[Bug 1972159] Re: systemd-oomd frequently kills firefox and visual studio code

2022-05-27 Thread Kevin
This is greatly exasperated because systemd until v251 is using MemFree
and not MemAvailable to decide how much memory is remaining. Since Linux
aggressively uses MemFree for caching, this will result in systemd-oomd
excessively killing applications.

There's a fix in upstream 030bc91cb98385904b28a839d1e04bb4160a52d2,
which was released as v251 about a week ago.

[Bug 1808123]

2022-05-27 Thread Krister Swenson
a) Provide details of your system including your operating
system and the latest version of LibreOffice that you have
confirmed the bug to be present

Ubuntu 22.04

GNOME 42.1

Wayland

Version: 7.3.3.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.3-0ubuntu0.22.04.1
Calc: threaded

b) Provide easy to reproduce steps – the simpler the better

1. connect an external monitor and choose "Join Displays" in the GNOME
displays settings. Make the external monitor the secondary display.

2. open Writer on the external monitor

3. choose "fullscreen" on writer using Ctr-Shft-J

4. see that it goes to fullscreen but relocates to the primary monitor.

c) Provide any test case(s) which will help us confirm the problem

This happens with any writer file. There are no test cases.

d) Provide screenshots of the problem if you think it might help

I'll attached a video of the external monitor.

One thing to note is that after exiting fullscreen, the window returns to the
external monitor, but has the dimensions of the primary monitor.

[Bug 1976136] [NEW] lutris doesn't launch World of Warships

2022-05-27 Thread DuckDuckWhale
Public bug reported:

After installing with the provided installer, the game installs and
launches with a black screen and a debug dialog prompt, then wineserver
takes 100% CPU usage and nothing happens for minutes until I killed the

constantly it may not be a regression.

[Bug 1956916] Re: Using certain xkb-options, e.g. Alt+Shift, for switching input sources not reflected by the input source indicator in a wayland session

2022-05-27 Thread Alphonsos Pangas
I have the same issues reported, e.g., in #34 or #25.
However, I have an additional issue: The scroll lock indicator LED on the
keyboard, in previous versions used to indicate the current input language (in
my case off=English, on= Greek). Now, however, it is inconsistent. When I
switch with super+space, everything (including the scrolllock LED) works
correctly. When I switch with Alt+Shift, however, it cycles in a 2-1-2-1-2-1
pattern (similar to the input language switch, i.e. I need to press Alt+shift
once to turn the LED on, then TWICE more to turn it off again). The problem is
that the 2-1-2 pattern is NOT in sync between the language selection and the
LED indication, which renders the LED indicator completely useless. In other
words, successive presses of Alt+Shift produce the following results:
English/LED off
Greek / LED on
English/LED on
English/LED off
Greek / LED on
English/LED on
English / LED OFF
Greek / LED on

BTW, it might be a good idea to notify the upstream developers who
develop the GNOME super+space code, even if it isn't, strictly speaking,
THEIR bug. If they allowed Alt+shift as a switch keystroke, they would
render our life much easier.

I tried editing my menu today, and I couldn't add/edit/delete anything anymore.
I tried running it via cli and got that error log. In addition to that, it
doesn't seem to load the list of items anymore. The "Tilix" that you see under
Internet was made in Menulibre when I installed it and attempted to fix my
issue. Unfortunately, Menulibre hid all the items, but somehow retained the
"Tilix" that I created. https://imgur.com/a/qiK6gLH

[Bug 1976133] [NEW] resolvectl omits domains when mixing search and route params

2022-05-27 Thread IRNPS
Public bug reported:

Release:20.04
Codename: focal

default-hierarchy=hybrid

When I execute:
sudo resolvectl domain neth0 ~example.com example.com
I expect:
Link 17 (neth0): ~example.com example.com

As per man:
"domain [LINK [DOMAIN...]] - The domain command expects valid DNS domains,
possibly prefixed with "~", and configures a per-interface search or route-only
domain."

What I get instead is:
sudo resolvectl domain neth0 ~example.com example.com

/etc/resolv.conf -> /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf
contains search example.com

resolvectl domain neth0
Link 17 (neth0): example.com

And:

[Bug 1976131] [NEW] automatic timezone updates to wrong timezone

2022-05-27 Thread Krister Swenson
Public bug reported:

This is to mark a bug that I've reported upstream at:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/1874

I am using GNOME 42.1 on Ubuntu 22.04. I leave the "Automatic Time Zone" on.
When traveling last week to San Diego, with a layover in Seattle, I noticed
that my timezone updated, but to the wrong timezone (MDT). I then got back on
the plane and arrived in San Diego. This time the timezone updated to PTD as it
should. I am now back in Seattle and the timezone has now updated from the
correct zone PTD to the wrong one MDT.

[Bug 1971788] Re: Failure to enable SSL out of the box when in fips mode

2022-05-27 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello Tobias, just a quick question on the patch:

+-int set_fips_mode(const uint fips_mode, char
err_string[OPENSSL_ERROR_LENGTH]) {
++int set_fips_mode(uint fips_mode, char err_string[OPENSSL_ERROR_LENGTH]) {

does this change the ABI in any way that anything would care about or
notice?

Thanks

[Bug 1975566] Re: Unknown bug

2022-05-27 Thread Sebastian Schauenburg
Re-reading my previous post, I need to clarify.

about 1) and 2):
I tried to USB boot (normal) and it didn't work. I got many GUI hangs/crashes.
After ~5-10 times I got fed up with it and tried a USB (safe) boot, which
worked. Then I tried the USB (normal) boot again and it suddenly worked.

about 3):
if the GUI works, it hangs quickly but never in the same interval (probably
crashes in the background) and does not recover. I seem to remember that
sometimes even switching to a VT didn't work. I was surprised that remote SSH
login worked, but reboots had to mostly be 'hard' eventually (e.g. the reboot
command didn't completely finish).
When the GUI hangs, the mousecursor is static and nothing can be done.
Alt-tabbing also did not work.

But, I found a workaround!
I installed the "5.18.0-051800-generic" kernel from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds
and used this modprobe file with options:
# disable the older 'radeon' kernel module
blacklist radeon
# disable audio
options amdgpu audio=0
# magic options for my TAHITI R9 280X
options amdgpu si_support=1
options amdgpu cik_support=1
options amdgpu dpm=0
options amdgpu aspm=0
options amdgpu runpm=0
options amdgpu bapm=0

[Bug 1973373] Re: Update gnome-shell to 42.1

2022-05-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I installed gnome-shell 42.1-0ubuntu0.1

I installed and enabled the GNOME Shell extensions from
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/removal-of-gnome-shell-extension-from-
universe-and-stop-auto-syncs/18437/9 and verified that they were all
able to be activated and appeared to work.

I logged into these sessions and things appeared to work:
GNOME
GNOME Classic
Ubuntu
Ubuntu on Xorg

[Bug 1970090] Re: Backintime not launching because of python error

2022-05-27 Thread Fantu
I saw that pkexec is dep. of policykit-1, a dep. of backintime so add a pkexec
dep. is not needed in SRU.
I prepared a Jammy vm and did a fast test of backintime from my ppa.
I saw that launch from icon as root crash, I found that is a pkexec bug with
wayland (now default), with xorg works correctly.
Is an "old" bug already reported here:

[Bug 1969629] Re: Apache 2.4.x: mod_http2 sends empty response after MaxRequestsPerChild

2022-05-27 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Verification for Impish.

First, verifying that the bug is reproducible:

# apt policy apache2
apache2:
  Installed: 2.4.48-3.1ubuntu3.3
  Candidate: 2.4.48-3.1ubuntu3.3
  Version table:

# while true; do if [[ $(curl -o /dev/null -s -k --http2 http://localhost/ -w
'%{size_download}') == 0 ]]; then echo "BUG DETECTED"; break; fi; done
BUG DETECTED

Now, installing the package from -proposed and verifying that it fixes
the bug:

# apt policy apache2
apache2:
  Installed: 2.4.48-3.1ubuntu3.4
  Candidate: 2.4.48-3.1ubuntu3.4
  Version table:

As can be seen, the loop did not return right away and instead had to be
manually stopped.

This concludes the verification for Impish.

[Bug 1976114] Re: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS : Failed to start Ubuntu live CD installer

2022-05-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs

[Bug 1973285] Re: [SRU] libraspberrypi0 multi-arch install failing due to lintian override content difference

2022-05-27 Thread Dave Jones
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ Despite libraspberrypi0 being declared Multi-Arch: same, users cannot
+ install libraspberrypi0:armhf on arm64 systems. This affects the ability
+ to (attempt to) use libwidevine (the library required to play certain
+ proprietary streaming services, e.g. Netflix, which is currently only
+ available as an armhf binary).
+
+ Note: For the sake of clarity, while this fix enables
+ libraspberrypi0:armhf to be co-installed with the arm64 variant, I have
+ *not* tested installation / usage of widevine itself as that's beyond
+ the scope of this bug.
+
+ It also affects users of the (still very popular) legacy camera stack,
+ which is only supported on the armhf architecture as of jammy (all the
+ mmal utilities and libraries were removed from arm64 upstream, and this
+ change was incorporated in raspberrypi-userland in jammy).
+
+ [Test Plan]
+
+ * Flash the Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 for Raspberry Pi to an SD card
+
(http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/jammy/release/ubuntu-22.04-preinstalled-
+ desktop-arm64+raspi.img.xz is the relevant image, but this is probably
+ easier to accomplish via the rpi-imager tool)
+
+ * Boot the SD card on a supported Pi (4, 400, CM4) and run through
+ first-time setup
+
+ * Open a terminal
+
+ * sudo dpkg --add-architecture armhf
+
+ * sudo apt update
+
+ * sudo apt install libraspberrypi0:armhf
+
+ * Observe failure due to conflict in lintian-overrides
+
+ * Enable proposed updates
+ (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed)
+
+ * sudo apt update
+
+ * sudo apt install libraspberrypi0:armhf
+
+ * Package installs successfully
+
+ * The fixed version also sets Multi-Arch: same on libraspberrypi-dev, so
+ it would also be useful to test the following: sudo apt install
+ libraspberrypi-dev:{armhf,arm64}
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ We could backport just the Multi-Arch fixes to the lintian-overrides,
+ but the diff between the version currently shipped in jammy, and the
+ fixed version in kinetic is small consisting of only 6 (mostly trivial)
+ commits (no new features are included, just bug fixes). Hence, I've
+ decided to just backport the fixed version, unless the SRU team raises
+ any objections.
+
+ The fixed version has been tested on the jammy desktop and jammy server
+ arm64 platforms without issue so far.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
  https://github.com/Botspot/pi-apps/pull/1806

Cannot install libraspberrypi0:armhf on 22.04 (Jammy) because of broken
dependencies.
Please fix your packages for libraspberrypi0.

[Bug 1973107] Re: Failure to link a PIE binary on ppc64el (FTBFS)

2022-05-27 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
I had to revert the patch in Kinetic because it was causing
golang-1.18.2 to fail to compile itself on ppc64el. After some more
investigation and help from upstream, I finally have the couple of
patches needed to be backported in order to fix this bug fully.

That's why I'm setting this bug as In Progress again.

[Bug 1976119] [NEW] Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-*

2022-05-27 Thread jimav
Public bug reported:

Every time 'evince' runs it prints this on the terminal:

dbind-WARNING **: ... Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to
connect to socket /run/user//at-spi/bus_0: Permission denied

AFAICT this is the same as a very-old bug 1193236, but that bug was
closed with a comment "If you are affected, open your own bug"
spi2-core/+bug/1193236/comments/20). So I am.

Xubuntu (xfce) 22.04

evince version 42.0

at-spi2-core Ubuntu package version 2.44.0-3

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. In a terminal, run /usr/bin/evince

RESULTS:

Error glop appears on terminal

EXPECTED RESULTS:

Silence unless there is a real error the user can respond to.

** Affects: at-spi2-core (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Description changed:
