[Bug 761065] Re: [Sandybridge] Spurious "*ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... blt ring idle" messages in dmesg when using compiz

2011-04-14 Thread Adilson Oliveira
I have the same issue here but I discovered that, if I run a 3D program like
celestia, nexuiz or even a 3d screensaver like one with the wireframe ant, the
problem vanishes with a -39 kernel. In a discussion with Chris Van Hoof today
he tells me he thinks the new kernel just masks the error but, at least to the
user's POV it actually solves it for the common applications the users run. I
kept nexuiz running for more than 2 hours and haven't noticed a single freeze.
I would like to ask the priority to be raised as this can affect many new
systems.

[Bug 103791] Re: [needs-packaging] pcsx2

2010-05-26 Thread Adilson Oliveira
When I did the first packaging attempt above, wy back in time, at
first I just created a starting point with no intention to go all the
way to include on the distro. After that I thought about it but never
really was happy with the MOTU/REVU process (I think Loic remembers how
I feel about it ;) ) so, if you guys want to do a proper work, please go
ahead. It's being ages that I don't do any packaging and I have no
interest at this time to do it.

[Bug 356794] [NEW] Instalation in pt_BR shows Noronha as the default timezone

2009-04-06 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

When Brazilian Portuguese is selected for instalation, the default timezone
shown is Noronha (GMT-2). This is not really wrong as this is a valid timezone
but very unusual. The usual one is São Paulo (GMT-3). This was the behaviour
with Hardy so it's a regression.
How to reproduce the bug:
 - Select Brazilian Portuguese as the instalation language.
 - Follow the steps until the selection of timezone.
 - The default timezone shown is Noronha.
What should the correct behaviour:
 - Select Brazilian Portuguese as the instalation language.
 - Follow the steps until the selection of timezone.
 - The default timezone shown is São Paulo.

[Bug 280289] [NEW] [intrepid beta] The instalation CD is not ejected when using an external USB DVD unit

2008-10-08 Thread Adilson Oliveira

moment the message to remove the CD from the tray and press ENTER to
reboot is displayed. The led on the external unit blinks several times
but the CD is not ejected. Pushing the eject button also does not work.
Pressing ENTER causes the netbook reboot normally and after that I can
eject the CD by pushing the eject button on the unit. The same issue

[Bug 253749] [NEW] [Intrepid] Even with instalation language set as pt_BR, USA keyboard was selected as default

2008-07-31 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

In a clean Intrepid Ibex Alpha 2 installation, I selected pt_BR (Brazilian
Portuguese) as the default language. When the keyboard selection screen
arrived, the USA (normal US version, not the international variation) was
selected instead of the "Brazil" version (which, BTW, is known as ABNT-2).
Unfortunately I can't provide any debug information right now but feel free to
ask any complementary information and I'll be glad to provide.

[Bug 251897] [NEW] 16Gb sdhc card is not correctly detected in Intrepid Ibex

2008-07-25 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.26-4-generic

Testing the instalation of Intrepid Ibex on a eeepc, I noticed that the a 16Gb
SDHC card wasn't being handled correctly. I could find the device's partitions
nodes but not the device node, i.e. /dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdb2 are there but not
/dev/sdb.
Cheking dmesg log gave me 2 strange lines after what seems to be a ok
attachement:
(12:34:05) agoliveira: Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]
(12:34:05) agoliveira: Add. Sense: Unrecovered read error.
Worth notice that the same procedure on Hardy works perfectly and the card
itself was tested.
Please find the relevant logs attached.
Thanks.

[Bug 217710] Re: dosemu.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in memcpy()

2008-05-02 Thread Adilson Oliveira
I know next to nothing about emulation but I believe that, if isn't possible
for dosemu to overcome this situation, at least a message giving a clue about
mmap_min_addr should be issued so the user can choose.
That's quite easy to do so, if you don't see any problems with that I'll do it
and add a patch here.

[Bug 223426] [NEW] At least one media player plugin for firefox should be installed by default.

2008-04-27 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Doing a clean installation of Ubuntu 8.04, I noticed that no media player
plugin is installed by default nor it's asked to do so if a page that needs
something like that is accessed.
This happens in pages that stream videos not flash-based IFAICT. In my personal
case, I rather use mplayer instead of toten so I just installed mozilla-mplayer
and all works fine now but I believe this should be done automatically.

[Bug 215821] [NEW] Bluetooth support not installed by default on Hardy

2008-04-11 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Noticed today that bluetooth wasn't active in my Asus G1 notebook
because bluez-utils wasn't installed. Once I installed the package the
device was correctly detected and bluetooth was activated. I can't be

bluetooth manager was available in the System/Preferences menu.

[Bug 213398] [NEW] Touchscreen configuration do not allow right-clicks with pen/stylus only

2008-04-07 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

The current xorg.conf file does not allow things like right-click or
drag-and-drop using pens or stylus only. This patch enables long-click

generating a right-click response.

[Bug 198861] Re: There's no flag to enable hildon interface when building for lpia

2008-03-12 Thread Adilson Oliveira
The difference is the way configure.ac works. If I use the --enable-ume
method, I explicitely say that I want that platform, the other way the
same flag works for maemo and ume builds but it's more confusing for the
one who looks at it for the first time so I'm switching to --enable-ume.
The precious was a bad choice.

[Bug 198861] Re: There's no flag to enable hildon interface when building for lpia

2008-03-12 Thread Adilson Oliveira
As I said, upstream support for maemo is very specific but we share many
things so I could have used --enable-ume as well. It was just a matter
of choice but you're right, --enable-ume makes more sense. I'll change
that.

[Bug 198861] Re: There's no flag to enable hildon interface when building for lpia

2008-03-12 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Thanks for the review.
I totally agree with your point 2 but right now I don't believe we have the
time to do it so, I would like to sugest we split the difference by fixing 1, 3
and 5 for now and leave 2 and 3 (which is a bit of an ugly hack I admit) for a
next release.
About the IFDEFs (which are connected to the item 2 as well), the problem is
that the upstream support for maemo is very specific and things we don't
support like GTK's tap-and-hold and osso_uri have to be disabled when building
it for UME. This item can be addressed later when some further granilarity will
be added. For now I believe is good enough in terms of funcitionality and speed
as one can't beat "done".

[Bug 194848] [NEW] hardy alpha 5 closes session after choose keyboard

2008-03-07 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Tested on a G1 notebook and Mac Mini, both dual core 2, 2G and 1G of ram, the
rest about the same hardware. Using the Hardy Alpha 5 AMD64 desktop disk, if
one try to install with any other language but English, if another keyboard
layout is choosen or if one continues with the default layout, the session
crashes and the user returns to GDM.
This looks like happen with i386 as well but I couldn't confirm it personally.

I'll try and post here later if I get it.

2008-02-28 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Hi Colin.

I tried again and when the crash happens, if I switch to a console, my monitor
goes blank and I can't get back. Try this way: at the first moment after the
boot choose brazilian portuguese, boot normally and start the instalation but
when you hit the keyboard part, choose USA.
Here it crashes every time.
I can't perform any more tests today, I will try to ssh to the box before start
the instaltion to get the logs during the weekend.

[Bug 183311] Kernel oops when pairing via bluetooth with cellphone

2008-01-15 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-3-generic

Notebook Asus G1 running Hardy Alpha 3, kernel 2.6.24-3-generic. Bluetooth
module don't report any errors but when trying to pair with a Motorolla cell
phone, the whole process goes well until the message that the pairing was done
shows up. At this moment the notebook freezes completely, there's no indication
of what the oops is related to. No traces on the logs and even ssh to the box
to try to catch something is useless, the system completely freezes becoming
irresponsive even to SysRq. The only indication of a kernel oops is the Caps
and Scroll leds flashing.
The same pairing procedure worked flawlessly with Gutsy.

[Bug 181512] asus-laptop display switching no longer works on Hardy

2008-01-09 Thread Adilson Oliveira
Public bug reported:

In an Asus G1 notebook with nvidia Go 7700, to switch to external monitors one
need the asus-laptop module instead of the default asus_acpi. Once it's
running, an echo 8 > /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/display switches to DVI
port and echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/display switches back to
the LCD. The asus-laptop module documentation shows all the possible
combinations.
Up to Gutsy this procedure worked nicelly, after update to Hardy Alpha 2
(kernel 2.6.24-3-generic) it stopped working.
I wasn't able to find any logs that might explain what's happening. The nvidia
driver works fine as I can switch using nvidia-settings.
