[Bug 1032299] Re: REGRESSION: Display does not wake after suspend on E6500
I recently "upgraded" to 12.04.4 on my Dell E6500 (on which I had 10.04.4 running quite smoothly for years) and this bug has bitten me and so far none of the resolutions I've found & tried via various forums has worked to resolve it. [Bug 722377] Re: [Firmware Bug]: Duplicate ACPI video bus devices for the same VGA controller. Switch display Fn button not working on Dell e6400
Hi folks, This bug also a problem on the Dell E6500, and possibly the entire E6xxx series (as well as precision, Inspiron, and other more recent Dells). There are many questions about it in ubuntuforums.org if you search around, plus this Bug #722377 essentially is a duplicate of.. switching to external VGA monitor does not work anymore on dell precision M4400 and Ubuntu 10.04 Bug #585258 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/585258 I've recently posted this.. [ubuntu] 10.4 upgrade - Fn F8 (external monitor flip) not working (post #7) http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11176214&postcount=7 ..where I note that it appears that the scancodes that are issued by the Dell E6500 keyboard are now different than the ones that were issued by my Dell D820 (and on which fn+f8 external monitor switch works with 10.04.x). Is the keyboard driver and its default keymaps bound into the kernel? If so that'd explain Lucio Crusca's (in Bug #585258) observations of the behavior being different with only booting different kernel revs. For a workaround is it possible to dynamically load a new keymap that'd fix this problem? [Bug 44562] Re: [nvidia] Switch user causes screen resolution to change
Bryce, You have made a mockery of this bug reporting system by first trying to close this bug without resolution (only an assumption of resolution) and now determining which package the bug should go against without proper triage or problem determination. In any case it probably does not matter as this issue either does not effect that large of a population and/or does not warrant attention from the Ubuntu community. Unfortunately this issue was a deal breaker for me and I have had to move on away from Hardy. If in the future you need my assistance to work on this bug, please let me know. Here's is the output from a failed start: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ *** glibc detected *** quicksynergy: free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x080f54e8 *** === Backtrace: = /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6[0xb773e7cd] /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(cfree+0x90)[0xb7741e30] quicksynergy[0x804a06b] quicksynergy[0x804afa2] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID+0x49)[0xb78cc9d9] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_closure_invoke+0x12b)[0xb78bf62b] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0[0xb78d0103] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit_valist+0x8c7)[0xb78d1627] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit+0x29)[0xb78d17e9] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_button_clicked+0x53)[0xb7c4c163] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0[0xb7c4ddae] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID+0x49)[0xb78cc9d9] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0[0xb78bde49] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_closure_invoke+0x12b)[0xb78bf62b] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0[0xb78d059a] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit_valist+0x8c7)[0xb78d1627] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit+0x29)[0xb78d17e9] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_button_released+0x53)[0xb7c4c1f3] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0[0xb7c4c251] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(_gtk_marshal_BOOLEAN__BOXED+0x60)[0xb7d1c6b0] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0[0xb78bde49] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_closure_invoke+0x12b)[0xb78bf62b] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0[0xb78d0753] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit_valist+0x68f)[0xb78d13ef] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit+0x29)[0xb78d17e9] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0[0xb7e30e18] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_propagate_event+0x183)[0xb7d159c3] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_main_do_event+0x317)[0xb7d16bc7] /usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0[0xb7b9812a] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_context_dispatch+0x182)[0xb7845df2] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0[0xb7848dcf] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_loop_run+0x1a9)[0xb7849179] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_main+0xb4)[0xb7d17044] quicksynergy[0x804c0d4] /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xdc)[0xb76ecebc] quicksynergy[0x8049a31] === Memory map: 08048000-08052000 r-xp 08:03 3031067/usr/bin/quicksynergy 08052000-08053000 rw-p a000 08:03 3031067/usr/bin/quicksynergy 08053000-08105000 rw-p 08053000 00:00 0 [heap] b710-b7121000 rw-p b710 00:00 0 b7121000-b720 ---p b7121000 00:00 0 b72ea000-b72f5000 r-xp 08:03 1916942/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 b72f5000-b72f6000 rw-p a000 08:03 1916942/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 b7302000-b7362000 rw-s 00:08 8388644/SYSV (deleted) b7362000-b7364000 r-xp 08:03 4571989 /usr/lib/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so b7364000-b7365000 rw-p 1000 08:03 4571989 /usr/lib/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so b7365000-b73a9000 r--p 08:03 295769 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/Arial.ttf b73a9000-b73af000 r--s 08:03 2359450 /var/cache/fontconfig/945677eb7aeaf62f1d50efc3fb3ec7d8-x86.cache-2 b73af000-b73b r--s 08:03 2359465 /var/cache/fontconfig/fd9505950c048a77dc4b710eb6a628ed-x86.cache-2 b73b-b73b3000 r--s 08:03 2359406 /var/cache/fontconfig/ddc79d3ea06a7c6ffa86ede85f3bb5df-x86.cache-2 b73b3000-b73b4000 r--s 08:03 2359412 /var/cache/fontconfig/e7071f4a29fa870f4323321c154eba04-x86.cache-2 b73b4000-b73b5000 r--s 08:03 2359433 /var/cache/fontconfig/a2ab74764b07279e7c36ddb1d302cf26-x86.cache-2 b73b5000-b73b9000 r--s 08:03 2359427 /var/cache/fontconfig/921a30a17f0be15c70ac14043cb7a739-x86.cache-2 b73b9000-b73ba000 r--s 08:03 2359414 /var/cache/fontconfig/4c73fe0c47614734b17d736dbde7580a-x86.cache-2 b73ba000-b73bc000 r--s 08:03 2359401 /var/cache/fontconfig/646addb8444faa74ee138aa00ab0b6a0-x86.cache-2 b73bc000-b73be000 r--s 08:03 2359459 /var/cache/fontconfig/20bd79ad97094406f7d1b9654bfbd926-x86.cache-2 b73be000-b73bf000 r--s 08:03 2359404 /var/cache/fontconfig/75a2cd575a62c63e802c11411fb87c37-x86.cache-2 and here is my quicksynergy and synergy conf files... quicksynergy.conf: Left -t40 KeepRunning 1 synergy.conf: section: screens godzilla: ***-t40: end section: links godzilla: left = ***-t40 ***-t40: right = godzilla end I have observed that numerous restarts of QS MAY get it working again.
