After upgrading from 20.04 to 22.04, the backend is already running but
frontend displays the message

DB type "POSTGRESQL" is not supported by current setup. Possible
values MYSQL.

[Bug 2065847] [NEW] Right click on a zip file does not offer 'open with archive manager'

2024-05-15 Thread corrado venturini
Public bug reported:

Right click on a zip file does not offer 'open with archive manager'
Also if file-roller is installed by right-click on a .zip file in the drop-down
menu i don’t see the option ‘Open with archive manager’ as i had in Ubuntu
22.04 as 1st option. So I must select ‘Open with’ and search for an app … and
if I don’t know file-roller==archive-manager I’m lost.

[Bug 2058227] Re: Crash during upgrade from Mantic to Noble due to Python 3.12

2024-05-15 Thread Munch
I'm not sure what's blocking it either, I just know that I still can't
upgrade from Mantic and don't feel comfortable forcing it just in case
something is critically broken that isn't listed there. The confusion
around what is and isn't blocking the upgrade involving some bugs that
were listed as hard to recover from this time around has me erring on
the side of caution.

https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/noble-numbat-24-04-release-status-tracking/44043
lists https://pad.lv/2058227 as the only blocker, but the fix for that was
released despite its status there being listed as only committed.
Meanwhile
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntu-24-04-lts-noble-numbat-release-notes/39890#heading--known-issues
 just says upgrades are not supported, does not elaborate, but lists
https://pad.lv/2063221 as one example, which is also fixed. If there are other
critical issues blocking the upgrade, they should be listed too so users don't
inadvertently bork their systems assuming it was safe to upgrade because the
listed bugs were fixed.

[Bug 2065834] Re: freecol "No java runtime was found" in 24.04 with openjdk-21-jre

2024-05-15 Thread Justin Luth
also reported to freecol at https://sourceforge.net/p/freecol/bugs/3357/

** Description changed:

- During the development of noble, freecol was working, but with the final
- release, although freecol installs OK, it will not run. [warning]
- /usr/games/freecol: No Java runtime was found, even though
- openjdk-21-jre fulfills whatever dependencies are assigned.
+ During the development of noble (when it was installing openjdk-17-jre),
+ freecol was working, but with the final release, although freecol
+ installs OK, it will not run. "[warning] /usr/games/freecol: No Java
+ runtime was found," even though openjdk-21-jre is installed, fulfilling
+ the default-jre dependency.

  However, "apt install openjdk-17-jre" allows freecol to launch, fixing
  the problem.

about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2065827/+editstatus and add the

[Bug 2065829] [NEW] BTF support missing from kernel

2024-05-15 Thread Alan Gillingham
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu Server LTS 24.04, 6.8.0-1004-raspi

The OS is missing support for BTF which is needed in order to use XDP.
BTF is compiled into the x86 Ubuntu kernel but not on the raspi which is
missing the directory /sys/kernel/btf.

As a result, I am unable to use XDP AF_XDP sockets because my BPF
program fails to load with errors:

BPF program load failed: invalid argument.
btf_vmlinux is malformed

Is BTF intentionally removed and can it be added?

[Bug 2065652] Re: BT speaker automatically disconnects after sound stops playing

2024-05-15 Thread Korleon Palmer
** Description changed:

  I am using Bluez on Ubuntu 24.04 (or more specifically the Ubuntu Studio
  flavor).

  After a few seconds or minutes after I stop playing audio on Ubuntu
  (both Ubuntu Studio and vanilla Ubuntu), my Nest Home Mini speaker I've
  connected via Bluetooth disconnects automatically.

  What I expected: The Bluetooth speaker works like a regular speaker and
  doesn't disconnect.

  What happened: The speaker disconnects automatically after a few
  seconds/minutes of no audio. If audio was about to play before the
  crash, the program the audio was playing on will crash until it
  disconnects and switches to the next audio device.

  How to recreate:

  1. Connect a Bluetooth speaker (like the first generation Nest Home Mini I
use) to your PC
  2. Play a few minutes of audio.
- 3. When the audio stops, wait a few seconds, and the speaker will disconnect
itself.
+ 3. When the audio stops, wait a few seconds, try playing some audio, and the
speaker will disconnect itself and play the audio on the next device.

[Bug 2065826] [NEW] Group/user mentioned in udev rule prior to creation in postinstall hook

2024-05-15 Thread Kyle Metscher
Public bug reported:

Opening as part of a support ticket response.

colord can install udev rules -- in this case,
/usr/lib/udev/rules.d/69-cd-sensors.rules -- that mention the group
colord before creating it. If "systemctl daemon-reload" is ran between
installation of the rules file and creation of the group, it takes 60
seconds longer than usual. This can have a rather noticeable performance
impact when installing colord along with many other packages, which
occurs frequently in use cases like desktop provisioning.

I imagine it's possible to resolve this by moving the user/group
creation from the postinst script to preinst.

Reported in 24.04 with package version 1.4.7-1build2.

[Bug 2008157] Re: [SRU][Ubuntu 22.04.1]: Observed "Array Index out of bounds" Call Trace multiple times on Ubuntu 22.04.1 OS during boot

2024-05-15 Thread James Dingwall
I've had a look at the x86 code where this error comes from:

/* Returns a pointer to the cpumask of CPUs on Node 'node'. */
static inline const struct cpumask *cpumask_of_node(int node)
{
return node_to_cpumask_map[node];
}

So it seems the error arises because it is asked for a negative index from the
node_to_cpumask_map array. Interestingly the same name for sparc has handling
for the case the argument is -1:

#define cpumask_of_node(node) ((node) == -1 ?   \
   cpu_all_mask :   \
   _cpumask_lookup_table[node])

and so does powerpc:

#define cpumask_of_node(node) ((node) == -1 ?   \
   cpu_all_mask :   \
   node_to_cpumask_map[node])

in drivers/base/arch_numa.c there is a debug version for this name which
returns cpu_all_mask as sparc and powerpc for NUMA_NO_NODE
(include/linux/numa.h:#define NUMA_NO_NODE(-1)):

#ifdef CONFIG_DEBUG_PER_CPU_MAPS

/*
 * Returns a pointer to the bitmask of CPUs on Node 'node'.
 */
const struct cpumask *cpumask_of_node(int node)
{

if (node == NUMA_NO_NODE)
return cpu_all_mask;

if (WARN_ON(node < 0 || node >= nr_node_ids))
return cpu_none_mask;

if (WARN_ON(node_to_cpumask_map[node] == NULL))
return cpu_online_mask;

return node_to_cpumask_map[node];
}
EXPORT_SYMBOL(cpumask_of_node);

#endif

Based on these alternative implementations it seems as though cpumask_of_node
for x86 should be something like:

/* Returns a pointer to the cpumask of CPUs on Node 'node'. */
static inline const struct cpumask *cpumask_of_node(int node)
{
return node == -1 ? cpu_all_mask : node_to_cpumask_map[node];
}

I have insufficient knowledge about this stuff to say that is definitely
the case though.

[Bug 2065818] [NEW] No way to assume yes for do-release-upgrade

2024-05-15 Thread Jonas Gamao
Public bug reported:

This session appears to be running under ssh. It is not recommended
to perform a upgrade over ssh currently because in case of failure it
is harder to recover.

If you continue, an additional ssh daemon will be started at port
'1022'.
Do you want to continue?

Continue [yN] y

Starting additional sshd

To make recovery in case of failure easier, an additional sshd will
be started on port '1022'. If anything goes wrong with the running
ssh, you can still connect to the additional one.
If you run a firewall, you may need to temporarily open this port. As
this is potentially dangerous it's not done automatically. You can
open the port with e.g.:
'iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 1022 -j ACCEPT'

Updating repository information

No valid mirror found

While scanning your repository information no mirror entry for the
upgrade was found. This can happen if you run an internal mirror or
if the mirror information is out of date.

Do you want to rewrite your 'sources.list' file anyway? If you choose
'Yes' here it will update all 'focal' to 'jammy' entries.
If you select 'No' the upgrade will cancel.

[Bug 2065805] [NEW] Jammy update: v5.15.155 upstream stable release

2024-05-15 Thread Manuel Diewald
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
   The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
   in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
   demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
   by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
   a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
   stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

[Bug 2065806] [NEW] ECDH not constant time

2024-05-15 Thread Janus
Public bug reported:

https://github.com/bitcoin-core/secp256k1/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#032
---2023-05-13 reports that newer versions of GCC (such as the one used
in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble), which is version 13.2), will optimize away
the content timeness of the ECDH function. It would be nice to get
secp256k1 in Ubuntu updated to v0.3.2 or newer. If it's not possible to
do in Noble, it could be done in Ubuntu Oracular.

Objdump reveals that the library is built with ECDH:

% objdump -TC libsecp256k1.so.1| grep ecdh
00125cc8 gDO .data.rel.ro   0008  Base
secp256k1_ecdh_hash_function_sha256
00125cd0 gDO .data.rel.ro   0008  Base
secp256k1_ecdh_hash_function_default
ddf0 gDF .text  10b7  Base
secp256k1_ecdh

** Affects: libsecp256k1 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Information type changed from Private Security to Public

[Bug 2056578] Re: Tor Browser - keyboard not functioning

2024-05-15 Thread Thomas Ward
Note that this is not yet released in Debian. I have a bunch of things
to fix in the packaging first such as lintian issues and copyright
files.

I can debdiff this into Ubuntu as an SRU after the Debian package is
fully functional and compliant with policy.

[Bug 2037302] Re: ros-robot and ros-simulators-dev missing related packages

2024-05-15 Thread Jochen Sprickerhof
apt show ros-robot gives:

Description: Python Robot OS robot metapackage
 This package is part of Robot OS (ROS). It is a metapackage which
 provides all the ROS robot system (including ROS base).
 .
 Different to upstream, this package does not provide:
 control_msgs, executive_smach, filters,
 xacro.
 Please install them from source, if you need them.

So it clearly describes the situation. What do you mean by packaging
errors?

[Bug 2065780] Re: mouse cursor turns into big white square on pwr resume

2024-05-15 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2065780/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Ok I think this is only happening when scale on the display is set, for
me it was 150%. The scale also affected some other windows which lost
borders and resize didn't work for them. After changing back to 100% the
issues seems to be gone but I really want to be able to scale my screen

[Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind

2024-05-15 Thread Alexey Fomin
I'm having this same issue on Ubuntu 24, All IntelliJ IDEs are affected
including Android Studio (which is based on IntelliJ i think?) Didn't
notice with anything else. The only fix for me seems to be to minimize
all the other windows on the screen, if there is only desktop under
current window the issue is not happening

[Bug 2065192] Re: (ubuntu) pro attach doesn't work !

2024-05-15 Thread Pierluigi Cirrottola
I tested it as regular user.
"type apt" command shows: "apt is /usr/local/bin/apt"
"apt --version" shows: 1.15
Using root access nothing changed.

I tried to launch synaptic to check apt version: it is 1.6.17 (?!?) and I
discovered that apt command is located in /usr/bin ... so I made:
>/usr/bin/apt list --installed without any error. The output is in attached
>file apt-list--installed.txt .

Now the question is: why have I two apt commands in two different directories?
I alse tested the /usr/bin/apt command:

-pici->/usr/bin/apt --version
apt 1.6.17 (amd64)
-pici->type /usr/bin/apt
/usr/bin/apt è (=is) /usr/bin/apt

Looking at /usr/loca/bin I have found that the apt command here located
is a python3 script (attached)

Attache files are in 05-15-2024.7z file.

[Bug 2065546] Re: postfix configuration must be set on 24.04 before apt package manager can be used

2024-05-15 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Hi William,

The culprit for pulling in postfix when installing the set of packages
you mentioned in the description is Emacs. This is a side effect of a
change that I made when I last merged the last version from Debian, in
an attempt to reduce the delta and make it possible to eventually sync
Emacs again.

There are a few ways you can workaround this issue.

1) You can invoke apt using "--no-install-recommends" when installing
Emacs. This will prevent apt from installing the packages that Emacs
recommended, and mailutils (which actually installs postfix) is one of
them.

2) As Lucas said above, you can define the DEBIAN_FRONTEND environment
variable to "noninteractive". You can do it like:

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt install

Note that the DEBIAN_FRONTEND variable was *not* set on Jammy either;
the problem here relies solely on the fact that Emacs started
recommending mailutils (like it does in Debian), instead of suggesting
it.

I will add an Emacs task to the bug, but I consider this a wishlist and
believe that it should be raised with Debian first. Could you open a
bug against the Debian Emacs package and let us know when you do it,
please?

Thank you.

[Bug 2065791] Re: incorrect screen resolution in wayland session

2024-05-15 Thread Chris Hermansen
I thought to try adding a new user which would have fresh configuration
files. This new user experienced the same or very similar problems
(xorg session screen resolution seems fine, wayland session screen
resolution is ? X 1080).

On first login (which was an xorg session) the screen resolution was set
to 3840 x 1080. I used the Settings application to change it to 5120 X
1440. The resolution did not change at that point, but when I logged
out and logged back in again, it was at that point 5120 X 1440.

So I infer from this (perhaps wrongly) that the problem is not caused by
some crufty old configuration file.

Also, the Settings app reports two monitors for both users, when only
one is connected. Not sure why.

[Bug 2040483] Re: AppArmor denies crun sending signals to containers (stop, kill)

2024-05-15 Thread Neil Wilson
The debdiff I've put together for oracular updates the patch to be a bit
more general and cover all the signals I've seen so far in testing. (As
well as dropping the other patch that has been incorporated upstream).

  # Allow certain signals from OCI runtimes (podman, runc and crun)
signal (receive) set=(int, quit, kill, term)
peer={/usr/bin/,/usr/sbin/,}runc,
signal (receive) set=(int, quit, kill, term)
peer={/usr/bin/,/usr/sbin/,}crun,
signal (receive) set=(int, quit, kill, term)
peer={/usr/bin/,/usr/sbin/,}podman,

Upstream have said they have no apparmor experience, so I suspect they
will take a PR. See https://github.com/containers/common/issues/1898

[Bug 2062971] Re: Enable Ubuntu Pro page formatting is hard to follow

2024-05-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Regarding indentation in the screenshot:

 * "hardening" should be aligned with "Fulfill".

 * "You can always" should be aligned with "Skip for now".

 * "An internet connection" and "You can always" messages should have
the same wrapping, indentation and font size. Or at least be less
different than they are in the screenshot.

[Bug 2040483] Re: AppArmor denies crun sending signals to containers (stop, kill)

2024-05-15 Thread Tomáš Virtus
@lucaskanashiro: This patch is for golang-github-containers-common
source package. This source package produces golang-github-containers-
common-dev binary package, which is just source code on filesystem. But
podman binary package, which is produced from libpod source package, has
golang-github-containers-common-dev in its Build-Depends. It doesn't
depend on golang-github-containers-common-dev during runtime. So when
golang-github-containers-common is updated, libpod should be rebuilt.
Should I keep libpod as confirmed, and make a patch against libpod to
make a rebuild?

@neil-aldur: I'll try to reproduce.

[Bug 2062971] Re: Enable Ubuntu Pro page formatting is hard to follow

2024-05-15 Thread Nathan Teodosio
> There are two columns at the top, and then only one. Also the bullet
indentation is inconsistent.

I'm not really sure what this means, the bullet points are here both
aligned and also in your picture. I'll open a separate bug for the
moving logo then.

[Bug 2047256] Re: Ubuntu 24.04 Some image thumbnails no longer displayed

2024-05-15 Thread Dan Olive
Confused why this ticket is marked fix yet all of my Ubuntu 24 machines
fail to render a single thumbnail for any file.

[Bug 2052913] Re: [Xorg] Large performance regression in fullscreen windows

2024-05-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not sure I can work on this while I only have one laptop on hand
this week. I am getting highly erratic benchmark results where a bare
Xorg server runs *slower* than gnome-shell on Xorg. No wonder so few
people have reported it, because it's not always easy to notice or
reproduce.

Tried as well in (initramfs) to load the kernel module for lvm and lvm
vgchange -ay but this does nothing in (initramfs) making the system also
not recoverable when starting with the 6.5.0-35-generic kernel
