[Bug 2056739] Re: apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" class="file" profile="virt-aa-helper" name="/etc/gnutls/config"

2024-03-12 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
FYI the fix and a related cleanup are merged into upstream apparmor and
I'd expect the next upload to Ubuntu to then fix this issue.

@Martin
Thanks for the extra info for completeness, I assume we might find even more if
we spend more time (but tat would provide no extra gain).

@John
Up to you then, I'll assign the apparmor task to you to represent that I'm not
driving that part

[Bug 2056549] Re: Problems with nfs-common after upgrade to 3.6

2024-03-12 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Hi Rainer,

Thanks for trying that out, and it is great to hear that v4.0 works for
you, and you added it to your /etc/fstab as a good workaround for the
meantime.

Are you interested in debugging why your system hangs when trying v4.2
and v4.1? or do you want to leave it there? 4.0 will keep working for
you with 1:1.3.4-2.5ubuntu3.6.

Thanks,
Matthew

You are using a 3rd party kernel (xanmod) that Ubuntu cannot and does
not support. Only if you can reproduce the issue with the Ubuntu kernels
from our official repositories can this bug this be considered.

[Bug 2057716] [NEW] SRU of ubuntu-dev-tools 0.201ubuntu2

2024-03-12 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
This release sports both bug-fixes and new features and we would like to
make sure all of our Ubuntu developers have access to these improvements.

[Test Case]
The following development and SRU process was followed:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevToolsUpdates

autopkgtests will be run for ubuntu-dev-tools as part of the SRU.

The following changes affect how ubuntu-dev-tools interfaces with other
packages:

- there are no changes since 0.193ubuntu4 (the last SRUed version) that
affect interfaces with other packages.

[Where problems could occur]
These are mostly changes already well-tested in mantic. There is introduction
of a few new tools (pm-helper, running-autopkgtests) which pose no risk of
regression. There are several small bugfixes in tools (mk-sbuild,
pull-*-source, check-mir, syncpackage) that post-date mantic and could cause
regressions but the chances of this are low. The biggest change that could be
a problem is a complete refactor of the ubuntu-build tool; however, I believe
almost no one is using this tool. The most likely users of this tool would be
archive admins and I was completely unaware of the existence of this tool in
ubuntu-dev-tools until about 3 months ago - I had my own local scripts for
retrying builds, and I believe most other people doing mass-retries of failed
builds do as well, with the possible exception of Gianfranco who acked my
merge. So it's worth risking some short-term issues with behavior changes, in
exchange for having a standard and supported tool that Ubuntu devs actually
consume for triggering build retries.

[Bug 2057714] [NEW] gnuplot FTBFS crashes in doc2tex

[Bug 2002043] Re: Python extension modules get built using wrong compiler flags with python2

2024-03-12 Thread Mitchell Dzurick
The only focal autopkgtest that really has me confused in the python2.7
failure. This is due to a unit test that fails. The strange thing is
that this unit test actually fails in the Jammy autopkgtest, but the
Jammy autopkgtest passes anyways. It has always been like this.

You will see

1643s FAIL: test_customize_compiler
(distutils.tests.test_sysconfig.SysconfigTestCase)
1643s --
1643s Traceback (most recent call last):
1643s File "/usr/lib/python2.7/distutils/tests/test_sysconfig.py", line 110,
in test_customize_compiler
1643s 'env_cc --sc-cflags --env-cflags --env-cppflags')
1643s AssertionError: 'env_cc -fno-strict-aliasing --env-cflags --env-cppflags'
!= 'env_cc --sc-cflags --env-cflags --env-cppflags'

Which has always been like this - my patch did not cause this change.

I think this should be safe to ignore simply because the package has
always been like this, and if it is an issue we should've found a bug
for it by now.

I tried to see if the Debian autopkgtest also sees this behavior, but
unfortunately those logs have been removed due to the retention policy.

I'm curious if the change I am doing will fix this unit test... So I
created a PPA with the change enabled by default and will come back when
the results are ready.

[Bug 2057713] [NEW] [SRU] ceph 16.2.15

2024-03-12 Thread Luciano Lo Giudice
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
This release fixes several bugs. We would like to make sure all of our users
have access to these improvements.

The update contains the following package updates:

   * ceph 16.2.15

[Test Case]
The following SRU process was followed:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenStackUpdates

In order to avoid regression of existing users, the OpenStack team will
run their continuous integration test against the packages that are in
-proposed. A successful run of all available tests will be required
before the proposed packages can be let into -updates.

The OpenStack team will be in charge of attaching the output summary of
the executed tests. The OpenStack team members will not mark
‘verification-done’ until this has happened.

[Regression Potential]
In order to mitigate the regression potential, the results of the
aforementioned tests will be attached to this bug.

[Bug 2056647] Re: Calamares Install fail - Lubuntu Noble 24.04 - Could not unmount target system

2024-03-12 Thread ԜаӀtеr Ⅼарсһуnѕkі
Looking at the linked bug report, the issue was simply caused by having
/var on a separate partition. I tried to do a much more simple scheme
with just / and /var (both ext4) and had no problems. Admittedly that
bug report seems to be specific to BTRFS and it results in a different
error related to trying to unmount something that wasn't mounted. tl;dr
all that has nothing to do with your situation.

I have a sneaking suspicion your problem is somewhat related to your hardware
itself. So the first thing I would try to do is to reproduce the problem with
the exact same setup. Assuming you can do that, I would try to try other
permutations as well as try eliminating variables to see if you can figure out
what the culprit is. I'd suggest:
 1. Trying to flip which device has which partition scheme
 2. Trying to do the whole partition scheme on one device, then the other
 3. Using a simpler partition scheme, perhaps where the other device has only a
/var partition and let /home and /usr just live under /
 4. Using the simpler partition scheme on one device or the other
etc.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

the issue. Things went south after `ldd /sbin/fsck.ext4` leading to
`/lib/libgcwrap.so`.

Can you provide the output of the `ldd /sbin/fsck.ext4` command? On a

[Bug 2056706] Re: System unstable, kernel ring buffer flooded with "BUG: Bad page state in process swapper/0"

2024-03-12 Thread Eugene San
I did not have the chance to see the logs but I can confirm that 6.8.0-11 is
extremely unstable.
It randomly but surely hangs under load.

It usually hangs at the beginning of default Ubuntu 24.04 ISO install on both
KVM and Virtual box.
On real H/W (Dell XPS13) it hangs under load (nothing in the logs).

Sometime the UI freezes and mouse cursor continues to react, sometimes
it hardlocks with 100% CPU usage on Hypervisors.

I am still baffled why Canonical decided to go with 6.8 for LTS...

[Bug 2056655] Re: Fullscreen mode dosent display image fullscreen

2024-03-12 Thread ԜаӀtеr Ⅼарсһуnѕkі
This is not a bug. The program is functioning as intended and follows the
behavior of at least a couple other image viewers. Gwenview is the same, for
example. Even Firefox. You're welcome to make a feature request of the upstream
project. It might be best to have a discussion about it beforehand to see if
anyone would actually like to implement it. Here's a good place for that:

[Bug 2008463] Re: package clamav-daemon 0.103.6+dfsg-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: installed clamav-daemon package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 2

2024-03-12 Thread Mitchell Dzurick
This failed because of the following line:

/var/lib/dpkg/info/clamav-daemon.postinst: 428: cannot create
/var/lib/clamav/clamav.conf: Directory nonexistent

I guess /var/lib/clamav/ directory did not exist during install. I'm not
sure how this case occurs. Was there anything interesting you did before
the upgrade?

Perhaps we should update the maintainer script to do something such as
"mkdir -p /var/lib/clamav/" before [0].

2024-03-12 Thread Aaron Rainbolt
What language were you trying? Calamares might just not have supported
it. I tried this yesterday or the day before (if I remember correctly)
and the language got through to Calamares just fine.

2024-03-12 Thread Mitchell Dzurick
I'm going through some old bugs.

I'm also unable to reproduce this. If we could get some more information
such as what your /etc/nginx/nginx.conf looks like, that may be helpful
in reproduction.

Looking online I see a few different reports which seem similar, where
each have differing solutions. For example [0] has a solution of
removing old nginx modules. This isn't ideal but could be useful. If
this is the case and easily reproducible it should be handled by us in
the maintainer scripts. Other similar looking bugs[1] have solutions
such as manually linking missing modules.

It's hard to tell exactly what's going on without being able to
reproduce it. Therefore, I'm setting the bug to incomplete since it is
not easily reproducible and not getting much traction.

Please comment if this bug should be looked into more, and provide
information such as your /etc/nginx/nginx.conf.
