[Bug 279204] [NEW] After fetching latest package lists in Adept, you can select apply changes when no changes have been selected

2008-10-06 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

When you fire up Adept and go to the changes tab, you'll see that
Apply Changes is grayed out. You have not selected any changes is
displayed.

After refreshing the package lists, if you return to the changes tab,
you can click on Apply Changes even though you haven't selected any
changes. It still says You have not selected any changes. Clicking
Apply Changes in this case doesn't appear to do anything and if you
return to the changes tab afterward, you'll see that Apply Changes
is once again grayed out.

This bug certainly isn't critical, but it should be fixed so that new
users don't get confused. The Adept installer exhibits the same behavior
with its preview tab.

[Bug 279209] [NEW] After clicking an Adept tag that yields no results and attempting to enter any text into the search bar, Adept crashes

2008-10-06 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

I'm running Kubuntu Intrepid.

This is a very strange bug. I discovered it while attempting to use
Adept's tags to find an e-mail client that was NOT command-line. I
clicked the not command-line tag and then started to enter e-mail
client in the search bar...but as soon as I typed in the e, Adept
crashed. Even after repeated attempts, it still did the same thing over
and over.

I went back and did some more testing. Apparently, this behavior is
exhibited any time a tag(s) is selected such that no packages are
yielded and you attempt to type anything into the search bar.

[Bug 276880] [NEW] When Akregator tray icon is clicked when Akregator is open, it does not minimize

2008-10-01 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: akregator

I'm running Kubuntu Intrepid.

I believe that the tray icon for Akregator is incorrectly configured. In
other applications which have a tray icon, clicking the tray icon when
the application is open minimizes the application. When I do this for
Akregator, the window disappears for a split-second and then re-appears

appropriate Adept icon and the other has the icon of a page with a

I tried running opening a composer window by itself with the same
results. There must be something that sets it off when you use KMail to

I agree that this is a very important bug to fix. Kubuntu has an image
problem as it is and something like this making it through would only
make things worse.

[Bug 276591] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) When I run dolphin as root, the folders view is blank exhibits bizarre behavior

2008-09-30 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dolphin

I've been running Dolphin as root a lot recently. I have a backup hard
drive which is inaccessible unless Dolphin is run as root, although I've
read that this is fixed in the upcoming beta. Mega props to the
appropriate people for that upcoming fix.

After applying the latest updates, however, I ran Dolphin as root and
noticed that the Folders view was completely blank.

If I click on Network, Network Shares and Samba Shares pops up in
the Folders view like it should. From this point, if you try to click on
anything else, it will either A) make the Folders view go blank again or
B) everything will display as normal no matter what you click on, but
this fix only lasts until you close Dolphin.

If I click on Root without clicking Network or Trash first,
nothing happens. If I click Root after clicking Network or Trash,
the Folders view gets fixed and displays everything as normal no matter
what you click on. However, this only lasts until you close Dolphin. If
I run it as root again, I'll have to click on Root to fix the
problem again.

If I click on anything else, the blank Folders view persists.

Sometimes, the error The process for the file protocol died
unexpectedly shows up. Sometimes it doesn't. This is so weird that I
don't really know what to make of it.

[Bug 276593] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) When I run OpenOffice.org Writer, I get visual corruption outside of the Writer window

2008-09-30 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer

Any time I run OpenOffice.org Writer, I get some very strange behavior.

If I move my mouse around within the OO.o Writer window, everything
works as it should. However, if I move my mouse outside the window,
visual corruption occurs wherever my mouse goes. I've attached a
screenshot of one example where I've moved my mouse around in the bottom
part of my screen.

I experienced this behavior in OpenOffice 2.4 Writer and now with
OpenOffice 3.0 Writer since upgrading to it.

By the way, out of curiosity, is OpenOffice really supposed to look like
that under Kubuntu? I hope it just didn't install correctly or something

[Bug 275191] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) In Adept search tab, inappropriate spacing of package descriptions

2008-09-27 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

When I look through my packages in Adept's search tab and click on some
of them, there is an inordinate amount of spacing in the package
descriptions. This spacing comes in two flavors, both of which I show in
the included images.

In the picture titled Example One, I show what I see when I click on
the package for OpenOffice. There's so much spacing that I can't even
see the description or the install/remove button.

In the picture titled Example Two, I show what I see when I click on
the package for Amarok. In addition to having way too much space
separating the description from the version, the description has way too
much spacing between words.

[Bug 275196] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) In Adept search tab, after clicking on a package and scrolling down, info display disappears

2008-09-27 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

This bug goes hand-in-hand with the bug I just reported, bug #275191.

As things currently stand in my system, when I view my packages in
Adept's search tab, there's way too much spacing and the info often runs
off the screen. However, when I try to scroll down to see it, the info
disappears!

Look at the picture I've attached, Example One. This is what I see when
I click on the OpenOffice package. There's so much spacing that I can't
see anything, so naturally, I'd like to scroll down to see it...but when
I click on the scroll button just once to scroll it down, the whole
thing disappears. I don't see the OpenOffice package or any part of
its description. If I scroll back up again, I get what you see in
Example One again.

This happens with a lot of other packages I have installed, so info
displays must not be scrolling properly.

launch. I see that there's already an entry for it in Input Actions, so
it -should- work... but it doesn't.

[Bug 275218] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) KMail crashes when I create a new message and try to access the body of the message

2008-09-27 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

This one's pretty simple. Whenever I go to write a new e-mail and try to
access the body of the message, whether by clicking on it or tabbing
in to it, KMail crashes.

This behavior is NOT exhibited with existing e-mails, IE when trying to
reply/forward.

This one is pretty self-explanatory. I've tried accessing the more
link with various applications in different categories, but none of them
seem to function.

[Bug 275226] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) Volume control icon in tray is a white square

2008-09-27 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

I assume that the volume control icon should be something other than a
white square. I've tried changing icon themes and it's still a white
square, so I don't think that this has to do with the Oxygen icon theme.

[Bug 275232] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) Icon GHNS doesn't throw error when it can't d/l a theme

2008-09-27 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: systemsettings

When I go into System Settings - Appearance - Icons and click Get New
Themes, I get shown a list of the available themes. If you try to
install an icon theme that is hosted on a web site like Mediafire, it
waits a few seconds and then changes the install option to uninstall
just as if it was installed...but it isn't. This would be absolutely
maddening to new users who don't know any better.

I assume that GHNS won't work with files hosted on a service like
Mediafire. If that's the case, GHNS needs to alert you that it can't
download the icon theme. Maybe it could also offer to pull up its KDE-
look page in your web browser so that you can download it yourself.

[Bug 274467] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) After editing software sources in Adept and closing the window, Adept remains unresponsive

2008-09-25 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

I just applied the latest round of updates, one of which apparently
filled in Adept's missing ability to edit software sources.

When I click the Edit Software Sources button, a new window pops up
which lets me edit my sources. When I close this new window, the main
Adept window remains grayed out and unresponsive just as if the Edit
Software Sources window was still open.

The attached screenshot is a picture of Adept after I've clicked the
Edit Software Sources button and then closed the window that pops up.

[Bug 273351] [NEW] (Kubuntu Intrepid) Thunderbird says it's already running but isn't

2008-09-22 Thread 1cewolf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

I installed Thunderbird version 2.0.0.16+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 using Adept,
but when I try to run it, it always throws up this error:

Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new
window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or
restart your system.

Neither option is valid. Thunderbird is NOT running and restarting
doesn't seem to do anything.
