuntu-desktop-minimal

Log out. On the login screen, select your name. Click the gear button in
the bottom right of the screen and choose 'Ubuntu'. Enter your password

2022-05-07 Thread Maia Everett
Attaching debdiff with a minimal fix. Verified to fix the bug on my
machine and to build correctly in pbuilder against current jammy.

In kinetic, 4.5.0-1, containing the fix, has been auto-synced from
Debian, so nothing needs to be done there.

[Bug 955675] Re: openssl s_client's '-ssl2' option no longer works in 12.04

2022-05-07 Thread Oibaf
This was already replied by Seth Arnold.

Additionally, what was missing was "to remove '-ssl2' from the usage
string and man pages". This is also already done (checked on both
20.04/focal and 22.04/jammy).
