2013-10-10 Thread 2green
Retested on 13.10, problem stil exists... although it is slightly
improved. Everything seems to minimize except the dash screen. Looks
better this way, but still blocks and efficient workprocess.

[Bug 1162152] Re: startup disk creator / formating usb drive not working

2013-10-10 Thread 2green
Retested on 13.10 beta, problem stil exists.

On a side note... this app got even worse in 13.10, after formatting it
with partition magic I can't use it to write a iso to any stick I have.
This app has not been working for several ubuntu releases now. If its
not important enough to have, than remove it from the distro.

My suggestion is to remove this app and have unetbootin by default. With
an on time only code change unetbooting can be as easy. Besides a
working app this helps reducing the ammount of code maintanance (one
crappy app less).

[Bug 1059543] Re: GUI - Invisible GUI elements [Lubuntu]

2013-10-10 Thread 2green
Retested on 13.10, problem stil exists... seems related to my hardware.
It also occurs on other distro. Having said this, I strongly recommend
closing this bug (won't fix) because its only related to very old
hardware.

Not my call though...

hovering above them (see screen shot)

2013-02-08 Thread 2green
Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 can not format a usb stick or drive without using
the terminal.

In day to day use this function is used a lot by users to clean the
drive before adding new data like pictures etc.

I'll use the terminal for this, but some people will return to windows
for this.

[Bug 1074844] Display resolutions missing on external VGA display [regressing]

2012-12-24 Thread 2green
On launchpad they requested to report this bug upstream. Please let me know
if any information is missing.

[1.] One line summary of the problem:
Display resolutions missing on external VGA display [regressing]

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:

The bug description can be found at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1074844

[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):
-

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):
Originally discovered on ubuntu 12.10, but also tested with mainline kernel
3.7 rc7. Currently I'm on Linux version:

3.8.0-030800rc1-generic (root@gomeisa) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro
4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #201212212135 SMP Sat Dec 22 02:36:00 UTC 2012

[5.] Output of Oops.. message
-

[6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if
possible)
The problem occurs while connecting the display, in earlier ubuntu
versions a much higher resolution was default selected. Manually selecting
a higher display resolution is also not possible because higher resolution
are not present.

[7.] Environment
Description: Ubuntu 12.10
Release: 12.10

[7.1.] Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here)

[Bug 1063804] Re: [HP Compaq 6710b] Fn+F9/Fn+F10 keys for brightness not working [regression][12.10]

2012-11-05 Thread 2green
Christopher, just tested with RC4. With this kernel the problem is
fixed.

Didn't know what to do with bug report. For now i've set it on
confirmed.

I'm going back to stable kernel 3.5 inless you have other tests to run
for me.

p.s.
brightness settings are also solved with kernel 3.7, is there a need for me to
report this? Does it help anyone?

2012-11-04 Thread 2green
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected running-unity

** Description changed:

The fn keys for brightness on my HP Compaq 6710b are not working. On
ubuntu 12.04 this worked fine, now with 12.10 its doesn't.

Related is the problem that the brightness setting is reset to 50% after
rebooting or pluging in the power adapter.

2012-11-04 Thread 2green
@Christopher M. Penalver:

Thanks for the apport instructions. Apport information is added.

Just retested with kernel 3.7 rc3. This solves a part of the problem.
With kernel 3.7 rc3 my brightness settings are remembered. But using the
Fn+F9 keys to decrease brightness and Fn+F10 to increase brightness
still has no result.

+ Window minimize, maximize, close and resize sometimes not working

** Summary changed:

- Window minimize, maximize, close and resize sometimes not working
+ GUI - Minimize, maximize, close and resize of windows sometimes not working

** Description changed:

- Minimize, maximize, close and resize no longer works after opening
- several torrents with Transmission. Before opening several torrents the
- windows could still be resized, etc.
+ Minimize, maximize, close and resize no longer work in several apps
+ after using Ubuntu for about 1 to 3 hours.

- This problem is reproducable after restarting the system. Also tried
- resetting transmission to default settings and cleaning the torrent
- list. The problem still returns.
+ For example: Before opening several torrents with transmission the
+ windows could still be resized, closed, etc. After opening several
+ torrents with Transmission the window of transmission and al other
+ application windows as wel where fixed (windows buttons disapeared and
+ resizing was no longer possible). Basically al windows changed to a
+ modal window.

- I also noticed I'm missing de min/maximize buttons on several other
- windows after this problem occurs.
+ This problem is reproducable after restarting the system. The best way
+ for me to reproduce is by opening several torrent with transmission, but
+ it seems to occur with other applications as well.
+
+ p.s.
+
+ I also noticed that the only application not having this problem is
+ google Chrome. The reason for this probably is that Google chrome
+ behaves different from other windows because it does not use ubuntu
+ windows buttons but keeps using the old style buttons on the right side
+ of the window.

[Bug 1072474] [NEW] Minimize, maximize, close and resize don't work after opening several torrents with Transmission

2012-10-28 Thread 2green
Public bug reported:

Minimize, maximize, close and resize no longer works after opening

[Bug 1059543] [NEW] GUI - gui elements are sometimes invisible [Lubuntu]

2012-10-01 Thread 2green
Public bug reported:

For example:

1) In openbox configuration manager the checkboxes are invisible until
hovering above them. In my case a few boxes are checked and only show a
white square until hovering above them. When hovering I see blue boxes
with a black mark in them.

2) in the default file manager folder and file icons are only show when
hovering above them (see screen shot)

3) An recently fixed issue, but related to the above on: In de start
menu the icons where sometimes invisible, but this seems to be fixes
with the last updates (a few days back this problem still occured).

Problem is reproducable on my second system.

[Bug 10905] Re: Keyboard shortcuts, window management - Can't use any global keyboard shortcuts or hotkeys when applet/menu is open

2012-06-18 Thread 2green
Strange enough in Xubuntu this problem does not occur with the date-time
settings in the upper right corner, while it does occur with any of the
other application indicators on Xubuntu. What's different about that
solution?

Maybe I'm missing something, just wanted to mention it in case it helps.

[Bug 1005312] Re: Shortcuts - shortcuts don't work when application indicators are visible

2012-06-15 Thread 2green
Omer, Xubuntu for example has this problem only partial.

E.g.
open firefox in ubuntu 12.04
Clicking on the time/data indicator in ubuntu 12.04 (upper right part of the
window) opens an indicator.
Now using ctrl-alt-D does NOT minimize firefox.

Doing this same thing in xubuntu DOES minimize firefox.

Note:
Some of the indicators from Xubuntu give the exact same problem we have in
ubuntu with unity, some other like data settings don't have this problem.

@Omer Akram,

Reading your argument I understand the relation with X makes it hard to
fix. But Invallid seems wrong, other window managers don't seem to have

- all screens and windows should be minimized when pressing ctrl-alt-d to
ensure an expected behavior when using this keyboard shortcut. Its also
neccessary for an efficient work process (kind of important on a desktop
computer).

[Bug 968231] Re: Incorrect work keyboard shortcuts in the main menu

2012-05-27 Thread 2green
Hello 7Azimuth,

Just retested this bugs following the steps you described on 12.04 with
latest updates.

1. open the main menu.
2. Go to the section Applications.
3. Press the Tab key to move down, and then press Shift+Tab key to move up and
see that the focus is lost when I move up.

With the latest updates of 12.04 this scenario no longer gives problems
because the 'shift' key tranfers the focus to the searchfield itself.

I'm closing this bug with the status 'fix commited'. Please change back
the status if I missed something of this problem still occurs on your
system.

Kinds regards,

John

Maximize the windowed app again (e.g. firefox)
Left click on 'time and date' in the upper right corner (leave the application
