Just adding to that, the trackpoint also works again.

2019-12-09 Thread Albert Pool
I just got the kernel installed. As I'm doing this on a xenial-based
system there are some incompatibilities (it seems to be unable to load
modules, so GPU acceleration and internet stop working), but the
touchpad is definitely working again.

2019-12-10 Thread Albert Pool
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1854798 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854798

Just discovered that the -73 kernel, due to being unable to load modules
on Xenial, uses PS/2 rather than RMI4 to drive the touchpad which works
around the bug in any case. Anyway, my problem is similar enough to
leave this as a duplicate. In case -73 when released for Xenial does not
fix the problem, I'll report here.

[Bug 1854798] Re: Synaptics s3203 touchpad not working after update to kernel 4.15.0-72-generic

2019-12-10 Thread Albert Pool
Just got the -73 kernel running properly on Xenial (it refused to load
modules at first)

The Synaptics TM3289-002 touchpad in my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th
generation works again.

Can someone with the right permissions mark at the top that the bug
equally affects Xenial?

[Bug 953875] Re: Encrypted swap no longer mounted at bootup

2016-05-09 Thread Albert Pool
Yes, that is a possible fix for the issue, but the point is, the bug has
been fixed on the newest releases but not on the 14.04 long term support
edition. As damien asked, I have not seen any news on this recently.
