[Bug 416499] Re: Installer doesn't recognize Windows 7 NTFS partition properly
I've heard reports of this too. While I haven't had a chance to verify it myself, a user on IRC reported that this used to work with Windows 7 build 7100, but now fails with build 7600. He was testing originally on jaunty on a netbook LiveUSB. An in-line upgrade to karmic's ubiquity (1.99.28), ntfs, and partman utilities failed to resolve the problem. Once I can get a chance to recreate this problem, I can post more info. -- Installer doesn't recognize Windows 7 NTFS partition properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/416499 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 246141] Re: no support for realtek rtl8187se
Interesting. Note the staging directory though. I think that this is a preliminary step before full support is available. I'm curious to see how the linux kernel will merge the rtl8187se's ieee80211 stack with the existing kernel's stack. I attempted such a merge once, but found that the rtl8187se's code relied on non-standard ieee80211 code (hence the alternative stack) and I was really uninterested in rewriting the entire driver to make it work. :T -- no support for realtek rtl8187se https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246141 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 259878] Re: Please support EEEPC 901 Variant of the ALC269 snd_hda_intel
After applying the alsa_eeepc901_fix.diff patch, there are some specific alsamixer settings that need to be set on those new channels, otherwise the new channels wont actually record. (Note, most users cite Skype as their software use-case, Skype just seems to do the "right thing" when presented with these additional channels, hence the lack of earlier instructions:) ... Here's what I use to set the alsa channels on the command-line (the same can be performed with gnome-volume-control and alsamixer, but I find using this 'amixer' example as easier to get the point across): amixer sset "Input Source" "Front Mic" amixer sset "Capture" "80%" "cap" "unmute" amixer sset "Front Mic Boost" "30%" "unmute" amixer sset "Front Mic" "100%" "mute" Note1: That muted "Front Mic" refers to the output channel. Unmuting this will result in some nasty feedback between the internal mic and speakers. Note2: Running this command on Intrepid may also require "-c 0" before sset. It might have been my own wonky alpha5 install settings, but for some reason PulseAudio was the default card Note3: I *believe* these four channels are available on ANY eeepc (700-1000h) with the appropriate patch installed, however I only actually own a 900. [Bug 259878] Re: Please support EEEPC 901 Variant of the ALC269 snd_hda_intel
Earlier, Intrepid used Alsa v1.0.16. Now, Intrepid uses Alsa v1.0.17. Intrepid's alsa-kernel code does have support for the EeePC 901, However support for the 1000 is not yet included. According to git://git.alsa-project.org/alsa-kmirror.git this is provided by commit: 231d8534cf252135646b47e45e2149285b3df0ea : ALSA: hda - Add support of Quanta FL1 n.b.: commit 231d853 provided support for the Quanta FL1, however the author bundled the EeePC 1000 device/vendor id check in there too, subsequently treating it like a 901... Technically, only two lines of this commit need to be patched. So, If someone wanted to support the 1000 on v1.0.17, then they'd need to import commit 231d853, *OR* just this chunk (see attached). If Alsa v1.0.18 (or this patch) does not make it into Intrepid, then at worst the 1000 will not have Internal Microphone support, nor will the speakers/headphones mute/unmute properly. [Bug 126140] Re: snd_hda_intel fails to unload (or unload correctly) on shut down; laptop fails to halt
Tested on EeePC 900 (Realtek ALC62 rev1) using Hardy (Alsa 1.0.16) with the powersaving technique quoted by Sitsofe. This is still a problem. The device will not shutdown if snd_hda_intel is still loaded. Interesting side note #1: A known issue with snd_hda_intel is that the CPU never reaches C3 state while this module is loaded, according to powertop. Even after setting the power_save parameter, it never makes it there. Interesting side note #2: Forcing the module to reload with "sudo alsa force-reload" will allow the CPU to move into C3, but playing anything out out of the soundcard keeps something active in the module as the C3 state is no longer attainable. So, what's my point? :) ... See: http://www.itwriting.com/blog/778-fixing-wi-fi-on-asus-eee-pc-901-with- linux.html I had a look at Eric's repository that you just posted, Giovanni. This WEP/WPA patch is not yet included. I can post a comment to let him know about it. (The Asus patch provides the config option EEEPC_SPECIAL_SETTING. [Bug 261022] Re: "apt-get update" failure: hash sum mismatch
An "apt-get update" is not sufficient to solve this problem. There is a corruption in the cached package details delivered by the Live CD. This problem can be resolved by deleting all files from the following directories: /var/lib/apt/lists /var/lib/apt/lists/partial (remember to keep the 'parital' directory itself intact) This change should be made to the Live CD for RC2. The fix itself can also be applied to any installed copy of RC1 ** Also affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: ubuntu-eee Importance: Undecided => Critical Assignee: (unassigned) => Jon Ramvi (ramvi) Status: New => Triaged -- "apt-get update" failure: hash sum mismatch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/261022 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 259878] Re: Please support EEEPC 901 Variant of the ALC269 snd_hda_intel
The "Capture" channel may not be properly set. Have a look at this post: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?pid=347484#p347484 (BTW, since you're running 2.6.24-21-eeepc, check which version of linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-21-eeepc is installed. The latest is 2.6.24-21.30eeepc3, and its snd_hda_intel.ko module already has this patch. [Bug 259878] Re: Please support EEEPC 901 Variant of the ALC269 snd_hda_intel
Once you've compiled your patched alsa modules, you only need to replace snd_hda_intel.ko You can probably get away with replacing the version under /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/ubuntu/sound/alsa-driver/pci/hda/snd_hda_intel.ko with the new version. Once applied, you can probably get away with 'sudo alsa force-reload', however I found rebooting was safer. You'll know that it worked if you now see a 'Front Mic' and 'Front Mic Boost' as available mixer channels. Also, you should also see 'Headphone' as a variable output channel. -- Please support EEEPC 901 Variant of the ALC269 snd_hda_intel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/259878 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

>From what I've found, the EeePC 901/1000/1000h devices also have a similar problem with the internal microphone. I just upgraded to gutsy (tribe4) running 2.6.22 and found that the problem still exists. [Bug 85247] Re: bcm203x firmware will not load
Success! .. I backported drivers/bluetooth/bcm203x.c from 2.6.20 to 2.6.18 and recompiled the module within the 2.6.20 source. My BT-120 device is back online in fiesty! I'll attach a diff here of what I did, it's very straight forward. I still need to test to see if 2.6.21-rc2 or later already addresses this issue. Unfortunately, due to a lack of kernel hacking experience, I'm not sure if I can actually debug Marcel Holtmann's original check-in so that it properly loads the firmware using the correct "work queue" way :) ** Attachment added: "Backport drivers/bluetooth/bcm203x.c from 2.6.20 to 2.6.18" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7058766/bcm203x-2.6.20-backport.diff -- bcm203x firmware will not load https://launchpad.net/bugs/85247 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 85247] Re: bcm203x firmware will not load
I've had this same problem for a couple weeks now. After a little digging I believe that the likely culprit was introduced in 2.6.19. From that kernel's changelog: > commit 3f5306927d800306ebba542438cfdf1a1c418376 > Author: Marcel Holtmann > Date: Sun Oct 15 17:31:19 2006 +0200 > >[Bluetooth] Use work queue to trigger URB submission > >The bcm203x firmware loading driver uses a timer to trigger the >URB submission. It is better to use a work queue instead. > >Signed-off-by: Marcel Holtmann Right now I'm trying to build 2.6.20 without this specific check-in to see if this fixes things. FWIW, there appears to be another "bluetooth firmware" check-in, to 2.6.21-rc2, which may already fix the issue. I'll test that out next :) -- bcm203x firmware will not load https://launchpad.net/bugs/85247 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
