[Bug 1972159] Re: systemd-oomd frequently kills firefox and visual studio code
This is greatly exasperated because systemd until v251 is using MemFree and not MemAvailable to decide how much memory is remaining. [Bug 1956916] Re: Using certain xkb-options, e.g. Alt+Shift, for switching input sources not reflected by the input source indicator in a wayland session
I have the same issues reported, e.g., in #34 or #25. However, I have an additional issue: The scroll lock indicator LED on the keyboard, in previous versions used to indicate the current input language (in my case off=English, on= Greek). Now, however, it is inconsistent. When I switch with super+space, everything (including the scrolllock LED) works correctly. When I switch with Alt+Shift, however, it cycles in a 2-1-2-1-2-1 pattern (similar to the input language switch, i.e. I need to press Alt+shift once to turn the LED on, then TWICE more to turn it off again). The problem is that the 2-1-2 pattern is NOT in sync between the language selection and the LED indication, which renders the LED indicator completely useless. In other words, successive presses of Alt+Shift produce the following results: English/LED off Greek / LED on English/LED on English/LED off Greek / LED on English/LED on English / LED OFF Greek / LED on BTW, it might be a good idea to notify the upstream developers who develop the GNOME super+space code, even if it isn't, strictly speaking, THEIR bug. If they allowed Alt+shift as a switch keystroke, they would render our life much easier. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956916 Title: Using certain xkb-options, e.g. Alt+Shift, for switching input sources not reflected by the input source indicator in a wayland session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1956916/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1976131] [NEW] automatic timezone updates to wrong timezone
Public bug reported: This is to mark a bug that I've reported upstream at: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/1874 I am using GNOME 42.1 on Ubuntu 22.04. I leave the "Automatic Time Zone" on. When traveling last week to San Diego, with a layover in Seattle, I noticed that my timezone updated, but to the wrong timezone (MDT). I then got back on the plane and arrived in San Diego. This time the timezone updated to PTD as it should. I am now back in Seattle and the timezone has now updated from the correct zone PTD to the wrong one MDT. [Bug 1975566] Re: Unknown bug
Re-reading my previous post, I need to clarify. about 1) and 2): I tried to USB boot (normal) and it didn't work. I got many GUI hangs/crashes. After ~5-10 times I got fed up with it and tried a USB (safe) boot, which worked. Then I tried the USB (normal) boot again and it suddenly worked. about 3): if the GUI works, it hangs quickly but never in the same interval (probably crashes in the background) and does not recover. I seem to remember that sometimes even switching to a VT didn't work. I was surprised that remote SSH login worked, but reboots had to mostly be 'hard' eventually (e.g. the reboot command didn't completely finish). When the GUI hangs, the mousecursor is static and nothing can be done. Alt-tabbing also did not work. But, I found a workaround! I installed the "5.18.0-051800-generic" kernel from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds and used this modprobe file with options: # disable the older 'radeon' kernel module blacklist radeon # disable audio options amdgpu audio=0 # magic options for my TAHITI R9 280X options amdgpu si_support=1 options amdgpu cik_support=1 options amdgpu dpm=0 options amdgpu aspm=0 options amdgpu runpm=0 options amdgpu bapm=0 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1975566 Title: Unknown bug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1975566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1976114/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1973285] Re: [SRU] libraspberrypi0 multi-arch install failing due to lintian override content difference
** Description changed: + [Impact] + + Despite libraspberrypi0 being declared Multi-Arch: same, users cannot + install libraspberrypi0:armhf on arm64 systems. This affects the ability + to (attempt to) use libwidevine (the library required to play certain + proprietary streaming services, e.g. Netflix, which is currently only + available as an armhf binary). + + Note: For the sake of clarity, while this fix enables + libraspberrypi0:armhf to be co-installed with the arm64 variant, I have + *not* tested installation / usage of widevine itself as that's beyond + the scope of this bug. + + It also affects users of the (still very popular) legacy camera stack, + which is only supported on the armhf architecture as of jammy (all the + mmal utilities and libraries were removed from arm64 upstream, and this + change was incorporated in raspberrypi-userland in jammy). + + [Test Plan] + + * Flash the Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 for Raspberry Pi to an SD card + (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/jammy/release/ubuntu-22.04-preinstalled- + desktop-arm64+raspi.img.xz is the relevant image, but this is probably + easier to accomplish via the rpi-imager tool) + + * Boot the SD card on a supported Pi (4, 400, CM4) and run through + first-time setup + + * Open a terminal + + * sudo dpkg --add-architecture armhf + + * sudo apt update + + * sudo apt install libraspberrypi0:armhf + + * Observe failure due to conflict in lintian-overrides + + * Enable proposed updates + (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed) + + * sudo apt update + + * sudo apt install libraspberrypi0:armhf + + * Package installs successfully + + * The fixed version also sets Multi-Arch: same on libraspberrypi-dev, so + it would also be useful to test the following: sudo apt install + libraspberrypi-dev:{armhf,arm64} + + [Regression Potential] + + We could backport just the Multi-Arch fixes to the lintian-overrides, + but the diff between the version currently shipped in jammy, and the + fixed version in kinetic is small consisting of only 6 (mostly trivial) + commits (no new features are included, just bug fixes). Hence, I've + decided to just backport the fixed version, unless the SRU team raises + any objections. + + The fixed version has been tested on the jammy desktop and jammy server + arm64 platforms without issue so far. + + [Original Description] + https://github.com/Botspot/pi-apps/pull/1806 Cannot install libraspberrypi0:armhf on 22.04 (Jammy) because of broken dependencies. Please fix your packages for libraspberrypi0. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973285 Title: [SRU] libraspberrypi0 multi-arch install failing due to lintian override content difference To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/raspberrypi-userland/+bug/1973285/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug is awaiting verification that the linux-azure/5.15.0-1008.9 kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-jammy' to 'verification-done-jammy'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-jammy' to 'verification-failed-jammy'. If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed. [Bug 1973107] Re: Failure to link a PIE binary on ppc64el (FTBFS)
I had to revert the patch in Kinetic because it was causing golang-1.18.2 to fail to compile itself on ppc64el. After some more investigation and help from upstream, I finally have the couple of patches needed to be backported in order to fix this bug fully. That's why I'm setting this bug as In Progress again. ** Changed in: golang-1.18 (Ubuntu Kinetic) Status: Fix Released => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973107 Title: Failure to link a PIE binary on ppc64el (FTBFS) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/golang/+bug/1973107/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
