[Bug 2067338] [NEW] Long SysEx messages are skipped by Midi-Bridge
Public bug reported: [Impact] A regression in 1.0.5 has been found in PipeWire and is fixed in 1.0.7. Users of certain MIDI controllers that rely on long SysEx messages are unable to function properly. I noticed this when reconnecting my Beheringer X-Touch (shown here: https://nextcloud.ericheickmeyer.com/index.php/s/k9Aa9Bq7RDD5DoR) after the installation of 24.04 LTS, it could not operate properly. Disabling pipewire-jack and running ardour's internal jack functionality caused it to work properly. Investigation consisted of backporting 1.0.7 via a PPA to Noble which fixed the bug. Bug was confirmed via https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/4005. Solving bug via SRU will consist of creating patches from the commits that fixed the issue in upstream PipeWire. [Test Case] Using Ubuntu Studio * Connect a MIDI controller that uses long SysEx messages, such as a Behringer X-Touch, to the system. * Star Ardour * In Preferences > Control Surfaces > Mackie, select the MIDI controller for "Surface sends via:" and "Surface receives via:". Expected: complete control population and function Actual: Only display colors are populated [What could go wrong] It is possible that these patches could cause other problems outside of long SysEx messages in MIDI controllers. However, these patches were developed by the lead developer of PipeWire, Wim Taymans, and I tend to trust that he knows exactly what he's doing with this kind of thing. [Bug 2036670] Re: containerd packages are missing the crictl binary
Hi Craig, You might have gotten confused because of this containerd page: https://github.com/containerd/containerd/blob/main/docs/cri/crictl.md There are some commands to facilitate the installation of crictl, but the code actually resides here: https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/cri-tools The command `make install-deps` is defined here: https://github.com/containerd/containerd/blob/main/Makefile#L431 and it calls script/setup/install-critools, which basically installs crictl from its git repo. In short, the source code is not in the containerd repo. This is not as easy as enabling a build flag, we need to package it from scratch (a new source package). All the commands provided by the containerd source code can be seen here: https://github.com/containerd/containerd/tree/main/cmd The creation of a Debian package to provide crictl was already requested by other people, and it is a valid request, but this is unrelated to the containerd Debian package. ** Changed in: containerd (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Invalid ** Tags removed: server-triage-discuss -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2036670 Title: containerd packages are missing the crictl binary To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/containerd/+bug/2036670/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2067325] [NEW] m...@cinnamon.org applet configure custom icon
Public bug reported: OS: Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04 LTS x86_64 Kernel: Linux 6.8.0-31-generic The main menu applet, m...@cinnamon.org will not allow me to pick a PNG image for custom icon. If I search my icon folder, ~/.icons/Icons for a png, it shows none to choose from. If I drop a JPG image in there, it sees it and allows me to use it. I dual boot with Linux Mint 21.3 and do not have this issue. One thing I did notice is that if I export my menu, with the JPG image to a .json file, then edit the file and make that setting a PNG file, then import that .json file then the menu shows the PNG file as my selected custom icon. So the applet works as far as display, it just won't select PNG. Not sure about other image types svg or gif. Attachment shows trying to pick a PNG icon. This is with the current configuration set for that PNG image, however it doesn't show the image. ** Changed in: ubuntu-advantage-tools (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andreas Hasenack (ahasenack) ** Changed in: ubuntu-advantage-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: ubuntu-advantage-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Description changed: [ Impact ] On ubuntu-advantage-tools v32.2, currently in -proposed, we are hitting apparmor DENIED errors on the apt update hook which executes esm- cache.service. This ONLY happens if the version with the apparmor profiles is installed on a Focal system which has been upgraded from Bionic, using do-release- upgrade. It seems that despite covering /usr/bin/ in the profile on Focal for commands like uname or systemctl, we don't account for /bin/. However, when coming from a Bionic system, /bin/ is an actual folder instead of a symlink (as expected on a fresh Focal machine). + This happens because of the usr-merge effort. On fresh focal systems, we have symlinks replacing top-level directories like /bin, /sbin, and others: + root@f-pristine:~# ls -la /{bin,lib,lib*,sbin} + lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 May 24 21:40 /bin -> usr/bin + lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 May 24 21:40 /lib -> usr/lib + lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 May 24 21:40 /lib -> usr/lib + lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 May 24 21:40 /lib32 -> usr/lib32 + lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 May 24 21:40 /lib64 -> usr/lib64 + lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 May 24 21:40 /libx32 -> usr/libx32 + lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 May 24 21:40 /sbin -> usr/sbin + + In bionic, these are actual directories: + root@b:~# ls -lad /{bin,lib,lib*,sbin} + drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2472 Jun 7 2023 /bin + drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 438 Jun 7 2023 /lib + drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 438 Jun 7 2023 /lib + drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 40 Jun 7 2023 /lib64 + drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3694 Jun 7 2023 /sbin + + In a focal system that was upgraded from bionic, the usr-merge is not + done, and this focal system will retain the bionic top-level + directories. + Logs: 2024-05-24 03:09:16,344:WARNING:root:XXX apparmor DENIED begin - 2024-05-24 03:09:16,344:WARNING:root:May 24 03:09:09 rtp kernel: [237304.232128] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530949.314:82839): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_esm_cache" name="/bin/uname" pid=108713 comm="python3" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=100 ouid=100 - May 24 03:09:09 rtp kernel: [237304.261953] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530949.346:82840): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_apt_news" name="/bin/uname" pid=108714 comm="python3" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=100 ouid=100 - May 24 03:09:09 rtp kernel: [237304.456301] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530949.538:82841): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_esm_cache//cloud_id" name="/bin/uname" pid=108719 comm="cloud-id" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=100 ouid=100 - May 24 03:09:09 rtp kernel: [237304.514651] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530949.598:82842): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_esm_cache//cloud_id" name="/bin/systemctl" pid=108721 comm="cloud-id" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=100 ouid=100 - May 24 03:09:11 rtp kernel: [237306.797550] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530951.878:82843): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_esm_cache" name="/bin/uname" pid=109364 comm="python3" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=100 ouid=100 - May 24 03:09:11 rtp kernel: [237306.827422] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530951.910:82844): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_apt_news" name="/bin/uname" pid=109365 comm="python3" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=100 ouid=100 - May 24 03:09:12 rtp kernel: [237307.022790] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530952.106:82845): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_esm_cache//cloud_id" name="/bin/uname" pid=109370 comm="cloud-id" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=100 ouid=100 - May 24 03:09:12 rtp kernel: [237307.074546] audit: type=1400 audit(1716530952.158:82846): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-upro-behave-bionic-system-under-test-0524-025458284620_" profile="ubuntu_pro_esm_cache//cloud_id" name="/bin/s
[Bug 2063983] Re: 24.04 Upgrade/Fresh Install results in black screen on reboot on AMDGPU system
I have the same issue on Xubuntu 6700XT system after upgrading from 23.10 to 24.04. Reboot after upgrade worked and then got the issue on the 2nd boot. Removing "splash" from grub works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063983 Title: 24.04 Upgrade/Fresh Install results in black screen on reboot on AMDGPU system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2063983/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
