[Bug 84335] Installer partition editor does not set bootable flag

2007-02-09 Thread Adam Wiggins
Public bug reported:

When installing Ubuntu I like to use the graphical partition editor to
set up partitions. (I find that a / that is separate from /home is
preferable, because you can easily reinstall the OS without touching
user files.) This works great, except that the bootable flag is not set
on the first partition. There is no place to set it that I can see
("manage flags" is grayed out on new partitions). So this means that
when I reboot after reinstalling, it tells me "no bootable disc." I
have to use a rescue disc and run fdisk on the partition manually to set
the bootable flag.

** Affects: partitioner (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 75846] Save-as media file causes crash

2006-12-14 Thread Adam Wiggins
Public bug reported:

1. Go to: http://dusk.org/adam/tmp/ffbug.html

2. Click the link. It will try to play the file in Totem, and if you
haven't installed any extra packages, it will fail with a "Totem can't
play fd0://" message.

3. Click the browser back button.

4. Right click the link, Save As.

5. The dialog box will hang for a few seconds, and then the browser
crashes.

This is reproducible every time on my system. Completely up-to-date
Edgy, minimal extra pacakges installed, all Firefox extensions disabled.

Of course this happens on many other pages (GMail, for example, is where
I noticed it the most) but the example above is the most obvious. It
seems to happen with any file type, not just mp3.

which caused it to crash again, but this time it gave me the bug report

[Bug 34147] Re: Printing to iMac CUPS server searches for nonexistent hostname

2006-10-19 Thread Adam Wiggins
Yes, I just tested it. Here's a screeshot of the properties dialog
after the initial printer setup:

http://dusk.org/adam/tmp/cupshostname.png

After I edited /etc/hosts and added:

192.168.1.20 Mikes-iMac.local

...then it works perfectly. This is with an up-to-date Dapper, I should
be able to upgrade to Edgy in the coming week and try that.

[Bug 36592] Re: Crash when clicking New Printer twice

2006-08-17 Thread Adam Wiggins
I went through all the steps to install the debugging packages and guess
what - I can't reproduce it with those installed! Two double clicks
just gives two dialogs, as expected. When I restored the standard
package, the crash returned.

I did notice that the crash reported is in gnome-printer-view, rather
than gnome-cups-add as I might have expected.

Here is the debugging info it shows when I click "inform developers" and
then "show debugging details":
