[Bug 1678064] [NEW] Attempting to install to a single btrfs root partition crashes the installer
You have been subscribed to a public bug: If I create a single partition, type btrfs mounted as /, the installer takes me briefly to the next screen to input user details, but crashes as I enter my name. The error detail box is empty. Partition details: http://people.canonical.com/~barryprice/subi1.png Error screen: http://people.canonical.com/~barryprice/subi2.png This is running under kvm on an amd64 system, via: $ qemu-img create -f raw target.img 10G $ kvm -m 1024 -cdrom custom.iso -hda target.img Performing exactly the same actions but choosing ext4 rather than btrfs works fine. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Assignee: Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre (cyphermox) Status: Fix Released ** Tags: zesty -- Attempting to install to a single btrfs root partition crashes the installer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1678064 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1988887] Re: Missing build dependency
As far as I know, package python3-importlib-resources is not needed as long as the python version is 3.9 or later. As a result, it shall not be an issue with the recently-released Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and the ongoing development. Since packages are build automatically using the automated environment, having built package present means that the build-dependency is satisfied at the time of package build. As a result, I consider your bug report here to be invalid. If you find out that the build will indeed fail on a certain previously- released Ubuntu version, please feel free to make further comments and reopen this bug. For now, I am marking this bug report as invalid since it does not contain necessary information for me to reproduce this bug. ** Changed in: python-importlib-metadata (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197 Title: Missing build dependency To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-importlib-metadata/+bug/197/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2067816] [NEW] Delayed audio start/stop after Ubuntu 24.04 upgrade, slow pipewire
Public bug reported: Anytime I either * make any bell noise in my gnome terminal, or * mute/unmute/change volume in gnome, or * start, pause or continue a video on firefox I get 1) the quiet but audible pop that you hear when audio is unmuted 2) **a ~5 second (!) delay** 3) the sound playing When stopping the sound, the same happens in reverse order, with a shorter delay. I suspect that the audio system (pipewire) is opening and closing an interface, and has perhaps some driver issues? How can I debug this annoying delay? journalctl shows during such an event: ``` Mai 28 21:46:42 generic kernel: cs35l41-hda spi0-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.0: Requesting Firmware Load after HDA_GEN_PCM_ACT_CLOSE Mai 28 21:46:42 generic kernel: cs35l41-hda spi0-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.1: Requesting Firmware Load after HDA_GEN_PCM_ACT_CLOSE Mai 28 21:46:42 generic kernel: cs35l41-hda spi0-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.0: Bypassing Firmware. [Bug 2003204] Re: Update git because of CVE-2022-23521
As shown at https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2022-23521, Canonical *did* provide a fix for this, including for the three versions of Ubuntu mentioned here (18.04 bionic, 20.04 focal, 22.04 jammy). That Ubuntu Security Notice was published a day before this bug report was opened, and unless I'm missing something, it looks like this bug report was based on a misconception about how security patches and their associated versioning works. Most security patches in Debian, Ubuntu, and most (though not all) distros are are provided as patched versions that add only the fix for the security vulnerability, without new feature changes. In Ubuntu, this relates to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates. That is what https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/git/+bug/2003204/comments/1 above is referring to. The fixed packages' version numbers did not match the expectation expressed in the bug description here, but they did fix the bug. Of course, it can still be valuable to use ppa:git-core/ppa if one wants the *features* of a new git version, such as performance, additional options, more user-friendly messages, and so forth. But getting fixes for security vulnerabilities does not generally require this, and did not require it in the case of CVE-2022-23521. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2003204 Title: Update git because of CVE-2022-23521 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/git/+bug/2003204/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The issue here is that apt is forced to remove libreadline8 to allow installing libreadline8t64. The user has gawk installed which has the higher priority for awk. gawk is not essential so it doesn't have the immediate handling of an essential package. The python3-uno package uses awk in its preinst which fails due to the forced removal of libreadline8. The only way out of this issue is to use explicitly mawk in the maintainer script which is Essential. The use of awk doesn't work because it's not an Essential facility (as it may be provided by gawk), and you don't want to depend on gawk since you don't use gawk specifically, and a dependency on awk would be satisfied by mawk. ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2067762 Title: package python3-uno 4:24.2.3-0ubuntu0.24.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: new python3-uno package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/2067762/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2067785] [NEW] Improve power consumption of Broadcom CV3 Plus Device
Public bug reported: [ Impact ] * Upstream commit: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libfprint/libfprint/-/commit/eaec2339ccaee64b2bdb1d1e27f51ada673e4087 * Add new Broadcom device IDs in order to reduce the power consumption on the target machine. * It might consume more power if the IDs are not in the list. [ Test Plan ] * Install package on laptop with either IDs list below, and check USB_DEVICE/power/control is auto or on. * usb:v0A5Cp5860* usb:v0A5Cp5863* usb:v0A5Cp5864* usb:v0A5Cp5865* usb:v0A5Cp5866* usb:v0A5Cp5867* [ Where problems could occur ] * Should be low because these IDs only affect on the machine with those Broadcom devices and it improves the power consumption. ** Affects: libfprint (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Andy Chi (andch) Status: New ** Affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Andy Chi (andch) Status: New ** Affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Mantic) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Andy Chi (andch) Status: New ** Affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Andy Chi (andch) Status: New ** Affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Oracular) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Andy Chi (andch) Status: New ** Also affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Oracular) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libfprint (Ubuntu Mantic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: libfprint (Ubuntu Jammy) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Chi (andch) ** Changed in: libfprint (Ubuntu Mantic) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Chi (andch) ** Changed in: libfprint (Ubuntu Noble) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Chi (andch) ** Changed in: libfprint (Ubuntu Oracular) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Chi (andch) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2067785 Title: Improve power consumption of Broadcom CV3 Plus Device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libfprint/+bug/2067785/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2065780] Re: mouse cursor turns into big white square on pwr resume
The problem occurs after the Video output to the monitor is switched off (the LCD monitor said it was powering off) following the gradual fade out of the login screen. i.e. I guess this is when the video card is put into deep sleep or power saving mode? The photo attached was taken after I pressed the docking station power on button to wake the laptop up (wagging the mouse did nothing, so I assume the laptop had gone into a deep sleep state or whatever Ubuntu does when the laptop isn't used for a long time. So it looks like whenever the mouse cursor pointer is stored, that location loses its memory when the laptop sleeps, and then when it wakes up, you end up with a big white square instead of the mouse pointer image. ** Attachment added: "Photo of laptop deep sleep square mouse cursor on waking." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2065780/+attachment/5784969/+files/AfterFadeAndVideoOff.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2065780 Title: mouse cursor turns into big white square on pwr resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2065780/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
