[Bug 1969959] Re: Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)

2022-04-23 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Same here, trying the first stable live release of 22.04. I get a
weirdly saturated green-lime combo. Picture attached.

[Bug 1714222] Re: Cannot pull from gcrypt git remote since 17.04: No secret key

2017-11-29 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
I worked around this issue:

# update-alternatives --config pinentry
and select either the curses or gtk2 options (avoid the gnome3 one).

Also I had to reimport my gpg1 secret keyring into gpg2

Also I had to remove the [gcrypt] section in the repo: git config -e

At this point I think this was a problem of old configurations being
somehow improperly carried on and could be closed.

[Bug 1714222] [NEW] Cannot pull from gcrypt git remote since 17.04: No secret key

2017-08-31 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Public bug reported:

Since I upgraded to 17.04 my gcrypted remotes can't be pulled from. I
get this error:

$ git pull
gpg: Oops: keyid_from_fingerprint: no pubkey

This might or not be related to bug 1647364.

Doing the same in a 16.04 schroot works as expected.

While attempting to gain some information I tried to create a repository
from scratch:

1. Create empty repo somewhere (in my case bitbucket)
2. Create empty local repository, add the gcrypt remote:

$ git remote add origin gcrypt::g...@bitbucket.org:amosteo/test.git

3. Make a local commit and push it (this worked, I got a pop-up window
instead of being prompted in the command line like in <17.04):

$ git push --set-upstream origin master
gcrypt: Repository not found: g...@bitbucket.org:amosteo/test.git
gcrypt: Setting up new repository
gcrypt: Remote ID is :id:o+7umMvaOYf/7p48+Img
Counting objects: 3, done.
Total 3 (delta 0), reused 0 (delta 0)
gcrypt: Encrypting to: --throw-keyids --default-recipient-self
gcrypt: Requesting manifest signature
To bitbucket.org:amosteo/test.git
 * [new branch] master -> master
Branch master set up to track remote branch master from origin.

4. Doing a pull fails again (same happens for push):

$ git pull
gcrypt: Decrypting manifest
gpg: decryption failed: No secret key
gcrypt: Failed to decrypt manifest!

Note that this error is different to the one in my old repositories, but
I think it's simply because I have this in the older repositories
config:

gcrypt.participants=
gcrypt.publish-participants=true

Any advice on how to further investigate this is welcome. Some version
details:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 17.04
Release:17.04

$ apt policy git-remote-gcrypt
git-remote-gcrypt:
  Installed: 1.0.1-1

This happens to me in several machines (all the ones that I have
upgraded to 17.04).

[Bug 1682193] Re: Mouse acceleration significantly reduced after upgrade to 17.04

2017-08-10 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
#27, just to add to my previous post a few months ago, removing xserver-
xorg-input-libinput AND installing xserver-xorg-input-evdev fixed it for
me in several machines. What I additionally found is that the latter
package does not come preinstalled and just removing libinput will leave
you mouse/keyboardless in X.

Just to confirm that removing xserver-xorg-input-libinput solved the
issue without [immediately evident] side effects. I had to reconfigure
the mouse speed in the GUI.

[Bug 1683435] [NEW] Mouse speed/acceleration ignored in 17.04

2017-04-17 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 17.04 my mouse (a plain Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical
Mouse) is much slower and nothing I do changes its speed.

Tried through the settings GUI, using xset and using xinput. Nothing
seems to do anything. The only thing that offers some feedback is
xinput, that complaints about a value out of range:

$ xinput --set-prop 8 289 2
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 131 (XInputExtension)
Minor opcode of failed request: 57 ()
  Value in failed request: 0x121
Serial number of failed request: 19
Current serial number in output stream: 20
where 8 is the device id, 289 is the "libinput Accel Speed", and 2 is the
desired multiplier:

$ xinput --list --short
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse id=8[slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=7[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Media Center Ed. eHome Infrared Remote Transceiver (185b:3020)id=9
[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ LITEON Technology USB Multimedia Keyboard id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Nuvoton w836x7hg Infrared Remote Transceiver id=11 [slave
keyboard (3)]

Basically I can set that value in the range 0..1, with no effect
(although it is reported correctly by xinput --list-props), or outside
and getting the error. Likewise, changing values with xset shows them as
changed, but the mouse is oblivious to it.

Finally, I tried in a live USB and at least via the settings GUI there's no
noticeable difference between either extreme setting of the slider.

[Bug 1647364] Re: gnupg: No secret key (gpg-agent / pinentry interaction issue)

2016-12-17 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Same here since upgrade to 16.10, working in the command line.

I've tried installing pinentry-gnome3 1.0.0-1 from the Z release without
success.

When encrypting, no default recipient is detected due to a supposed
missing private key. I can still encrypt when asked for recipients in
the command line, giving my ID:

$ touch x
$ gpg -e x
gpg: Oops: keyid_from_fingerprint: no pubkey
You did not specify a user ID. (you may use "-r")

Current recipients:

Enter the user ID. End with an empty line:

When decrypting I'm not asked for any keys, just getting this error:

$ gpg -d x.gpg
gpg: encrypted with 4096-bit ELG key, ID , created 2016-09-15
  (personal info removed here)
gpg: decryption failed: No secret key

Everything works normally in a Trusy schroot in the same machine, using
the same .gnupg folder.

I hadn't heard about pinentry until reading this bug report, anyway.
Never used it.

[Bug 1589491] [NEW] Kernel memory leak: swap in use without obvious program using it

2016-06-06 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Public bug reported:

I don't know how to diagnose this problem and internet searches do not
give clear pointers: resource usage programs (free, top, htop) report
huge total swap usage (growing over time until all swap space is
exhausted), but no application is using unusual amounts of memory. In
other words, memory seems to be being lost without being associated to
some process.

I don't now if this could be the fault of the kernel, some module, or
something else. I would appreciate any pointers on how to try to
pinpoint the culprit.

The bug has been filed with ubuntu-bug so all process memory usage
should be included. As I write, I see around 4G of swap used, and the
program using the most is using ~80MB only. Certainly, the aggregated
swap seen with top in programs is nowhere near 4G.

The swap use seems legit, since once the swap space is reported
exhausted, the computer starts being less responsive, until I reboot.

[Bug 1543210] Re: glances crashes with utf-8 decoding related problem

2016-02-08 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Also, this happened right after system installation and after a dist-
upgrade plus reboot.

[Bug 1454450] Re: Bluetooth mouse laggy and erratic

2015-12-29 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
I observe this in a 15.10 installation.

Linux 4.2.0-18-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 6 23:32:28 UTC 2015 i686
i686 i686 GNU/Linux

I'm using a logitech bluetooth kb+mouse. Everything works normally, then
I watch a movie in Kodi and when I exit to desktop again, mouse is very
laggy. So some kind of usb suspend might be involved.

Within Kodi, after a while, the keyboard won't even reconnect so I have
to exit with a remote. Once in the desktop the slugginesh manifests
itself.

Reloading the module as in comment #10 works for me, thanks for the
workaround.

[Bug 1327772] Re: [Intel DH57JG] Early boot crash/reboot without 'nomodeset'

2015-02-07 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Latest findings that I don't know how to interpret, so I welcome ideas:

In the ubuntu-saucy repository, all kernels I've compiled work (e.g. the
last one 3.11.10.12)

In the ubuntu-trusty repository, I've tested the one tagged as 3.11.3
and it doesn't work.

Could then be a problem of configuration and not of a particular commit?

[Bug 1327772] Re: [Intel DH57JG] Early boot crash/reboot without 'nomodeset'

2014-11-08 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Ubuntu 14.10 is affected too, tested with the stock amd64 image from a
USB. Note that the computer has an i386 14.04 version installed, so the
problem affects both 32 and 64 bit versions.

[Bug 1327772] Re: [Intel DH57JG] Early boot crash/reboot without 'nomodeset'

2014-10-11 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Incidentally, this is the error I'm getting in the builds that fail:

In case someone knows how to disable that thing, or some other fix.

[Bug 1327772] Re: [Intel DH57JG] Early boot crash/reboot without 'nomodeset'

2014-07-06 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Christopher, while I find the time to do this, I have checked the live
installers. The results are:

13.04: boots if I add nolapic_timer
13.10: boots if I add nolapic_timer
14.04: only boots with nomodeset, nolapic_timer makes no difference

I will try next to find the offending commit, never did a bisect before
so it is a good opportunity to learn.

[Bug 1337336] [NEW] ktimetracker displays multiple idle dialogs, one every minute

2014-07-03 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
Public bug reported:

When the idle time is reached, ktimetracker shows a dialog to ask to
rollback or to continue timing, so you can decide when you come back.

As can be seen in the attached screenshot, I'm getting one dialog per
minute, which after e.g. one whole night is on the one hand nightmarish
to click through and on the other brings the system to its knees, I
presume on memory or X resource exhaustion.
