[Bug 641712] Re: Not possible to enter password for a new user in KDM (Maverick)

2011-11-17 Thread A.B.
I'm having the same problem with Kubuntu 11.10. This seems like a long running
bug that nobody is paying attention to.
I found a workaround here:

[Bug 858122] Re: incomplete migration to /run (shutdown script order has been demolished)

2011-10-31 Thread A.B.
packrook solution worked for me. Thanks.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dbus/+bug/811441/comments/9

This is a serious bug brought down an important backup server. The
server was a standard Ubuntu server installation with only 1 foreign
repo (webmin). This doesn't look good for Ubuntu or Linux.

[Bug 145644] 2.6.20.16-server kernel does not rcognize XFS over RAID5

2007-09-27 Thread A.B.
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Server 7.04:

(/dev/md0) is a RAID 5 array of 4 x 300G SATA HDs formated as 1 XFS file
system. The XFS fs is mounted thorugh fstab using:

/dev/md0 /store xfs suid,dev,exec 0 0

fstab mounting and manual mounting works with no problem with the
2.6.20.15-server kernel.

After a kernel upgrade to 2.6.20.16-server on Sept 26, 2007 and a
reboot, mounting of the xfs fs fails. Manual mounting gives and XFS
error of "Bad or missing superblock". Reverting to 20.6.20.15-server
from GRUB solves the issue.

Best regards,
A.B.

[Bug 87063] Re: [needs-packaging] Please package php5-mssql

2007-08-04 Thread A.B.
I just want to add my voice to the need to package the MSSQL extension.
I think it would help Ubuntu to break into the server market (Ubuntu
specifically, not Linux). I have a very big client that uses MSSQL and
has no intention of changing to any other database system in the
foreseeable future. The system administrators were very open to setting
Linux PHP application servers and they specifically asked about Ubuntu
and because they heard good things about it. However having to compile
extensions for it is not an option for them. Having spend a couple of
days figuring out how to compile it myself I have to agree. So come
deployment time, if the extension isn't there in the repo they'll have
to look elsewhere.
