[Bug 2055799] Re: FFe: Switch Ubuntu Unity to using Calamares
** Description changed: Filing this under calamares-settings-ubuntu as this is where the majority of the code will be. Ubuntu Unity intends on moving away from the Ubiquity installer this cycle. As discussed with team lead Rudra Saraswat on Matrix, the goal is to move to the Calamares installer currently used by Lubuntu and Kubuntu. [Bug 2055455] Re: dnsmasq-base causes network device virbr0 to shut down
Your suggestion to limit bind will work for me. I wasn't sure how to tell bind to not listen on an interface. Bind defaults to: listen-on { any; }; I modified /etc/bind/named.conf.options by adding the following line: listen-on port 53 { 127.0.0.1; 192.168.2/24; }; This should restrict bind to localhost and my main network, and should prevent it from attaching to the virbr0 interface. After installing the current version of dnsmasq (2.90-0ubuntu0.22.04.1) and rebooting, it looks like everything is working properly now. [Bug 2055770] Re: AttributeError: module 'cloudinit.log' has no attribute 'getLogger'
Thank you so much for filing the bug and making cloud-init better. From the provided traceback, it looks like this is a private DataSourceUI that isn't upstream in cloud-init importing getLogger from cloudinit.log which no longer exists in our upstream repository as of commit https://github.com/canonical/cloud-init/commit/40bfa351c09a71d9cdcf036b201a62894c3acc84 Given that this module method was not used anymore by any upstream code in cloud-init, we felt it best to purge unused methods to avoid ongoing maintenance of functions that are not necessary for current cloud-init to continue functioning. My initial preliminary suggestion would be to have the team/person developing DataSourceUI `import logging` module directly. Longer-term, if the use-case for this datasource warrants it, it may be worth discussing with the upstream team in the Libera.chat #cloud-init channal about trying to upstream this dataasource to ensure changes in cloud- init don't adversely affect private datasources. Please let us know if either of these suggestions are not possible to correct this traceback in your environment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055770 Title: AttributeError: module 'cloudinit.log' has no attribute 'getLogger' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/2055770/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

So, it looks like you are running bind on this machine, and bind is listening on port 53 UDP: udp0 0 192.168.122.1:530.0.0.0:* 1521/named The old dnsmasq would ignore the error when it couldn't bind to a port, but the new dnsmasq will fail if the port is already used, which makes sense. [Bug 2055788] Re: closing a wireguard connection break my network card
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2055788/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 2018449] Re: `xmms2 add --playlist ... ` causes a core dump
Any progress on this??? I've tried to help by - recompiling the sources for my system. Same problem. - adding a debug statement: dpkg-buildpackage complains. - I tried recompiling the sources left behind. They complain. Apparently dpkg provides some required "environment". - recompiling that way is slow: It always restarts at at the configure stage and a clean build. - I tried compiling the github stable sources. I can't get them to compile. - I tried compileing the devel sources. I can't get them to compile. - I tried running gdb on the binary built, but that one "has no symbols" so not useful. So after 3 hours of "trying to pinpoint the problem" I've made zero progress and I'm giving up. Someone else will have to take a look. :-( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2018449 Title: `xmms2 add --playlist ... ` causes a core dump To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmms2/+bug/2018449/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2055783] [NEW] "Unnamed" actions on Rhythmbox's icon right-click menu
Public bug reported: This is from https://askubuntu.com/q/1506260/1004020 . I'm using Rhythmbox 3.4.7 and as you can see on the picture bellow, there are some Unnamed options on Rhythmbox's icon right-click menu: I've tried to copy org.gnome.Rhythmbox.desktop and org.gnome.Rhythmbox.device.desktop files data from Rhythmbox's GitLab to /usr/share/applications (same .desktop files), but nothing has changed. I guess that something is wrong with [Desktop Action ...] entries I've found a solution. [Desktop Action ...] entries were missing the Name properties $ lsb_release -rd No LSB modules are available. Description:Ubuntu 23.10 Release:23.10 $ apt-cache policy rhythmbox rhythmbox: Installed: 3.4.7-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.4.7-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.4.7-1ubuntu1 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu mantic/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status # What you expected to happen There should not be any unnamed entries in the GNOME dock or left bar when you right click for the context menu. https://askubuntu.com/q/1506260/1004020 # What happened instead The 4 unnamed entries appear in Ubuntu GNOME. Oddly they don't appear in KDE, but this is a GNOME bug either way because Rhythmbox is made by GNOME. # Analysis The self-answerer added names for the 4 desktop actions. This appeared to fix the problem. However, the new names lack localization. One thing is that the 4 actions will show all the time even if Rhythmbox is not open. Based on the behaviour on KDE, I think that the GNOME developers' original intent was to populate the 4 entries using the running application and hide them otherwise. ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "rhythmbox-contextmenu-askubuntu-1506260.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055783/+attachment/5751666/+files/rhythmbox-contextmenu-askubuntu-1506260.patch ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055783 Title: "Unnamed" actions on Rhythmbox's icon right-click menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2055783/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I did this: You can test that theory by comparing the windowed performance between jammy and noble. noble performance is about equal with a maximized window and fullscreen (140fps) jammy performance is a bit lower maximized window than fullscreen (162fps vs 177fps) but I see gnome-shell cpu usage at ~50% when when maximized window (vs 0-1% in fullscreen) so yeah definitely appears to be an issue with fullscreen direct scanout not working and additionally just gnome performance regresssions with windowed mode . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2052913 Title: Large Performance Regression in gnome-shell from Ubuntu Jammy to Ubuntu Noble To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2052913/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
