[Bug 1972080] Re: [mgag200] Mouse cursor is a semi-opaque white square

2022-05-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Also using the wrong (or no) cursor theme won't cause "a semi-opaque
white square".

Please try adding:

  MUTTER_DEBUG_DISABLE_HW_CURSORS=1

to /etc/environment and reboot.

The login screen is a gnome-shell process which is themed by Yaru. It
_should_ be using the Yaru cursor theme too.

Your log also suggests you are experiencing bug 1967274 so you might be
better off using the 'nomodeset' kernel parameter until that fix is
released.

2022-05-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The same kind of bug has now been seen in:

  * i915: Intel Alder Lake GPUs
  * vboxvideo: Legacy non-default graphics VirtualBox controllers
  * mgag200: Matrox server graphics

In all three cases we need the fix coming in mutter 42.1, but Intel
Alder Lake would be better addressed with a kernel fix mentioned above.

[Bug 1972080] Re: [mgag200] Mouse cursor is a semi-opaque white square

2022-05-08 Thread Jon LaBadie
The reported problem is during login, not after successful login.
I don't think mutter configuration has any effect before graphical login.

Ubuntu's cursor theme may come from 'yaru-theme-icon', but does gdm's?

Two files affect the observed condition:

/usr/share/icons/Adwaita/cursors/left_ptr
/usr/share/icons/Adwaita/cursors/xterm

These come from the package 'adwaita-theme-icon-full'. If the package is not
installed I have no login screen mouse pointer. Install the package and the
pointer appears. Leave the package installed and deleted the two above files
and the pointer is gone.

[Bug 1972130] Re: saveas switches to search option when changing name

2022-05-08 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

You filed the issue as related to the `do-release-upgrade` that upgraded
you to 22.04 ~9 days before; once you've rebooted & logged into the new
system, the ubuntu-release-upgrade tool's job was completed
successfully. You also mention two non-Ubuntu products which should
have bugs filed elsewhere (vivaldi, chrome). I suggest support. (FYI:
Ubuntu Unity support is mostly on telegram (it's an unofficial remix);
refer https://ubuntuunity.org/ )

** Description changed:

If some software is installed as a snap and as a package, then search
feature will show two icons without any distinction between them. The
same text, the same icon, there is no context menu info.

I think there should be at least something like: when the mouse cursor
- is over the icon (or the icon is active), below the search input path to
- executable file should display.
+ is over the icon (or the icon is active), the path to the executable

[Bug 1967924] Re: re-apply missing overlayfs SAUCE patch

2022-05-08 Thread Andrea Righi
@mihalicyn Yes, this patch without AUFS enabled doesn't introduce any
problem, but that's because without AUFS the patch is basically a no-op.

Here's the ported patch that was applied to 5.15:
https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/focal/commit/?h=hwe-5.15-next&id=e3e60b65fa4db4722bd4b02a9dae58f7ff5d83d2

It'd be great if you could take a look and see if you spot any obvious
bugs. I'll do more tests later today, trying to better figure out the
real issue here.

Thanks. These are reported by our OEM customers, and (IMO more
importantly) is visible during installation, so it has certain kind of
priority here.

I am trying to do the part in Traditional Chinese translations

[Bug 1971704] Re: Wayland/Gnome Shell freezes propably on displaying Gnome Setting

2022-05-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. The log in comment #7 shows you're experiencing bug 1968040. To
work around that just add MUTTER_DEBUG_ENABLE_ATOMIC_KMS=0 to your
/etc/environment and reboot.

But the log also shows problems with
'SAMSUNG_SAMSUNG_Android_R5CR615MA2X' coming from the ubuntu-dock
extension. To work around that maybe try:

  Settings >
  Appearance >
  Dock >
  Configure dock behaviour >
Show Volumes and Devices = OFF

[Bug 1972133] [NEW] +/- geometry offsets don't work under Wayland

2022-05-08 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

When using the default wayland-based session in Ubuntu 22.04, trying to
use +/- to control window placement doesn't work. E.g. the following
should give me a gnome-terminal window in the lower-right corner of the

It does not; instead it stacks it with a window position just slightly
down from and to the left of the previous window.

2022-05-08 Thread Jaejeon Lim
Hello Muralidharan!

First of all, thanks for the quick reply.

After installing the link's kernel, manually reloading the mtk_t7xx
kernel module confirmed that the modem device was found normally.

However, there is still no connection through mmcli, so the requested
firmware and related dmesg log are attached.

Also, it would be appreciated if you could advise on where to get
information about the firmware of the device or where to obtain the
package file.

thank you.

[Bug 1972080] [NEW] gdm has incomplete dependency

2022-05-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Do not think this is hardware dependent, but I'm using an HPE
MicroServer Gen10 Plus.

I installed the server edition of 22.04. Post-Installation, I added
some desktop environments. After logging in, these are working fine.

However on the gdm login entry and password entry screens I had no mouse
pointer icon. A semi-opaque white square tracked the mouse movements.
My reading suggested that gdm defaults to using the cursor icon theme
provided by the adwaita-icon-theme package. I discovered this theme
comes in two sizes, a basic, smaller package installed automatically and
a larger "full" package.

$ apt list 'adwaita-icon-theme*'
Listing... Done
adwaita-icon-theme/jammy,now 41.0-1ubuntu1 all [installed,automatic]
adwaita-icon-theme-full/jammy,now 41.0-1ubuntu1 all [installed]
$

The gdm mouse pointer appears and disappears with installation and
removal of the package "adwaita-icon-theme-full". Either gdm's
dependencies should include the "full" package OR the appropriate mouse
pointer icons should be moved from the full to the basic "adwaita-icon-
theme" package.

[Bug 1972129] [NEW] user account show different users than "Users and Groups"

2022-05-08 Thread Kent Frazier
Public bug reported:

upgraded from 21.10 to 22.04. Upgrade seemed to require creating a new
(admin) id, which I did. When I now login the new account name is
displayed but I have to list other users to be able to login with my
pre-upgrade account. Going to system settings -> User Accounts shows
only the new account. Once logged in, invoking "Users & Groups" shows
both new id and pre-upgrade user account.

[Bug 1971093] Re: collectd missing in 22.04/jammy

2022-05-08 Thread Max Rower
I'm not sure, the packages from the proposed repository really do work.
Installed them in an LXC container running 22.04 on a 20.04 host. Statistics
are not stored locally, but sent to the 20.04 host, where rrdcached runs.
Currently only the uptime plugin (and exec as well for zigbee2mqtt) is active,
and it sends total garbage to the 20.04 host.
The uptime plugin running in other LXC containers using 20.04 instead of 22.04
is fine.

[Bug 1972127] [NEW] gnome-todo change date function is cumbersome

2022-05-08 Thread DuckDuckWhale
Public bug reported:

When I change the due date to a date in another month in the "Today"
view, the item immediately disappears right as I click the right arrow
on the month. I have to go to scheduled, scroll all the way down, find
the task in hundreds of other tasks, then change the date to the actual
day. I sometimes forget to do that and miss my actual task due date.
It should only update the month in the date selection UI, and not
actually update until a day is selected.

[Bug 1972126] [NEW] gnome-todo can't handle deletion

2022-05-08 Thread DuckDuckWhale
Public bug reported:

When I press delete, it says "Task ___ removed", yet the deleted item
pops back up as a greyed out item that can not be removed. After a
while, a whole bunch of horizontal lines form in the todo list, and is
quite annoying. Not sure if this is related or if I should file another

[Bug 1972125] [NEW] Remmina caches fingerprints wrongly when using two profiles with SSH tunneling

2022-05-08 Thread DuckDuckWhale
Public bug reported:

When using two profiles and alternating between connecting to them, it
always prompts that the certificate has changed and the old fingerprint
is the fingerprint for the other profile. I suspect that this is
because I use SSH tunneling for both and Remmina is caching the
fingerprints under the SSH tunnel for localhost.

(Also, the "tunneling via loopback address" feature is undocumented.
Should I open another bug for that?)

2022-05-08 Thread DuckDuckWhale

[Bug 1972113] Re: Ubuntu 22.04 screen keyboard shows but does not accept input

2022-05-08 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1972113/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

in an apport-gtk prompt asking me "Send problem report to the
developers?" When I click 'send', the dialog disappears and ubuntu-bug
exits, without uploading data to launchpad or interfacing with the
browser.

[Bug 1972099] Re: computer startup in emergency mode when NFS partition is inaccessible

2022-05-08 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
Thanks for the bug report!

Changing title to indicate actual impact, and reassining to systemd as
the 'nofail' mount option (which you tried) apparently didn't work.

Per systemd.mount(5) man page:

   nofail
[..] This means that the boot will continue without waiting
for the mount unit and regardless whether the mount point
   can be mounted successfully.

** Summary changed:

- computer startup crashes when NFS partition is inaccessible
+ computer startup in emergency mode when NFS partition is inaccessible

** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: util-linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Invalid
