Hi Rainer, Thanks for trying that out, and it is great to hear that v4.0 works for you, and you added it to your /etc/fstab as a good workaround for the meantime. [Bug 2057716] [NEW] SRU of ubuntu-dev-tools 0.201ubuntu2
Public bug reported: [Impact] This release sports both bug-fixes and new features and we would like to make sure all of our Ubuntu developers have access to these improvements. [Test Case] The following development and SRU process was followed: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevToolsUpdates autopkgtests will be run for ubuntu-dev-tools as part of the SRU. The following changes affect how ubuntu-dev-tools interfaces with other packages: - there are no changes since 0.193ubuntu4 (the last SRUed version) that affect interfaces with other packages. [Where problems could occur] These are mostly changes already well-tested in mantic. There is introduction of a few new tools (pm-helper, running-autopkgtests) which pose no risk of regression. There are several small bugfixes in tools (mk-sbuild, pull-*-source, check-mir, syncpackage) that post-date mantic and could cause regressions but the chances of this are low. The biggest change that could be a problem is a complete refactor of the ubuntu-build tool; however, I believe almost no one is using this tool. The most likely users of this tool would be archive admins and I was completely unaware of the existence of this tool in ubuntu-dev-tools until about 3 months ago - I had my own local scripts for retrying builds, and I believe most other people doing mass-retries of failed builds do as well, with the possible exception of Gianfranco who acked my merge. So it's worth risking some short-term issues with behavior changes, in exchange for having a standard and supported tool that Ubuntu devs actually consume for triggering build retries. ** Affects: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released ** Affects: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu Mantic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2057716 Title: SRU of ubuntu-dev-tools 0.201ubuntu2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-dev-tools/+bug/2057716/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2002043] Re: Python extension modules get built using wrong compiler flags with python2
The only focal autopkgtest that really has me confused in the python2.7 failure. This is due to a unit test that fails. The strange thing is that this unit test actually fails in the Jammy autopkgtest, but the Jammy autopkgtest passes anyways. It has always been like this. You will see 1643s FAIL: test_customize_compiler (distutils.tests.test_sysconfig.SysconfigTestCase) 1643s -- 1643s Traceback (most recent call last): 1643s File "/usr/lib/python2.7/distutils/tests/test_sysconfig.py", line 110, in test_customize_compiler 1643s 'env_cc --sc-cflags --env-cflags --env-cppflags') 1643s AssertionError: 'env_cc -fno-strict-aliasing --env-cflags --env-cppflags' != 'env_cc --sc-cflags --env-cflags --env-cppflags' Which has always been like this - my patch did not cause this change. I think this should be safe to ignore simply because the package has always been like this, and if it is an issue we should've found a bug for it by now. I tried to see if the Debian autopkgtest also sees this behavior, but unfortunately those logs have been removed due to the retention policy. I'm curious if the change I am doing will fix this unit test... So I created a PPA with the change enabled by default and will come back when the results are ready. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2002043 Title: Python extension modules get built using wrong compiler flags with python2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python2.7/+bug/2002043/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2056647] Re: Calamares Install fail - Lubuntu Noble 24.04 - Could not unmount target system
Looking at the linked bug report, the issue was simply caused by having /var on a separate partition. I tried to do a much more simple scheme with just / and /var (both ext4) and had no problems. Admittedly that bug report seems to be specific to BTRFS and it results in a different error related to trying to unmount something that wasn't mounted. tl;dr all that has nothing to do with your situation. I have a sneaking suspicion your problem is somewhat related to your hardware itself. So the first thing I would try to do is to reproduce the problem with the exact same setup. Assuming you can do that, I would try to try other permutations as well as try eliminating variables to see if you can figure out what the culprit is. I'd suggest: 1. Trying to flip which device has which partition scheme 2. Trying to do the whole partition scheme on one device, then the other 3. Using a simpler partition scheme, perhaps where the other device has only a /var partition and let /home and /usr just live under / 4. Using the simpler partition scheme on one device or the other etc. ** Changed in: calamares (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056647 Title: Calamares Install fail - Lubuntu Noble 24.04 - Could not unmount target system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/2056647/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
