[Bug 1225169] Re: Spindown setting not applied on resume from sleep
Hi Ivan, You are right. The 'pm-utils' part in the path mislead me. I will report this bug under hdparm. ** Package changed: pm-utils (Ubuntu) = hdparm (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1225169 Title: Spindown setting not applied on resume from sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hdparm/+bug/1225169/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 595138] Re: Settings in /etc/hdparm.conf are not applied during boot
I can confirm that in 13.04 settings from /etc/hdparm.conf are indeed applied on boot from S5 state. However settings are still not applied when booting from S3 or S4 state. I am wondering if I need to create a new bug report for this behaviour... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/595138 Title: Settings in /etc/hdparm.conf are not applied during boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hdparm/+bug/595138/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 595138] Re: Settings in /etc/hdparm.conf are not applied during boot
I did some research and it turned out my issue is a device specific bug for certain Western Digital drives. I have posted a bug report and a work around under pm-tools: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /pm-utils/+bug/1225169 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/595138 Title: Settings in /etc/hdparm.conf are not applied during boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hdparm/+bug/595138/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1225169] [NEW] Spindown setting not applied on resume from sleep
Public bug reported: I am running pm-utils version 1.4.1-9git1ubuntu0.1 on Ubuntu 13.04. I have configured my hard disks to spin down in /etc/hdparm.conf. These settings are working when the system is booted from S5 or when the system is rebooted. However, when the system is resumed from S3 or S4 the hard disks will never spin down. I did some research and I found out the spin down settings are normally reapplied after resume by the script '/usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/95hdparm-apm'. The function 'resume_hdparm_spindown()' within this script checks if a device supports APM in line 65, before setting the spin down option. This is what is causing the problem on my system, which uses Western Digital WD20EARX hard disk drives. These drives do not support APM, but they actually do support spin down settings! As a workaround I have copied the '95hdparm-apm' file to '/etc/pm/sleep.d/95hdparm-apm' and commented out the APM check. ** Affects: pm-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: hdparm pm-utils -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1225169 Title: Spindown setting not applied on resume from sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/1225169/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1222364] [NEW] [edit-patch] Fails on creating new patch
Public bug reported: edit-patch exits when run on a source package using quilt without any existing patches. For example: cd ~ bzr init-repo powernap bzr branch ubuntu:powernap powernap.dev cd powernap.dev edit-patch temp The script exits without reason. Further examination shows that the script exits on the 'quilt top' command, which is returning a 2 error status. The 'set -e' command at the beginning of the 'edit-patch' script is the reason the script immediately exits as well. ** Affects: devscripts (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: edit-patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1222364 Title: [edit-patch] Fails on creating new patch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/devscripts/+bug/1222364/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Steps to reproduce: 1. sudo apt-get -y install powernap 2. sudo hdparm -S 60 /dev/sda (Sets spindown to 5 minutes for drive sda) 3. After 10 minutes: sudo hdparm -C /dev/sda Check if spindown is working 2. sudo hdparm -S 251 /dev/sda (Sets spindown to 5,5 hours) 4. sudo apt-get install -y powernap 5. add this to the [DiskMonitor] section of /etc/powernap/config: sda = y 6. sudo service powernap restart Expected behaviour: Powernap should not take any powersaving actions while the configured harddrive keeps spinning. Encountered behaviour: Powernap takes powersaving actions while the harddrive is still spinning. - + --- ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.1 Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release amd64 (20120424.1) MarkForUpload: True Package: powernap 2.17-0ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=nl_NL.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-38.61-generic 3.2.37 Tags: precise Uname: Linux 3.2.0-38-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo modified.conffile..etc.powernap.action: [modified] mtime.conffile..etc.powernap.action: 2013-02-22T12:13:28.452595 mtime.conffile..etc.powernap.config: 2013-02-22T13:10:37.516469 ** Changed in: powernap (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1131713 Title: DiskMonitor not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powernap/+bug/1131713/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
